The indie dance and leftfield techno magicians Radial Gaze join the Urge To Dance family after remarkable releases for labels such as TAU, Feines Tier, Calypso and Eskimo. The Saint Petersburg-based project is accompanied by Thomass Jackson and Zombies in Miami on remix duties for the mesmerizingly exotic “In Each Other” EP.
The leading track, In Each Other, is a multi-layered and infectiously danceable combination of addictive bassline, magical Cameroonian drums, Amazonian percussions and mystical marimbas creating a mysterious and exotic track. Psych Subsidy delivers dirty, energising and somehow hypnotic emotions. Entrancing sitars loops, long pitched synthesizer and a twisted old lullaby female vocal will get you on board for an amazing psych-trip.
The B-side is where Thomass Jackson and Zombies in Miami deliver their wild and unorthodox remixes of In Each Other. The Thomas Jackson True Love Remix is emotional, hypnotising and yet so trippy, a true testament of Calypso Records Boss’ remixing skills. The second take of the leading track is by Zombies in Miami, a powerful and forward-looking track that blends the hypnotic percussions of the original with a rhythmic bassline and flawless simplicity of all elements used in this remix.

A - Raise & Sgt. Risk - The Shining Wall
A slowed down tribute to the dichotomy of mellow/heavy in mid 90's Jungle/Drum n' Bass, "The Shining Wall" begins with eery pads and a forlorn siren call, gently driven along by a subtle amen groove. Midway through, things turn more aggressive with distorted break switchups and a smattering of mentasm for good measure, before coming full circle and leaving you with a warm but somewhat uncertain end.
B - Sgt. Risk - Weaponized Soul
The flip is a more ominous affair, inspired by the short transition period ca. '96, just before techstep became a defined term. "Weaponized Soul" sets the mood with foreboding pads, until it drops into a relentless barrage of industrial beats and a cavernous sub. In the midway breakdown everything drops away, clearing the stage for a monstrous, swarmlike synthriff.
Both of these tracks where never meant to be "conceptual tributes", but just ended up that way.
A is fairly new, while B is the umpteenth version of a ten year old tune. Big up the Dolphin Man for convincing us to put them out together.
RAMZi is returning home with these eight sonic quests, reanimating the dormant FATi Records, Phoebé’s own label. Composer, percussionist and multidisciplinary artist RRUCCULLA is undoubtedly one of the most eclectic projects to emerge from Spain in recent times, combining abstraction, plasticity and experimentation with an uncommon mastery.
Since her first impact on the electronic "headz" scene with SHuSH Sound Sketches, 2018, the Basque producer has been carefully distilling her new album Zeru Freq., which will be released on Barcelona’s Lapsus record label. For almost two years there was hardly a beat to be heard. Celebration was the watchword, while swaying in livestreams, the ice cubes cracked along longingly in the living room. But now, in the
summer of 2022, it's clear the big eruption won't happen at all. It will go on like this. Yet time has raised questions: For example, what can the bass drum tell us? And how political can escapism still
be?
RSS Disco, masters of the radiant "everything-may-nothing-must” sound, like hardly any other DJ and producer team, have found the answers that contemporary electronic music may need. With their
new album, the Hamburg disco house trio unveil the blanks in so-called club culture - and celebrate precisely these. "Mooncake" seems like a summons, a quiet but sustained curl of the index finger.
But it doesn't play with the audience, it lets the audience play.
Throughout their work, the three musicians have dedicated themselves to well-informed, escapist dance music. RSS perform sharp and sensitive in any surrounding - between Ibiza and the
self-governing hippie commune. They have released limited vinyl on their label Mireia Records, have been on the road a lot, always with a head full of music.
Now the cache has been flushed. Their debut album holds eleven tracks full of vastness, full of possibilities. A classic artist album in the tried and true RSS Disco style, a psychedelic exploring mad stream from the pulse of the world. 80s wave, house, sweat-pop can be heard. Readymades with cut up vocal snippets and sunshine loops on cold clang, spaced pads and beach synths.
Their pieces offer references, but they don't have to be called upon to have an effect. They work the way electronic music has to work these days: against different backgrounds, because as a listener,
you have to add something to it. Music for the sofa is today also for the dancefloor and vice versa.
Because where do people actually stand musically right now? The thread must be picked up again and RSS Disco pull at all ends. Never limiting the space that electronic dance music keeps free to fill.

100 bpm leftfield Dancehall inspired by early 2000s riddims. Silvestre's reaction to his research and digging on dancehall music resulted in composing a 6 track Ep with heavy influence in this genre adding his own dreamy melodies and razor synths which he has got us used to.
In addition to melodies, you can notice chopped vocal samples which actually are taken from UK Drill tunes proposing the connection between the two genres.

Tafi Allstars is a collaborative recording project between Optimo Music artists Thomas Lea Clarke (MR TC) and Conal Blake (Whilst) and members of the Tafi Cultural Institute of Tafi Atome, Ghana. After having previously visited Tafi Atome to take part in the Music of the Volta Region Study tours that are organised by TCI in collaboration with Green Door Studio, Clarke and Blake secured funding from Creative Scotland to travel back to Tafi in November 2016 to record a mini-album of tracks that blend the rhythms and melodies of traditional Borborbor and Agbadza drumming forms and Ewe songwriting with electronic instrumentation and dub recording techniques.
Clarke and Blake travelled to Tafi with a basic recording set up of laptop, microphone and soundcard, a drum machine and a synthesizer and the six tracks on the record came to fruition through various ways of working. Gormedzedze' (The Beginning) in which Michael 'Chilly' Dzandu recites, in Ewe, the story of how the relationship between Green Door and TCI began, was built from the skeleton of an instrumental idea that had been prepared in Glasgow. 'Deka Wor
Wor' (Togetherness) and 'Agbe Me Nya Wo' (History of Life) were built up from songs composed by vocalists Regina Egbeako and Regina Anyormi. 'Cantata' is a traditional slow form of Agbadza drumming that Clarke and Blake simply overdubbed with various electronic sounds and more vocals from Chilly. Finally the title track 'Outside Rhythm' is a straight percussion jam performed by Agblor Jerry Philip outside of the new 'Ghanaian Door' recording studio that is being built for the community of Tafi Atome through the help of projects like this and the 'Youth Stand Up!' album which was released on Autonomous Africa in 2015. After returning from Tafi, all the tracks were finalised and mixed at the Green Door Studio in Glasgow with the help of Stuart Evans and Emily Maclaren.
The resulting mini LP 'Outside Rhythm' will be released on Autonomous Africa on the 22nd of September with all the proceeds from the sale of this record going back to Tafi to fund the completion of the Ghanaian Door Studio.

“I remember Detroit being a cultural hotbed in 1977. There was poetry, theater and music everywhere. I remember even a local bar on the east side even had a poetry night. I don't remember a lot of unemployment or blighted neighbourhoods back then. The greatest takeaway from my trip to Nigeria, was the term "Oracy." I want to say that Wole Soyinka, was giving a talk about about communicating with illiterate or functionally illiterate people and he was talking about oral literacy, or "oracy," for short. It struck me as a perfect word-- for what I was doing, practising. When we decided to produce a record of poetry and music there was no question that it would be titled "Oracy."

It's nothing short of a miracle that the A side track 'Illusions' has ever made it on to vinyl. Jonna from City Fly remembers 'Adam had this on a CDR at Southport in 2008 and it became our official track of the festival as we all partied together the whole weekend it got played again and again back at our Chalet parties'. But then as these things often sadly go, the funk diamond was lost for a few years in the digital ether. Fast forward to 2014 and Danny Berman aka Red Rack'em is playing a 320 of 'Illusions' everywhere but alas it's just a demo and Adam can't locate the arrangement to complete the track as it's on a broken computer in his Mums attic.
Then finally this year, after many pleading emails and plenty of gentle cajoling, there's some amazing news! Adam has located the broken computer and after a day of digital open heart surgery, and then a re-edit over Zoom (no really) we finally had the killer, classic UK soulful anthem you're listening to today. A voice over from a disco documentary cleverly introduces each instrument on the intro before Tommy pushes the button marked 'biggest bassline of the year' and takes us into boogie heaven.
'Sound Crazy' on the flip is another one of those classic Afrobeat tinged Tommy rollers. Big room vibes but with a lot of soul. Rolling broken drums and a huge bassline combine with plenty of spicy, tropical atmosphere on top. The trademark Rawson uplifting chords begin after an anticipatory vibe filled breakdown, taking you to the stratosphere.
'Ads Mood' is the most 'classical' broken beat track on the record, but they are all playable in multiple environments and transcend mere genres. Heavy bass and extra funky syncopated beats climax into a beautiful almost orchestral feel to close off an exemplary EP of higher quality moods and emotions. Don't sleep.

Bear taucht kopfüber in Rap-Rock, Soundcloud-Rap und Y2K-Emo ein. Das Herz von Toro y Moi ist es, sich ständig zu verändern, sich weiterzuentwickeln und zu experimentieren. Twoonky, the brothers duo from Brescia (Italy) formed by Michele and Simone Bornati, is back on Macadam Mambo for a second album. After their brillantissimo ‘Dezzo’ from 2019, which was well noticed by the underground scene, the new opus ‘Ottico’ won’t leave you static. This is the kind of masterpiece that the more you listen, the more you love.
At the opposite of grandiloquent music that would have immediate effect, ‘Ottico’ is much more subtile, surfing on a cool wave of styles, a collage of vibes going from 70’s Kraut to 90’s Trip-Hop, where the analog sounds of guitars, synths, distorded voices, saxo, samples and electronics FX match so well, creating an ensemble in the unique mutant flow of the Twoonky’s that makes it so intemporal and so modern in the meanwile. It’s not about being curious, it’s about being open on crossing boundaries, like they are used to do with their unique place called Spettro in Brescia, where all the avant-garde of the electronic scene is coming to perform.

Friendship is a core value of Milligramme. Unspecial’s track “Der Freund I” and Deadbeat’s “Sands of Time Dub” are another chapter of a long story of mutual understanding between Hilmar Reusch a.k.a. Unspecial and select Canadian artists. This record involved consulting Manifest Audio's Noah Pred, who introduced him to Scott Monteith, better known as Deadbeat. Pred and Reusch’s paths first crossed in 2003 in Barcelona at the Sonar Festival. Ever since, the two have exchanged thoughts about music, the world, time, and place. Monteith and Reusch opened an expansive discussion about sustainability and the future of music, Chloé Gastinel did some flirting with the dark, Jörn Elling-Wuttke mastered it,and took care of its spirit. Milligramme is grateful to have such gentle, reflective, and excellent friends.

Mondo Groove celebrates Italo-Disco in fine style delighting us with the most important tunes from the legendary Phantom Records; a ride deep into the world of the label that has not only produced renowned music, but has been acknowledged as a serious influence on modern disco sounds. Emerging in the late 70's to early 80s, Italo bridged the gap between disco and house, and was a staple of seminal Chicago DJs like Frankie Knuckles (who pioneered many of the drum machines and synths that are still in use today).
I-Robots, a true connoisseur of the genre, hailing from the Piedmont area of Italy, curated and carefully selected the tracks on this compilation.
This eleven track collection features originals and rarities, officially repressed here for the first time, and 2 tracks re-edited by I-Robots. The LP comes with the original Phantom Records logo on the front, scans of original 7-inch and LPs covers, as well as photos of the era on the back.
The sequence begins with "Come with me" by Carlotto. Roberto Carlotto was a keyboard player and singer who was very active since the 1960s. His solo recording career began in 1971 with a 7-inch release, and was followed by the progressive rock cult album "Dedicato a Giovanna G." signed under the pseudonym Hunka Munka. At the time he was distinguished by its remarkable technique and the high quality of its equipment that included an incredible number of keyboards and even the first examples of electronic measures. "Come with me" is an astounding unique Rock-Disco tune pressed only on 7-inch and highlights all of its instrumental and vocal prowess in a tight rhythm.
Comet Music Hall also came out as a 7-inch as a promotional edition for the homonymous discoteque - a kind of psychedelic-disco still currently produced by Enzo Draghi, a key figure of the Phantom, among others.
Roberto Ferracin is the man behind the Music One project, the name by which he produced only one LP of short electro-disco jingles. Included here are four of the most powerful cuts.
Every Italo Funk-Disco collector knows "Radio Cosmo 101", a soulful jazzy-disco-funk number produced by the homonymous radio station that was based in Alessandria in 1975, and spawned from the mind of Tony De Giglio, his two brothers, and a group of friends. At the end of 1974, Tony saw "American Graffiti", which instilled the desire to create a free radio format which became very popular in Italy. The programming took place at De Giglio's house and the wavelength was, in fact, 101 Mhz. The show immediately became quite popular, with programming that began in the morning at 10am and ended at 11pm. Included in this LP are the vocal and instrumental versions, as well as a long-version edit by I-Robots.
Don Luigi Bernini is a Piedmontese priest who has devoted his life to music. His father played the organ in church, and in those days the electric organ did not exist, therefore the father used little Luigi to push the bellows. The boy soon learned to play it as well. He then entered the seminary but continued to study music and graduated from the Vivaldi Conservatory of Alessandria in piano and choral composition. Later, he became a teacher of music education at the State School. He was introduced into the world of pop music by producers Riccardi & Albertelli and debuted with a single in 1977. Of his discography, his most interesting work is undoubtedly the weird "Telepatia" of 1979 - an experimental album, electronic, psychedelic, with the theme of good and evil always in the foreground. Featured in this collection is 'Whirlwind', which was recorded by Roberto Ferracin (Music One) and Enzo Draghi.

After more than ten years, four albums and countless shows, Swiss artist Joell Nicolas takes a turn and releases her last album as VRVN. Despite being an ending, Storia is also a place for beginnings. For the first time, VRVN brings together her semi-modular synth with an acoustic instrument, but not just any: a church organ. Filled with air like a dragon, it becomes both emancipating and dangerous, weaving its sounds with synthetic ones, together with voices and lyrics: in English and –also for the first time– in French.
Three years of musical research condensed in ten tracks, sometimes structured as songs, sometimes as sensitive soundscapes. Stemming from an exploration of textures over structure, Storia meanders through intimate topics, such as childhood, silence, risk, healing and transformation.

On May 12th 2023, Helsinki-based duo Ya Tosiba will release their second album, ASAP Inşallah. The album will be led by two singles, ‘Mənəm’ and ‘Pul’, due for release on March 2nd and April 13th respectively.
A collaboration between Finnish electro producer Tatu Metsätähti (also known as Mesak and Mr Velcro Fastener, and of the Scandinavian skweee scene) and Azerbaijani musician and vocalist Zuzu Zakaria, Ya Tosiba absorbs electronics, live instrumentation and folkloric poetry of Caucasus into a spirited, groovy sound.
The follow up to their 2017 debut album Love Party, Ya Tosiba’s ASAP Inşallah plays with tension of living in a world of contradictions.
Across the 10 tracks musical and lyrical collaboration takes the listener on a global trek. Sonically, features come from Norway’s Center of the Universe, France’s Poborsk, Ukraine’s Zavoloka, Sweden’s Pavan and Daniel Savio, Azerbaijan’s Rahman Memmedli, plus Patric Catani and Debmaster from Berlin. As Zuzu sings in Azerbaijani, the storytelling of ASAP Inşallah comes alive. All of the album’s lyrics are taken directly from poetry and texts: with tales of romance and war, sex and gender, nature and machine, politics and society. Though the stories are varied, and some are historical, they all tap into that tension; it’s the weight of history versus the promise of tomorrow. After collecting myriad stories during her field studies, some of which are over 100 years old, Zuzu was stunned by their contemporary relevance.
When Ya Tosiba wrote ASAP Inşallah, it started with these texts-as-lyrics; melodies and music were built out from their internal rhythms and vocalpossibilities. With a range of electronic hardware and software, Zuzu and Tatu went back-and-forth, creating taut loops and clips out of Zuzu’s vocals, drums and keyboards, with samples of their collaborators instruments and Tatu’s productions.
In chopping up recordings of the live players into their electronic beats, Ya Tosiba creates an effect of tradition and modernity “being samples from the same record, taking it apart and looping it to sound like one machine.” The patchwork nature of their process, alongside the ambitious and danceable sonics, invites the listener into Ya Tosiba’s unique perspective.

"Kurayami" is the result of the dialogue between Akira Uchida (music) and the acclaimed photographer Masao Yamamoto initiated by IIKKI, between September 2022 and May 2023.
After to have worked as a saxophonist for several years, Akira Uchida, in 2007 learned piano tuning under Mr. Satoshi Yoshida. Planning and holding "Sound workshop" which is to introduce how to interact with various sounds from the viewpoint of sound turning. In 2015 while he was learning from Mr. Masahiro Adachi, Akira Uchida started to create a Clavichord (keyboard instrument), invented in the 14th century.

Born from the same oceanside fusion of instrumental dub, reggae, bossa nova and tango music that made Dub Journey's so distinctive and memorable, II is an equally sublime collection of eleven unheard tracks from the brilliant minds of Ronnie Lion and Andrea Terrano.
Evoking the delights of white sands, palm trees and sunsets, all set against clear waters and endless blue skies, Dub Journey’s and II document the golden moment when Ambient Warrior came together during the mid-90s to create some of the most Balearic Dub ever made. “Music is the greatest traveler, isn’t it?” says Ronnie. “It gets to places the actual artists can’t even get to really.”
The son of an orphaned Jamaican jazz trumpet player and professional boxer who enlisted in the military after stowing away on a boat to London, Ronnie grew up between Germany, Singapore and the UK before becoming a working musician in his mid-teens. A bass player by trade, he honed his skills playing in a series of soul, jazz-funk, blues, rock and reggae bands that performed throughout the UK.
By the time Ambient Warrior released Dub Journey’s, Ronnie and his business partner Ras Joseph were running the Lion Inc. recording studio and record label in Brixton, London. Having set up distribution arrangements with Roots Records (UK) and Semaphore (DEU/NL), they recorded and released a series of singles, compilations and solo albums from a who’s who of roots reggae artists, including Twinkle Brothers, Delroy Washington, Michael Prophet, Alton Ellis, Little Roy, and Ronnie’s own band The Amharic. “Lion was a regular port of call for visiting Jamaican artists,” reflects Ronnie. “When you were in London, it was on the route.”
An accomplished guitarist, producer and recording engineer from Trieste, Italy, Andrea grew up listening to Russian folk, Klezmer and the Italian harmony tradition in a Sicilian-Ukrainian family. After completing compulsory Italian military service, he moved to London to continue studying music. One night, he turned up at Lion Inc. and approached them about running audio engineering classes from the studio.
In Andrea, Ronnie found a collaborator who shared his desire to create borderless music that reflected the diversity of their backgrounds. “I wanted to do something that had no boundaries,” Ronnie explains. “If you’re working on a roots album, it has to sound a certain way, but with Ambient, especially in the nineties, it was just a license to let off. You could do whatever you wanted to do.” “It was a melting pot of influences like London itself,” adds Andrea.
Although they wrote most of II at the same time as they were recording Dub Journey’s, it took them several years to finish off the album. “Things never got done quickly,” Ronnie remembers. By the time it was complete, Roots Records had gone out of business, leaving Lion Inc. without UK distribution. Not long after, their Brixton studio flooded, bringing the label to a close.
These days, Andrea continues to work as a session guitarist, recording engineer and producer in London. Over the last two decades, he has collaborated regularly with Basement Jaxx and released several solo albums. Ronnie, on the other hand, lives on a boat equipped with an onboard studio, where he has recorded a series of oceanic dub albums off the British coast. Twenty-eight years after the release of Dub Journey’s, he recently started working on demos for a third Ambient Warrior album he hopes to record with Andrea in the not-so-distant future.

Having operated as Anoesis since 1994 - Letchworth based producer Howard Dodd now readies a fresh body of work cherry picked from studio sessions spanning 2010 > 2023. 'Frame Jack 1' utilises modular synths through to Casio toys with heavy doses of UK breaks to inaugurate a new label Kranq.
Formations 09 kicks things off with a heady tapestry as snares and wood blocks are braided over warm, psychedelic tones. Amorgos follows with a snappy but low-slung break that is set swinging over gooey pads, snarling low frequencies and more hazy atmospherics.
'Trash Man Broken' follows with an exercise in molten robotics, recalling a Metamatics vibe with it's pin-prick hats, jagged bass notes and colourful melodies. 'Hawassa' then rolls out another deftly mapped 2-step groove that manages to occupy a zone between rude and classy.
'Cargo Cult' then renders a fractal trip - a pastiche of 90's Electronica and Trip Hop that finishes off a highly accomplished batch of productions and signals the birth of a captivating new project in Kranq.

Avision storms into 2020 in fine fashion with his first EP for Maceo Plex's Ellum Audio label.
Playing the decks since just 12 years of age, this American artist grew up in the musically rich New York City scene and is now at the sharp end of it with his own new school techno sound. He has released on key labels like Ben Sims’ Hardgroove, Mark Broom’s Beardman and Teksupport, and is someone that icons like Adam Beyer and Chris Liebing often reach for in their own sets.
He starts off his latest offering with 'Innocence', a bustling techno track with bulky drum programming that is brilliantly loose. It jostles you into action as dark vocals add intensity and makes for a perfectly physical dance floor workout.
Keeping up the pressure is 'Time Lapse', with big hi hats and a driving bassline all interwoven with thundering kick drums that will get the whole club up on its toes. A rising synth in the background adds an air of cosmic exploration and means this tasteful techno trip is enthralling from start to finish.

Having received the data in Italy, Free Voyage owner SMS(IT) got straight to work decoding the data. Inside he found a selection of timeless melodic music, with clear influence taken from travels to the past and future.
Now converted to vinyl format, the music is ready for release on Earth.

When Belgium’s Bonzai Records released Cherrymoon Trax I “The House Of House” in 1994 it was like nothing I had ever heard before. It is a masterpiece that captures the energy and euphoria of rave culture from the mid 90s in such an iconic way. I picked this track out of my record collection a few months ago and felt compelled to create a tribute to this groundbreaking work.

Camargue’ gets a fresh treatment on Drumcode, as a handful of techno’s finest give new life to an R&S classic - with six mixes from the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani, Maceo Plex and Keith Carnal spread across two EP's.
Coming from the studio of CJ Bolland and Portuguese journeyman The Advent, the track was born out of a golden age of Belgium dance music and first released in 1992. It stands as one of the most treasured pieces of vinyl in Adam Beyer’s collection and this six-part compilation of remixes and remakes marks a highpoint in Drumcode’s history.
For part two, Enrico Sangiuliano delivers a trademark cosmic rework underlined by tribal bass stabs and twisted synth lines to accompany the famous riff. It’s an outstanding remake that’s already a big summer favourite for the Drumcode crew.
On the B side, Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani unleash their own groove-injected, future-focused adaption, all the while never losing sight of the misty-eyed spirit of the original. Rounding out the package The Advent drops his own fresh version, a whip-smart cut that chops and changes between pounding drums, dreamy synth interludes and warbled effects.

Akumandra’s newest release, DIGITAL WATER by German producer, Coss, offers a neat, rhythmically fluid sound that, like water, is both dreamy and soothing as well as energetic. In the first of the EP’s four tracks, ENTRY POINT OBSCURING, a syncopated beat exudes rhythmic energy as watersounding synths plunge us into the track’s intricacies, opening the possibility for rapturous introspection.
Track number 2, ESCAPE FROM PELOG SELISIR, contrasts a deep bass with modulated synth-progressions, to deliver a sound that calls for motion as well as reflection. LOVE LETTER FOR YOU emphasizes bright, upbeat progressions to maximize the ecstatic energy built up
throughout the track.
The currents of emotions stirred by the EP culminate with TWOWORLDS, the smoothest track in the EP. A hi hat groove sustains the rhythm as a bassy synth gives amplitude to the track, creating a subaquatic feeling of depth and wonder.
Esencia is beyond proud to share the fourth and final album by Culross Close. Like previous albums it’s both inward and outward facing, something for the individual and the group and ‘Learning To Let Go’ follows this tradition.
Becoming Present is a peaceful refrain, littered with percussion and devotion,encouraging the listener to sit with what is, while Reactive State taps into something else entirely. It’s a hard-hitting ride filled with percussion and decimated drums, woven into a serenading flute that captures the mind for the song’s duration.
The mood changes with Attachments. A tale of two halves, twisting between hypnotic and swirling. Surrender requires time and immersion, as the listener bears witness to an enthralling interaction between drums and keys,eventually drifting into the soul-inflected Grounding.
The magic in Letting Be unfolds naturally. From the majestic string and harp arrangements, to the metronome of the percussion, each musician finds equanimity, place and peace in the composition. Letting Go…well, that speaks for itself.
The album closes with Forward, Only. This is the sound of a group of musicians comfortable in their stride and confident in their thinking. Ready to move with whatever happens.
A mysterious musical outfit said to be consisting of two Swedes with affinity for frogesque sounds and post-trance aesthetics makes out what is CYSP. CYSP is also an acronym of CYbernetic SPatiodynamic, aka the first spatio-dynamic sculpture, having total autonomy of movement as well as axial and eccentric rotation. The sculpture is celebrated as an early work of cybernetic character that made it into the world of art. Now how do these two phenomena relate to each other? I have no clue.. This sounds like it could have been crafted in an eerie barn in the remote countryside, serving as a never-released soundtrack to an occult underground 90's film about urban trolls - it also sounds like it could be glued-together cassette scraps laying around Richard H Kirk's studio. Laden with an almost grotesque amount of soundscaping, synthesized quirks and sonic riddles that would positively provoke any attentive listener (dancer?), it’s still weirdly danceable in the most head banging sense of the word. While pulling from the past - and meta-versically - the past’s image of the future, this is highly contemporary music - smart and stupid, deep and shallow - physical and cybernetic.

It was believed that Triglav has three heads because he ruled these three kingdoms and had a golden binding over his eyes and lips so he could not see people's sins nor speak about them. For the A1 interpret's founder Ohm Hourani revisits “Birds” with his own signature of walking bass and shuffle drums. Sharing this side, Ben Nevile inserts a healthy dose of funk to “Grow mama grow” with a remix that visits a past era with a flavour of modern twist.
The B side commences with a dance floor roller for the title song “Nameless” by Paris's Pepeno and shake expert Ben Vedren.
Closing this four tracker is Montreal's dynamic duo “Flabbergast”. Vincent Lemieux & Guillaume Coutu Dumonts work their own charm on “Birds” pairing the voice with a deep groove accompanied by warm keys.
Delicate Records sheds it’s soft sensitive skin; evolving through a callous cross-Canadian melding of the minds. Dosis is Nap (Isla / Ambien Baby) and ZDBT (1800Haight Street / Phost), an organically masterful combination; the partnership conjuring instinctive chantings of the deep with Naranja and its frisky B side dub.
The title track is a drill in percussive practice, a repetition session for body release. With furious inhale, a grating of timbres and captivating clap-backs are sucked in through the senses, trickling down to the toes. Lured by swampy wubs of sub, amoebic roots in drums and primal hymns drenched out past the horizon. The essence of erosion seeps through on the flip; Nap’s imitable vocals find a home in a hypnotic habitat, stretched duration and gorgeous frolic. Geier aus Stahl is one of the many artistic guises of Leonard Prochazka. No superfluous elements take away from the core experience of his sound. Somewhere a statement from David Byrne crossed our path, able to highlight something of the essence of Leonard's art: “No matter how alienated the subject or the singer might appear, the groove and its connection to the body would provide solace and grounding. But the edgy, uncomfortable stuff was still on the foreground”. The debut album 'Strapazen und Genesung' takes us to an exciting world that twists, squeaks and creaks, yet is grounded by an unmistakable groove.
After bursting onto the scene in late 2017, Hyperloop makes his Drumcode debut with Green Velvet in toe.His 'Mentalizm' EP is a classy example of his versatility, a trio of original works, accompanied by two DJ tools. Beginning on a menacing tip, 'In Your Mind (Reflections)' is a low-end brew of industrial stabs, eerie melodies and subterranean vocals.
'S-Sound' is his collaboration with Chicago legend Green Velvet and is a percussive masterstroke of loops and drum riffs which drive the eight-minute track with all the puffing ferocity of a steam train. 'Spring on the Battlefield' is the perfect contrasting accompaniment, as a warm rush of strings covers a bed of intricate analogue effects and stomping kicks.

JALE makes its Roof Records debut for the seventh release of this established concept.
With the four tracks of this ep, the artist tells us about his new musical explorations: enthralling, sometimes broken, sometimes syncopated rhythms that blend with hypnotic sounds with strong acid contaminations. A total journey that embraces what has been (the influences of the 90s are clearly perceived) and smiles at what will be. Music goes beyond time, order without power is celebrated.

Contagion Vapors was recorded between May 2020 and March 2021, in tandem with 'Transgressive Transmissions'. Both albums have been released by Castles in Space, however they feature completely different sonic energies.
Caught up in the first wave of pandemic doom/gloom which resulted in a bizarre creative bloom for Patrick, both albums have unique sounds anchored in the immense Patrick R Pärk/Kösmonaut discographies. This one is definitely a Kösmonaut record, however.
Patrick’s Contagion Vapors is a vaporwave sonic adventure which
soothes the worn soul like an icy balm with its motorik repetitions and sonic patterns and swirls.
Uncharacteristically upbeat and always positive, the album was a personal exercise in not becoming consumed by COVID isolation and misery. Major influences were Patrick Cowley, Cybotron, Automat, Cluster, and Harmonia and the entire album was recorded / mixed in the midnight witching hours over the course of only 2-3 days.
Ever prolific, Patrick is currently deep diving hard into post Y2K New Age conjurations with his massive Galactic Mirage project which should see another CD box set later this year. There's also some forthcoming Teeth Of Glass vinyl coming from Library Of the Occult later this year and plenty of Patrick’s self released "chrome sonic babies" in between.

One of Larry Heard's most under-rated albums finally remastered and available as full vinyl release for the first time! Known for his classic early house releases Larry Heard's productions always hinted at deepest outer space, but his 1996 Alien album was his first actual science-fiction record. It's almost as polished as the most mainstream dance production, but just as sublime as any Detroit producer. Heard's house roots often show themselves, while the chords and shimmering production make this an album almost on par with Heard's mid-'80s peak. The project was a recording & sound-development experiment that was mostly constructed around a Korg O1/W workstation keyboard that was left at Larry's studio to check out by Victor 'melodious myles' Houston along with some of the staples of his studio, including the Roland d550 and Oberheim Matrix 1000. Mr Fingers magic touch can be heard all over the album, and this showcases the incredible musical talents of the man, who's name by now cant be left out from any hall of fame when you're talking music innovators from the last century! Recommended!

Retromigration returns to Ravanelli Disco Club with a brand new broken beat chanelling track 'Jeffa'. None other than Ron Basejam steps up on remix duties in signature disco don style.
He didn’t come alone though, bringing his friends Nephews to the dance on the B side who deliver sunset house grooves in the form of 'Reingelaxed'. To complete the EP Jkriv remixes 'Reingelaxed' into a synth swirling Balearic gem.
The very first Zeitnot album, ZEITLP01, comes from American deep techno don Roman Debnar. Having previously released on Zeitnot with the 'Dark Matter EP', Roman is following this up with a wider variety of club oriented sounds on ‘X’.
Plate 1 comprises four heavyweight dance tracks, featuring bittersweet rave nostalgia in 'Lightsdown', and the swirling bass swamp of 'Anger Management'.
Plate 2 takes a different turn, down the route of trip-hop and downtempo. Reminiscent of old 90's IDM and breakbeat comps, we see Roman building emotive atmospheres out of his love for hip-hop and electronic music. ‘After Dark’ in particular brings to mind early Black Dog , while on 'Flip Mode' we hear influences from across the pond, in the form of jazzy keys and a stoned out vocal sample.

Inspired equally by the soul and funk of the Black Rio movement and the samba rock innovations of Jorge Ben, Serginho Meriti’s classic debut album presents one of the best - if least known - examples of funky Brazilian soul.
Brazil’s Black Rio movement had a lasting impact on the country’s marginalised black youth. Inspired by the African-American Civil Rights Movement and the revolutionary, politically conscious soul and funk being produced by the likes of James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Gil Scott Heron, Billy Paul and Nina Simone, a new scene began to incubate in Rio’s poor and oft-neglected North Zone - one which put black culture front and centre. At bailes funk (funk balls) revellers proudly sported afros and danced to their own beat while artists such as Banda Black Rio, Trio Ternura, Tim Maia and Emilio Santiago subverted officially-sanctioned Brazilian styles by fusing elements of imported soul, funk and jazz with samba rhythms to create a new form of music they could call their own.
Sérginho Meriti was one of many young artists caught up in the excitement of the movement. Born Sérgio Roberto Serafim and raised in the north Rio suburb of Meriti (from which he’d take his stage name), he began his career with Black Rio funk/soul outfit Copa 7, for whom he penned the stridently funky dance floor hit Som Da Copa 7.
Snapped up by Polydor at the turn of the 80s, Bons Mementos was his first work as a solo artist. It’s the work of a young musician brimming with musical ideas and creating a new take on the Black Rio sound - one he would refer to variously as Meritiense (the sound of Meriti) or as Electric Samba. The title track is perhaps the perfect distillation of his ideas, mixing Black Rio’s funky bass and guitar lines with a healthy dose of the samba rock style developed by Jorge Ben, a pinch of eighties synths, and some of the best call-and-response female vocals this side of Fela Kuti. The result is a rich musical stew that has made the track a compilation favourite and the album hugely collectable among funk connoisseurs.
Elsewhere on an all-killer-no-filler effort, Madureira adds reggae-fied guitar rhythms and low-slung bass to the mix while Malandro’s added bursts of brass give playful homage to Glenn Miller’s Big Band standard In The Mood. Memorias demonstrates Meriti’s mastery of tempo. Beginning with a languid slice of samba rock the track abruptly changes speed half way through for a bright and zippy finish of brass-heavy funk. Serjane adds layers of flute and saxophone the latter adding to the natural warmth of Serginho’s rough-hewn vocals. Tipo is a classic funk workout with some deliciously squelchy synths, while Batalha ends the album with a warm slice of funk, it’s yin and yang melding of joyful horn bursts with mournful vocals a potent demonstration of the sadness that underpins the album’s seemingly sunny soul.
Interviewed recently, Serginho says the message he wanted to convey was that of “love, equality, and a portrait of how we were living at the time... the story of black people coming to Brazil, and the dissatisfaction of our life”. It’s a thought worth bearing in mind while taking in this shimmering gem of an album; one that was crafted with a yearning wish (as yet unfulfilled) that Black Rio’s dreams for black equality in Brazil might one day be realised

After Diogo’s hit record, we are following it up with another set of swinging dance floor detonators! Arriving directly from Brasil, Sérgio presents itself as another moniker from one of the greatest creative minds in all South America, Gabriel Guerra. With dozens of releases scattered over Future Times, Superconscious Records, LAMA, Got Tun, Balaclava Records, or his own 40% Foda/Maneiríssimo, he lands on our lap with a couple of highly effective, UK infused, and slightly nostalgic dance tracks. We’ve allways neutered a profound sense admiration for everything that Guerrinha was releasing under his 40% Foda/Maneiríssimo label, and had the feeling that his vibe was definitely one that we could relate to. Happy, a little wacky, and truly unpretentious dance floor madness! From acknowledging that, to reaching out was just a step. He was super available to work with us, and after the first talks he promptly provided us with a google drive folder with more of 100 unreleased tracks… Yes! You heard it! More than 100 gems of pure creativity ranging from all kinds of genres and across a fucking multiverse of alias and alter egos! So yes, that’s the kind of creative genius we are talking about… Moving from this “garagy” universe, Guerrinha presents us with a set of super fun tracks, which both leans over this infamous side of dance music, as well as it keeps an eye open for the most blatant forms of pop culture. Pure and simple dance floor tracks, to be enjoyed with a smile on your face.
"Is this the sound Sérgio?" or "Is this Sergio's sound?". The question of the questions seems silly, but it was postulated in 2019 to answer Guerrinha a new sound idea: A super appealing garage sound, so that any kind of doubt about the fact that Guerrinha's sets being fun, and that he himself would be able to mix swinging rhythms, would be eliminated. Sérgio is Guerrinha’s pseudonym for this, and since its first release in 2019 with the album “Utensílios” it has strangely become his most played alias, with a few small hits in the small Brazilian scene. After the pandemic drama, he returned in 2022 with the album "Mais Utensílios" and the single "Fantabobi / Riquititas", two releases that again grew the good problem of other djs constantly asking Guerrinha for these tracks. Now he releases the 12'' "Pelo da Churreia" via Discos Extendes, made in 2020 and containing small garage hits from that time. All this information raises the initial questions, since Sérgio is not just a pseudonym, but the curse that grew inside Guerrinha himself, sometimes it's in the appeal that “the bug catches on”.

Flaty & OL’s Serwed return to Huerco S’ West Mineral for their fourth album; 'Serwed IV' mines the vaults for tinny '90s workstation bells and FM pads placed alongside rigorously designed sci-fi drums and textures. The duo take inspiration from commercial background music, from film, documentaries, adverts and installations, re-contextualised with a modern sheen.
Album opener ‘Glare’ deploys Blade Runner-esque midi-woodwind and 4th world pads, and ‘Beroca’ takes us straight to Dopplereffekt’s drumless lab, with added blue-skied textures. 'Contrail' is even more stark, with a simulated harp riff that sounds like it was snatched from Kara-Lis Coverdale’s ‘Aftertouches’, bent around trapdoor slams and simmering drones. On 'Smart Home', the duo nod to YMO, using brittle percussion and simulated instruments to capture the mood, enhanced by dub effects and plucked strings like an edit of Laurie Anderson’s peerless ‘Late Show’, visions of ‘Home of The Brave’ flashing before our eyes.
On 'Heat Shield', wormy, generative rushes add sparkle to blurry hardcore vocals, ‘Technics’ turns dub techno to wavy plastic and 'Phoneme' pairs vibrating high-end with fudged dub and irregular pulses like some re-factored IDM blueprint. We end with ‘Bloomin’s’ Serotonin rush, all gleaming contours and loved-up energies, the best flashback.

Kaijupop is conceived as a record created by an international
supergroup operating under the umbrella of Soft-Bodied Humans. Over the past decade, UK producer David McNamee has curated an impressive series of releases under the Blue Tapes label that highlight various aspects of minimal music, ranging from grime to gugak, American primitivism to Japanese ambient, and released his own longform minimal music under the name Cut A Lonely Figure
McNamee now unveils on vinyl his latest project, Soft-Bodied Humans, a supergroup that transcends boundaries, drawing inspiration from grime, minimalism and industrial alike. Soft-Bodied Humans brings together an eclectic ensemble of like-minded producers, vocalists, and performers, resulting in a diverse and mesmerizing album.

Sept duos pour guitar acoustique et piano préparé is the second duo recording from Stephen O'Malley and Anthony Pateras. Their first together, Rêve Noir (2018), took an electro-acoustic scalpel to a 2011 duo concert for electric guitar and piano, using Revox and digital treatments to twist and smear gig documentation into ghostly echoes and fractured drones. Here, in contrast, the music is entirely acoustic and presented as it was performed, without overdubs. Both players’ choices of instruments are notable: this is O'Malley’s most extensive recording on steel string acoustic guitar (playing an instrument whose previous owners include Marissa Nadler and Glenn Jones) and Pateras return to the prepared piano, which he has rarely employed in recent years, after spending much of the first decade of the 21st century exploring its possibilities.
Recorded during O'Malley’s residency at La Becque on Lake Geneva in the summer of 2021, from the first moments of the opening ‘déjà revé’ the music immediately establishes the distinctive landscape of chiming tones and hovering clouds of resonance explored throughout its one-hour running time. Pateras’ preparations create tolling bell-like tones alive with complex overtones, alongside which O'Malley’s open strings and natural harmonics add a sparkling clarity. While Pateras’ music often uses a densely chromatic harmonic language, these duos are remarkable for their modal simplicity. However, the interaction between the pure intervals of O'Malley’s just-intoned strings and the unstable harmonies created by the piano preparations suspends the music in an oneiric state of hazy ambiguity. Without obvious reference to tempo or meter, the music floats in what the composer Ernstalbrecht Stiebler has called a ‘bottomless sound space’, the temporal placement of events determined by bodily rhythms and the performers’ own listening to (and enjoyment of) the sounds being made.
Heard one way, this music can seem striking in its consistency, almost environmental. Attending more carefully, the listener hears the pitch sets and tunings changing throughout the album’s length. Each piece has its own character, subtly distinguished from the others through mood, pacing, and timbre. On ‘déjà voulu’, for instance, O'Malley makes prominent use of slide, the woozy, bending pitches weaving through a series of lush arpeggiated chords from the piano. ‘Déjà senti’, on the other hand, is particularly spare, the gestures spaced out to the extent that they often float in isolation against the background of fading resonance. Much of ‘déjà su’ is built around a slowly pulsing single prepared piano tone, creating an almost ominous tension, whereas the sparkling guitar harmonics and arpeggios of the closing ‘déjà raconté’ have a gently triumphal air. Recorded during a period when O'Malley and Pateras were grieving the loss of recently departed friends and collaborators, these seven duos possess a reflective, at times almost mournful quality. More importantly, though, they are imbued with other qualities that can arise from personal loss: a clarity that allows one to clear away the inessential, to begin again, to renew one’s faith in friendship and music.

Let me tell you what, for this number 17 we have the first 10inch record that will get to the stores from Sakskøbing’s headquarters. What’s the material on this 10” let’s unravel together: On the A side we have an original production by Dan who goes by the moniker The Jaffa Kid. This hard-working producer has released and self-released an incredible body of work, which is for you to find out, so rather than reading this, go and check it out yourself, surely you will be impressed. We are very happy to welcome him to the label family with this dark acid tool sprinkled with doves chirping straight from the good old 90’s.
The B side is taken for a spin by none other than UK’s holy grail Scott Featherstone who actively tours with his live set under Triform alias and has produced records under his other projects such as “Beyond A Void”, “Glorious Springtime” and “Lemmon Grass”. Strong recommendation to check it all out of course as its swarming with total & true heavy hitters. Here Scott has taken the original track to the different way and turned it into the freaky house number that bubbles the brains in the sweet manner that it does. Tiptoes joins the SlothBoogie roster this October with the ‘Good Times Incoming’ EP, comprised of four originals from the Scottish artist.
Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, Tiptoes is a time-served DJ/Producer who has been in the game for over 15 years and has performed at a variety of venues worldwide. As a DJ, Tiptoes sound traverses from Jazz to Jungle through Detroit, Disco, Techno, Garage, Broken Beat, Deep House and everything in between, always finding that balance between energy and soul which crosses over into his productions also.
Up first on the package is ‘Born Slippery’, a filter house workout fuelled by an amalgamation of funk infused bass, guitar and brass licks alongside swinging drums and dynamic filter work. ‘Green Room’ follows next and lays down soulful strings, stuttering vocal cuts and plucked bass atop an organic drum groove.

2020 was supposed to be a year of joy in Malka Tuti, celebrating and commemorating 5 years of our existence.
After several celebratory dates and many plans were postponed due to coco-19 and its collateral damage, we have understood that the universe is trying to tell us something, and we’ve read it as SLOW DOWN!
After months of contemplation and excessive thoughts, we have come to the inevitable conclusion that 7 is simply a better number then 5. Therefore we are now celebrating 7 years of existence.
To share our festive mood, we are releasing a 2XLP compilation filled with goodies supplied by our close friends, and their friends.
For us, the Sheva (Seven in Hebrew) compilation represents a large chunk ofthe sonic spectrum that is the Malka Tuti multiverse to date. Whether its Red Axes’s dance floor punk, the tribal minimalistic psychedelia of Decha, the endless soundscapes of Vactrol Park, or the post-pop attitude of Xen and Shari Vari, one can hopefully notice that gentle thread weaving it
all together. That thread is Malka Tuti.
On the compilation you can find many unreleased remixes to tracks we’ve released on the label, from amazing artists such as Nicola Cruz, Phew, Khidja & Manfredas. Each Remix gives new life to our back catalogue’s feel.
In addition, Xen is also back on Malka Tuti with 2 new songs, Blue & Cats in collaboration with brother Yoav. Both songs were recorded in the winter of 2017 In Uhrwald Orange studios outside Düsseldorf, with comrade Sebastian Lee Philipp (of Die Wilde Jagd fame) on the mixing decks and engineering hat.
In addition to his collaboration with Xen, You can find Yovav In ace form here, contributing a mid tempo discoish banger like only he knows how.. Even more fun comes from Vactrol Park, our dear modular brothers, showing off their deeper than deep sonic aesthetics and minimalistic groovy rhythms on Seemingly Strange. We are also thrilled to welcome a dear friend Benedikt Frey to the family. Expect some banging stuff from him in the future on MT.
Last but definitely not least, Lithuanian superhero Manfredas is responsible for one of our favourite secret weapons of the last couple of years, an alternative remix to Shari Vari’s Dance Alone, never released before. This Remix is a trippy pop excursion to the sunnier side of things.

Always exciting when Klasse Wrecks comes with a new label project!! This one they do together with Kid Who and is a series of records showcasing previously unreleased house, techno, acid and more from the 90s Amiga Demoscene.
Created using early sample sequencers such as ProTracker, these tracks radiate the authentic energy of techno's golden era - and they've been hiding in plain sight in Demoscene web repositories for many years. It was during the long days of the 2020 lockdowns that Kid Who began to explore these archives, sifting through thousands of tracks to eventually amass a collection of several hundred of his favourites.
Curated by Klasse Wrecks and Kid Who in close collaboration with the talented artists behind them, the .NFO project aims to bring some of these finds to the broader dance music community via a series of VA 12"s and mixes. Tip!! Vinyl comes with A4 insert and stickered sleeve.

After a short hiatus, Distorted Sensory Perception returns… this time in the form of a 5 track various artists release featuring music from Vertical Dimension, Encrypted Theory, Fly Insect, ANITTA & Lerosa.
The record opens with atmospheric acid electro track titled ‘In Between’ from Malta’s Vertical Dimension (who is also ½ of Moodex). A fine example of melancholic machine-made music with a raw, emotional edge. Includes infectious drums, moody atmospheric keys and formidable basslines.
A-side closer comes from anonymous duo, ‘Encrypted Theory’. A diced-up break-beat laden journey full of delay drenched synth parts & a bumping dubbed out bassline. A unique balance of ambient synthesis, rippling arps and frantic sliced up beats that together provide a unique sound with a mood of its own.
B-side opens with a dark and doomy electro track dripping with Dopplereffekt vibes. ‘Greyskull’s Revenge’ from UK artist and Manchester native, Fly Insect. Titled in honour of a hardy neighbourhood cat and his pursuit for vengeance. A worthy sonic statement full of sinister synthesis.
B2 comes from Ukrainian artist, ANITTA. Her efforts in the studio created ‘Recondite Building’. A sweet, sorrowful take on ambient/braindance/electronica. Offering warm pads, franticly morphing acid squelch-lines that dip, dive & slide over dusty broken beats.
The record closes with a slow-mo dystopian electro number from Dublin’s Lerosa entitled ‘Discoloured’. Minimal chugging EBM-esque percussion drenched in dark Kraftwerkian style arps, heartfelt leads and a menacing bassline that carries

After last year’s Black Clouds Above The Bows, Amsterdam-based collective Wanderwelle presents the second entry of their trilogy for Important Records, which is dedicated to telling the story of the climate crisis and its effects on coastal areas around the globe. For this album the artists incorporated the sound of a dying organ, fatally wounded in a climate related event.
All Hands Bury The Cliffs At Sea consists of electro-acoustic threnodies for an environment at risk due to the effects caused by receding coastlines around the globe. Wailing odes tell the story of the catastrophic activity of eroding waves and winds shaping the land that are enhanced by the climate crisis. First hand experiences and meetings with local maritime experts on the subject of these receding coastlines inspired Wanderwelle to compose these albums.
During their travels, the artists stumbled upon a small church in a town on the east coast of Scotland. The building was quite damaged, the roof was being stabilized and the ancient walls showed great tears running vertically down the structure. One of the church’s volunteers told Wanderwelle that the damage had been caused by a nearby cliff that collapsed in the sea. An event increasingly common in the region.
The church organ was ruined in such a way that it was deemed unplayable, as most of the pipes were gravely damaged and in dire need of restoration. Musical instruments directly affected by the environment -and especially the climate crisis- are quite rare. Despite the damage, the artists were allowed to record a few tones of the instrument with their equipment, which was actually meant to be used for field recordings later that day.
In Black Clouds Above The Bows, antique cavalry trumpets were recorded and manipulated by Wanderwelle to sound an environmental alarm in the same manner as they were once used to warn men on the battlefield. Similar processing was used on the recordings of the dying organ, resulting in spectral, deconstructed tones beyond recognition. In addition to the damaged organ, the artists recorded piano, cello and harmonic additive synthesizers in later stages of the composition process, manipulating these sounds to mimic the perpetual activity of the sea shaping the land.Furthermore, a great deal of inspiration was found in maritime superstition, lore and mythology.
As told in the legend of Aspidochelone, a legendary sea creature of enormous size, was once mistaken for an island. After sailors docked and lit a fire, the beast submerged resembling a land mass sliding into the sea. The album’s title is derived from the saying ‘All Hands Bury The Dead’, a maritime burial phrase, as the duo likes to think ‘All Hands’ refers to all of mankind since we are all responsible for these impending catastrophes.

In a flurry of madcap sampling pitched towards the heat of the night, Pedro Zopelar builds on the premise of his 2022 electro- funk love letter Charme, shifting his approach towards a particular
90s flair and a method with a specific end result. Ritmo Freak took root in studio experiments for a momentous — and rare — live set at São Paulo festival Não Existe in 2023, where Zopelar was caught up in one of those right-place, right- time moments we carry with us through life. As he explains himself: “This album is dedicated to freaky club culture. While I was playing at the festival there was a crazy tropical storm outside and the room was packed with the freakiest crowd. I’ve tried hard to immortalize that feeling on this record.” With the intended energy in mind, Zopelar focused on a particular mode of production centred around 12-bit sampling from his ample record collection. Considering his background as a trained pianist, here his musical instincts are forced to work within the limitations of short, snappy cuts from dusty 12”s. The lo-fi sound sources and the resourceful ways Zopelar works them gives the record an unmistakable old-skool flavour which he applies to forthright house, techno and electro funk rhythms, always taking care to draw out the soul of the music.
The stylistic touchstones flow past thick and fast on Ritmo Freak. From the amped up fierceness of the title track with its gaudy, cut n’ paste, vintage techno flavour to the effervescent electro funk of ‘Gabriellinha’s Boogie’ on to the surreal Balearic inversion of ‘Distraction’, this is a high-velocity, endlessly charming record bursting with the musicality Zopelar has made his name on. As the driving force behind many warehouse parties in São Paulo,
Zopelar has been immersed in club culture for a long time, and his distinctive catalogue of jazz, funk, acid and techno has graced highly respected labels like Apron, Selva Discos and Mother Tongue. Throughout, he’s displayed an affinity for the tangled roots of the groove with an open-eared, big-hearted sound. That’s what comes through on Ritmo Freak

III is the third studio album by French DJ Bob Sinclar. First release February 2003, and reached number 24 on the French albums chart. It features the hits : "The Beat Goes On" and "Kiss My Eyes" An Uncut review from May 2003 found that while Sinclar"s music is "frothier and camper than ever" on III, he "has a new-found focus and vitality ... Whereas so much electroclash lacks melodic thrills, there"s an abundance of crisp, pulsating tunes here. And despite the disco flashbacks, Le Friant favours twisted re-interpretations over dead-handed pastiches". The review concluded by noting that "fans of Daft Punk"s Discovery will love it". Jack Smith, writing for BBC Music, felt that III is Sinclar"s homage to French disco artist Cerrone, given Sinclar"s compilation Cerrone by Bob Sinclar (2001), and his collaboration with songwriters Lene Lovich and Alain Wisniak on III, both of whom previously composed several songs for Cerrone. While acknowledging Sinclar"s intention for a "new sound" after being an "international man of mystery" on his first two records, Smith opined that "herein lies the problem... III, his latest opus, is nothing less than average, and at times dull", summarising that the album"s "pluses are few and far between".
