Jubiläum erscheinende Ausgabe von Sad Wings of Destiny wurde von den analogen Original-Masterbändern aus dem Jahr 1976 restauriert und stellt die definitive Version des Albums dar. Das ursprünglich 1976 veröffentlichte Album gilt als eines der einflussreichsten Alben in der Geschichte des Heavy Metal und prägte das Genre maßgeblich mit Klassikern wie "Victim of Changes", "The Ripper" und "Tyrant". Die in Zusammenarbeit mit Judas Priest entstandene Ausgabe wurde im Half-Speed-Mastering-Verfahren speziell für Vinyl bearbeitet. Dieses Verfahren bewahrt die Kraft und den Dynamikumfang der analogen Aufnahmen und sorgt zugleich für außergewöhnliche Klarheit und Tiefe. Die Wiedergabe erfolgt in der von der Band vorgesehenen Reihenfolge, beginnend mit "Prelude", wodurch das ursprüngliche Hörerlebnis wiederhergestellt wird. Lost Soul Super Rarity “Here I Am Baby” by Lady Jane reissued by Athens of the North

Rare 1980 Detroit funk-soul LP finally surfaces after 45 years, revealing a powerful story of survival and artistic resilience

Edinburgh based label Athens of the North is pleased to announce the reissue of Here I Am Baby, the only studio album by soul and funk vocalist Lady Jane (Jane Brice), originally recorded at Studio A, in Dearborn Heights and privately released in 1980.

Lady Jane recorded these sessions during a turbulent period in Detroit in the late 1970s, working with respected engineer Eric Morgeson and a studio band on material largely written by her then-husband. The album remained virtually unknown for decades, with copies destroyed in a flood and masters held by her ex-husband. A chance discovery by Friends of Sound Records founder David Haffner in 2022 set the reissue in motion. Remarkably, before his death, Jane’s ex-husband returned the original master tapes to her—yielding not only the complete multitracks for Here I Am Baby, but an entire album’s worth of unreleased material, also coming soon on AOTN.

Here I Am Baby showcases Jane’s extraordinary voice across a compelling blend of soul, funk, and disco, from the opening ballad through heavy funk excursions like “Never Lived In The Ghetto” and “Space Flight.” The album’s final track, “She’s A Star” - the only song Janewrote herself - carries profound personal significance. Recorded without her husband’s knowledge, the song directly addresses her survival of childhood sexual abuse and stands as a moving testament to resilience and self-belief.

Now an ordained minister, Jane Brice has spent decades away from the spotlight. But her voice—at once forceful, delicate, and vulnerable—deserves to be heard. Newly mastered from the recovered tapes, Here I Am Baby and the forthcoming Miss Disco present not merely a rare funk-soul artifact, but a powerful document of a woman’s courage in reclaiming her own story.

Ian Simmonds presents his new album "The right side of kind" on Goldmin Music. Ian Simmonds is one of the most creative Nu-Jazz/Downtempo producers of the last 20 years.
Although these words can't describe his music properly as the man is always looking for an innovative sound that could cross the boundaries of musical styles. The Welsh-born found his inspiration in music from all over the world and his songs don't only express one clearly defined feeling. They are more of a subtle mix of emotions that let the listener interpret it his way. As Ian said himself: "I think there's a lot of beauty in melancholy". For example, he spent over a year living in a castle in Germany to record his last album " The Burgenland dubs" in a solitary atmosphere where he could really think, breathe, make a plan. That's the point, Ian is always re-thinking things over, looking for a new source of inspiration which results in a constant evolution. He had the chance to collaborate both with amazing musicians like Goldfrapp and electronic music heads like Mathias Kaden, Soulphiction, Krause Duo..

Southern Italian producer Kikko Esse makes his debut on Four Framed Music with Wisdom of Many Minds. Rooted in funk and soul, his sound draws on the timeless spirit of Chicago, deep and Detroit house, while adding a warm musical touch of his own. The result is a collection of four deep house cuts built on groove, musicality and timeless appeal.

Opening track Solo Imperiale sets the tone with warm Rhodes chords, organic percussion and a rolling bassline. Its hypnotic groove strikes the perfect balance between musicality and timeless dancefloor appeal. Detroit legend Rick Wade puts his unmistakable stamp on the original with a signature Detroit deep house reinterpretation. Dusty chords, loose percussion and a deep rolling groove come together in a timeless remix that perfectly reflects his iconic sound.

On the flip, Echoes of The Tribe explores a more organic and spiritual direction, combining earthy rhythms, warm melodies and hypnotic grooves. Trinidadian Deep rounds off the release with a signature deep dub house remix, blending organic percussion, warm sub bass, lush pads and organ improvisations into a spacious, meditative groove.

With two original productions from Kikko Esse and remixes by Rick Wade and Trinidadian Deep, Wisdom of Many Minds brings together three distinctive artists, each with their own take on timeless deep house.

Year Of The Spider is the third studio album by American rock band Cold, released on May 13, 2003. It became the band’s most commercially successful record, debuting at number three on the Billboard album charts and selling over 101,000 copies in its first week. The album also marks the final appearance of guitarists Terry Balsamo and Kelly Hayes. One year prior to the album’s release, the mellow ballad “Gone Away” appeared on the WWF Tough Enough 2 soundtrack.

Produced by Howard Benson, Year Of The Spider presents a noticeably more commercial sound than its darker predecessor, 13 Ways To Bleed On Stage. The album incorporates a wide range of guitar styles, as well as violin, viola, cello, digital effects, and several powerful ballads. While Cold continues to explore themes such as drug abuse and troubled relationships, the album also expands into new territory. “Cure My Tragedy” reflects Scooter Ward’s emotional struggle during his sister’s battle with cancer, while “The Day Seattle Died” addresses the deaths of grunge icons Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley. According to Ward, “Kill the Music Industry” is not aimed at any specific label or individual, but comments on the broader state of the music business.

Year Of The Spider is available as double vinyl album, features the hidden bonus track “Gone Away” and contains an insert with lyrics.

Originally released in 2006, "Ballad Of The Broken Seas" has remained a touchstone for fans of Folk and Americana, revered for its haunting melodies, rich storytelling, and the captivating interplay between Isobel Campbell"s ethereal vocals and Mark Lanegan"s gravelly baritone. La Dispute is an American post-hardcore band formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2004. This is the 12" already immortalized by Gilles Peterson! Dub Souljah, with its classic Roots Reggae/Dub-styled horns and brilliant lead and backing vocals, comes in two versions when Ekowmania meets DJ Sotofett. The first version, in 1970s tradition, is a rocking dancefloor Disco Dub with extended and highlighted percussion parts. Then there's the Ultra Dub – a severely deep and reduced dub where horns and vocals surface only intermittently through constant echoed kicks, minimal hi-hats, and a two-tone bassline. The title track is from Ekowmania's Dr. Afrodub album, produced by Jimi Tenor, but this 12" also includes two non-album cuts: the psychedelic Afro twist of Afrolistic Rock & Roll, and the cosmic Latin-styled Kuusikasi Funk, featuring beautiful saxophone and flute by Jimi Tenor. Concrete Noir, the project of composer, sound designer, and educator Piero Fragola, returns with Blades of Grass, a new EP released on Italian label Deset, following the acclaimed Romance Ruins.

The record develops Concrete Noir’s atmospheric and cinematic approach to electronic music, combining dense textures, sustained rhythmic tension, and immersive sound design. Side A features “Density,” “Pure,” and “Sleepless Eyes,” while Side B presents two reinterpretations: Legowelt’s electro-driven remix of “Rain On Me,” which emphasizes its synthetic and nocturnal qualities, and Caruan’s dance-floor reworking of “Sleepless Eyes,” preserving its atmospheric character.

Conceptually, Blades of Grass shifts from the themes of transformation and decay explored on Romance Ruins toward resilience—the ability to bend under pressure without losing identity or coherence. The EP reflects Fragola’s broader artistic language, shaped by more than two decades of experience in electronic music, audiovisual arts, sound research, and modular synthesis, including his work as a designer for Tiptop Audio and previous releases on international labels.

Uyama Hiroto provided "Letter From Yokosuka" for Nujabes "metaphorical music" released in 2003 and was featured on the title track of "modal soul" released in 2005.

A son of the sun" was released in 2008 and continues to fascinate many listeners to this day.

Club U Nite Records takes it straight back to the early ’90s with four raw and swinging house cuts.

Manhattan Project opens with “Shufflin’ On” – a fat, slamming shuffle groove packed with jazzy touches, swinging drums and a classic old-school organ. “Everybody Move” follows with chunky Rhodes loops, soulful samples and a straight-up floor-moving vibe. Killer!

On the flip, Black Chunes Productions delivers “Jerk Yu Body”, channeling the raw swing and chord-driven energy of the early-’90s New Jersey vibe. Shuffled hi-hats, snares and dark leads bring the groove of that era straight back.

Reign Of Rhythm closes things out with “Organic Pressure” – stripped-down, driving, dope organ house. Minimal, but seriously fat.

Produced by François Tétaz and Luke Howard and recorded primarily at Melbourne's Synth Temple, Tina Arena's Way Of The World reimagines “True Faith” (New Order), “Way of the World” (Max Q / Michael Hutchence), “Enjoy the Silence” (Depeche Mode), “Ordinary World” (Duran Duran), “Torno Bambina” (Ada Mori) and “Cayendo” (Frank Ocean) through stunning orchestral arrangements, prepared piano, analogue synthesis and electronic textures.

Rather than traditional cover versions, these are complete artistic reimaginings that reaffirm Tina Arena as one of Australia's most expressive and enduring vocalists. Of first single “True Faith”, Tina says: “Making the deliberate choice to focus on the lyric of true faith was musically revelatory for me. It presented a blank musical canvas with endless vulnerability and space for me to explore.”

François Tétaz, a Grammy and ARIA-winning producer known for his work with Gotye, Kimbra and Architecture in Helsinki, contributes synthesisers, Rhodes, prepared piano and drum machines throughout, while pianist and composer Luke Howard shapes the EP's restrained, cinematic language.
