Der sich über mehr als drei Jahrzehnte erstreckende musikalische Erfolg von Tiken Jah Fakoly ist auf vier Eckpfeilern begründet, deren Fundament für seinen klaren und kompromisslosen Reggae steht und sich ebenso klar und unmissverständlich in den Texten des beliebten afrikanischen Musikers widerspiegelt. Sei es als Verteidiger der Unterdrückten oder als steter Daumen in der Wunde der von ihm benannten Tyrannen. Schon zu Beginn der 90er Jahre, mit seiner ersten Band 'Djélys" in Odienné, einer Stadt im Nordwesten der Elfenbeinküste, fiel Tiken Jah mit seiner tiefen, eindringlichen Stimme auf. Ein großer Erfolg und der erste der starken Eckpfeiler war jedoch sein in Abidjan entstandenes Debut Album unter seinem Namen, 'Mangercratie" (1999). Es erschütterte sowohl die lokale Reggae-Szene, vor allem aber auch die Machthaber, die dekadente Oberschicht, die "alten Fressäcke", wie er sie betitelte, die die Zeichen der Zeit ignorierten und sich an die Macht klammerten. Den zweiten Grundstein legte er in Paris, dem zentralen Nerv Frankreichs, mit seinem dritten Album 'Françafrique" (2002), einem Begriff, der informell für das - wie Tiken Jah in seinen Texten anprangerte - antiquierte politische System Frankreichs und dessen mafiöse Strukturen steht. Im selben Jahr wurde sein Land, die Elfenbeinküste, von einem Bürgerkrieg zerrissen. Seine Landsleute hatten "den Verstand verloren", wie er es schon zuvor in einem seiner Liedtexte prophezeit hatte. Fakoly suchte Unterschlupf in Bamako, ohne sich jedoch wie ein Flüchtling zu fühlen, denn "Africa is united", Afrika ist vereint, wie er schon immer verkündet hatte. In Bamako legte er mit dem treffend benannten 'L"Africain" (seinem fünften Album, 2007) den dritten Eckpfeiler, gefolgt von dem vierten Eckpfeiler, dem großartigen 'African Revolution" (2010), seinem siebten Album, welches das endgültige Fundament bildete: Ein revolutionärer Schrei, ein direkter politischer Aufruf, der sich in den bloßen, schlichten Reggae-Rhythmen entlädt, unangekündigt und dafür umso schöner und machtvoller. Sein elftes und neuestes Album 'Braquage de pouvoir" (Raub der Macht) setzt diesen Weg fort. Das Album trifft den Nerv auf den Punkt, denn es begnügt sich nicht damit, Tiken Jahs musikalische und politische Errungenschaften zusammenzufassen, sondern offenbart in Gänze das Wesen des fakolianischen Stils - ein Adjektiv, das wir zu erfinden wagen, so wie Tiken Jah Fakoly es wagte, diese starken Pfeiler zu erschaffen.

TRINITAS ist die unheilige Allianz der Drei, die den alten Geist des Black Metal huldigen. Die Mitglieder sind Vargher (Gitarren, Bass, zusätzliche Vocals), Tormentor (Drums) und Azathoth (Necromantical Screams, Lyrics). Die Idee zu TRINITAS kam im Jahr 2012 auf. Alle drei Mitglieder kannten sich zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits seit einigen Jahren durch ihre anderen Bandaktivitäten. Von Anfang an war klar, dass TRINITAS eine Hommage an die Black Metal Bewegung der frühen 90er Jahre sein sollte. Daher ist die Musik roh und in gewisser Weise primitiv - ein bewusster Gegenpol zu dem, was man heute als Black Metal bezeichnet. Es gibt nichts Progressives in der Musik von TRINITAS und die Texte handeln nur vom Tod und dem Teufel - so wie es damals sein sollte. Eine Hommage an eine Zeit, in der Black Metal mehr war als nur Musik.

Es dauerte bis 2018, als die ersten drei Songs aufgenommen wurden. Sie wurden auf der selbstbetitelten MCD und MLP über das deutsche Label War Anthem Records im Jahr 2019 veröffentlicht. 2021 kamen Azathoth auf die Idee, ein erstes Full-Length-Album aufzunehmen. Innerhalb von drei Wochen komponierte Vargher neun Songs für das Album. Kurze Zeit später vereinbarte die Band eine Kooperation mit dem deutschen Label Vàn Records, um das Debütalbum zu veröffentlichen, das den Titel Total Heresy tragen wird. Es wurde in mehreren Studios in Schweden, den Niederlanden und Deutschland aufgenommen.

Das erste Album des britischen Produzenten und Songwriters seit "Rennen" von 2017 wird am 4. November 2022 auf Vinyl und CD veröffentlicht. Nachdem er zuvor längere Zeit in Wien und Los Angeles gelebt hat, wohnt der in London geborene SOHN nun in den Pinienwäldern von Katalonien, Spanien, und es ist diese neue Umgebung, die ihn zur aktuellen Single "Segre" inspiriert hat. "Trust" markiert für den Solokünstler eine seismische Verschiebung in der Wahrnehmung und Ausrichtung und spiegelt SOHNs neue Verantwortung als Vater von drei Kindern wider. Der Umzug von Los Angeles in die Ruhe Kataloniens und die Erfahrung der Elternschaft veränderten seine Einstellung und auch seine Arbeitsweise: "Ich spürte eine Offenheit, die ich vorher nicht kannte, und mir wurde klar, dass ich es nicht mehr allein schaffen konnte - mir fehlten Gemeinschaft und Freundschaft im Leben und im kreativen Prozess", sagt SOHN. Zum ersten Mal in seiner jahrzehntelangen Karriere lud der Produzent andere ein, ihm bei der Verwirklichung eines neuen Albums zu helfen, und kehrte nach LA zurück (wo er "Rennen" aufgenommen hatte), um mit Yakob, Mike Sonier, Chris Tabron, Jesse Boykins III, Ryan Linvill, Noah Le Gros und Emile Mosseri zu arbeiten. Gemeinschaft, Intimität, Familie und Offenheit sind die Schlüsselthemen auf "Trust", wenn der britische Produzent über sein vergangenes Leben (Wien in 'Figureskating, Neusiedlersee') und seine gegenwärtige Realität ('Montardit', 'Segre') reflektiert. Indem er seinen kreativen Prozess für andere öffnet, lädt Toph Taylor den Hörer dazu ein, sein bisher intimstes und persönlichstes Werk zu erleben. "Auf dem Debütalbum "Tremors" war es so, als wäre ich hinter Glas, aber auf "Trust" fühlt es sich an, als könnte man in diesem Raum sitzen, und nicht nur alleine, man sitzt mit mir, einigen Musikern, einigen Freunden in einem Zimmer."

This extraordinary NYC trio combines free jazz and post-punk with pointed commentary about issues of race, gender, the pandemic, and political autonomy.

Rose Tang, a Mongol from Sichuan, sings/recites and plays guitar, piano, and percussion. Tenor saxophonist Ayumi Ishito, from Japan, plays in a plethora of bands along the jazz/rock spectrum. Drummer, composer, and educator Wen-Ting Wu, from Taiwan, combines jazz drive and classical rigor.

The group came together to play one song at an event. ESP-Disk’, already familiar with the separate work on the NYC scene of all three members, immediately invited them to make an album. After intensive rehearsals, the members recorded the album in a one-day session, then reunited during the pandemic to add words about its effect to an existing instrumental on “8 Steps/7 O’Clock.” This album is simultaneously part of ESP-Disk's Drive To Revive Weird Rock and an extension of the label's famed free-jazz legacy.

Im Jahre 1989 fasste RM alle die Lieder, die er bis dahin aus dem Zusammenleben mit seinen Kindern
geschrieben hatte, in einem Album zusammen, dem er den Titel „Mein Apfelbäumchen“ gab. Das gleichnamige Lied geht auf ein Zitat Martin Luthers zurück „Wenn ich wüsste, dass morgen die Welt unterginge,
so würde ich heute noch mein Apfelbäumchen pflanzen“. RM sagte damals zu dem Projekt: „Ich glaube,
Kinder zu haben, ist das aufregendste Abenteuer, dass wir erleben können. Es ist der schwerste Beruf und
die größte Herausforderung, die ich mir denken kann, und die glücklichste Erfahrung zugleich. Der Künstler
wollte damit auch in der Tat ein Zeichen der Hoffnung setzen, indem er alle Einkünfte aus diesem Album
der Deutschen Kinderkrebshilfe spendete. Für das Cover wählte er das berührende Bild „Das kranke Kind“
von Käthe Kollwitz mit der Erlaubnis ihrer Erben und gegen den erbitterten Widerstand seiner Plattenfirma,
„Mit so einem Cover wird niemand die Platte kaufen“, hieß es aus der Chefetage. Es wurde das erfolgreichste Album in Reinhard Meys Karriere. 1991 gab es Gold für das Album und die Mildred-Scheel-Medaille
für den größten privaten Einzelspender der Deutschen Krebshilfe, und 2007 wurde das Album mit Platin
ausgezeichnet. Auf Wunsch der Freunde des Vinyls, kommt jetzt eine Sonderedition, als 2LP auf grünem
Vinyl - grün für die Farbe der Hoffnung, und grün für die Farbe des Apfelbäumchens, das bis heute Jahr
für Jahr reiche Früchte für die Deutsche Kinderkrebshilfe trägt.

Damian Schwartz makes a welcome return to Pulp for his third full-length album, La Sal De Tu Especie. The 11 track record was written over the last three years as a way of coping with some tough experiences and features remixes
from K15 and Gifted & Blessed. It once again finds the Madrid producer serving up the sort of richly musical house that has always stood him apart.

Schwartz has been away for a while but emerged in the early 2000s with an artful take on house music. As a student of jazz, composition and bass, his intricate grooves have always been embellished with real melodic craftsmanship. In the past, they have come on this label, Esperanza and A Harmless Deed which he co-runs with Jose Cabrera. He has put out two albums before now and also works under the Epiphany alias as a producer and live act. He is a real master of his analog machinery and someone who never fails to bring fresh ideas. This superbly adventurous and widescreen new album proves that once again and shows off diverse influences such as 90s broken beat by acts like Hanna and 4 Hero, the early IDM of LFO and Aphex Twin and the Detroit house and electro styles of greats such as Juan Atkins, Teknotika, Marcellus Pittman and Kyle Hall.

It kicks off with Renacido which is a cinematic synth opener that places you into orbit. La Elipa is expansive and jazzy house with cosmic chord work over the tight, punchy kicks and Lopp then gets physical with broken beat drums and funky bass dancing around each other to uplifting effect. The superb Zwei Danke is another masterclass in off-grid beat programming and soulful machine sounds that captures the essence of early Detroit house.

It is remixed by K15, a vital London beatmaker with credits on labels like Eglo and Wild Oats. His version showcases rugged, lo-fi and dusty drums softened by heart-melting chords and angelic vocal coos.

Schwartz's 'Morro Da Urca' is a suspensory ambient interlude that makes way for the crisp electro-funk and starry-eyed pads of 'Rufo,' then 'Meco' cuts loose
with boogie bass and glistening drums and perc that voyage through a whole eco-system of bright, nebulous synths. 'Mika' is another out of this world house composition with majestic leads and pixelated pads that bring warmth and future soul. There is real electricity in the freeform keys and corrugated drums of Coney Island that will ensure any dance floor takes off.

Final remixer Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker aka GB (Gifted & Blessed) is a composer and sound artist whose music is a constant exploration of the bridge between the technological and the ancestral. He flips 'Loop' into an Afro-future jazz dance with infectious percussion and expressive chords that never rest.

Trip Recordings follows the huge success of its first three releases with a third double-vinyl album, once more curated by label owner Nina Kraviz and featuring gatefold artwork by in-house artist Tombo. The release draws on contributions from established Trip members Kraviz, Population One and Nikita Zabelin, in addition to new artists added to its expending roster including K-Hand, Philipp Gorbachev, Vladimir Dubyshkin and Roma Zuckerman.As established with the label's first three releases, TRP004 will function as a soundtrack to a scenario and its accompanying artwork from Kraviz and Tombo. The title 'Ivan, Come On! Unlock The Box!' (, ! !) is inspired by the track contributed by Philipp Gorbachev (Comeme/PG Tunes), from which Kraviz has extrapolated a story of a rule-defying Russian maverick who is 'searching for the key to the future'.Set for release in mid-November, TRP004's two twelve-inches orbit around a nucleus of talent drawn from label boss Nina Kraviz's homeland of Russia. In addition to 'I Believe I Can Fly (KLM Delayed Flight Version) - one of her own 'road tracks' produced during the producer's hectic global touring schedule - Kraviz has enlisted a quartet of her countrymen for this latest collection. Philipp Gorbachev contributes his most uncompromisingly techno track yet, while Moscow's Nikita Zabelin follows his label debut on TRP003 ('De Niro Is Concerned') with the sinister minimalism of 'Bells'. In addition, TRP003 marks the label debuts of Vladimir Dubyshkin and Roma Zuckerman, both of whom were recommended to Kraviz by Zabelin. The former - a true outsider, just 17 years of age and based in the remote Russian town of Tambov - follows an early 2015 LP for SUB-AMP Records with the disorienting off-kilter techno of 'Lose Yourself', while the latter marks his first ever release despite years of producing with the unsettling 'Geburt Part 2'.

Completing TRP004 are two defiantly individual international artists: K-HAND makes her Trip debut following a two-decade career that's seen her become on of Detroit's true underground, and relatively unsung, heroes. Her contribution, 'The Box', finds her clipping effortlessly within Trip's aesthetic, with a heady textured acid potboiler. Two more Barcode Population tracks, excavated from a mine of undiscovered Nineties-made rarities, complete the release with furiously paced techno rollers which will remain strictly vinyl-only.

Seine zärtlich hingetupfte, wehmütig-elegische Version des Joy-Division-Klassikers 'Love Will Tears Us Apart‘ schreibt dem eher düsteren Original ein hoffnungsvolles Element ein, 'Annie’s Song' von John Denver wird bei Fitzsimmons zur anmutigen Meditation, Peter Gabriels 'Solsbury Hill' zum intim berückenden Kammerspiel. Bereits an diesen Beispielen lässt sich das beeindruckend breite Spektrum des Albums ablesen, das zudem Songs von Künstler:innen wie Sarah Siskind, Chelsea Cutler, Sufjan Stevens und Iron & Wine enthält. 'Diese Vielstimmigkeit war mir wichtig', sagt Fitzsimmons. 'Ansonsten gab es eigentlich keine Regeln. Das sind alles Songs, die ich liebe. Die Bedeutung der Songs für mich persönlich war mir wichtiger als ihre Popularität. Ich habe allerdings bewusst darauf verzichtet, allzu offensichtliche Heldinnen und Helden wie Joni Mitchell und Bob Dylan zu covern.' Die Songs auf 'Covers, Vol. 1' kommen aus verschiedensten Ländern, Genres, Epochen und haben unterschiedliche Bekanntheitsgrade. Bei Fitzsimmons aber werden sie alle eins, es ist eine Anverwandlung der denkbar wunderbarsten Art. Erfüllt von der Liebe zu den Originalen, aber versehen mit der einmaligen Signatur dieses besonderen Künstlers. Die Geschichten, die William ganz konkret mit diesen Songs verbinden, sind so vielfältig wie die Musik selbst.

Das neue Spoon Remix-Album "Lucifer on the Moon" ist das schwerkraftlose Pendant zu "Lucifer on the Sofa". Das zehnte Album der Band aus Austin wurde von Grund auf überarbeitet und von On-U Sound-Gründer und UK-Dub-Ikone Adrian Sherwood neu interpretiert. "Lucifer on the Moon" nahm zunächst in Form von ein paar Remixen für die Singles des aktuellen Spoon-Albums Gestalt an. Frontmann Britt Daniel gab Sherwood zwei Empfehlungen: "Vermeide Dinge, die auf Band nicht möglich wären" und "Füge hinzu, was immer du möchtest, je weniger modern, desto besser." Die Zusammenarbeit sollte nicht überraschen: Die Dub-inspirierte Produktion zieht sich durch Spoons klassische Tracks, von "Finer Feelings" bis "Inside Out". Sherwood ist ein bewährter Kollaborateur, der bereits mit Lebenslauf Partnerschaften mit bedeutenden Künstlern wie The Fall, Jah Wobble und Mark Stewart enthält. Die ersten Ergebnisse gefielen beiden Parteien und Sherwood wurde beauftragt, an weiteren Songs zu arbeiten - und dann an noch ein paar mehr. Stargeigerin Anne-Sophie Mutter und Cellist Pablo Ferrández, einer der vielversprechendsten Newcomer der Klassik, veröffentlichen ein gemeinsames Album mit dem Doppelkonzert von Brahms und dem selten zu hörenden Klaviertrio von Clara Schumann bei Sony Classical am 4. November 2022. Die Einspielung erscheint als CD, Vinyl und digital.Anne-Sophie Mutter hat für diese Zusammenarbeit mit ihrem Protegé, dem Cellisten und Sony Classical Exklusiv-Künstler Pablo Ferrández, das Konzert für Violine, Violoncello und Orchester a-moll op. 102 von Johannes Brahms mit der Tschechischen Philharmonie und dem Dirigenten Manfred Honeck sowie das rare Klaviertrio g-moll op. 17 von Clara Schumann mit dem Pianisten und langjährigen musikalischen Partner Lambert Orkis aufgenommen. Das Album ist ab dem 4. November 2022 bei Sony Classical erhältlich.Cellist Pablo Ferrández, der für sein hochgelobtes Debütalbum "Reflections" bei Sony Classical den Opus Klassik-Preis 2021 als "Nachwuchskünstler des Jahres" erhielt, war Mitglied von Anne-Sophie Mutters handverlesenem Ensemble Mutter's Virtuosi. Anne-Sophie Mutter zählt seit ihrer frühen Zusammenarbeit mit Herbert von Karajan, mit dem sie 1983 auch ihr erstes Brahm Doppelkonzert aufnahm, zweifellos zu den Größen der Klassik-Welt. Neben ihrem überragenden Können und hohen Ansehen hat sie sich stets dafür eingesetzt, neue Generationen von Streichern zu fördern und zu unterstützen, beispielsweise in der von ihr ins Leben gerufenen Anne-Sophie Mutter Stiftung zur Förderung von musikalisch Hochbegabten, darunter auch Pablo Ferrández.Das Doppelkonzert von Johannes Brahms nahmen beide Künstler live in Prag im Januar 2022 mit der Tschechischen Philharmonie unter Manfred Honeck auf, nachdem sie bereits in Madrid und Oxford mit demselben Werk aufgetreten waren. Das Konzert ist ein Kammermusikwerk mit symphonischer Wirkung, eine anregende Mischung von musikalischem Miteinander, wie auch Konfrontation. In der Zusammenarbeit mit Pablo Ferrández erlebte Anne-Sophie Mutter eine "frische, aufgeschlossene und neue" künstlerische Partnerschaft mit einem Musiker, der ihrer Meinung nach "an der Spitze" der neuen Generation von Cellisten steht. Clara Schumann, künstlerisch untrennbar mit Johannes Brahms verbunden, war eine weibliche Komponistin in einer Männerwelt und wurde oftmals und für lange Zeit übersehen. "Beide bewunderten sich künstlerisch und Johannes Brahms fragte sie oft um Rat", so Anne-Sophie Mutter. Ihre menschliche und künstlerische Beziehung verband und inspirierte sie. Für die Geigerin spielte bei der Auswahl des Repertoires auch die Vielfalt eine wichtige Rolle, um auch eine von der Musikgeschichte vernachlässigte Komponistin ins Rampenlicht zu rücken. Clara Schumanns Klaviertrio g-moll von 1846 ist eines ihrer besten Werke - ein Stück voller Turbulenz, beeindruckender Komplexität und tiefer Sehnsucht, das Anne-Sophie Mutter und insbesondere ihren regelmäßigen Klavierpartner Lambert Orkis zu einer neuen Dimension musikalischer Konversation animierte. Die Studio-Aufnahme entstand in München und ist unvergleichlich in ihrem Fokus auf Clara Schumanns individueller Musikalität."Es inspiriert mich, mit Pablo solch ein musikalisches Gespräch zu führen", sagt Anne-Sophie Mutter über ihre Arbeit mit Pablo Ferrández. "Anne-Sophie Mutter ist die ideale Künstlerin", sagt Pablo Ferrández. "Hinter ihrem Spiel steckt immer eine Idee, alles geschieht aus einem bestimmten Grund. Andreas Gabaliers zweites Album „Herzwerk“ war eben dies, es entsprang direkt aus seinem Herzen. Und

Pedro Lima was certainly the most iconic singer from Sao Tomé Island. Born in 1944, his career began at teenage, with his faithful band Os Leonenses, who were mostly members of his family and shared most of his musical life; and lasted until his death on January 31st, 2019. Until the very end, he kept performing big events all around the country, and was among the very few singers and bands from Sao Tomé & Principe that recorded in Luanda Angola for N'Gola and Merengue labels in the 70's, and in Lisbon for the essential IEFE imprint in the 80's.

Liam Power formed By The Sea in 2011, the band’s debut single Waltz Away coming out on The Great Pop Supplement label that year. In November 2012 the band released their self-titled album through Dell’Orso and GPS. The NME noted how there was “a beautifully bruised element to this Wirral act’s debut from the subdued, morbid production to Liam Power’s heroically battle-weary vocals”.

They have also often been tagged for their kitchen-sink dramas though they’re more akin to something like ‘Wish You Were Here’, both funny and dark without being maudlin. There’s an end of pier melancholy to By The Sea records though, something more than a scribble of sentiment on a souvenir postcard.

For their second LP ‘Endless Days, Crystal Skies the band turned over production duties to their friend Bill Ryder-Jones (formerly of The Coral) and released that bounty of melodic pop in 2014. It’s a partnership they have retained for the new third album ‘Heaven Knows Magnolia’ released on limited purple vinyl, CD and digital formats on October 21st. The song

'Transplant Rejection’ is the second in a trilogy of cassette albums released via Muscut in the latter half of 2022. The work of Estonian artist and IDA Radio co-founder Robert Nikolajev, this collection of seven ‘almost’ dark ambient tracks embody the melancholy of autumn whilst hinting at the forthcoming eternal winter. A man with many hats, Nikolajev operates on the fringes of the leftfield house underground for labels such as Incienso, Collect-Call and Sad Fun as well as being one half of the sporadic DIMA DISK act with Ragnar Rahouja. Eschewing the more rhythmic side of his productions for this Muscut tape, Nikolajev taps into the fictional soundtrack atmospheres the label is known for and brings his own brand of wistful, introspective world-building by way of machine harmony to the now Tallinn based imprint.



There’s a lo-fi, grainy quality running throughout the collection, a kind of sepia-toned nostalgia that envelops the listener and disorientates any perception of time or place. Buried vocal fragments sit in the mix on ‘Stifled’ alongside decaying synthesiser drones whilst ‘DDM’ channels an edgy post-rock dirge with its use of sagged bass guitar. Overall, an inspired look into the more ‘at home’ side of this increasingly prolific Estonian artist.

Horse Lords return with Comradely Objects, an alloy of erudite influences and approaches given frenetic gravity in pursuit of a united musical and political vision. The band's fifth album doesn't document a new utopia, so much as limn a thrilling portrait of revolution underway. Comradely Objects adheres to the essential instrumental sound documented on the previous four albums and four mixtapes by the quartet of Andrew Bernstein (saxophone, percussion, electronics), Max Eilbacher (bass, electronics), Owen Gardner (guitar, electronics), and Sam Haberman (drums). But the album refocuses that sound, pulling the disparate strands of the band's restless musical purview tightly around propulsive, rhythmic grids. Comradely Objects ripples, drones, chugs, and soars with a new abandon and steely control. This transformation came, in part, due to circumstance. Sidelined from touring their early 2020 album The Common Task in a world turned upside down, Horse Lords promptly returned to their Baltimore practice space and began piecing together the music that became Comradely Objects (Bernstein, Eilbacher, and Gardner have since relocated to Germany). Removed from their tried and true method of refining new music on the road, the quartet invested less energy ensuring live playability and more rehearsing and recording. The deliberate writing and tracking process, a rarity since the band's earliest days, led to a collection of pieces that signal a new peak of creativity and musical heft without devolving into studio sprawl or frippery. Comradely Objects reflects familiar elements of Horse Lords' established palette_the mantra-like repetition of minimalism and global traditional musics, complex counterpoint, the subtleties of microtonality, a breadth of timbres and textures drawn from all across the avant-garde_with some standout stylistic innovations. MAG has been, since its foundation in 1953, an essential label in the music scene of Peru, allowing the development of the careers of both tropical artists and musicians of other genres. At the head was Don Manuel Antonio Guerrero, its founder, whose name comes from the acronym of the label itself (M.A.G.). In 2021 MAG was acquired by the Spanish company Distrolux SL, owner of the Munster and Vampisoul record labels, after years of previous collaborations in which some of the most emblematic titles in the catalog were already reissued for the international market: Nils Jazz Ensemble, Sonora Casino, Traffic Sound, Al Valdez, Pax_ "14 MAGníficos" is a 14-track compilation that celebrates a new era in the history of the label, now under the Vampisoul umbrella, with a selection of astonishing dance floor-oriented gems. A Deep Lake is an easy, breezy, sky-blue house tune with a healthy swing and a carefree bass line. The unhurried slowbuild evokes just the kind of outdoor jam that Ospovat frequents. There are some small surprises as the record goes on, though. Take To The Sky is a sun soaked EP with four dance floor heaters soundtracking the summer; capturing the euphoria and release of collectively gracing sweaty dance floors again. Inspired by nostalgic 90s UK club music/Summer of Love, incorporating broken-beat, garage and street-soul rhythms carried by melodic ear-worm vocals performed and produced by J. Caesar with co-production and mixing by Z Lovecraft (Rhythm Section). This year the East London based producer, singer/songwriter blessed the BBC airwaves with the EP title track, ‘Take To The Sky’ premiered on 1Xtra by Jamz Supernova originally featured on the well-received Scenic Route compilation and has been testing out dubs at his club night, Space Ghettos co-run by Qendresa and Albertina.

The opening track “I Told You” is a balearic love letter of gratitude to his friends, “ all I had was love, love of my friends, love of music and love of living.” his sentiment of meaningful relationships evoked through his sparse vocal arrangements, sprinkled over downtempo street soul drums. Take To The Sky, similarly paying homage to the underground Black dance music of the 90's, is a tale of escapism whilst Give Me To The Night is a celebration of hedonism featuring Jim’s sultry vocals punctuated by broken-beat drums. Lost In Space co-produced by Z Lovecraft is a moody, Garage/D’n’B infused B-side with disorientating breaks capturing the essence of romantic turmoil he found himself in during COVID. In his words “Take To The Sky EP is an ode to freedom”.

DjeuhDjoah & Lieutenant Nicholson make praise of slowness (« Pas si vite »), address environmental issues (« Coeur béton »), social statements on (« Police », « Raie publiques », « clic »), childhood on (« Bola Mba ») , the post colonial relation between Africa and the other continents. Love is also really well presented ( « Thé à la menthe «, « Ping Pong ») and why not sailing to Essaouira in Morocco ?

During the summer of 2020 , when the french national radio asked them to perform a live cover , our french funky duo chose the famous « Né quelque part » by Maxime Leforestier released in 1987. Their Suave interpretation, haunting beat and spatial & languid atmosphere give a fantastic tribute to this beautiful melody and strong lyrics. They found a very intimate link with chorus in Zulu, harking back to the strong connection they made with South Africa during their last tour.
It became clear that they needed to put this track on their new album , as their now club remix classic « Bwe Dlo « performed with their friend David Walters.

After their tour in South Africa, they met « Cool Affair », the musician and electro house producer in Johannesburg who made a beautiful remix of « Aimé Césaire » which close perfectly this new opus. Recorded at « Le triangle des Bermudes » the home studio of Lieutenant Nicholson, produced and mixed by him with a electro analog sound dear to them. Horns, live drums, percussions and vocal choir were recorded at Bastille village at the label basement , even during the pandemic… On 2+, we can also hear the swirls of Antoine Berjeaut at the trumpet and bugle, magic keys from Florian Pellissier , two new flagships of the French jazz scene.

Once again, DjeuhDjoah & Lieutenant Nicholson push the boundaries of the traditional « French song « to make the world dance. They want to keep their international audience , from Australia, Japan, Usa, South Africa to name a few the dance floors of the world will ignite with this new album . Drive at Night wurde 2021 von den beiden langjährigen Freunden und Bandkollegen Joachim Nordlund und Johan Lindstedt von Astral Doors und SunStrike gegründet. "Switch Records was started by myself alongside Bill Campbell in the early eighties", says Aaron Harry - a library music producer who began using Lansdowne Studios in Holland Park for his productions on the renowned Bruton Music label. The studios had been operating there since the late 1950s, becoming the breeding ground for some key & early UK jazz and pop records (owner Adrian Kerridge teamed up with Joe Meek to lay down the first recordings there in 1958). It was here that Harry and engineer Chris Dibble started to work together as a regular team. After spending some time at the studio observing them in acton, Kerridge and (Burton MD) Robin Phillps "recognised what a good team Chris and I had become. So, it was inevitable that I would also make pop music alongside Production Library Music."

The output of the relatively obscure Switch label is the result of this work, and Freestyle has licensed 3 of the most hard to come by 12"s as part of their series of rare & foundation UK funk & soul records. This one, Steppin' Out on the Groove was written by the late Tony Jackson, "a renowned session singer/musician that I had worked with on numerous occasions" says Harry, and also a key brit-funk figure who formed part of a string of UK groups throughout the 70s and early 80s (Sweet Dreams, Midnight, Ritz & Indigo) and later went on to be successful as lead singer in Rage. He died in 2001. Backed up with a killer instrumental that really lets the solid production shine, this one is an essential in any DJ or collector's bag.
