Izil Recordings, founded by Moroccan electronic music pioneer Amine K, is a platform dedicated to showcasing the depth and diversity of Morocco's underground scene. Named after the Berber word for "pure," the label stays true to its name embodying unfiltered artistic expression, blending rich cultural heritage with contemporary electronic innovation. Izil's debut release sets the tone for this vision, featuring a collaboration between Amine K and WAHM, alongside remixes from Rodriguez Jr. and Denis Horvat.
"Kill the Anger" introduces the label with a deep, pulsating energy, merging hypnotic rhythms with raw intensity to create a bold statement for Izil's sonic identity. Rodriguez Jr. elevates the track with a melodic, atmospheric touch, adding layers of emotive synths that transform it into an expansive and immersive experience. On the B-side, "Sundance" unfolds as a warm, flowing journey of organic textures and deep, rhythmic movement, capturing the essence of Moroccan influences within a contemporary electronic framework. Denis Horvat then reshapes it into a darker, driving rework, injecting moody synths and crisp percussion to craft a club-ready, high-energy take.
This release marks Izil Recordings' first venture, laying the groundwork for more forward-thinking, African centric music to come.

Since 2020, and from coast to coast, indie-rockers Fib have been rewiring brains with their singular, jangly sound and furiously tight live performances. Fib's members connected in Portland through their love of punk, friendship, and their shared exceptional musical abilities. After releasing their debut self-titled tape in 2021 and touring the US, the band picked up and moved across the country after falling in love with Philadelphia. The city quickly warmed to Fib's controlled mania- the band putting on the tightest show imaginable, and then, at the end of the set, destroying their instruments in total chaos mode. They matched Philadelphia's freak- fitting like a fingerless glove. Now, connecting with Philly label Julia's War, the group is releasing their debut full-length record Heavy Lifting- a musical odyssey exploring arty pop, punk and progressive rock- while simultaneously breaking free from genre and giving the listener a vividly surreal auditory experience. With Heavy Lifting, Fib shed their early, scrappy, lofi limitations, and embraced a new, expansive and warm recording capture. This bigger sound allows the group to put their technical skill, harmonious vocals, and hyper-infectious songwriting on full display. Songs like 'Mutuals' and 'Say' are frenetic and bouncy- shifting through virtuosic arrangements held together with intermittent, powerful hooks. With tunes like 'Dotted Line' and 'PS,' the band settles deeper into the grooves and songwriting allowing the listener to zone in and bob their head a bit more. While the nine tracks that comprise Heavy Lifting are equally unique and invigorating showcasing the members' intricate guitar tangles and polyrhythms, the album is holistically composed- a greater sum than its parts. The release would easily sit well for fans of new bands like Palm, TAGABOW, and Water From Your Eyes, but would just as easily be a welcome addition for record heads who love bands like This Heat, Television, and Psychic TV. While this might all be hard to believe, and their name is Fib- it's no lie. Fib's Heavy Lifting is a vibrant, moving and endless sonic rainbow. Lisa Wilhelms neues Album SO CLOSE erscheint am 9. Mai 2025 bei BERTHOLD records und bringt eine spannende Weiterentwicklung ihrer Musik. In Zusammenarbeit mit Lukas Wögler (Saxophon), Moritz Langmaier (Klavier), Franz Blumenthal (Bass) und Lisa Wilhelm (Komposition und Schlagzeug) kombiniert sie lyrischen Jazz mit verträumten Pop-Klängen. Das Album erweitert das ursprüngliche Jazz-Quartett um Gesangseinlagen von Mareike Riegert, Nate Dailey und Nico-Alexander Wilhelm sowie ein Streichquartett. Wilhelms Kompositionen sind tief von persönlichen Erlebnissen und literarischen Entdeckungen inspiriert. Die Reise von SO CLOSE führt die Hörer durch intime Erinnerungen und emotionale Momente, die in Klänge übersetzt werden. Martha Argerich - eine Legende am Klavier Der Begriff „lebende Legende“ trifft auf Martha Argerich zu, deren schillernde Mischung aus Virtuosität, Einfühlungsvermögen, Eklektizismus, Großzügigkeit und Geheimnis sie zu einer Pianistin von unvergleichlicher Faszination macht. Die in Argentinien 1941 geborene und in Wien ausgebildete Pianistin, die 1965 den Chopin-Wettbewerb gewann, ist zu einer manchmal schwer fassbaren Figur geworden, deren Auftritte und Aufnahmen mit Spannung erwartet werden. Martha Argerich ist zudem eine großzügige Mentorin für junge Künstler, insbesondere durch ihr ehemaliges Progetto Martha Argerich beim Lugano Festival in der Schweiz. Nun erscheint eine Auswahl ihrer berühmten Konzerteinspielungen auf Vinyl.

Die griechischen Progressive Rocker King Garcia präsentieren ihr Debütalbum 'Hamelin'. Wenn Ennio Morricone eine Band mit Russian Circles gründen würde, würde sie wahrscheinlich genauso klingen! Eine Empfehlung für Fans von Bands wie Russian Circles, V.I.C. und Mogwai.

Music for dancefloors when the night turns uncanny.

Vyvyan is Bonar Bradberry’s solo project stripping club music to its core while expressing a deep love for dance music culture. His 2022 debut album, Y, balanced rough-edged percussion with warped melodies. "Waterslide EP" pushes this sound further with Gallegos stepping in to remix the monumental title track.

Bradberry is also known for his work as one half of the Leeds-based duo PBR Streetgang.

Die Jazzwelt darf sich freuen, dass Blue Note Records das außergewöhnliche Talent von Trompeter Brandon Woody erkannt hat. Der junge, in Baltimore geborene und ansässige Künstler hat in den letzten Jahren in der US-Jazzwelt aufhorchen lassen. „Brandon ist einer der seltenen Künstler, der sowohl eine lebendige Vision als auch die Fähigkeit und das Wissen besitzt, diese umzusetzen“, sagt Blue-NotePräsident Don Was.

Der vielseitige Musiker hat trotz seiner jungen Jahre bereits einen ganz individuellen Sound zwischen Modern Jazz und souligen Elementen entwickelt, der an seinen großen Kollegen Freddie Hubbard erinnert. Um sich herum hat er eine herausragende Band versammelt und für sein Debütalbum sechs mitreißende Eigenkompositionen aufgenommen. „For The Love Of It All“ bezeichnet er als Hommage an die Kraft der Liebe. Die Besetzung besteht aus Troy Long (Klavier, Orgel, Rhodes, Keyboards), Quincy Phillips (Schlagzeug) und Michael Saunders (Bass), sowie den Special Guests Imani Grace (Gesang) und Vittorio Stropoli (Aux-Synthesizer).

“Ben Webster & Associates” war 1959 das dritte und letzte Projekt, für das der Produzent Norman Granz die beiden Tenorsax-Ikonen Ben Webster und Coleman Hawkins im Studio zusammenbrachte. Als dritter Tenorist gesellte sich bei dem entspannt swingenden Austauch noch Budd Johnson hinzu, von dem Ben Webster in seiner Jugend in Kansas City seine ersten Saxofonstunden erhalten hatte.

Dark Horse – „Dark Horse“ erschien im Dezember 1974 und krönte ein produktives Jahr für George Harrison, in dem er sein eigenes Plattenlabel Dark Horse gegründet, in seinem Haus im englischen Friar Park ein Aufnahmestudio eingerichtet und eine ehrgeizige Tournee durch Nordamerika absolviert hatte.

“The Atacama Experience” wurde von dem Jazzviolinisten Jean-Luc Ponty als eine musikalische Reise konzipiert. Diese Reise beginnt in der Einleitung mit einer Pariser Straßenszene, der dreizehn Songs folgen, die den Hörer durch verschiedene Länder, eine Reihe unterschiedlichster Impressionen und Emotionen sowie in die musikalische Vergangenheit und Gegenwart führen. Die Aufnahmen entstanden zwischen Januar 2006 und Februar 2007. In diesem Zeitraum bereiste Ponty mit seiner Band diverse Kontinente und absolvierte Auftritte in Südamerika, Europa, Russland, den USA und Indien. Zwischendurch kehrte er immer wieder nach Frankreich zurück, um die frischen Eindrücke und neuen Einsichten in Einspielungen für dieses Projekt zu verwandeln.

Der Dresdner Komponist und Produzent Sven Helbig kreierte anlässlich des 80. Jahrestages des Endes des Zweiten Weltkriegs das Requiem A, das die Opfer des Krieges ehrt und ein tiefes Plädoyer für den Frieden darstellt. Requiem A vereint liturgische und neue Texte. Das ‘A’ im Titel steht für ‘Anfang’ und mahnt in poetischen Bildern zu Versöhnung und Neubeginn. „Aufbruch“, „Asche“ und „Atmen“ sind Schlüsselwörter in den Texten, die einen Weg aus der Trauer in das Leben suchen.

Die Uraufführung fand am 9. Februar 2025 in der Dresdner Kreuzkirche statt, aufgeführt vom Dresdner Kreuzchor, der Sächsischen Staatskapelle und dem gefeierten Bassbariton René Pape. Am 8. Mai, dem 80. Jahrestag des Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges, wird das Werk auf dem Heldenplatz vor der Hofburg in Wien aufgeführt. Die Aufnahme erscheint am 9. Mai 2025 bei der Deutschen Grammophon. Dieses ergreifende Werk soll als universelle Botschaft der Erinnerung, der Versöhnung und des kulturellen Austauschs dienen.

Die Verwandlung von Geschichte in einen Mythos macht persönliche Erfahrungen universell - ein Prozess, der in der Musik der russischen Produzentin Yana Kedrina, bekannt als Kedr Livanskiy, eine zentrale Rolle spielt. Auf ihrem fünften Album, "Myrtus Myth", entwirft sie eine experimentelle Pop-Reise, die von persönlichen und öffentlichen Mythologien inspiriert ist und Esoterik mit erzählerischer Tiefe verbindet. Livanskiys Musik war schon immer von Geheimnissen durchdrungen, von den ätherischen Synthesizern ihres Debüts "January Sun" bis zu den spirituellen Harmonien von "Liminal Soul". Mit "Myrtus Myth" wagt sie sich noch weiter vor und zieht Parallelen zu ihrem zweiten Album "Ariadna", während sie ihre Klangpalette mit dem Produzenten Flaty erweitert, der für seine futuristische, genreübergreifende Arbeit bekannt ist. Gemeinsam gehen sie über die Strukturen von Dance Music hinaus, integrieren Live-Instrumente und Einflüsse von Vaporwave bis Kate Bush. Zu den Höhepunkten des Albums gehören "Anna", eine von Fleetwood Mac inspirierte Pop-Elegie für eine verlorene Freundin, und "Purple Sadness", dessen knackige Synthies an den Cloud-Rap der frühen 2010er Jahre erinnern. Tracks wie "Agata Dreams" erinnern an 90s Electro-Pop, während "Spades on Hearts" ein hymnischer Aufruf zu den Waffen mit marschierenden Trommeln und hochfliegenden Vocals ist. Livanskiys Texte, die auf Russisch verfasst sind, bieten eine Heldenreise über 11 Tracks, die sich auf Mythen wie Orpheus stützen, um die dauerhafte Kraft der Kunst zu erkunden. Obwohl das Album stilistisch vielfältig ist, behält es durch seine mythische Erzählung seinen Zusammenhalt bei. Das eindringliche Schlussstück "Kali-Yuga" beklagt in zarten Harmonien eine verlorene Stadt und lässt den Hörer in einem traumhaften Dunst zurück. "Die letzten Jahre waren für viele schwierig", reflektiert Livanskiy. "Dieses Album erforscht den Schmerz durch das Mythische und Jenseitige." "Myrtus Myth" ist keine Tragödie, sondern eine Geschichte der Unverwüstlichkeit, die den Hörer auffordert, die Menschlichkeit im Mythos zu finden. Während die imaginären Welten verblassen, erinnert uns Livanskiy mit ihrem Werk daran, dass die reale Welt und die Zeit, die wir in ihr verbringen, bestehen bleibt.

‘Zeitgeist’, the debut LP from celebrated Italian electronic music producer Dukwa, begins with a timeless dancefloor equation; swung drums, a clattering cobwell and flickering hi-hats lurch forward into a serious bassline. Within seconds, dancers are flung into the house anthem ‘You Don’t Want It’ that’s equally raw and charismatic, sensual and powerful. For the next forty-five minutes of rhythm, melody and studio trickery, ‘Zeitgeist’ continues to bend time, eras and bodies.

Having released EPs on respected labels including Numbers, Gudu and Diynamic Records, invariably with the support of Jackmaster, Peggy Gou and Solomun, Dukwa folds into the Slacker85 philosophy with ease, laying down a statement of intent that’s squarely for the dancers. Indebted to a youth digging in Florence’s record stores, embracing the peerless Italian rave scene, as well as his recent appearances at Circoloco and Kappa Future, ‘Zeitgeist’ subverts it’s knowing title to dance between styles with an urgency you can feel in your heels.

Before long, Dukwa is smoothly oscillating between acid overdrive and weightless house on ‘Catch All’, while the balance between softness and severity is refined even further on ‘Show Me’, showcasing the record’s first euphoric breakdown, a heads down, hands up moment that sacrifices none of his organic flow. Ably mastering many corners of his record box, ‘Avec Moi’ makes a confident left turn into tunneling trance, interspersed with a sensual french vocal.

‘All You Need’ provides the record’s beating heart, Dukwa’s overarching philosophy front and center around layers of synthesised groove, build and release: “The world is full of fighting, ignorance and greed, but right here on the dancefloor - the rhythm’s all you need”. Meanwhile, ‘My Turn’ channels more cinematic instincts, zoning in on an elegant piano riff in order to unravel a quietly epic deep house trip.

As ‘Zeitgeist’ heads toward its conclusion, Dukwa effortlessly squeezes the most emotive juice from his well-oiled studio. ‘Sad Eyes’ possesses the emotional punch of many vintage end-of-night anthems, still driving yet touched with a wistful ecstasy. Finally, for closing passage ‘Stck1’, Dukwa truly lets the machines sing, capturing a brief symphony of harmonising modulations that dip into weirdo electronica, without ever skipping his signature beats.
