Eramus Hall's 1980 album 'Your Love Is My Desire' is one of the most collectable and in fact desired modern soul albums of all time. Copies of the original pressing on Westbound have exchanged hands for over £400. From the LP comes two of its most desirable tracks, neither released before on 7' outside of a limited run of the LP reissue on Expansion for this year's Record Store Day.
Eramus Hall are in fact a group taking their name from a building George Clinton saw and gave them while he was in Chicago. The group comprise lead vocalists Michael Gatheright and James Wilkerson with musicians Ronald Wright, Marvin Williams, Joe Anderson, Grady Smith, Charmie Currie and William Tillery.

Irgendwann im Jahr 2020 hörte ich zum ersten Mal ,Canto Ostinato" und war sofort fasziniert von diesem Werk. Ich war fasziniert von seiner besonderen Mischung aus Harmonie, Wiederholung und Tempo. Im Frühjahr 2023 hatte ich meine eigene Solointerpretation komponiert und veröffentlicht, und ich ging davon aus, dass meine Arbeit mit der Komposition damit abgeschlossen sei. Allerdings unterschätzte ich ihre Anziehungskraft. Im folgenden Jahr war ich erneut davon eingenommen, nachdem ich von Andrew Cyr vom Metropolis Ensemble eingeladen worden war, auf der Grundlage meiner Arbeit mit dem Stück weiterzuentwickeln. Bald darauf war ich in Brooklyn, in einem neu gegründeten Team von sechs Personen, das von Cyr geleitet wurde. Im folgenden Jahr war ich erneut in seinen Bann gezogen worden, nachdem ich von Andrew Cyr vom Metropolis Ensemble eingeladen worden war, auf der Grundlage, die ich mit dem Stück geschaffen hatte, weiterzuarbeiten. Das Ergebnis war ein beeindruckendes, mitreißendes und sehr bewegendes Erlebnis, das ich nie vergessen werde. Ich bin sehr dankbar für diese Erfahrung und die Möglichkeit, die Musik von John Cage zu interpretieren und zu spielen. Wir taten dies, und unsere Gruppe wuchs um die Teilnehmer des Sandbox Percussion Summer Seminar der New School sowie um die Komponisten David Leon, Ben Wallace und Ledah Finck und das Bergamot Quartet. Mathew takes inspiration from the weirdness of Aldous Harding and Amen Dunes while embracing the songcraft of greats like Neil Young and Jeff Buckley. Due for release on 3rd October 2025 via Tip Top Recordings (Mandrake Handshake, Japanese Television, Pearl & The Oysters), EP 'Full Weight' is a six track offering of emotionally driven, lyrically agile, eccentrically produced indie- rock. Released on limited edition (300) heavyweight white coloured vinyl.

Mathew's journey began with a childhood guitar and quietly grew into a private archive of hundreds of songs, never meant for anyone but himself. After stints with local outfits The Velotones and Violet May, he broke away to carve out his own space, one where every note and word belonged to him. Stepping into the studio with friends and trusted collaborators, he found the freedom and confidence to let the world in. The result is 'Full Weight', a bold new chapter in Mathew's musical story. '5:32' is the natural way to introduce Mathew's gloriously unique voice and songwriting, evoking Sheffield's musical royalty such as Richard Hawley.

As the single artwork depicts, '5:32' was conceived by Mathew "in bed, during COVID, eating cereal and taking my meds. As Thom Yorke once said, 'no one is really a solo artist'". The surging, cathartic anthem 'Weight Of Love' is about a simple case of unrequited love. Mathew says, "In my case, it's a story of my dad leaving. The cover artwork is of me and my brother around the age he left" . Further tracks like 'Lady Luck' lean into a slowburning groove of shimmer and snarl, while the fully exposed 'Creature Of Comfort' is built on skeletal instrumentation. 'Full Weight' captures the duality of refusing to choose between fragility and force. It's music that aches, bleeds, and ultimately triumphs: a testament to the strength in showing your cracks. The new album by "Thomas Sarrodie & Bi-Polar Blues" marks a fresh start, strongly inspired by the band"s participation in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. This almost initiatory journey to the heart of Blues and Rock has ignited the energy and soul that make this new album the work of an inspired trio (guitar/vocals, double bass, drums), driven by the group"s extensive experience, yet remaining unique and original. With a guitar rooted in blues, blended with contemporary rock energy and 1960s psychedelic echoes, Thomas Sarrodie & Bi-Polar Blues captivates with its enchanting slides, a baritone tuning, a surprising double bass, and a swirling drumbeat. Formed twelve years ago by Thomas Sarrodie (guitar, vocals) and Sylvain Blanquiot (bass), the Thomas Sarrodie Group established itself on stages across Occitania with various drummers, until Jérémy Cazorla joined behind the kit. Influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix, Sarrodie adds a personal touch, avoiding clichés, as evidenced by three studio albums and a vibrant live recording. Eager to evolve, the trio incorporated double bass, slide, and baritone tunings, reshaping their sound toward a rootsy blues while retaining rock energy. Renamed Thomas Sarrodie & Bi-Polar Blues, the group embarked on a new tour and the recording of an eponymous EP. Hailing from the southwest of France, The Deweys is a flexible trio, evolving through encounters and invitations. Influenced by American folk, blues, and country music, the group has built its own identity and etched the names of its heroes, from Johnny Cash to Nick Cave, from Calexico to R.L. Burnside. On Windwalker, The Deweys have expanded the cinematic side of their universe by inviting a string quartet and a percussionist to form a temporary orchestra, The Black Cat Orchestra, dedicated entirely to the album"s songs. The Band Rotosphere has become a cornerstone of the Blues Festival Baden (Switzerland). After returning from Australia, Brian Baker has wasted no time in making an impact on the NZ scene with much heralded and reviewed singles and film clips, and in particular his solo show which has seen him perform at gigs and Festivals across the country. Now he"s joined two local Whanganui Musicians, Stu Duncan and pro drummer Brad MacMillan, both seasoned performers. The act is called BB and The Bullets and has a focus on the blues, doing tracks by Albert King, BB King, Muddy Waters plus some Stevie Ray Vaughan and other blues classics. They also feature some of Brian"s excellent releases and have a few of their own recorded. These tracks make up their debut LP which will soon be released on vinyl, CD and digital through Nixon Street Recordings, Whanganui"s own international record label. Yes, the guitaring that made Brian"s solo show stand out is heavily on display here, now backed by a tight, live rhythm section. Their shows have been very well received wherever they have performed, getting standing ovations at the recent Bay Of Islands Jazz and Blues Festival where they played six standout shows over three days ! They are drawing crowds wherever they appear, have been invited back to the Capital Blues Inc in Wellington after a knock em dead show there, and were a solid crowd pleaser at Snells Beach this summer for Auckland city council"s Music In Parks series. They are delighting audiences with rock solid, emotive performances of classic blues tracks underlined by undoubtedly one of the finest guitarists New Zealand has produced !

Kicking off what will be an Alice Coltrane year with more releases to come in the next 12 months, is a previously unreleased, killer live recording from 1971. Recorded live, by Impulse! at a charity gala given at Carnegie Hall for the benefit of the Integral Yoga Institute in 1971, this incredible set never saw commercial release until now. The gala concert was one of two halves with the first two transcendental tunes by Alice taken from the album she had just released on Impulse! and then two explosive tunes by her late husband John Coltrane. Naturally, à la Coltrane/Dolphy at the Gate, which picked up the recent Grammy nomination for Best Liner Notes, the package includes some knockout editorial, with essays by Lauren Du Graf and Alice’s producer Ed Michel.

Glitterbox resident Dimitri From Paris and remixing pioneer Tom Moulton present their retouched mixes of Ron Hall & The Muthafunkaz modern day soul classic 'The Way You Love Me' now available on 12' vinyl. Initially released in 2006, Marc Evans provides velvet-smooth vocals complimented by background harmonies and timeless disco production. For his iconic T.S.O.P. remix Dimitri From Paris enlisted the help of Salsoul Orchestra founder Vincent Montana, Jr. for fresh strings as well as a new full orchestra arrangement in his version, and here he gives it an update with his previously unreleased 'Dim's T.S.O.P. Version - Dimitri from Paris Glitterbox Retouch'. Tom Moulton's retouched sweet-sounding 'Philly Re-Grooved Remix', previously released on Harmless in 2013, comes laden with guitar riffs, dreamy harps and xylophone for even more instrumental glory. Two disco legends come together under one stunningly soulful Glitterbox release leasing new life into this timeless record.

Produced by Creed Taylor and originally issued on the CTI label in 1975, Jim Hall's Concierto followed the path of Miles Davis' celebrated Sketches of Spain in presenting, among other tunes, an arrangement of Joaquín Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez."

The LP was an all-star venture, with Hall accompanied by such luminaries as Chet Baker, Paul Desmond, Roland Hanna, Ron Carter and Steve Gadd. Desmond had a long history of recording with the guitarist, but this was Hall and Baker's first out of just two recorded encounters.

Concierto received a **** ½ rating on AllMusic, with reviewer Anthony Tognazzini stating that it "ranks among the best albums of Hall's superb catalog and the personnel is a jazz lover's dream come true."

Erasmus Hall's 1980 album Your Love Is My Desire' is one of the most collectable and in fact desired modern soul albums of all time. Copies of the original pressing on Westbound have exchanged hands for over £400. Furthermore in-demand gems including Your Love Is My Desire' and Just Me And You' have never previously been on 7' vinyl, so as part of these Record Store Day release those two tracks are included on the format making this package irresistible. Eramus Hall are in fact a group taking their name from a building George Clinton saw and gave them while he was in Chicago. The group comprise lead vocalists Michael Gatheright and James Wilkerson with musicians Ronald Wright, Marvin Williams, Joe Anderson, Grady Smith, Charmie Currie and William Tillery.

It’s safe to assume no one in the audience at Carnegie Hall on March 30, 1974 anticipated what Miles Davis would play at the concert documented on Dark Magus: Live at Carnegie Hall. Recorded near the tail end of his electric period, the double album remains the darkest, most ferocious statement of Davis’ career — a visionary effort that foresaw developments in jungle, noise-rock, funk, and drum ‘n’ bass.

Initially issued in Japan in 1977, Dark Magus waited two decades for U.S. release. Now, more than 50 years after Davis and his ensemble blew minds at the famous New York venue, it gets its first-ever domestic issue on vinyl — and on a definitive-sounding pressing at that.

The story behind Dark Magus is nearly as unbelievable as the spur-of-the-moment compositions that resulted when Davis brought drummer Al Foster, bassist Michael Henderson, percussionist James Mtume, horn virtuoso Dave Liebman, and guitarists Pete Cosey and Reggie Lucas together, and, in a new twist for the concert’s second half, added guitarist Dominique Gaumont and tenor saxophonist Azar Lawrence to mix. That the latter two instrumentalists had never seen each other until that night adds to Davis’ legend — and penchant for bold, unorthodox moves.

Ditto Davis’ own actions that spring evening, which reportedly included showing up to the show an hour late and taking the stage with his back facing the crowd. The strategy worked. Davis inspired the group to play in a bold manner that few, if any, had heard before. Dark Magus is a rhythmic bonanza. Rooted in Afro-centrist techniques, avante-garde sensibilities, and exploratory moods, the songs eschew set arrangements and solos, and, for the most part, melodic devices.

For Davis, Dark Magus represented a personal triumph amid a period marked by health issues, addictions, and critical decline. The latter slight would be corrected, but not until decades later when Dark Magus saw Stateside release in 1997 via a CD reissue. Of course, the free-form patterns, unpredictable passages, dense structures, and distorted blues that course through the songs — titled after Swahili numerals — are not for everyone. And certainly not for the fainthearted. Though Dark Magus contains majestic moments marked by quiet restraint and something on the level of balladry, its rich and radical concoction of tormented thwacks, thumps, cracks, clatters, wails, bleeps, burbles, stomps, and enigmatic beats remains its adventurous heart and soul.

‘Live at the Royal Albert Hall’ is Katie Melua’s third live album, newly recorded at the Royal Albert Hall, London on 16th May 2023 to a sold-out audience. Bookending Katie’s ‘Love & Money’ tour in 2023, promoting her ninth studio album of the same name, ‘Live at the Royal Albert Hall’ is a celebration of her remarkable 20-year career to date.

"I began work on Dance Hall Putsch in the early days of Covid-19. I was trying to create an upbeat, rather positive and very danceable album to leave the pandemic days behind us. Then it happened that a war began near where I live with tens of thousands of civilians killed and wounded so far. Everyone was caught by surprise and it influenced me, especially lyrically. "This current conflict is just 500 miles away from Berlin, and while that does not make it more horrific than other wars, it is very close to home. From living with this 'war next door,' the album turned out much more sinister than originally planned. It became a rather political album that reflects on the senselessness and nastiness of all the current wars around us. It's always the innocent and those who hold no power that suffer the most. Their fate isn't always death, but many times indescribable and long-term suffering. We must not forget them or turn a blind eye. "I’m very pleased that I had the opportunity to collaborate with different and interesting colleagues here. Thanx everybody for your interest in my musical works and for your love and support."

So entstand beispielsweise die kosmisch-wabernde "Ad Astra" als One Take während einer privaten Gartenparty. Die vier Stücke des neuen Albums, überwiegend ausufernd und mit langen Spielzeiten, wurden diesmal in ihrem Grundgerüst bereits im Juli 2022 an zwei Off Days während ihrer sehr erfolgreichen ersten UK - Tour in den Dystopia Studios in Glasgow, Schottland, aufgenommen. Da Acid Rooster aber bereits im Mai 2022 kurz zuvor ihr vorhergehendes Album "Flowers & Dead Souls" in Bamberg in Franken, nahe ihrer Heimatstadt Schweinfurt, aufnahmen, war die Studio Session mit dem schottischen Produzenten Jason Shaw von eher improvisatorischer Natur und somit wurden die Tracks ohne nennenswerte Vorbereitungen eingespielt. Zurück von der Tour und nachdem eine Weile verging, fügten die drei Jugendfreunde den live eingespielten Stücken in ihrer Wahlheimat Leipzig noch allerhand Overdubs hinzu, welche "Hall of Mirrors" zu einer äußert vielschichtigen, sehr psychedelischen Klanglandschaft werden ließen. Zu hören sind neben zusätzlichen Gitarrenspuren und diversen Perkussionsinstrumenten unter anderem Saxophon, Shruti Box, Synthesizer, Mellotron, Querflöte, Vibraphon und vieles mehr. Gemastert hat das Album der Grammy-nominierte Engineer Joseph Carra in seinen Crystal Studios in Australien, welcher unter anderem für die klangliche Veredelung sämtlicher King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Alben verantwortlich ist. Nothing In Rambling as the project name is taken from a Memphis Minnie song which Sister Suzie describes as “very poignant – and like so many in that era, it sounds deceptively cheery and upbeat, but the lyrics are dark, telling a tale of danger and bravery in taking to the road rambling especially as a black person. and the struggles that women, especially black women, faced in that era.” Sister Suzie published a dissertation “Women In The Blues, Pre-1960’ detailing the struggle that women, especially black women, had against the ‘patriarchy’ and in their own sexual liberation. The latter element was often written about observing the ‘racy’ side of life, and on songs such as ‘Me And My Chauffeur’ and ‘Kissing In The Dark’ Sister Suzie takes the cue to deliver with particular juke joint panache. "Music, Sweet Music" sounds like a perfect little song with lovely summer vibes, a bit of vocal scatting and lovely organ licks from the multi talented Ellis Hall.

We love the feel of this one that sounds like The Crusaders/Blackbyrds, and Stevie Wonder rolled into 2:38 of soulful pleasure.

Flip it over and "Forward Motion" kicks off with some pretty generic 70's horn play, boom, rasping drums and melodies kick in with some fun interplay between Ellis , Patty Unitas and Pat Thomas on the background vox.

Lovesick is an Italian based band formed of Paolo Roberto Pianezza and Francesca Alinovi. Two multi-instrumentalists, whose influences are deeply rooted in the American country, rock"n"roll and western swing music of the 40s and 50s. In addition to their vocal harmonies, Paolo plays electric and acoustic guitar, as well as lap steel, Resonator and Dobro guitar. Francesca plays double bass with the addition of a brush pad, a percussion built into the double bass to keep the rhythm with a drum brush. The duo is joined by Alessandro Cosentino on fiddle and drums. Lovesick have played as opening act for Ben Harper, JD McPherson, Zucchero, ToquinIo and Edoardo Bennato and they have played big festivals all around Europe, alongside the likes of The Offspring, Social Distortion, Walter Trout, Fu Manchu, Secondo Casadei Orchestra and Ten Years After.

Ten of the selections on this set are compiled from two separate performances. None of the performances on the album have previously been available. The A-side consists of tracks recorded in
1970. The B-side collects a couple from 1965 and is rounded out with four tracks from 1971. The 40- minute live collection LP will be pressed on black vinyl with rare photos and liner notes

Cal Tjader was the master of Latin rhythms and has played with Dave Brubeck, Lionel Hampton, George Shearing and many others. As a band leader his output spanned over 50 albums and hundreds of
concerts. Probably more than any other non-Latin musician he helped to popularize the fusion of Latin and jazz. This 1978 recording has been unavailable for many years now returning on CD and digital.

1973 was an amazing year for the pop/rock duo Hall & Oates as they ushered their superstardom further with the incredible second album masterpiece Abandoned Luncheonette.

Produced by the great Arif Mardin, this nine-song album fused with classic Philly soul, rock and acoustic pop anthems delivered in a big way for the history making duo. By the early '70s globetrotting Fabienne Shine had befriended members of Led Zeppelin. She became romantically entangled with guitarist Jimmy Page and he and Robert Plant encouraged Shine's musical pursuits, urging her to put together a group of her own. And so she did, forming "Shakin' Street" in 1975 and opened for bands including Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath

In the mid-1960s, Clementine Hall teamed up with Roky Erickson, she providing lyrics and he the music, for two of the most beautiful songs in the 13th Floor Elevators catalogue. Freddie Steady Krc, Roky
Erickson & The Explosives founding member, and Eve Monsees team up to record duets of these two songs. Accompanied by some of Austin, TX finest musicians, this is an Elevators fan's must have.

Founded in 2012, the Kid Colling Cartel (named in reference to the Colombian origins of the frontman) consists of Kid Colling (vocals and guitar), Alex Logel (organ and keyboard), David Franco (bass), and Florian Pons (drums). Describing their style as "Alternative Rock Blues," the band primarily performs Colling"s compositions and draws inspiration from various genres such as groove, funk, and especially rock-never abandoning its blues roots. The harmony and musical camaraderie of the group on stage are undeniable, with Kid Colling, primarily a guitarist, standing out for his charisma and a recognizable voice that he can modulate at will. It is important to him not to confine the Cartel to a specific style but to address a broad audience that can easily appreciate their music without necessarily being devoted to pure blues. In 2017, the Kid Colling Cartel released its first album, "In the Devil"s Court," and the upcoming album titled "Living on the Wild Side" is scheduled for February 2023.

Wild Oats proudly presents the new EP from Kyle Hall entitled 'Equanimity'. This release marks the 10 year anniversary of Wild Oats and its only fitting that we celebrate with a release from the label boss himself. Along with the engineering treatment from 'Chicago's very own" (C.V.O.) deep house legend, Glenn Underground, "Equanimity" takes on a new foundational sound and assembly.

Dark Horse Records is re-releasing the legendary Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros live concert at Acton Town Hall, remastered by Grammy award-winner Paul Hicks (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison) on double black vinyl. The concert, recorded on November 15, 2002, was a benefit for striking firefighters and was one of Joe's last performances (he died a month later).

Part of the performance was a reunion with Mick Jones, Strummer's former bandmate from The Clash, who reunited with Strummer on stage for three songs for the first time in almost twenty years. It was also the last time they were on stage together.

The end of 2023 marks 15 years of Lunar Disko Records, but it's also the end of LDR as a label. We are delighted to present esteemed electro producer Annie Hall as our final release on Lunar Disko Records.

The Spanish producer continues her electronic explorations on the the four track EP 'Ultra Dynamic Information'. Another alluring addition to an already impressive back catalogue of Annie Hall releases.
