Die sieben befreundete Musiker:innen aus Dresden und Berlin kennen sich schon seit vielen Jahren, gemeinsam waren und sind sie in den Bands Mola (Soul & Funk) und Yellow Cap (Ska & Rocksteady) aktiv. Der enthusiastische Yellow Cap Sänger überzeugte die sechs anderen Musiker:innen von seiner Vision einer ,Early Reggae & Rocksteady" Band, die sich vorerst ausschließlich mit jamaikanischen und britischen Cover-Songs aus den 60er und 70er Jahren beschäftigt. Und es wird Zeit, dass Tighten Up mit ihrer extrem tanzbaren und energetischen Musik überzeugen darf und mit ihr eine längst vergessene Zeit wieder erwachen lässt. 300 Stück weltwweit, klassisch schwarzes 180gr Vinyl, handnummeriert.

“The Atacama Experience” wurde von dem Jazzviolinisten Jean-Luc Ponty als eine musikalische Reise konzipiert. Diese Reise beginnt in der Einleitung mit einer Pariser Straßenszene, der dreizehn Songs folgen, die den Hörer durch verschiedene Länder, eine Reihe unterschiedlichster Impressionen und Emotionen sowie in die musikalische Vergangenheit und Gegenwart führen. Die Aufnahmen entstanden zwischen Januar 2006 und Februar 2007. In diesem Zeitraum bereiste Ponty mit seiner Band diverse Kontinente und absolvierte Auftritte in Südamerika, Europa, Russland, den USA und Indien. Zwischendurch kehrte er immer wieder nach Frankreich zurück, um die frischen Eindrücke und neuen Einsichten in Einspielungen für dieses Projekt zu verwandeln.

Der Dresdner Komponist und Produzent Sven Helbig kreierte anlässlich des 80. Jahrestages des Endes des Zweiten Weltkriegs das Requiem A, das die Opfer des Krieges ehrt und ein tiefes Plädoyer für den Frieden darstellt. Requiem A vereint liturgische und neue Texte. Das ‘A’ im Titel steht für ‘Anfang’ und mahnt in poetischen Bildern zu Versöhnung und Neubeginn. „Aufbruch“, „Asche“ und „Atmen“ sind Schlüsselwörter in den Texten, die einen Weg aus der Trauer in das Leben suchen.

Die Uraufführung fand am 9. Februar 2025 in der Dresdner Kreuzkirche statt, aufgeführt vom Dresdner Kreuzchor, der Sächsischen Staatskapelle und dem gefeierten Bassbariton René Pape. Am 8. Mai, dem 80. Jahrestag des Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges, wird das Werk auf dem Heldenplatz vor der Hofburg in Wien aufgeführt. Die Aufnahme erscheint am 9. Mai 2025 bei der Deutschen Grammophon. Dieses ergreifende Werk soll als universelle Botschaft der Erinnerung, der Versöhnung und des kulturellen Austauschs dienen.

Once regarded as an up-and-comer to watch, it’s fair to say that the past eighteen months have seen Dutch DJ/producer and live artist Locklead establish himself as one of the most in-demand artists emerging onto the global house stage. From his collaborative ‘Across Boundaries’ with close friend Chris Stussy to music via Dungeon Meat, Pilot, and Up The Stuss, the Utrecht-based talent has set his stall and is showing no signs of slowing. Adding to a first outing on sister label LOCUS two years ago, April welcomes a big debut appearance on FUSE as head honcho Enzo Siragusa invites him to the label for the first time to release his latest EP, ‘Kemickal Affairs’.
Opening the record, A1 ‘Zero’s Delight’ is a funk-fulled and spacey ride armed with resonant chords and swirling leads, while ‘State of Peace’ is a blissful ride through rich yet driving house spheres and showcases the second of two heavily requested anthems that have been go-to records for the likes of Stussy and Siragusa over recent months. The flip sees title cut ‘Kemickal Affairs’ open the b-side with authority, as bumping kicks and slinking grooves go to work beneath swirling synth lines and hazy tones, before wrapping things up with more modulated goodness and off-kilter vocal snippets on the chunky and trippy ‘Morning Krew’ - expect this to come out to play in those weird and wonky early-hours afters!

Die irische Musikerin Maria Somerville kündigt ihr zweites Album "Luster" für den 25. April an. Es ist zugleich ihr Debüt bei 4AD. Mit dem Announcement erscheint die Single "Garden". Der Track taucht ihre sirenenhaften Vocals in einen Sound aus schwirrendem Feedback, luftiger Percussion und nostalgischen Gitarren, der Erinnerungen an die klassische 4AD-Phase heraufbeschwört. Bereits im letzten Jahr war der hypnotische Shoegaze-Track "Projections" erschienen, mit dem Somerville eine erste Spur in Richtung des Sounds ihres kommenden Albums gelegt hatte. Somerville wuchs im ländlichen County Galway an der bergigen und rauen irischen Westküste auf. Sie zog später nach Dublin, wo sie an ihrem Signature-Sound arbeitete: atmosphärischem Dreampop, der von der Landschaft ihrer Jugend geprägt bleibt. Die ätherischen Gitarrenklänge, spärlichen Rhythmen und elektronischen Ambient-Sounds hielt sie erstmals auf dem 2019 selbst veröffentlichten Album "All My People" fest, einem Werk, das knietief in Nostalgie und Sehnsucht watet. Erst als sie nach Connemara zurückkehrte, in ein Haus nicht weit von dem, in dem sie aufwuchs - und von wo aus man einen der größten Seen des Landes, den Lough Corrib, überblicken konnte - begann Somerville mit der Arbeit an Musik, die schließlich zum neuen Album "Luster" werden sollte. Während ihr DIY-Debüt Erinnerungen und Melancholie in nebligen Slowcore hüllte, zeigen die zwölf neuen Tracks eine Künstlerin, die sich des Weges, den sie eingeschlagen hat, viel sicherer ist. "I can see more clearly than I could before. I know now what"s true for me", singt sie passend in "Trip". Gestärkt durch die neue, alte Umgebung und ermutigt durch ihre Community, entwickelte Somerville wieder kreative Energien. Der Boden erwies sich im wahrsten Sinne als fruchtbar, als sie in lockeren Wohnzimmer-Sessions erste Demos aufnahm, die später u. a. mit J. Colleran und Ian Lynch (Lankum) ausgearbeitet und schließlich vom New Yorker Engineer Gabriel Schuman (Oneohtrix Point Never, Princess Nokia, David Byrne) gemixt wurden. Eine gewisse Popularität erreichte Somerville auch durch ihre "Early Bird Show" auf NTS Radio, wo sie seit 2021 zwei Mal die Woche ein Morgenprogramm hostet, in dem sie Musik zwischen Shoegaze und traditionellem irischen Folk vorstellt. Im selben Jahr unterschrieb sie ihren Vertrag bei 4AD, wo sie bislang zwei Compilation-Beiträge veröffentlichte und mit ihren Labelmates Dry Cleaning auf Tour ging. 2025 wird sie mit Band Shows auf der ganzen Welt spielen, darunter auch Konzerte in Deutschland.

Die Verwandlung von Geschichte in einen Mythos macht persönliche Erfahrungen universell - ein Prozess, der in der Musik der russischen Produzentin Yana Kedrina, bekannt als Kedr Livanskiy, eine zentrale Rolle spielt. Auf ihrem fünften Album, "Myrtus Myth", entwirft sie eine experimentelle Pop-Reise, die von persönlichen und öffentlichen Mythologien inspiriert ist und Esoterik mit erzählerischer Tiefe verbindet. Livanskiys Musik war schon immer von Geheimnissen durchdrungen, von den ätherischen Synthesizern ihres Debüts "January Sun" bis zu den spirituellen Harmonien von "Liminal Soul". Mit "Myrtus Myth" wagt sie sich noch weiter vor und zieht Parallelen zu ihrem zweiten Album "Ariadna", während sie ihre Klangpalette mit dem Produzenten Flaty erweitert, der für seine futuristische, genreübergreifende Arbeit bekannt ist. Gemeinsam gehen sie über die Strukturen von Dance Music hinaus, integrieren Live-Instrumente und Einflüsse von Vaporwave bis Kate Bush. Zu den Höhepunkten des Albums gehören "Anna", eine von Fleetwood Mac inspirierte Pop-Elegie für eine verlorene Freundin, und "Purple Sadness", dessen knackige Synthies an den Cloud-Rap der frühen 2010er Jahre erinnern. Tracks wie "Agata Dreams" erinnern an 90s Electro-Pop, während "Spades on Hearts" ein hymnischer Aufruf zu den Waffen mit marschierenden Trommeln und hochfliegenden Vocals ist. Livanskiys Texte, die auf Russisch verfasst sind, bieten eine Heldenreise über 11 Tracks, die sich auf Mythen wie Orpheus stützen, um die dauerhafte Kraft der Kunst zu erkunden. Obwohl das Album stilistisch vielfältig ist, behält es durch seine mythische Erzählung seinen Zusammenhalt bei. Das eindringliche Schlussstück "Kali-Yuga" beklagt in zarten Harmonien eine verlorene Stadt und lässt den Hörer in einem traumhaften Dunst zurück. "Die letzten Jahre waren für viele schwierig", reflektiert Livanskiy. "Dieses Album erforscht den Schmerz durch das Mythische und Jenseitige." "Myrtus Myth" ist keine Tragödie, sondern eine Geschichte der Unverwüstlichkeit, die den Hörer auffordert, die Menschlichkeit im Mythos zu finden. Während die imaginären Welten verblassen, erinnert uns Livanskiy mit ihrem Werk daran, dass die reale Welt und die Zeit, die wir in ihr verbringen, bestehen bleibt.

Reissue eines der wegweisendsten Dub-Alben ever: King Jammys "Kamikaze Dub" (1979, Trojan Records), aufgenommen mit einer Reihe von Dub-Stars wie Sly & Robbie, Augustus Pablo, "Deadly" Headley Bennett und Bobby Ellis. Prince Jammy und Scientist, Zöglinge des Dub-Innovators King Tubby, traten aus dem Schatten ihres Meisters hervor und machten sich selbstständig. Prince Jammys LP erschien zuerst und legte die Messlatte für immer höher, so dass viele jamaikanische Produzenten sich von diesem wirbelnd-psychedelischen Minimal-Sound inspirieren liessen. The in demand breakbeat hardcore debut from the reclusive Synthasy. Engineered by Jezz Wright (the man behind the men behind Liquid’s Sweet Harmony and Lemon D’s Toxic Rhythms and Pursuit Of A Vision EPs) at Blockhouse Studios, a private press white label EP was self-distributed across London record shops and received additional exposure courtesy of Entity Records distribution arm. Growing demand warranted a subsequent full artwork label repress, but the record soon evaporated becoming the thing of legend, and now commands big money.

Made on an Amiga 1200 with Octamed, QUAAD's “PAULA EP” is a nod to the Amiga's revolutionary sound chip of the same name, as well as a love letter to the primitive sampling techniques and demoscene aesthetics that the Amiga is famous for.

PAULA’s characteristic grime and grit is evident on tracks like EP opener “King Russ”, which cuts up a gorgeously degraded smooth-jazz sample across lethal amen chops and brutal subs. Likewise, the absurdly heavy drop of “Gone Postal” is offset by QUAAD’s particular sense of humor, striking a balance between caricature and dancefloor devastation. “Erb Man Dub” and “Van Nuys Crew” round out the EP, the later switching up the intensity for a more laid back R&B vibe, hinting at QUAAD’s versatility.

To celebrate the label's 10th & 11th release, Soul Quest Records have curated a family type affair that sees faces both new and old for the label. An encapsulation of the sound that the label has been pushing since its inception back in 2023, the VA contains a wide reaching spread of house orientated cuts that showcases the labels musical personality and depth - and is reflective of the supreme talents behind the music.
The A side opens proceedings with three emotive house numbers, with label co-founder Max Sinàl and King Crowney’s track ‘Intentions’ landing first. A smooth, soul-laden progression, with subtly placed muted trumpet throughout. From the ethereal vocal lines of Liv East through to the gentle breeze of thechords, this one is Soul Quest to its core. Co-founder SIxm Sol lands next with ’NYBB’, a percussive groover that once again demonstrates a deft level of subtle interplay within the melodic layers. Dreamy vocal lines hit all the right notes alongside a blend of atmospheric pads and tinkling jazzy notes. Wrapping up the A side, Hitch 93 presents ‘Uno, Dos, Tres, Four’, which features an ear worm of a chord progression weaves its way around a rock solid percussive foundation, as the vocals chime out through the middle that helps craft a deeply hypnotic atmosphere.
The B Side opens up with Rob Redford and his track ‘Garden Party’. This track focuses around an inspired ‘everybody loves the sunshine’ sample, and exudes big level, blue sky energy, with hands in the air feels throughout as the dance shifts with smiles all round.

Two prime house steppers land next, with ‘The Blues Kitchen’ by Soul Groove presenting a top quality drum pattern that entices whilst the vocal lines and engrossing melodic section wrapping the dance around its little finger; and finally, ‘Edith’ by Flying Moth may be short but its ever so sweet - skipping stepped grooves interlaced with a bass line that thuds to the rhythms of the heart, whilst the melodies atop stir the emotions ever so delicately.
