Soak’s fourth album, decembers, was born in literal silence. Contending with an autoimmune disease that prevented them from singing, it was the absence of sound that birthed the Derry artist’s most sonically and lyrically remarkable album to date.
The space that expanded from that enforced quiet, and the life lived within it - transitionary, liminal, escaping in search of connection - cracked something open. What floods in, is an album of stunning tenderness, honesty, and astonishing storytelling from an artist discovering the revelations at the end of the line.
In decembers, we travel on the road through America, walk the frost-glistened paths of Dublin at night, search for a meteor in Portugal, and return home to Derry. Everywhere, here is an artist evolving, exploring, releasing themselves, coming undone, and eventually, becoming.
At the core of the album is this lyrical statement: “Getting lost is getting free.” How brave it is to face the unknown. Because when you really go there, that’s where discovery lies. That discovery in decembers is a creative one, but it’s also about connection to people and place, to forgiveness, and ultimately to prioritising honesty. “A consistent theme is struggling for direction, battling the urge to run,” Soak says, “and instead, planting my feet.”

Ste Roberts delivers his debut vinyl EP for the label — four seriously solid cuts of twisted, underground tech house.
The title track “The Washing Machine” is a driving peak-time workout built around Ste's trademark analogue synths, drum machines, rolling sub bass, sharp drums, bleeps and plenty of weird little twists and turns. It's already had plenty of road testing through Ste's DJ sets, including Houghton and fabric, and it does exactly what you want it to do on a dancefloor.
The A2 “Wong Kei” keeps things rolling with another slick and twisted piece of Ste's production. Clever sound manipulation and a seriously infectious groove make this another one that's going to work hard for Djs.
Over on the flip, Evasive boss Rob Pearson gets stuck into B1 “The Washing Machine”, remixing it into his trademark peak time tech, rolling sub-bass territory and adding a few extra mangled instructions for your increasingly misbehaving washer.
B2 “Shoplifting Like That, Yeah” brings Ste’s trademark electro/breakbeat sound into the mix, with tripped-out vocals, wobbling bass and a groove that’s already been causing a real stir in his live sets. Ste has been using it to open his shows, and it’s easy to hear why — a twisted, energetic way to get things moving.
Four tracks, plenty of character and a record that's perfect to push forward the Evasive catalog in style.

Electronic mainstays and longtime collaborators Steve Bug and Stefan Braatz return to cult NYC label Nu Groove with the vinyl edition of their four-track EP, Circles. Showcasing a refined blend of new deep house, acid and underground club sonics, the EP opens with ‘Circles’, featuring the Chicago legend Virgo Four whose vocals bring a timeless energy to the record. A driving Beat Mix follows, transforming the original into a tougher, more DJ-ready cut. On the flip, ‘Nu Acid’ dives into raw machine funk and hypnotic pressure, while ‘Thiz Mood’ closes the EP while highlighting the duo’s mastery of tension and rhythmic detail. Rooted in the spirit of classic house while sounding firmly contemporary, Circles EP is another essential addition to the Nu Groove catalogue.

Strawberry Guy’s new album ‘Give Me A Dream’ unfolds as a tender, fragile and intimate record. The 14 track album arrives as the ultimate hopecore long player, in a time when we need it most. It's a guiding light, healing for the mind, exploring the tight-rope balance that is making it through life intact. Strawberry Guy evolves from the dreamy indie-pop home recordings to a perfectly formed crystalline vision, utilizing an immersive studio approach. Shifting from sparse & fluid piano parts to rich, engulfing layered strings, infectious melodies and an exquisite rumination on manhood from fraught emotional states. Juxtaposing acid-tipped breakbeats with influences of acoustic behaviour in nature, Sully unveils a debut release for Critical Music with two-track 12” ‘Flux’ b/w ‘Chatter’. Sully says: "‘Flux’ and ‘Chatter’ were another attempt to take the groove and feel of the breakbeats I've been previously working with and build them from the ground up. The aim was to find space for the tonal elements to breathe and end up in a place I'd not been to before." Birdsong became an unexpected reference point during the writing process, with Sully using synthesis to analyse and recreate natural calls as compositional material. The resulting dialogue between acoustic behaviour and digital sound generation forms part of the release's underlying methodology rather than a surface aesthetic. "The contrast and contradiction of the organic world captured by digital processes is always a pull for me," Sully explains. "It never fails to inspire." Jack Stevens aka Sully has spent much of the last two decades developing a body of work that sits slightly outside the obvious cycles of revival that have shaped UK bass music. While his records draw from established rhythmic forms, they rarely settle within a single tradition, instead examining the shared characteristics between them. His releases have consistently explored the points where 2-step swing, breakbeat construction, and jungle's rhythmic vocabulary begin to overlap. Sully’s records retain a relevance that extends beyond the moment of their release, continuing to circulate through DJ sets and specialist record collections. This 12” adds another chapter to a catalogue defined by sustained investigation into rhythm, texture and soundsystem music.

LA producer/vocalist Sweet Love Under Tyranny arrives with her self-titled EP (à La Carte Records, 11/6) — four tracks, nineteen minutes of nocturnal dance music built on coldwave and Italo pulled through new romantic melodrama. Co-produced with Matia Simovich (Inhalt) at Infinite Power Studios, mastered by Josh Bonati. The reference points span the pop confidence of Stacey Q and early Madonna, the airtight vocal architecture of Yazoo, and the coldwave romance running through the artist's own history as co-writer on Kontravoid's "Maskerade" (~200k Spotify streams since 2021's "Faceless" LP). Her voice cuts from aching falsetto to guttural growl over synth lines placed with the precision of someone thinking hard about where a chorus should sit in a mix. Post-punkcom: "a nocturne of neon-kissed bliss, a siren's serenade whispered through the haze of LA's twilight pulse." Pressed as a limited single-sided 12" in two variants (black-in-clear; clear).

Scottish producer and label owner Graham Wilson signals a new phase for Seventh Sign Recordings with a four-track EP that blends Detroit techno roots with bright European electronic colours. Across the release, Wilson moves between pulsing four-on-the-floor rhythms, analogue basslines, crisp drum-machine percussion and shimmering synth work. "Mode" opens with an energetic, uplifting drive with steady kicks, pulsing bass and bright synth leads shaped with clean, modern production and side-chained pads. "Oberheim' follows with warm analogue textures, arpeggiated lines and optimistic pads, carrying a classic synth-wave feel while keeping a tight, Detroit-leaning groove. "Are You There" pushes into tense, atmospheric territory: rising pads, crisp hi-hats and a pumping bassline build momentum, giving the track a spacious, late-night techno edge. Closing cut "Parallel Lives" shifts into retro-futurist mode, neon-lit and melodic, evoking 80s energy and nocturnal late night drives. All in, a strong, forward-looking EP that connects machine-soul heritage with modern electronic clarity, ushering a fresh chapter for Seventh Sign.

The original intention of the Builders and the Butchers was to make funeral music, but on the way to the cemetery something changed. An album, like any piece of art, is an artifact of a time. In a world where the process of listening to and obtaining music has never been cheaper or easier, vinyl is a last hold out. You can tell when you\'re holding the weight of wax in your hand, that you\'re connected to what you are doing. The first Builders and Butchers record is also an artifact of a time. Recorded in the living room of a house on SE Division St. in Portland, Oregon in 2007. It was recorded with no expectation, just wanting to document the songs folks had been gathering to sing along to since our first shows in the fall of 2005. The songs having been played only on the street up to that time. At those shows anyone who showed up was handed an instrument and quickly made part of the band. During the recording we attempted to bring that organic singalong rowdiness of the live show into the recording. We brought in about 20 close friends for a Sunday morning booze soaked choir session. We made sure that every instrument of the recording was made of wood and powered by a musician, there are no electric instruments and hardly any effects on this record.

The busiest beavers in the edits game, the Patchouli Brothers sink their teeth in to some novel material for their second outing on RNT’s lauded white label series. The Brothers’ usual disco fodder gives way to some masterful reworking of 90s house, 80s electro boogie, Euro dance, and Freestyle on this 4 tracker that shows their crates run even deeper than we knew. From the opening chords of Male Dans La Peau, to the arpeggiated soulful pulse of See You Tonight, the over-the-top cheekiness of Mista Hasta La Vista, or the earworm vocal refrain of All Nite, this is a special record from beginning to end and an unexpected surprise from Toronto’s finest edit practitioners.

Spring 2026 saw The Proclaimers recording their new album, You May Offend. It is brothers Craig and Charlie Reid’s first album since 2022’s hugely acclaimed Denture’s Out (“Proves you don't need to be a young pretender to land hit after palpable hit,” – MOJO magazine). Their 13th studio album’s 12 tracks – punchy and punky, rousing and carousing, tender and tough – were recorded at Monmouth’s legendary Rockfield Studios with producer Dave Eringa, their crack live band – Steven Christie, Garry John Kane, Zac Ware and Clive Jenner – and frequent guest guitarist, Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield. The result is an album, as ever, concise as well as incisive, and about looking forward. Pushing on and digging into the issues and feelings that matter to them here, now and tomorrow, not yesterday, as with the title track, and first single, a lament for the state of free speech, with Charlie approving of the fact that the title can be taken two ways: “As in: ‘Look, careful what you do, you may offend someone.’ Or: ‘OK children, you may now offend.’ Is it an instruction or an invitation? Or a warning?” A powerful accompanying video for the You May Offend single is being created by Emmy & BAFTA award winners, director Douglas Mackinnon in partnership with Peter Anderson Animation. “My favourite band of all time. They write the most spectacular songs, big hearted, uncynical passionate songs.'” - David Tennant “There is a whole other world of music behind that song that I’ve just been discovering, and they’re a wonderful, wonderful band. Now we live in the age of coolness that doesn’t mean anything, it's just quality and soul. The Proclaimers make more sense than ever.” – Chris Martin after Coldplay performed Sunshine on Leith at BBC’s The Piano Room

TORRE return to Musiq Voyage with Phocaea Vol. 2, a new chapter in their ongoing Mediterranean journey. The Aix-en-Provence duo, Jean-Marc and Patrick Torre, deliver two original tracks, Sormiou and Les Sirènes du Frioul, inspired by Marseille, its coastline and the deep connection between the city and the sea. Blending disco, house, boogie and Balearic influences, TORRE once again shape a warm, hypnotic and distinctly Mediterranean sound.
The EP is completed by two remixes from leading figures of the Italian underground. *Gigi Testa, one of the most respected names in Naples’ deep house scene, brings his signature soulful, deep and groove-driven approach to the TORRE sound, while **Giovanni Damico* delivers a refined rework infused with funk, cosmic textures and dancefloor energy. Together, the four tracks offer different perspectives on the same Mediterranean landscape, moving seamlessly from sunlit afternoons to late-night club atmospheres.
With more than two decades of musical exploration behind them, TORRE have built a distinctive sound between disco, house and electronic music, earning support from artists such as Carl Craig and releasing underground favourites including Corps à Corps and Baleora. With Phocaea Vol. 2, Musiq Voyage and TORRE continue to explore their own Mediterranean mythology — from the turquoise waters of Sormiou to the mysterious shores of Frioul — with a release that feels equally at home on a Balearic beach, a Marseille terrace or a late-night dancefloor.

****COVER WITH AUGMENTED REALITY**** Argentinian producer Translate synthesises states of consciousness and perceptions into his semantics of sound, creating a distinct language of mental techno through hypnotic repetition, precision and deeply immersive atmospheres. His presence in this realm extends through his label Relativity, whose latest EP brings together tracks by Mike Parker and Oscar Mulero, while his own productions have appeared on Svreca’s Semantica Records. For his DIG release, Translate shifts into a broader spectrum, revealing a side of his production that has remained unexplored until now. DIG Curated captures this moment of a new sonic expansion between his signature hypnotic journeys and a stripped-down techno sound. Expansive opens the record with Translate’s distinct mental techno, pushed into an added psychedelic dimension. With a vast and trippy sound, the track steadily fills the space, inviting the dancers to go inward and simultaneously reach out into a collective morphic field. With Discursive, the coordinates shift, introducing a very stripped-down techno side of Translate’s production and a palette rarely heard from him before. Reduced to its essential elements, the track cuts directly through the floor with a functional groove, whilst retaining the tension embedded in his sonic DNA. On the B side, Fuse accelerates with fast-moving pads, mechanical drums and swerving loops that gradually lock the body into trance. Quirky textures spiral throughout, with robotic glitches sounding like organic beings. Coefficients closes the record by pulling the listener into rich bass and expanding loops over a cold melody that guides the final journey into a cosmic unfold. Hypnotic sci-fi vocals emerge from an interplanetary future, traversing space in search of earthly traces. The record ends suspended somewhere between the transmission and unknown, like a sonic threshold. Words by Lora Mateeva Animation/Artwork - Marcin Pospiech Master - Nihad Tule Graphist - Ferdinand Prat

After a mysterious hiatus, one of The essential edit labels of the 2010’s has returned just as inexplicably as it disappeared..
The previous 4 volumes now change hands with private collectors for $$ .. These limited run edits will no doubt sell out in similar fashion..
The A side see’s the most dance floor oriented but often over looked track from Bjork’s album Debut receive the DJ edit it always needed . A2 a unique rework of a very rare nrg record that started out like as Aerobics accompaniment album..
On the Flip B1 take Turn toward the Funk , PBR giving the heavy dub treatment to one of The Whispers most criminally ignored tracks. Rounding things off the B2 drifts into the work of wonky, sleazy Italo.. Magari uses the little understood “wrong speed” technique to sublime effect, combined with some extra synth work it delivers a an entirely different track…one for the heads..

Continuing to make 2020 their own Tropical Disco are back with four tracks of joyous dancefloor fervour in the shape of Volume 19 of their well loved vinyl series.
The EP see’s a welcome return for the outrageously talented and regular contributor to the label Phased Groove. He is appearing alongside a debut for the equally revered Ziggy Phunk and a welcome return of Vagabundo Club Social on a release which is completed by a dynamite collaboration between Kikko Esse & Emanuele Del Carmine.
This is an EP punctuated by the jazzy flourishes that we have come to love from Tropical Disco which sit perfectly alongside a prodigious selection of disco edged funk.
Phazed Groove’s ‘In Motion’ is the perfect opener for this ever so stylish collection. Its dashing groove packs in everything from subtle guitar licks and disco flutes to gentle keys and an ever so sensual breathless female vocal which has likely beamed in directly from the 70’s. It’s a track which belies its laidback notions and is deceptively energetic. Expect this one to be played everywhere from Miami pool soirees to Mediterranean boat parties in the coming months.
Danish artist Ziggy Phunk has seen his star rise rapidly over the last couple of years on the back of a series of sublime releases. His track here ‘Vibes of Nola’ is as captivating as anything that he has produced to date. Built around some incredible keys its funk infused bassline gives it some genuine dancefloor guile.
Over on the flip Kikko Esse & Emanuele Del Carmine’s ‘Funky Tranky’ brings to mind some of Masters at Works jazzier moments as Nuyorikan Soul. Built round some wonderful live bass guitar playing its layers of sumptuous guitar and brass are a joy.
Closing the EP is an essential Latin-edged dance-floor gem in the shape of ‘Calabao’ from Colombia’s irrepressible Vagabundo Club Social. Acidic bass notes and filtered vocals add the grit here. It’s a track which you can expect to be ubiquitous on in the know dancefloors across the tail end of 2020.
Yet again Topical Disco raises the bar ever higher for contemporary disco.
Support across Mi Soul & House FM.

It’s followed by Tea White’s ‘Earth Over Us’, a textured and emotive 3-step instrumental that leans into a more ambient, introspective space.
On the flip, Thabo Tonick’s ‘The Source’ delivers forward-facing 3-step with signature sampling and tight, purposeful builds. Closing the release, Nutty Nys offers ‘Never’ - a low-slung, heavyweight deep house cut layered with blues-tinged soul and unmistakable South African groove.
