The latest 45 from Durand Jones & The Indications out on Colemine Records features two tracks from their previous LP, Private Space. The A Side features the album's title track and is a laid-back, string-enhanced, smooth progression where guitarist Blake Rhein plays minimal but on-the-money strokes. The flip is an uptempo, drum heavy beat with lyrics depicting heartbreak and longing. "Sea of Love" delivers on that smell good, look good, feel good '70s synth sheen arrangements, lavish string charts, and double-down confidence from a band who gets to move their core expertly into a different decade.

Love International and Test Pressing commemorate yet another cracking festival with the latest instalment in their collaborative compilation series for their LIXTP label. For The Sound Of Love International #006 they’ve chosen Jay Donaldson aka Palms Trax as their selector. He’s a regular at Love International.

The Berlin-based DJ, known for his eclectic sets and long-running NTS show "Cooking With Palms Trax," delivers a diverse selection of tracks gathered from his global journeys.

The majority of the tracks included were self-released / privately pressed and in many cases the often mysterious artists’ only recorded outings. So, in putting this together Palms Trax has unearthed hidden gems, creating a magical, floor-filling journey through music.

Lowell George war der Gitarrenvirtuose, Sänger und Songschreiber von Little Feat. In dieser Sammlung von 25 Liedern interpretieren und spielen Künstler wie Elvis Costello, Ben Harper und Dave Alvin seinen vielfältigen Katalog. Der in Hollywood, Kalifornien, geborene George war Mitglied von Frank Zappas Mothers of Inventions, bevor er diese Band verließ und mit Bill Payne Little Feat gründete. Lowell gehörte der Band 7 Jahre lang bis zu seinem Tod an und veröffentlichte in dieser Zeit acht Alben. Obwohl George 1979 starb, lebt sein Vermächtnis durch dieses Album weiter.

After 2 years of relentless touring in support of their critically acclaimed debut album, Thee Sacred Souls return with "Lucid Girl", the lead single from their forthcoming sophomore album, Got a Story to Tell. Backed by a heavy beat and lavish arrangement, singer Josh Lane-displaying a soulfulness beyond his years-sings an empowering tale of a girl who has the clarity to put her needs before prospective suitors. Cindy is to release a new six song EP called Swan Lake on 4th October via Tough Love. The title isn't a nod to the folktale or ballet in any real way, but to the fact that it all has ended up in the collective imagination as an object, vaguely recognizable, a little suggestive, and mostly blank. Karina Gill, Cindy's songwriter, likes to make use of that kind of resonance to connect sound and experience. The six songs on this EP continue the stripped-down habits of previous Cindy releases, while adding a few departures and left-turns. Cindy likes to work at the essentials and the elements here say exactly what's needed. In other ways, these songs present a soft filigree that's unusual for their recordings. Oli Lipton (Now, Violent Change) on guitar and Will Smith (Now) on bass play counterpoint melodies to Gill's structures. Staizsh Rodrigues (Children Maybe Later, Almond Joy, Peace Frog) sings vocal harmonies that both offset and deepen Gill's voice and delivery. There are playful drums by Mike Ramos (Tony Jay, Sad Eyed Beatniks) and coolly elaborate guitar lines from Stanley Martinez (Famous Mammals, Violent Change, Non Plus Temps). Gill's songs strike this balance too: almost nonchalant reporting tied up in unexpected knots. A ride in an elevator connects up with questions about peace and/or the nature of things; the title track wonders about associative thinking and associative feeling; The Bell is an account of one of those times when everything makes sense but you can't explain it; and there's the scene of a party viewed with admiration for how friends can love each other. As Gill herself says: "People have told me that they can't quite identify my influences. Me neither. The foundational layers of music of the past and my past have been metabolized like breakfast and turned into more me, sorry to say. But I experience the music of people I'm connected with and it impacts me in the moment. There's the music I'm around - April Magazine, Sad Eyed Beatniks, Violent Change, Katsy Pline, collaborating with Mike on Flowertown - that I can feel a direct line from. Then there's music that is being made far away but feels close, like Lewsberg, specifically, for this EP. "

American post-disco/R&B trio Surface were a New Jersey vocal group made up of Bernard Jackson, David Townsend and David Conley. The majesty of boogie ballad "Falling In Love" was their first single, released in 1983 on Salsoul Records. The mellow magic of this track is loved the world over; it's a feel-good smooth boogie jam that's forever coveted. The slick, crystal clear beat, the legendary minimoog bassline, the melody, Karen Copeland's superb vocal, the great flute solo (referenced on the cover) all of it is literally perfect and beautifully encapsulates that mid 80s international club vibe. This here is the original Shep Pettibone mix in its entirety - it's the only one you really need.

Flip for the legendary "Love Mix" of 1987 hit single “Happy". You all know the original. At least, you *should* all know it. But the "Love Mix" is a deconstructed, boldly produced mix which is the one the heads have turned to for so long. Yet, in our opinion, its hypnotic groove has flown under the radar for too many years. This killer remix begins with Jackson's spine-tingling isolated vocal, cleverly subverting expectations by actually delivering the first words of the original's second verse "You must be Heaven sent...Sent into my life...And I compliment you baby...Baby" before a heavy 808 drum kicks hard with echoey handclaps. It's super sparse and a dubbed out slow-mo boogie banger like no other. The synth bass, atmospheric synth pads and synthesized flute glide in and out with effortless style and the whole thing is a wonder to behold.

It's a slow jam, for sure, but crafted in the straight up funk tradition, using the digital tools of the day and this sparser than sparse version almost sounds like a precursor to UK Street Soul. A unique combination of undeniable funk, electro beats and an earnest, youthful tenor; it should be slamming out of every jeep forevermore.

Simon Francis remastered the original audio for both tracks and Cicely Balston's precise cut for Alchemy at AIR Studios ensures this 12" well and truly slaps. The immaculate Record Industry pressing will ensure this incredibly sought-after treasure finds a home in many more collections, this and every year. Simply flawless.

Rob Woodward, AKA Demetae, dons his Tasteless Talk alias for the first time for the ‘Love’s Destination’ EP on La Mano’s Sound Du Jour label. Alongside the single, Woodward is joined by PBR Streetgang and 1⁄2 of PBR Streetgang, Magari, for the remixes. It follows Demetae’s recent ‘Space-time Sleaze’ EP on Sound Du Jour, which won support from Chloé, Mufti, Captain Mustache, Posthuman, and many more.

As Tasteless Talk, Demetae writes 80s-inspired Italo, Disco and Electro Funk, lacing the ‘Love’s Destination’ single on Sound Du Jour with retro synths and the passionate vocals of vocalist MILLICENT. Bodied drums hang down low, airy melodies and nostalgia-rich lyrics at the forefront before Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe’s PBR Streetgang remix the track. Their version ups the energy via an organic breakbeat and layers of additional harmonies while maintaining MILLICENT’s timeless vocal. Bradberry then goes solo for the final track on the EP as Magari, his Scena Finale mix of ‘Love’s Destination’ features bold rhythms, chugging bass and an EBM-tinged feel.

The EP has gained the support of many respected artists such as Solomon, Groove Armada and Claptone. Love’s Destination is expected to be the perfect sound to serenade the closing of the summer season.

Mystisch, heißblütig und bissig, multidimensional und vor allem mit einem großen Fokus auf mitreißenden Grooves. Ein reines Jazzalbum ist es irgendwie nicht, dafür gibt es zu viele Parallelwelten. Dennoch spielt der Jazz, das Unvorhersehbare, die blinde Interaktion und der Mut zum Risiko die wichtigste Rolle in diesem Konglomerat aus Post Bop, Fusion, Baião, hymnischem Indie Rock, melancholischen Synth-Sphären und hypnotisierenden Beats.

The iconic vocal lead of Bebel Gilberto floats over the boom bap drums to make it a sure shot. The flip side, 'Check Minnie's Love' once again shows that Naughty NMX and Runex are on point. The product is horns, beefed up beats, fat bass and silky smooth vocals to make you think it's '92 again (without the Rhime). Minnie rips the lovely
vocals into a dance floor banger.

• Eddie Singleton had a musical career in Los Angeles after his Shrine Records venture had bloomed then died. He cut this heart-felt soul ballad on an undocumented group called the Exclusive around 1969, but it was left on tape only until now.

After a brief hiatus, Synapsis Records returns triumphantly with a captivating 12" release by Iranian artist Siamak Amidi, accompanied by reinterpretations from hm505. Synapsis-019, titled "Crack A Love Ball," showcases two original tracks from Amidi on the A side, while the B side features two mesmerizing reinterpretations by hm505.
