FAFO Records proudly presents its 36th release: Bahe Lumon EP, a long-awaited work by Giorgio Robles, founder of the label and a key figure in the underground scene. Originally produced over two years ago, this EP finally sees the light-delivering a deep, hypnotic, and groove-heavy journey rooted in minimal techno. The release features two original tracks, Bahe and Lumon, reflecting Giorgio's signature approach: elegant, rhythmic, and crafted for intimate dancefloors. The EP is further enriched by two outstanding remixes: one from Herman Saiz, a seasoned producer and founder of the acclaimed label Sound of Sirius (which previously featured a joint release with Giorgio), and another from Venda, a well-known name in the global minimal scene. Based in Australia, Venda has built a solid reputation through a series of quality vinyl releases, and his remix here is no exception. As always, this is a vinyl-only release, distributed by Memoria Records, and aimed at selectors, collectors, and true lovers of underground sounds.

Das neue Album "The Jacket" von WIDOWSPEAK wurde vor und nach der Veröffentlichung ihres letzten gefeierten Albums "Plum" geschrieben. Für das Duo, das aus der Singer/Songwriterin Molly Hamilton und dem Gitarristen Earl Thomas besteht, fühlt es sich an, als ob sich mit dem neuen Album ein Kreis schließt. Thematisch beschäftigen sie sich weiter mit der eigenen Zeit und Arbeit, und mit dem, was sie umgibt. Dies ist teilweise darauf zurückzuführen, dass das Duo kürzlich wieder zurück nach New York City gezogen ist. Dort wo für sie als Band alles begann, haben sie ihr neues Album zusammen mit Homer Steinweiss von Daptone Records aufgenommen. Doch Wiedervereinigungen führen immer zur Reflexion und Hamilton gibt zu, dass ein Großteil der Themen des Albums mit ihren prägenden Erfahrungen in den frühen Jahren der Band zu tun hat. So behandeln einige Songs den Prozess des Weitermachens ("Unwind", "Salt"), während andere das Bedauern behandeln ("True Blue", "Forget It"). Klanglich zeigen sich WIDOWSPEAK auf "The Jacket" in gewohnter und bester Form: Die Dynamik wechselt nahtlos zwischen sanften, treibenden Balladen und energievollen Jams, die aus dichten Gitarren, fokussierten Perkussions und kraftvollen Basslines bestehen. An anderen Stellen hört man skurrile Flöten, chorale Texturen und Heimorgeln. Thomas' Gitarrenspiel ist so ausdrucksstark und gefühlvoll wie eh und je und Hamiltons betörender Gesang ist ohnehin eine Klasse für sich. Diese Dynamik wird im Mix von Chris Coady (YEAH YEAH YEAHS, BEACH HOUSE) noch verstärkt. WIDOWSPEAK vermischen ihren Americana-inspirierten Indie-Folk gekonnt mit Slow-Core und Dream-Pop, der sowohl an die 60er als auch an die 90er Jahre erinnert. Mesh-mainstay Jinjé teams up with A. Montane for a collaborative EP born out of live improvised sessions, and composed over the period of a year.

Taking a slowed approach to the production of Neon Garden EP, the two hardware aficionados met sporadically for live jam sessions - an homage to the importance of not rushing the process, and letting ideas build over time. Each session consisted of an intense burst of musical propositions followed by a careful editing framework, giving space for each moment to flourish. Oscillating between moments of catharsis and intense rhythmic play, the EP merges disparate musical sources into exciting new structures.

‘Ikeya Seki’ launches with glistening arpeggiations and subaquatic frequencies that interact over UKG-adjacent drums. ‘Vrem’ marches to a slow-stepping half time beat, building through yearning vocals before breaking down into a storm of pointillistic percussion. On ‘Yū’, rich melodies and bouncy, bass-led rhythms dance below chopped up vocals. Closing things off, ‘Velvet People’ builds a spatial setting with bells ricocheting through malfunctioning flutters.

A nod to the joys of improvisation, Neon Garden EP takes the spirit of spontaneity and lays out new structures for its ideas to grow.

HOLY GRAIL ALERT!!! Following on 2021’s massive reboot of Midnight Magic’s seminal classic Beam Me Up, Razor-N-Tape have now unearthed a bit of NYC indie disco history with 'I Found Love.'

Although recorded over 10 years ago in Midnight Magic’s nascent early period that produced many of their legendary hits, the song never received an official release; until now it has been heard only by select ears and lucky concert-goers. The package comes with a grip of luminous remixes by Dimitri From Paris & DJ Rocca, Sophie Lloyd, Perel, some solicited at the time of recording and some brand new, but all exceptionally fresh!

“'I Found Love' was recorded in a fever on the heels of releasing 'Beam Me Up' New York dance music wizard Tommie Sunshine approached us about a co-write saying we should go as big as possible. So we did, it is one of our all time favorite vocal performances from our singer, Tiffany Roth. We had big plans, too, for a release but nothing quite felt right until meeting the Razor N Tape crew almost a decade later. Finally the stage is set, the lights are on, and we're ready. This song is very special to us because it is the last unreleased recording of our original lineup. We dedicate its release to our late bandmates Andrew Frawley and Jason Disu.”

Rancid is without question one of the most successful and influential punk bands ever, not to mention being among the most prolific. Their nonstop songwriting and marathon studio sessions often result in far too many songs to fit onto their albums. True Rancid fans know that in addition to their classic long players, many of their finest tracks have been released as single B-sides, bonus tracks, on compilations, or in some cases have remained in the band's vault. That is why B sides and C sides is no mere throwaway record, but an essential part of this classic band's catalog. The songs collected here represent a cross section of everything that has made this band so beloved worldwide, including their creative genre hopping from blazing punk rock to danceable ska, to reggae, rockabilly, and more, all executed with some of the most impressive playing in the history of underground music.
