Imagine having a song go viral for 17 years - without even knowing it. That's exactly what happened to the German 1980s band FEX. And this isn't just any song - it's The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet, a track that puzzled music detectives for decades before finally being identified in November 2024. Now, it has been officially released - twice.

The Story in Brief:
Sometime around 1984, a song was broadcasted on NDR Radio. The name of the song was Subways Of Your Mind - only found out 40 years later in November 2024. Back then, a listener recorded the NDR show on cassette, a common practice at the time. Decades later, the tape resurfaced, but while most songs from the recording were identified, one remained an enigma. On March 18, 2007, the track was uploaded to the internet in an attempt to uncover its origins. Due to its now-iconic opening lyric, it was tentatively titled Like The Wind. Over time, the mystery deepened, and the song was given a nickname: The Most Mysterious Song - or simply TMMS.

Starting in 2019, a dedicated Reddit group, TheMysteriousSong, now boasting over 63,000 members, took up the search. They meticulously documented every lead, hoping to solve the riddle of the song's origins. Then, in 2024, the breakthrough: Reddit user marjin1412 reached out to musician Michael Hädrich after discovering a reference to his band FEX in an old newspaper article. Hädrich, FEX's keyboardist, provided a recording from an old demo cassette which included an alternative version of the song. On November 4, 2024, the mystery was officially solved: FEX was the band, Subways Of Your Mind was the title.

What Happened Next:
Since then, FEX has released two singles - both featuring Subways Of Your Mind - through the Berlin-based independent label The Outer Edge. First, the demo cassette version was pressed onto vinyl, as the original NDR radio recording remained lost (see EDGE-028). The Remastered Demo Mix single instantly topped Bandcamp's global charts, holding the #1 spot for several days. By then, it was clear: this was more than just an internet curiosity. A real fanbase had formed. Enthusiastic comments on the sales page ranged from "best post-punk song to ever exist" to "FEX themselves (are) perhaps the most underrated musicians of all time."

But the story didn't end there. A higher-quality version of the NDR radio recording was rediscovered in late december, remastered, and now sent for a second vinyl pressing: the TMMS Version. This new vinyl 7" is backed with Talking Hands another great and unissued song that was found on the demo cassette.

Fame Comes with a Price
Suddenly, time isn't standing still for FEX. The band had to come to terms with the fact that they had become Lostwave super stars. A FEX fan club quickly formed on Reddit, fan-hosted FEX parties are popping up, and the internet is demanding more - an album, merchandise, live performances. But how does a band prepare for a comeback after a 40-year hiatus?

For now, FEX is carefully considering their next steps. Their demo cassette contains six songs - and a few other recordings have resurfaced which probably could be restored and compiled. But foremost, a brand new re-recording of Subways Of Your Mind is in progress.

A highly respected figure for dancers and artists alike, Markus Suckut offers his signature built-to-last sound to Fuse with 'Moments'. In this style, confidence is key and Suckut provides soul to club music in a way few have been able to. Simple yet ever so refined, the German artist furthers his sound with the Belgian label with rolling tracks that reach beyond the dancefloor yet again. 'Moments' is just that, a collection of instances spent inside the mind or outwards into the world in order to move and connect.


The A1 remains usually the first impression of every record, so it makes sense that 'Patience' would mark the beginning of this eight release for the Brussels' club. A bubbly yet impactful track, 'Patience' rolls through six minutes in no time with eccentric percussion and a viscous low-end. Unafraid to break the codes in order to push his sound forward while respecting the essence of what makes the genre great, Suckut puts years of mastery at work in order to find balance and air between his elements. This impressive low-end rhythm is continued into 'Resurrection' - which is more of an exploration of dissonance and texture than its predecessor. With hi-hats whipping around the stereo field through metallic bends and a harmonic kick/bass, the record knows for what context 'Resurrection' is reserved for. 'Myth' then comes along to lighten the load with a positive groove and an extraverted arrangement, maintaining balance to the overall EP. Complete with a subtly modulating live-played percussion that echoes the character of a vocal and layered over an almost vintage drum sequence, the persistence of 'Myth' finds a sweet spot between techno and house, making it a versatile tool in almost any record bag. The soul of the EP, however, belongs to its title track 'Moments'. Appropriately named, this fourth piece concludes Markus Suckut's latest statement for the dancefloor. A suspension of time in structure as much as in melody, the producer takes the time to unveil each element of the record while maintaining a burning intriguing throughout. Kulture Galerie returns with its fourth vinyl compilation, showcasing a futuristic collection of Techno and Tech House tracks infused with hints of Braindance, Electro, and Acid. The compilation opens with tracks from London’s rising star YSANNE (Semi Delicious) and Rare Happiness, both delivering perfect dancefloor destroyers that have already been tested in clubs across Europe.

High-value dance record business once again from Studio Barnhus, as Austin, TX-based label debutant Fennec jams onto one slab of vinyl four cuts of the sort of dancefloor-driving yet warmly welcoming house music the Stockholm label is not NOT known for.

When it comes to this Deep Disco cut, Africano is one of those tracks that became a dancefloor favorite of Danielle Baldelli who during the 80s played Disco, African records, American R&B, and reggae to create what has been since become known as the Afro-Cosmic scene at the height of Club culture in the discotheques of Northern Italy. With Schokolino Choco Loco, Icelandic duo Stilluppsteypa brings a warped dispatch from the outside fringes of experimental sound--part valium-drenched dreamscape, part dadaistic radio hallucination. Like a nocturnal transmission from a parallel universe, the record drifts and mutates through layers of joyous abstraction, laced with a deadpan sense of humour, while at the same time it is strangely sensitive. This LP is less a collection of tracks than a slow-motion joyride through Stilluppsteypa's singular sonic universe--so hypnotic and absurd, it ends up warming your heart.

M.R.E. is Michiel Eskes - a hot new talent from Holland. His music is deep, emotional and full of finely tuned melodies, these two tracks show off his style perfectly. His two tracks on this EP were written especially for FT having been chased down for them since the label first heard his music. ReKab is back with his trademark deep techno and a 9 minute workout on his "Climbing High" track. "Always Having Fun" is a melody driven bubbling acid track on the flip, if you love ReKaB these are essential. FTV005 is limited to 150 copies and comes on coloured, marbled, eco-vinyl with an insert showing "Post Clubbing Exercises" for when you have thrown too many shapes on the dancefloor the night before!

Dream Log is the latest EP from French producer KX9000, blending electro-funk, space disco, Chicago house, and broken-beat into a captivating journey through diverse musical landscapes. Featuring collaborations with talented artists such as Nic Hanson and Corsica One, the project showcases KX9000's unique ability to merge genres and create dynamic, immersive soundscapes.

From the powerful disco-dub energy of 'Tonight's Ride' to the jazzy intricacy of 'Nuova Zone,' the EP explores a wide range of influences. 'Lost E Shop' blends retro video game nostalgia with electro-funk and city pop, while 'Over Fee' offers a soulful evolution of a years-long work. The EP concludes with 'Deepose Minute,' a deep house track that pays tribute to classic dancefloor sounds with a modern touch.

With Dream Log, KX9000 delivers his most accomplished project to date, a vibrant and emotionally resonant collection that captures the essence of his club performances and studio precision.

RNT takes a trip south with some fresh modern takes on a pair of Colombian tropicalia classics from the 1970s! Sisters Elia and Elizabeth Fleta recorded some of the most beloved rare groove from Baranquilla’s early-70s period, and when Jaime Tuiran (Vagabundo Club Social) brought the project to label owners Aaron Dae and JKriv, they jumped at the opportunity to work with such rarefied source material.

On the A side, the mysterious newcomer producer Demi Riquisimo crafts a synth-laden tropical opus of a remix of Elia y Elizabeth’s signature hit 'Alegria' and the ever solid Parisian Yuksek works the tune into a concise and mid tempo disco stomper.

On the flip, Bostonian-come-Colombian BOSQ turns 'Soy Una Nube' into an uptempo soul banger, and Baranquilla natives Vagabundo Club Social lend their homegrown organic and clubby style to their mix of 'Alegria'. The perfect blend of earthy OG soul with modern and musical production, this record is as colorful and vibrant as the streets of Baranquilla during Carnaval. And RNT is throwing in a 7Inch with solid new masters of the original songs on heavyweight wax, to boot!

Borghesia is an electronic music group, founded in 1982 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The band was formed by four members of alternative theatrical group Theatre FV-112/15: Dario Seraval, Aldo Ivancic, Neven Korda and Zemira Alajbegovic. They established FV Video to self-publish their video projects and FV Založba – the first independent record label in ex-Yugoslavia. Aldo and Dario took care of songwriting, production and recording while Zemira and Neven handled the visuals. In the late 80s the band signed to PIAS and went on to release a string of successful albums and played world-wide tours.

Clones was Borghesia's second album, self-released on cassette only in 1984. The band borrowed synthesizers (Roland SH-101, Casio VL-1, Korg Polysix) and a Roland 808 drum machine from friends. Every song was played live - no overdubs - and recorded to a cassette deck over a few nights at their club Disco FV during 1983-1984. The music on "Clones" is meant to accompany various video installations and performances. All of the songs are instrumental and feature various cutting edge techniques for 1983. Hypnotic, proto-techno and acid rhythms and synth lines. Music on the A Side of the LP is faster and club oriented while the B Side offers a drugged out soundtrack to get lost in.

All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley directly from the original master tape. Each LP is housed in a silver jacket with original gelatin print by photographer Jane Štravs. A fold-out poster is included with unreleased photos, original artwork and liner notes by Željko Luketić. After 28 years, Borghesia's "music for video" is finally appearing on vinyl for the first time.

The story behind this release goes something like this...

Our buddy and GAMM contributor Coflo spins at a dope house party, drops the A side 'Step Into A Black Whole' and the club literally explodes when the track hits the massive hip hop breakdown (KRS!) and returns and transforms into a jazzy Afrobeat house stomper. It's an +11 min long musical journey going from house to hip hop to Disco-Afrobeat. The GAMM representative in the house "feels it" and asks Coflo who's behind the tune, and after a few months, the connection is made with Emmaculate and DJ Spen to secure the release for GAMM.

A few weeks later, Emmaculate delivers a second track, 'Boogie On Disco Woman', which is a killer Funk/Disco/Soul rework with raw drums, nasty clavinets and soulful female vocals.
This could easily have been the feature track, but lands on the B side this time.

Another release, another artist in our Kooky family. Minube is a DJ and producer from Moldovia, an artist that needs no introduction due to lots of exceptional releases on top interesting labels and hours spent spinning music on the best clubs of Moldovia and Serbia. Through this EP Minube takes us straight to the dance floor. 2 original tracks by the Moldovian are quite raw, yet very dynamic and well-crafted. The other tracks (collabos with Andrey Djackonda and Osvit) show slightly different shades of minimal, but are also intriguing in terms of sound design and structures. The EP is quite diverse musically and it's up to a DJ which track to spin in a club, but it's a definitely release not to be missed in the months to come and more.

Sekhem returns with a beautiful split EP bringing together two artists with distinct yet complementary worlds. On the A-side, Charlou delivers three slow and textured tracks, blending ambient with retro atmospheres, to create a deep, cinematic intro. On the B-side, P.O brings a more club-oriented vibe, with haunting vocals and nostalgic synth lines that define his unique signature. A record filled with emotion, both intimate and powerful.

Danza Tribale opens a new chapter in 2025 with MAITAKE - ??, the debut EP from Italian sound explorer Lo.Sai. Rooted in sonic tactility and movement, the project draws from both ancestral rhythms and experimental structures to create something intimate, immersive, and future-facing.

Named after the "dancing mushroom" from Japanese folklore, MAITAKE is inspired by the interconnected growth of mycelial networks and the emotional ecology of shared experience. Developed in collaboration with choreographer Maria Combi, the EP is a meditation on collective motion - where dance, rhythm, and ritual coalesce.

Across five tracks, Lo.Sai weaves together broken percussion, deep bass, fieldrecordings, and global rhythmic language. Fragments of flamenco, muezzin prayer, and Central African everyday rhythms float through the record - artefacts gathered by the artist's close-knit creative circle in Lunigiana. What emerges is not just a club record, but a living, breathing sonic organism.

SOULMEEX record label returns this summer with a heatwave of nostalgia-infused grooves, welcoming French producer Harrington for his debut release on the label. Known for his raw, emotive take on electronica, Harrington blends italo, dream house, and vintage synth textures with a distinct nod to the golden era of Chicago and New York club culture. The result: two original cuts that pulse with timeless energy.

On the A side, Dancin’ Better channels a bittersweet euphoria, driven by retro drum machines, silky basslines, and melancholic melodies that feel both familiar and fresh. The remix comes courtesy of Prom Night, one of Copenhagen’s most vital dancefloor architects. His version reimagines the track turning it into a peak-time heater for dreamy dancefloors.

Flip to the B side for System Nation, a darker, more propulsive journey through late-night zones, with Harrington crafting a groove that’s both hypnotic and emotionally charged. Stepping up on remix duty is Berlin’s own Maltitz. His italo remix injects System Nation with shimmering synths nodding to the genre’s roots while pushing the vibe forward.

New music from Mousse T. All I Want Is The Bass is a ruthless club track with a dutty bassline and probably the most beautiful drop that we have heard in a long time.

Pep Jam back with a Bang!

Majestic Fantasies, debut album from the duo Space Ghost & Teddy Bryant, is the second release on Space Ghost’s new record label, Peace World Records. Produced by Space Ghost, with Teddy Bryant’s powerful vocals at the forefront, this new album sees the two artists effortlessly blend their shared influences from the late '80s and early '90s.

Over three years in the making, in Majestic Fantasies Space Ghost & Teddy Bryant look to the past for inspiration as they explore genres, techniques, and moods. Across the record, Bryant’s vocals shine as he demonstrates a strong ability to create memorable nostalgic hooks and catchy backing harmonies. Similarly, Ghost displays his knack for dissecting vintage production tropes and breathing life into them in a modern context.

Filled with underground, soulful gems, Majestic Fantasies draws deeply from the duo's passion for R&B, UK Street Soul, New Jack Swing, House, and G-Funk. Their 10-track LP freely blend these genres, paying homage to song writers like Teddy Riley, Jam & Lewis, Carl McIntosh, an DeVante Swing. On the album you’ll find tracks like “Some Things Last Forever” which explore New Jack Swing drum patterns and vocal hooks. South African composer and producer Jason van Wyk is continuously honing his craft, with each consecutive release feeling like a clear evolution of its predecessor. Through his albums and soundtrack commissions, van Wyk’s technique at perfectly balancing melody and atmosphere is now more apparent than ever.
Inherent, his sixth aptly named album, finds van Wyk distilling his sound to where each note seems to have implicit cinematic intent, revealing intricate new details with every listen. Inherent features large swaths of warm, wispy ambient, ghostly piano and widescreen drone. Yet, at the very moment when all seems to apex, van Wyk presses on by mining his past endeavors in club music, neo-classical and scoring work to create something else entirely.

The Aachen Jazz Files celebrates the pioneering spirit of NABEL Records—one of Germany’s most underrated yet influential independent jazz labels. Founded in 1980 by Rainer Wiedensohler, NABEL became a home for innovative musicians blending classic acoustic jazz with fusion, Brazilian rhythms, and avant-garde flourishes.

This compilation collects some of the label’s finest moments, including the soulful and Latin-tinged brilliance of Monika Linges Quartet (whose album *Floating* was reissued last year by PANORAMA Records for RSD Black Friday), the cosmic jazz explorations of John Thomas & Lifeforce, the deep jazz-funk grooves of Hipsters In The Zone, and the stunning, expressive vocals of Maria João’s quintet.

Nestled in the far west of Germany, near the Dutch and Belgian borders, Aachen has long been a hidden gem for jazz lovers. Its vibrant scene, fueled by music schools and the legendary Malteserkeller jazz club, cultivated a unique sound that resonated far beyond its city limits. In fact, the city didn’t just birth a jazz movement—it also lays claim to opening Germany’s first discotheque in 1959.

From London to Tokyo, NABEL’s releases became secret weapons for jazz DJs seeking deep, danceable cuts. The label’s trademark blend of acoustic jazz, fusion, and Brazilian influences made its way onto turntables in underground clubs and festival stages worldwide.

Expect elegant samba jazz, spiritual grooves, and modal masterpieces that capture the essence of NABEL’s golden years. Monika Linges’ contributions shine with her rich harmonies and heartfelt compositions, while John Thomas & Lifeforce deliver a perfect storm of fiery instrumentation and deep soul.
