Straight from the bustling scene of Brussels comes Nous'klaer Audio's latest signing: an effervescent debut album by the young Belgian-Japanese producer, live-performer, pianist and DJ Gaiko. Gaiko (real name Kaito) bursts onto the scene with a nine-track full-length album that highlights the rich and diverse output of this emerging talent. His first offering spans left-field electronics, IDM and DnB, blending intricate drum-programming with lush synths and contemporary, contrasting piano pieces. The long player has been shaped into a push-and-pull dynamic of tempo and mood, a flow of quests that gradually grow into their entirety. From atmospheric textures to tight, propulsive beats, Gaiko builds layers that ripple into each subsequent track. This contrasting yet complementary energy flows from the tender "Millennium" into the unassuming highs of "Setagaya," while the floating electronica of IDM-leaning tracks "Subdued" and "Ever's Lullaby" build up to standout tracks "Martyr" and "Crush." Gaiko's self-titled debut balances euphoria with introspection through an unusually sophisticated playfulness, a rare quality that makes this vivid young artist all the more promising. The 180g vinyl comes in a heavyweight sleeve with artwork by Loe Duval (aka Barwouf) and includes a download card.

The Mac Miller Estate announces new album Balloonerism.
Many of Malcolm's fans are aware of Balloonerism, a full-length album that Malcolm created around the time of the release of Faces in 2014. It is a project that was of great importance to Malcolm -- to the extent that he commissioned artwork for it and discussions concerning when it should be released were had regularly, though ultimately GO:OD AM and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence.
We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist. Given that unofficial versions of the album have circulated online for years and that releasing Balloonerism was something that Malcolm frequently expressed being important to him, we felt it most appropriate to present an official version of the project to the world. With that in mind, we're happy to announce that Balloonerism will be released on January 17th, 2025.
The album was born from the same creative period in which Mac was working on Watching Movies with the Sound Off, Delusional Thomas, Faces and more, and represents the creative ambition that he had agnostic of musical genre.

Canadian DJ and producer Marie Davidson releases her latest single “Contrarian,” made in collaboration with Pierre Guerineau and Soulwax via their DEEWEE label. An all-out onslaught of raw circuitry and electronics, “Contrarian” might just be one of Davidson’s finest club cuts to date.
Earlier in the year, Davidson debuted on the legendary DEEWEE imprint with her single Y.A.A.M. (Your Asses Are Mine), reuniting the Belgium powerhouse Soulwax, who previously reworked Davidson’s acclaimed “Work It” anthem
her wittiest and most biting" - DJ Magazine
“raving under surveillance capitalism” - Pitchfork (8.1)
"funny and wonderfully weird." - Bandcamp (Album of the day)
"reaches new heights" - CLASH 8/10
“packed with party-ready bangers” - The Quietus (Album of the week)
“takes on the big room to take down big tech.” - Resident Advisor (RA Recommends)
“a rallying call for a more humane digital future.” - The Skinny ****
Marie Davidson’s album City Of Clowns, effortlessly weaves through crunching techno straight out of 90s Detroit, fired-up circuitboard breakbeats, and skewed club cuts - a body of work which continues the use of her music as a tool to navigate her place in the world, as an artist, as a woman, and as an entertainer. As high concept as it is open-hearted, she pushes the boundaries of electronic music to digest the most urgent questions of our time – and the result is disarmingly human.
“Contrarian" is an all-out onslaught of raw circuitry and electronics and might just be one of Davidson’s finest club cuts to date.

"CQQL Records is a “sequel” to the timeless production ethos of the 80s and 90s: a time when labels truly invested in production, artist development, and put out releases that still influence today’s generation of producers, djs, dancers, and collectors. We’re continuing the story of boogie, AOR, funk, house, soul, r&b, and more, and further developing the themes we feel are classic and need to live on while making sure that each project fits its own lane and style. We’re fond of analog sounds and gear, releases produced on physical media, and paying homage to djs, collectors, and the musicians themselves: an homage but never a replication."
Introducing "Stop 2 Quit," a captivating new deep, jazzy, and lo-fi house music 12" compilation EP that delves into the art of sonic escape amidst the overwhelming noise of modern life. Starting life as the most asked about ‘ID’ in Maur’s DJ sets during the Summer, to now finally being released on Toolroom, this stone-cold classic from 2006 gets an update from Maur. Maintaining much of the original vibe but adding their trademark big room melodic twist with bundles of energy. Already causing a huge stir at club level with Gorgon City, Danny Howard, Adam Beyer and Nicky Romero all providing early support. On the flip is the 2006 original in all its glory.

For 'The Ones', Chicago House and Disco producer, Rahaan has pulled together a plethora of musicians and vocalists to create a smokestack of soul fuelled excellence on this ten track album. From the amazing vocals courtesy of Marcus J. Austin and Nancy Clayton on the opener, 'We Are The Ones', through the amazing instrumental City Rain Supreme and the vocals of Spike Rebel on the anthemic 'Forever', this album absolutely excels. The promise made on the original three track EP released on BBE Music in the Summer of 2023 is well and truly delivered on. Working with live musicians throughout the recording process has added layers of finesse and genuinely unfeigned authenticity in the overall sound of this album. Carnell Newbill's basslines and keys, Todd Swope's Afrobeat inspired guitar licks and the horns of Ohio Players legend Kenny Anderson all blend organically with the aforementioned vocalists to create an album of sublime music befitting the best traditions of the Chicago House canon. Rahaan Young is a DJ and producer who has been DJing since playing at parties in his native Chicago the 1980s. As a DJ he's enjoyed residencies at both The Spot and Buddha Lounge as well as entertaining and moving dance floors around the globe with DJ sets that show his music knowledge and exquisite taste. The Ones is mastered at the Grammy nominated Carvery Studios and will be released on vinyl and digital on BBE Music, adding to the catalogue of innovative and highly pertinent releases from artists, musicians and producers from across the world.

To celebrate the debut release on his own label, Hindwood extols the power of intuition, which has served as his guiding force since his childhood.
Fueled by love and a deep connection to the cosmos, he blossomed as an artist, attracting a circle of talented artists into his orbit, such as Brique and Local DJ. This EP is a sonic journey through his inner awareness and the web of cause and effect: an exploration of the invisible threads that bind us all together.
#1 “Guts’ feeling”, is resonating with the heartbeat of the universe and the pulse of ancestral memory, use of tribal sounds and deep bass. Through this track, he conjures a world of duality, where the darkness and the light coexist in perfect equilibrium, revealing the beauty of both.
#2 On “Third eye awakening”, he draws on the primal energy of deep, trance-like, and energetic soundscapes, and weaves a sonic tapestry that transports the listener to a realm of heightened awareness and connection.. The whispers of his soul and the song of the earth, intertwined in a harmonious dialogue that speaks to the deepest part of his being.
#3 Captivated by the mystical powers of Third Eye Awakening, Brique delivers a hypnotic remix. Appropriating the distinctive vocals and pads of the original track, he has fashioned an ode to never-ending nights animated by his own hazy memories of losing oneself on the dance floor. The deep and organic bass combined with the looping and trance-inducing acid will shake listeners to their core.”
#4 The local dj remix finishes the EP with a more atmospheric allure of dub. With a deep, throbbing bassline that anchors the groove local dj sets the pace, inviting movement and dancefloor immersion where elements evolve all along the track and keep the listener engaged from start to finish.

Back in stock due to popular demand, the 18th release in our signature Brazil 45’s series saw Elys Camargo’s ‘Taieiras’ and ‘Não Aguento Você’ by Trio Esperança issued for the first time on 7”.
First up, ‘Taieiras’ from Elys Camargo’s 1972 album Cantos Da Minha Gente on RCA. An infectious, folk-leaning, call and response number that transports you instantly to Brazil. Although Elys recorded 12 albums between 1960 and 1983, little is known about her. DJ Yoda sampled ‘Taieiras’ in his 2012 track ‘U No Likey Like That’ featuring Roots Manuva and Kid Creole & The Coconuts.
On the B side, ‘Não Aguento Você’ by Trio Esperança. A Rio vocal trio formed by siblings Mário, Regina and Evinha Correia José Maria (the latter of which recorded the stunning classic, ‘Esperar Pra Ver’), whose three older brothers we’re The Golden Boys.
‘Não Aguento Você’ is a sun-kissed, psychedelic stunner, taken from their self-titled 1971 album. The original line up recorded seven albums for Odeon Brazil between 1963 and 1975.

The Juan Maclean returns to DFA with ‘What Do You Feel Free About?,’ an electro-disco club cut paired with a remix by Man Power (ESP Institute, Correspondant).
The new single is sparse and anchored by a relentlessly catchy, bouncing bass line. Nancy Whang’s vocals carry a sense of urgency and directness as she advises to “keep your emotions secure / when you don’t, it gets personal.” Rave whistles, cowbell breakdowns and handclaps further ensure the track’s place as a key song for the summertime. The remix from Man Power remix reformats the track for the club with a dubbed out, layered vocal arrangement that adds a touch more drama to the track.
The single was produced by Juan Maclean in Brooklyn, New York in the spring of 2018. The song was co-written by live band member Monika Heidemann, who also contributed backup vocals.
Juan Maclean is a Brooklyn-based DJ and producer who has been a mainstay of the New York club scene, as well as maintaining a rigorous international touring schedule, since the release of his first records on DFA in 2002. He’s released an extensive catalogue of 12” singles and LPs for the label with vocalist Nancy Whang (most recently, 2014’s In A Dream LP, and last year’s 12” single ‘The Brighter The Light’). They are currently at work on their fourth album.

The Sound System has become part of today’s musical/cultural heritage, playing the people’s favourite hits or just as important, breaking some new tunes.
But perhaps less known are the roots of the Sound System, which began way back when…in Kingston….
Around the late 1940’s the Sound System began to overtake the big bands that usually played at the dances in Kingston.
The American Rhythm and Blues records that were so popular at the time would find their way to Jamaica via the merchant sailors and migrant workers returning from their stints in America. For economical reasons alone it would pay to have a DJ on hand to play these hits rather than a 10 piece band that could eat and drink the promotor out of the house and on curried goat!!
The early Sound Systems were basic affairs built around a single record deck, a valve amp and a speaker.
But by the 1950’s they had grown to purpose built speakers the size of wardrobes that could be heard blocks away.
Record producer Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee would remember the time ‘Sound Systems was like our radio station…not many people on the island would own a wireless, so it was the way for the people to hear their music.
So this selection of Lovers, Ballads, Root’s classic’s made the Sound Sytems of Jamaica the place to be.
So sit back and enjoy the ride….SOUND SYSTEM ROCKERS …one and all

We are proud to announce our 50th release sees a return for The Mighty Zaf, who did Moton 38 back in 2018 - our biggest selling Moton release to date. After four years of inactivity, largely due to the passing of best friend and genius engineer Phil Asher, Zaf has teamed up with Linkwood and created a spellbinding EP every bit as good as his previous Moton release.
‘Things Could Be’ is gospel soul funk killer and was made before its original creator Quincy Jones passed away recently; ‘Connect Here’ is one for the disco funk boys; ‘Gee Oh Dee’ is an obscure left-field disco gospel banger.
Moton’s fiftieth release promises to be special!
DJ Feedback
Colin Dale - I love this 3 tracker. In a sea of so many faceless and monotonous tracks this EP stands head and shoulders above the rest. Music drenched in soul, blues from a more innocent age from back in the halcyon days of black music. Music to ease your soul.
Rocky x press 2: Another mighty 3 track ep of killer cuts from Moton. Perfect companion to the Ghosted Edits 49th release. Loving all 3 edits but Things Could Be is a worthy a side and definitely my favourite. A tribute to the late Quincy Jones and a little nod to Phlash on the label. Class all the way. Massive props to Zaf and the Moton crew.

LOUIE VEGA RE-IGNITES THE DISCO CLASSIC 'DANCE (DISCO HEAT)' BY SYLVESTER
Grammy awarding winning producer & 5 time Grammy nominated Louie Vega continues to send dance floors into a peak hour frenzy with his remixes of disco classics on Nervous Records. The inspiration to delve into masters from this era began when he started remixing masters from the SAM Records catalogue, which is owned by Nervous Records, and with whom Louie has a long history going back to Nervous' early 90's origins. Louie is that unique producer who has had success in multiple genres of music including House, R&B, & Freestyle and he has brought that talent to help re-ignite New York disco classics like Vicky D's "This Beat Is Mine" and Convertion's "Let's Do It" featuring Leroy Burgess, as well as charting topping disco hits from John Davis & The Monster Orchestra "Bourgie Bourgie" & "Up Jumped The Devil".
This time, Louie put his focus on a track outside of the SAM Records catalogue, and one that was an international disco hit that also crossed over to becoming a 1978 pop hit, namely Sylvester / Dance (Disco Heat). Using elements from the 1978 version and combining them with his own original musical and percussion contributions, along with new vocal performances from renowned singer Cindy Mizelle, Louie has refashioned and reignited this 39 year-old production into a 2018 club anthem.
This past year has seen Louie continue to fortify his position as one of the industry's most prolific producers. Remixes from his Grammy - nominated best dance album "Louie Vega Starring...XXVIII' have consistently sold out on its vinyl release and hit number 1 on charts on multiple digital platforms. 2018 will see collaborations with Kenny Dope under their legendary and world-renowned Masters At Work and Kenlou monikers, as well as co-productions with The Martinez Brothers and Joseph Capriati.
Louie along with Anané Vega recently created one of the summer's premier club destination at their Ibiza summer residency The Ritual with Anané & Louie Vega at Heart. He continues to cross the globe from Europe to South Africa to Asia and back as one of the world's most sought after DJ's, and incredibly is able to maintain a weekly radio show on WBLS for the last 8 years and his NYC residency at Cielo under The Roots NYC moniker for over 13 years.
DISCHI presents Pablo Bozzi's new EP, Fantasy. After releasing multiple singles, the Berlin-based producer and DJ is back with three fresh tracks. Saddle up and get ready to ride with Sunday Rodeo, opening the EP with upbeat bouncy bass, hard-hitting 90s synths and a piano-driven melody. On Fantasy, an alluring voice leads, accompanied by potent kicks and zesty lines, sprinkled with a touch of acid. Closing the EP is Siempre, a dreamy, gleaming synthwave journey scattered with distant yet intimate voice samples. Once again, Bozzi demonstrates his undeniable ability to get dancefloors moving.

" The record tells of oases of trust.“ (Viola Klein)
Viola Klein’s records are supremely earthy and astrally inclined. In her DJ sets, she navigates with harmonies through a music selection that combines experimental house from the US Midwest, West African polyrhythms, and music in the tradition of Can from Cologne. Klein was invited to shape the sound of a club night alongside Kampire and Nídia. She has collaborated with Unity Fellowship Church New York, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Ndongo Samba Sylla, the James and Grace Lee Boggs Center in Detroit, Julion De’Angelo, and Whodat. For her own party series, originally called Bring Your Ass and later No Adoration, No Humiliation, she invited artists such as Aaron Carl, K15, and Kyle Hall when he was just 18 years old.
Her latest solo release, Confidant, offers a fresh approach to deepness.

For the past decade, Dave N.A.'s productions have reliably offered a fresh, frenetic yet finely tuned take on classic rave genres and their acid-drenched antics while exploring the cutting edge of international experimental bass and hard rave idioms. 'XLSoundwaves' proves to be no exception, taking listeners on a boisterous yet atmospheric, tight yet sprawling sonic journey that combines acid, jungle, hard trance, breakbeat, and IDM influences amid a striking wash of captivating, high-definition ambient studio sound design.
'XL Soundwaves' kicks off with "BFLY," an expansive track that features tunneling hard trance 303 lines deftly weaving through bouncy jungle breaks at a sprightly 165, all emerging from and ultimately fading back into an ethereal plenitude of ambient pads punctuated by a soulful, resonant vocal refrain. Next up, "Radiance" offers an infectiously groovy, sidewinding jaunt through cheeky acid breaks that evolves into a crescendo of lush, eyes-to-the-sky ecstasy. "XL," the EP's third offering, brings the heat with fat basslines, frequent turntablist rave licks, and a freaky sense of humor, almost cinematically projected onto a vast horizon of sumptuous strings. The EP comes to closewith "A.I.R.," a thoughtful banger with a mischievous IDM sensibility that sets acid jungle adrift on an ocean of shimmering orchestral sampladelia and ambient synth radiance.
To some, Dave N.A.'s acid jungle opus might seem like an unexpected plot twist in thecuratorial trajectory of Uppers and Downers. Much to the contrary however, the 'XL Soundwaves EP' is a perfect early release, helping to establish the mission of Uppersand Downers as continuing the search across diverse international rave genres, traditions, and communities for producers and productions that resonate with Dr.Rubinstein's lifelong pursuit of soundtracking her ideal rave: one that offers ravers access to an ecstatic, joyful, affirmative, and inclusive sense of home, of feeling at homewith both oneself and one another through the music.

"Hipster by heart, but I can tell you how the streets feel."

An Avrin returns to Scuffed Recordings with four new originals and a remix from Sonia Calico.
An Avrin has been a firm favourite of the UK label since his 2019 appearance on the Scuffed Presents Vol.3 compilation with the track ‘Cave People’, which saw heavy rotation from DJs like Ross From Friends and rRoxymore. Returning to Scuffed the following year with the ‘Clodhopper’ EP, the London-based producer further developed his wobbly, esoteric sound, which draws extensively from a range of electronic influences.
Since then, An Avrin’s catalogue has become a go-to for under-the-radar club heat, with a string of self-released EPs and an appearance on Bristol’s Slippery Sounds marking him out as a vital name to watch.
The ‘Parisian Pitstop’ EP is his second release on Scuffed, and sees An Avrin building on his previous work while also expanding his horizons into different tempos and styles.
The A-side opens with the one-two of the title track - which is as good a primer on An Avrin’s sound as it’s possible to have - and ‘Stumbler’, both high-impact tracks with raucous breaks bouncing off warped vocals and relentless bass.
On the B-side is ‘Plata’, which builds tension with more melodic elements, before crashing into thunderous kicks and glitchy grooves. An Avrin ups the ante on ‘Is It?’, the last of the four originals on the EP, and the highest tempo of the bunch.
Taiwan-based producer Sonia Calico rounds off the release with her remix of ‘Plata’, a rowdy rework that pits grimey bass up against intense, rolling percussion.
Early DJ support has come from Surgeon, Emerald, Naina, Ciel, and Louise Chen.

Born in Australia and moving to the UK in her early 30s, Peggy O’Keefe became the resident pianist at the Chevalier Casino in Glasgow in 1962. Initially the residency was for six months, which then turned into six years. It was at this point she recorded her 'Mood Chevalier' LP in 1966, a collection of the band’s favourites but the gold is found in her version of 'Cubano Chant', made famous by Art Blakey and then played across jazz dances ever since.
Peggy’s playing was admired by Cleo Laine and Oscar Peterson, and once had a brief, impromptu duet with Frank Sinatra, Peggy and her band showed their true talent with these two versions of jazz favourites.
Hiding in the shadows for nearly 60 years, Now PANORAMA unearth this gem in their trademark 7 inch format, from a Glaswegian restaurant to a dancefloor near you.
PANORAMA Records is an emerging new label based in London, dedicated to rediscovering and showcasing musical gems with a fresh approach. The Acidboychair music project started in the early noughties as a commentary on what journalist Simon Reynolds would summarise a few years later as Retromania. Initially conceived by Thomas Baldischwyler and Andreas Diefenbach as a performative revival travesty with large-format drum computers and synthesizers reconstructed from cardboard, everything took a surprising turn when DJ Mooner (the man behind the now defunct Munich music label Erkrankung Durch Musique) took an interest in the adventurous audio material produced by Baldischwyler. In 2005, the LP 1987 (EDM1016), produced almost exclusively with long-forgotten software (SoundEdit 16, RB-338, etc.), was released on Mooner's label. As a result of the growing number of bookings, Baldischwyler had to think about improving the performability of his intentionally amateurish productions. Fortunately, the Ableton Live programme became a DAW with a MIDI sequencer and support for VST plug-ins as early as 2004 - and this made it easier for him to execute his intuitive, error-friendly version of acid house. This can be heard on the first two sample-heavy tracks on the A-side of Come Down Easy, which were recorded in 2005 and 2006 respectively at Acidboychair gigs at Hamburg's Golden Pudel Club and Munich's Registratur. The first two tracks on the B-side (produced sometime between 2006 and 2008) were actually supposed to be part of a solo release on the Acido label run by Dynamo Dreesen, but this never materialised. However, the final tracks and the 133.3 BPM lock grooves that follow are the title and central to this catalogue number TBG123: Through ethno-musicologist Arthur Boto Conley, who had already released a one-sided 12 on his label with material from one of Baldischwyler's audio installations, he met Florian Meyer (Don't DJ) and Marc Matter (Spoken Matter), who introduced him to their collaborative project Institut F?r Feinmotorik (IFFM). Baldischwyler's attempt to approach the sound aesthetics of IFFM led to the tape 60 Minutes Of Barely Modified Lock Grooves (TCCC06), recorded in Rome in 2018. A buyer of this tape introduced him to the Detroit collective Pure Rave, which he immediately contacted and introduced to the work of the IFFM. It was important for Baldischwyler to have an analogue update made and so both the Detroiters and IFFM, who now live in Berlin, were given 8 copies of EDM1016's backstock to remix the material in their own way. At their jam in Detroit, Pure Rave opted for the almost identical material that IFFM had also used for a live performance in the Hamburg project space Beek. The dominant jumps in both arrangements come from the track Eightyseven, produced in the early 2000s for the LP 1987, an awkward remix of the Spacemen 3 track Come Down Easy, which is also referred to in the liner notes on the inner sleeve of TBG123. The almost two-decade-old revival idea thus turns into false memory syndrome and runs into a - in keeping with our times - clean-cut (endless) groove. Kassem Mosse (The KM of MM/KM) on Come Down Easy after a first listening session: I think it all works very well as a mix, no matter where you start it carries you further forward back in the loop. if I understand the liner notes correctly, it's about the music's turn from tradition preservation (doing everything right) to ecstatic delusion (not doing everything right when intoxicated). Now that I'm reading again instead of listening, the titles give me a different understanding of the connections; how the skipping belongs together, which playtime is connected. Now I can name my favourites. Thank you for the journey!
