David Hasert creates Pop for the dancefloor, his remix is like a Dreamliner in the balearic sea, which goes ashore with the drums of Bertil Mark. David Hasert curates the NICE parties in Cologne and runs the Label LIKE.When Matt Karmil`s Remix starts, you know this is a hit. Sensitive and cool he captures the essence of the track while
leaving out all Pop Themes. The solitary beat splattered with white noise creates an eternal space to drift away to in the club

*A pure slab of noise... a ruckus on vinyl! A limited edition piece of wax featuring remixes by the Circus Records superstars Funtcase & Genetix.

*Funtcase has been producing since being inspired by d&b as a kid growing up in Bournemouth. In 2009 he created his dubstep alias Funtcase and released his first single on 4:20 Records. The following year he signed with Circus Records and released the killa 'So Vexxed/Matress Punch'. He is also known for his standout remixes, including mixes for Plan B, Camo & Krooked, The Wideboys & Skizm.

*For this remix Passenger organised Spyda (Pendulum 'Black Tarantula'/Knife Party 'Fire Hive') back into the vocal booth to lay down some fresh vocals for the remix. A former Passenger vinyl buyer, Funtcase is no stranger to the sounds of the label and adds his own nod to its history by flipping some breakbeat twists and turns to proceedings to create what many are saying is his best remix to date!

*The flipside remix is from fellow Circus Records crew members and Bournemouth badmen Genetix. Following a similar path to Funtcase, Matt & Rich started off making d&b before switching the tempo and laying down some filth at 140. With regular appearances on the MistaJam's radio show, guest mixes on KissFm for Hatcha and Crazy D and remixes for the likes of Bassline Smith & Drumsound and Kelly Clarkson, to name a few, these guys are continuing a south coast tradition of bass noise and terror.

*With the label instructions to 'make it as heavy as you can, Genetix took the vocal of Sporty-O, recorded at DJ Lethal's (House Of Pain/Limp Biskit/La Coka Nostra) studio in LA back in 2007, and brought it up to speed with a track that flips from militant dubstep into some proper 808 trap biz.

BeatsAmbientChill-OutLounge

Scott Mou, known as one half of the duo Jane - the folk techno drone duo he had with Panda Bear - aswell as part of Manhattan's famous record store Other Music, debuts with his Soloproject Queens.

Johan Jacobsen describes the wonderful music of Queens "in oxymorons; "colorful monochrome," "myopic depth," "sad joy," "driven slowness," "enlightened darkness," "universal intimacy ' , "ethereal earthboundness" ... As it should be. Queens is one of those wonderful artists who are hard to catch on the fly, who escapes easy definition. His music is an unexpected and unimagined universe ready to be explored, and it's a universe that is wonderful to be in."

When Dial Records' David Lieske and Peter Kersten listened to a performance of their New York based friend in 2009, it was one of those unforgettable unique experiences you only have once in a long while these days. The idea of releasing an album was born. The production of "End Times" involved other labelmates such as Phillip Sollmann aka Efdemin (recording), Kassian Troyer (mixing) and Hendrik Weber, who once joined a life performance on stage with Scott Mou in 2012.

The bomb that should have dropped way back when. After a career spanning almost two decades DJ Overdose debuts on Creme with his first full length album, upon which we remark with carefully considered understatement: 'A veritable tour de resistance in film noir electronics, Bizarro World is a dank and dark alley made flesh. Overdose's heavy soulful beats and soundscapes snatch your dreams right from under you like a shadowy kleptomaniac, masterfully pairing melancholy and ennui with fear and voyeuristic tiger-lurking-in-the-bushes paranoia. So lock up your future plans or you might very well find yourself without any'. For those who don't know, DJ Overdose is one of the OG's of the La Haya underground, one half of Novamen and the other half of The Hasbeens with classic and sought after releases on Bunker, Viewlexx, Murder Capital, Clone and Strange Life to name a few. In his spare time he doubles as a hand model for Bruce Willis.

Hip-HopReggae

*Winston Wright is another unsung hero from the Jamaican musical
cannon. Although many might not know his name, you will have
heard him on many records in your collections. When we say that
it was he who played that classic Hammond organ riff on the
1969 'Liquidator' classic, as part of the Harry J Allstars, we might
begin to appreciate his talents that bit more. But not only this, many
1970's classics carry his organ, piano and arranging skills and
even before that time, many tunes cut in the 1960's,as part of Duke
Reid's house band Tommy McCook's Supersonics, carried the

Winston Wright signature sound.

Winston Wright (b 1944 , Jamaica) began his musical career in
the 1960's as a session player and soon became an integral part
of the Treasure Isle Studio house band, that became known as
Tommy McCook's Supersonics . He played on many of the
Rocksteady era hits that Duke Reid ruled the island with between
1966-1968.His mastery of the Hammond organ made him an in
demand session player. One such was Harry J studio's that had a
massive hit in the UK in 1969 with 'Liquidator' as the Harry J
Allstars of which Winston was a member. The same year saw him
cut some great tunes as part of Clancy Eccles' Dynamites.
The 1970's saw Winston Wright working closely with Dynamic
Sounds Studios' nucleus of musicians Cutting material for all the top
producers of the time including numerous sides for Bunny 'Striker'
Lee, which we have focused on for this set of tunes. From 1975
onwards Winston Wright was a member of Toots and the Maytals'
touring band, but we celebrate here his mighty fine studio work.
Adding his touches to many a fine rhythm as only Winston could
we hope you enjoy the set.

It's always been about the bass! Starting the Electronic Supper Club with friends came out of nothing more than a vibe for the City, to create a canvas for us all to paint on in equal measure, it's from this work that this EP was born, it really connected us back into the City. HouseDeepTechRemakeTechnoTechno

Alex Niggemann's 2012-defining long player 'Paranoid Funk' dropped in June to a rapturous response from DJs, dancers and home listeners alike. Here, Poker Flat Recordings revisits some of the exceptional highlights of that record, and deliver a remix package sure to be as equally sought-after by those in the know. 'Paranoid Funk' saw the Berlin resident explore a variety of grooves and textures, an experiment that won him many new admirers and a great deal of critical acclaim. Here, some of the hottest remix talent in the scene get their hands on the originals and twist them into new shapes. Following on from releases on Cocoon, Kling Klong, Circle and two strong EPs on Poker Flat ("Dinosaurs' and 'This") renowned producers Alex Flatner and LOPAZZ take on 'Don't Wait' and drop a growling, main room monster that will standout in any set. Francys, the young Italian making quiet a name for himself on the underground house and techno circuit, lends his skills to 'Back 2 Basics feat. Benji' - channeling the spirit of the early 90s into seven ecstatic minutes. Next up is Salvatore Freda - the highly respected Swiss DJ and producer who injects Niggemann's 'I Don't Care' with a narcotic groove that sits somewhere between Detroit and Berlin - the dubbed out vocals adding an element of otherworldliness that work in perfect compliment to the track's twisted (paranoid) funk. Berlin's own Andre Lodemann picks out 'Lovers' for his excursion, a deep bomb that grows and grows around an exceptional vocal from John Rydell - this is one for the very late nights or early mornings. What is clear from this release is that Alex Niggemann's star continues to rise - the classical pianist turned producer and DJ extraordinaire is moving on to the next phase of his career - and with the slew of outstanding releases to his name already, who is to say where that could lead. HouseMinimalTech

It's been a terrific year for KOMPAKT boss MICHAEL MAYER, who released his sophomore album 'MANTASY' (KOMCD100/KOM250) - the eagerly awaited follow-up to his seminal album debut 'TOUCH' (KOMCD36/KOM107). 2013 is shaping up to be equally busy, with an ongoing worldwide DJ tour, the label's 20th birthday and now the first EP of 'MANTASY' remixes. 'MANTASY REMIXE 1' is the first entry in a series of three, featuring a stellar cast sure to push any dance floor over the edge.

Up and coming producer and core family member of the Cómeme family - PHILIPP GORBACHEV is no stranger to Kompakt, and he delivers a slashing rework of adrenaline-fuelled synth fest 'VOIGT KAMPFF TEST'. This Berlin based Russian has had a tremendous career launch thanks to his excellent solo debut 'IN THE DELTA' (CÓMEME 012) and as a partner in crime releasing singles as a member of ISAAC JOHAN and THE DISTRICT UNION. Pulling out all the stops for this remix, 2013 promises to push him as a major club force to be reckoned with.

Another star in the making, Cologne's BARNT had an equally strong run in the last months with in-demand releases on Magazine, Cómeme and Mule Musiq: his track GEFFEN (from - The Power Of Now', CÓMEME 013) is easily one of the most recognized club singles of this year. He also tackles 'VOIGT KAMPFF TEST', dialing things back a bit, but only to reinforce the air of sheer magnitude that oozes from every single note. Delving deeper into his trademark Kraut Techno approach, Barnt replaces the original's thrills with creeping tension and reaches a new understanding of what the prime time should sound like.

THE MOLE is well-known for his heavily sampled, organic loopiness having a special place reserved in nearly every DJ's record crate, but this beat-driven. remix of Mayer's beatless masterpiece 'BAUMHAUS' sees the producer refining his approach, as he takes the original's evocative expertise to new heights of grooviness. It's not just a case of 'let's put a beat in there and we're done', but a fundamental rework eliciting hidden properties and finding a new perspective on an already perfect slice of music. A personal favorite of many Kompakt aficionados, 'Baumhaus' finally gets the club treatment it so clearly deserves.

Following up his EP 'String Theory' on Simple, Julian 'October' Smith has teamed up with label head Will Saul, for 'Light Sleeper', Aus Music's final release of 2012. The EP comes with a remix from Kompakt boss Michael Mayer. Jules & Will met last year when Will relocated to Somerset and they seemed to click instantly in the studio. A natural division of labour emerged which proved to be both effective and fun whilst also playing to both's strengths. Jules mans the drum machines and outboard FX and Will controls the synths....they hit record and see what happens. Look out for another 12 from them in Feb next year with a remix from Fred P. October's profile has been steadily rising since the launch of his first label, Caravan Records in 2007. In the last few years, his brand of off-kilter house and techno has also appeared on Skudge, Misericord, Jack Off and Applepips, and been championed by the likes of Ewan Pearson, Skudge and Appleblim. Smith's label 'TANSTAAFL', has been widely praised by the music press, and sets the course forv more of the jacking dancefloor house and techno he is known for. This year Will Saul revealed he was behind Close, a project he's created as a vehicle for his forthcoming album 'Getting Closer' and a A/V show which will feature Will on various machines and Al Tourettes on drums all backed with lovingly crafted visuals created & mixed by Silent Studios. The A/V show debuts at Fabric on the 23rd February and the album will be released in May 2013 on !K7 and features vocals from Joe Dukie of Fat Freddies Drop, Peacefrog artist Charlene Soraia and Paul 'Tikiman' St.Hillaire as well as collaborations with Scuba, Appleblim, Ewan Pearson, and of course October. In the eight years since Michael Mayer released his debut album 'Touch', he's maintained a tightly packed schedule of DJ gigs and remixes.

Coming from the notorious L.A. promoters/multi-media group Droid Behavior, Vangelis and Vidal Vargas are no strangers to Techno. These brothers have been shaping and molding L.A. dance floors since the early 2000's. Formerly known as Acid Circus, they started to record as Raíz in 2010 for their first release on Historia y Violencia.
Here, the brothers dive deep into the realm of music and structure, with two moving tracks that defy their live performances. Curandero builds up through out the track with every bit of 909 drum and just enough fx's to keep you focused on your 1-2 step. With Sabio, Raíz dives deep using the classic Convextion formula to hypnotize the audience in their style. Both tracks tell a story of what Raiz is about and what part they hold in L.A. C.K. Mann made his name as a virtuous guitar player in Ghana when he played with Moses Kweku Oppong in the Kakaikus Guitar Band in the early 60s. He then became the leader of the band Ocean's Strings until 1966. In 1968, he enjoyed a hit with the single 'Edina Benya'.
Mann was known for blending authentic African music with European influences. He was inspired by Latin American music and created a style all of his own. He became known as the 'King of Highlife' in Ghana in the 70's, when he released the record 'Nimpa Rebre' featuring vocals from Pat Thomas and Kofi Yankwon.
Funky Highlife came out of the Essiebons label run by Dick Essilfe Bondzie. According to Dick, this album could have been a massive hit in Ghana but the vinyl factories ran out of stock because of Ghana's economic downturn, so the demand for the record could not be met. The album is a fusion of highlife and soul. The best-known track 'Asafo beesuon' is a multi-layered, drum heavy, funk medley and is over 13 minutes long.

'Little Drummer Girl' is a stunningly rich, diverse and futuristic 4-track EP from the Brooklyn duo Tiger Fingers. A collaboration between Jordan Lieb (also known as Black Light Smoke) and Asako Kujimoto. The cheekily-named pair have assembled three unique remixes of their title track - each as bold and refreshing as the other. The A side kicks off with the original - all bubbling synths, arps and effects, and a subtle yet disturbing vocal from Asako. Beats and thunderous synth riffs combine with speak 'n' spell samples to produce a mesmerizing brand of 22nd century electro pop. Next up is the 'Night Plane Club Mix' - one of two remixes the Texan William Rauscher provides for this release. The club mix straightens out the groove and develops the track into a crisp house groover, finding plenty of space for old school sub bass, chiming 808 percussion and washed out, ethereal vocals - huge vibes for the floor. 'The Night Plane Remix' sees Rauscher explore more glitchy, post-everything, acid-flecked waters - an atmospheric, twisted stormer. Last but by no means least is the Hotflush man-of-the-moment, Jimmy Edgar. His take on 'Little Drummer Girl' uses the original as a springboard, from which he constructs a slamming electro-boogie-space-jam. Deeply funky, highly charged, and immensely inventive club music. 'Little Drummer Girl' is taken from Tiger Fingers debut minialbum which is due for release on hafendisko in December. About Tiger Fingers: The upcoming self-titled debut album by Tiger Fingers, the duo of Jordan Lieb and Asako Fujimoto, almost never saw the light of day. RAWAX IS PROUD TO WELCOME MR. K-ALEXI SHELBY TO THE FAMILY!
Mr. K Alexi Shelby
Like a moth drawn to a flame, there is something utterly infectious about the music of Mr.K Alexi Shelby, better known as K-Alexi one of the founding fathers of house music direct from his home city of Chicago. Since the late 1980s, he has pioneered the true house sound, leading to a DH and production career spanning over 20 years, including collaborations with artists ranging from The Pet Shop Boys to Derrick May and from Larry Heard and Felix da Housecat to Will Smith, as well as gigs across the globe.
An impressionable young teenager, Mr.K Alexi Shelby developed friendships with Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy whilst attending seminal venues like The Warehouse and The Music Box in the mid 1980s. Being here at this embryonic stage of dance music culture, there were no rules or precedents, so K Alexi drew on a rich musical heritage that had seen him grow up in the 70s and 80s listening to Stevie Wonder, Prince, Curtis Mayfield and David Huff. Those roots continue to influence his music to this day.
It was under the moniker Risque III that Essence Of A Dream was released in 1987, firmly establishing the name of Mr.K Alexi Shelby amongst the most prominent of all house producers at the time. Moreover, those early tracks are still recognized to be the quintessential Chicago house sound. The rumbling and dark bass, smooth strings, incredible percussion and the spoken word poetic and erotic lyrical flow became the trademark for classic Chicago house and the template for everything else that followed. To reiterate, there was no template before this. This was the beginning.
This initial success has lead to Mr.K Alexi Shelby working with the leading names across the electronic music world and beyond. Collaborations and remixes for Chicago peers like Mike Dunn, Mr. Lee and Marshall Jefferson merely served as the springboard for Alexi to work with the best in the electronic scene, from Derrick May to Paul Johnson ,Ron Trent Dave Angel to Felix ad House Kat. Furthermore, his talents have also lead to him working with The Pet Shop Boys and Will Smith.
On top of this, his tracks have appeared on compilations by artists varying from Laurent Garnier to DJ Hell, who used It's Me 2010 contribution to the Body Language series for Get Physical Music. Produced under the Club M.C.M. moniker, the 1991 EP It's Me/Club M.C.M. has been a frequent selection for compilations for 20 years and is rightly regarded as a true underground techno classic.

But it's his work with Bristolborn hot-property Owain K that is currently exciting discerning dancefloors worldwide. 'Do You Know', their latest collaboration, sees Jamie and Owain drop some serious sunshine grooves - shuffling hi-hats and a classic, Chitown synth let you know that this is all about the good times. The spoken word vocal pays homage to forgotten jazz legends - the uplifting vibe sure to put a smile on the faces of dancers all summer long. Jamie and Owain switch it up on the other main track in this release. 'Keep It Pumping' drops the tempo to 118bpm and digs its toes into the sand for a balearic-tinged nu-disco stomper. Disco toms fire, the sub bass rumbles, and spacey synths and vocal samples wash over this expertly crafted sunrise/ sunset groove. A dub of 'Do You Know' rounds off the release from this hugely talented combo.

Altercat proudly presents the definitive reissue of one of the crown jewels of South American jazz. Essentially the brainchild of Argentinian jazz's leading figure Jorge López Ruiz, the project Viejas Raíces marked López Ruiz's departure from the traditional forms of jazz. The trio that recorded this album, consisting of López Ruiz joined by his life-long friend drummer Pocho Lapouble and gifted Chilean pianist Matías Pizarro, created a thrilling blend of jazz and Uruguayan candombe, surrounded by an undeniable cinematic feel spurred by López Ruiz's long experience in the soundtrack field. When read as one element, the cleverly chosen combination of group name and album title (in English: 'Old Roots of the Colonies of the River Plate') readily hints at the kind of sounds the listener will be challenged with when diving into this LP.

Recorded in 1976 in the wake of the "Proceso de Reorganización Nacional", the bloodiest period of dictatorship in Argentina, the album was initially frowned upon by critics and public alike, both still firmly rooted in jazz traditionalism and obviously not ready for the new ideas that musicians like López Ruiz were experimenting with. Despite being a commercial flop upon its release, the album has been enjoying a growing reputation over the last two decades, acclaimed by jazz enthusiasts who value it from a different historical perspective and embrace its experimentation during this revolutionary period of change.

Forty-five years after its release, the album receives the Altercat treatment with a much deserved deluxe reissue, with sound direct from the master tapes and an accompanying 12-page booklet with previously unpublished pictures and bilingual liner notes telling everything you ever wanted to know about the album and those who made it possible.

Repressed !!

Jay Dee needs no introduction. Widely regarded as one of the most important figures in hip–hop alongside Pete Rock, Kanye West, Pharell, and Dr. Dre, his influence has reached far beyond the genre. Known widely as your favourite producer’s favourite producer, and having produced and remixed for legends like Janet Jackson, Daft Punk, A Tribe Called Quest, Brand New Heavies, Busta Rhymes, Common, Erykah Badu, Guru, The Pharcyde, The Roots, De La Soul, and Royce Da 5’9"—the list is endless—there is no questioning Jay Dee’s genius. Many have tried, but none have been able to duplicate his sound. Originally released in 2001, Welcome 2 Detroit marked Jay Dee’s first solo project and the groundbreaking debut of BBE’s Beat Generation series, where producers stepped into the spotlight with complete creative freedom. A paradigm-shifting record, it was short-listed for Artistic Achievement in Music in October 2001 (the U.S. equivalent of the Mercury Prize) and instantly set the bar for everything that followed. Now, 25 years later, Welcome 2 Detroit returns in a long-awaited repress, celebrating a quarter-century of influence and innovation. This anniversary edition brings the instrumental version of the album back into circulation after years out of print, allowing listeners to experience the full depth and complexity of Jay Dee’s production in its purest form. Stripped of vocals, the intricacy, texture, and brilliance of his work shine brighter than ever—revealing details you may have missed the first time around. Make sure you grab a piece of history.

Christoph de Babalon - Leaving Time

BeatsDrum&Bass

We’re extremely proud to present Leaving Time, a new EP by Christoph de Babalon. The EP has all the menace and grit that the Hamburg-born, Berlin-based producer is known for, but packs a potent, dance-ready punch that breaks new ground.

Leaving Time begins with the snarling subs ‘The Upper Hand’, and momentum builds through the panoramic breakbeats of ‘I Trusted You’ and dubwise groove of ‘Steps Into Solitude’ to reach the symphonic release of ‘Got to Let Go’.

This record encapsulates everything we love about Christoph’s music – it’s doom-laden, introspective and crafted with intent.

In short, it’s CDB on a 140 / fwd tip - fuck the chairs!

About Christoph de Babalon:

Christoph de Bablon first became known for his work on Alec Empire’s Digital Hardcore Recordings in the early 1990s and has championed a misanthropic take on drum and bass that has stood the test of time.

A punk-influenced fusion of jungle, breakbeat and dark soundscapes, his signature sound has become the stuff of legend – Thom Yorke once said Christoph’s pioneering debut album 'If You’re Into It, I’m Out Of It’ was the “most menacing record” in his collection.

After a brief hiatus composing music for theatre (we’d like to hear what that sounded like), recent releases on labels such as A Colourful Storm, V I S and AD93 have sparked renewed interest in the German producer, and with much excitement from his loyal following of die-hard supporters.

Kaspi & Stride is a new project from Justin Tripp, best known as one half of the Georgia equation. Leanings has its origins in rigorous yet laid back studio sessions, dual personal practice sensibilities that seem to get at Tripp’s creative ethos as well as any descriptors might. The material here was born out of collaborative studio sessions with multi-instrumentalist Jimy Seitang (Conga Square/Stygian Stride) - the “Stride” of K&S. The music from these sessions has been reworked and recontextualized by Tripp to form the eight tracks found on the record. These compositions are heady and diverse, anchored by infectious drum patterns and intricate electronics, capably occupying a somewhat hard to define space between “club ready” and “home listening.”

“Vishing” throbs with a wide-eyed intensity, infused with the type of deceptively rudimentary synth stabs and bass swells that wouldn’t be out of place on an early Hype Williams record. With contributions from Mary Lattimore and Jon Leland, “Kaptoxa” charts a more ethereal, if no less dizzying, course. Indeed, this is an album that navigates dense, tactile passages and airy, celestial planes with aplomb, making a case for Tripp’s prowess as both composer and arranger with equal priority. The most important thing is to keep moving.

Mark Gomes - Alphane Moods

Beats

Australia-based musician Mark Gomes presents the debut full length under his own name for Soda Gong. “Alphane Moods” finds Gomes employing strategies that will be familiar to listeners of his work as Blue Chemise – elegiac, loop-based modes of composition and a predilection for concise etude forms – that manifest here with a strikingly different scope and intent, shifting from expressive abstraction into more conceptual terrain. Over the course of fourteen widescreen tracks, he navigates the gap between nostalgic and futurist sensibilities, concocting elusive, romantic, and sanguine settings that feel both plucked from the past and beamed in from a time still to come. Gomes describes his approach on the record as a “practice of ‘constructed ambience’, deploying sounds and track titles with pop-psychological associations of escape.” The result is a vivid, cinematic album that splits the difference between the worldbuilding retrofuturism of the best vaporwave music and the shadowy, homespun tape vignettes for which Gomes has become well known.

"Actoma" is the new full length record by New York–based musician James Emrick. Emrick may be best known for his work with Kinet Media, handling sound design and scoring for a number of their projects. He utilizes an array of granular and feedback processes within Max/MSP environments to arrive at an idiosyncratic form of computer music that feels willfully opposed to operating within the sediments of the genre. Techniques such as real-time granulation of samples, Shepard tones, grain diffusion, and complex windowing allow Emrick to dramatize his source material in fascinating ways, and each moment of "Actoma" teems with widescreen textural allure. Perhaps Emrick’s greatest accomplishment is creating a music that remains rigorously committed to severe levels of abstraction while avoiding sterility and coldness entirely. It is a strange and otherworldly landscape indeed, but there is a consciousness there to perceive and record it.
