A rising figure of the free scene, L'Art Cène releases his debut album on Jarring Effects after two intense years in the underground tekno circuit, marked by the release of around fifteen vinyl records and tracks reaching over 200K streams. With Dun & Sark, he steps away from the dancefloor to explore a more introspective form of techno, infused with oriental sounds. Born from a live performance in Tunisia in 2023, the album draws from traditional Arabic music and takes inspiration from Acid Arab as much as from Nils Frahm or Gesaffelstein. The project reaches a new dimension with the contribution of Oud player Atef Younsi, who brings an organic warmth and a dialogue between the electronic and the ancestral.Dun & Sark: a techno that travels, feels, and dares.

The music opens with our praised IND and a mystic Acid Tribe tune, thinlace of acid glass bubbles... The l'Art Cene and Severus tunes brings a sweet kick experimentation. The flip is in the same vein : mental and delicate acid fairy tales.

Also to notice... Played at 33 RPM the A & B side tunes are absolutly great too (check our 2 last previews)... Someone at the shop were asking me for some 120 BPM mental acid techno... I think maybe the answer is here : play the 45 at 33... Like the Hardtek french movement was playing records 45 in the early 90's... But now playing 33 instead of 45... Turntablism is all about that I suppose :)

Two And Half Records returns with the third Release!

We are thrilled to announce the release of our new V.A., Each artist brings their own unique style, resulting in six tracks that are distinctly different from each other.

French producer Akyki, opens the DANCE with a wicked funky beat and catchy sounds. His music is a real injection of good vibe.

Cene & Esqueena, this Italian duo continues to make us dance with energetic Synths, captured during a live jamming. Every note is a pure groove feeling.

The young french talent HRM concludes the DANCE side with edgy electro sounds and seductive vocals, perfect to spice up the dancefloor.

Alex Vincent, German producer opens the LISTEN side with a mix of gentle electro sounds and IDM influences, sweetened by warmly snuggly melodies. A deep journey of sound to be shared intensely.

Jonny3snareS live performer from the UK, invites us to “escape” into a parallel dimension with his magical music, Synths and Drums run hand in hand harmonizing perfectly.

Foreign Sequence, from France, concludes with an IDM track with full and powerful sounds enlivened by delicate acid melodies. It is the perfect ending that encapsulates all the emotions of this EP in one track.

In 2022, Meral Polat released her debut album "Ez Ki Me" as a singer under the name Meral Polat Trio. "Ez Ki Me" roughly translates to "Who am I?". The album was a search by the singer for her Alevi Kurdish roots. In her lyrics, Meral incorporated many poems from her late father, Adi Ihsan Polat. The album received positive reviews and was nominated for a Music Award by Songlines.

On her new album MEYDAN, Meral primarily showcases her own voice, that of a woman exercising her right to live on her own terms, free from the oppressive interference of patriarchy. The album celebrates female strength, inspired by the philosophy of "JIN, JIYAN, AZADI" (WOMAN, LIFE, FREEDOM), a phrase originating from Kurdish-led women's movements. JIN, JIYAN, AZADI symbolise resistance to oppression and the fight for women's rights.

Musically, MEYDAN takes it a step further than the debut album. Meral welcomes drummer Jens Bouttery to the band, along with many inspiring guest musicians. The track "Cenek" features a determined choir of 26 women of various ages and cultural backgrounds. In "Çiya Icaro", Meral shares a duet with Bolivian artist Ibbelise Guarda Ferraguti.

On MEYDAN, Meral and her band continue their exploration of Anatolian and Mesopotamian music, particularly the Turkish psychedelic rock revolution of the 1970s and the ancient Kurdish Dengbej traditions. The band travelled to Istanbul to record with Murat Ertel from Baba Zula and trumpet player Can Omer Uygan. In addition to Anatolian music styles, influences from Mali Blues and Nigerian Afrobeat are embraced. Another notable guest is Senegalese musician Mola Sylla, who lent his voice and improvisational talent to the track "Govend".

While the drums, keyboards or guitar, and Polat's voice still form the core of the album, each track also contains its own collage of synthesisers, vocal harmonies, percussion, organ, piano, distorted guitars, and guest musicians. All tracks were mixed by the exceptional Belgian mixing engineer Pieterjan Coppejans, who added depth to their sound. All of this results in a particularly rich and uplifting album with a message.

With ’Timeless Wave’ Verdure releases an overwhelming acidic tidal force of a track.
A 9 min long epic multi layered surge across various territories and morphing along the way, starting out at 145 bpm and picking up velocity in the course, details whizzing by in unsuspected clarity.

Darkness is moving over the surface of the watery deep at ’Cap Nord’. Acid lines cut thru the black liquid with sharp fins. Then a long break...is it the swan song of whales or the intercom of AI reapers? The end or a new beginning? When the Acid fades the Tekno kicks in. 150 bpm is the pace. Both long intro and bold beatless interlude create DJ options.

Too Old Boyz are back in town and they are not in the mood for fooling around. It’s getting dark, better check your rear. The lights are flickering and you can’t get off this train. 40 tons rolling through Gotham at 145 bpm.

"The film takes place during the 17th century : period of slave-trading and of the introduction of Christianity and Islam in West Africa. The adherents of these religions all desired and hoped to pack their buildings, mosques or churches,by whatever means necessary. Arms and alcohol began to appear, as well as shoddy godds --- gadgets from another era. Anyone with a rifle tracked down and trated men, women and children. Man became money. After having converted the royal family and government dignitaries, the Imam encounters the refusal of the "Ceddo". For the Ceddo, adhering to Islam or to Catholicism would mean renouncing African spiritualism, giving up being themselves. To accomplish his goals, the Imam usurps the throne with the complicity of the dignitaries --- similar to the coups d'Etat of our days. Combining spiritual and temporal power, the Imam reduces the recalcitrant to slavery in exchange for rifles. He obliges the others by force of arms to accept Islam. Ceddo is a film of reflexion, birnging together bits and pieces of facts and authentic events that took place in a period spanning the centuries up to the present day."
