Phonk D is back on Exploited’s hallowed Black Jukebox series following the success of his #29 takeover earlier this year. You just can’t keep a good man down...

‘Let’s Shake’ leads the way with serious funk intent, mixing a thumping MJ-esque bassline with some of that late ‘70s / early ‘80s synth magic. Phasing guitar licks sidle up against spunky horn swells and sassy vocal blasts. It’s a track that has ‘party-starter’ written all over it.

‘Reality Dance’ is a chuggier beast, building slowly through looping guitar-and-bass plucks until a feel-good melody emerges. This low-slung, low-tempo groove is in no hurry to lay out its funky machinations, making for a perfect early-evening floor-filler as cocktail glasses clink and glitterballs bling.

‘Players Anthem’ chunks things up with conga-inflected groove and an arpeggiated bassline throb underpinning swooning female vocal harmonies. It rocks a simple arrangement that lets the groove do the talking, with sustained string notes adding an element of tension at the requisite moments.

‘No Limits’ sees Phonk D team up with old sparring partner Sascha Ciminiera for another hot collab. The bouncing off-beat groove pumps pleasingly in classic disco fashion, with a joyous mood built through Rhodesy chords and a scintillating synth line. Swelling horns are buried deep in the mix in the second half to help propel the track highe

Washington collective, The 3 Pieces, privately-pressed Iwishcan William on their own DL Records in 1982. The 12 has Discogs, for one, confused. Is it soul, rap, jazz, go-go, funk, electro, or educational? By nature of its birthplace and date of birth, it`s all of those.

Synths shimmer in harp-like glissando. The bass grumbles, rumbles, machine-made. The beat pops and locks. The whole thing grooving and exuding positivity. One part the cosmic funk of say Cloud One`s Patty Duke. Another, the balearic chug of Will Powers` Adventures In Success. Like Brother D it looks to “agitate, educate, and organize”, and stirs in the sentiments of Razzy`s I Hate Hate. Imagine if the Last Poets jammed with sister Sarah Webster Fabio. Keys parp like car horns, a real trumpet blows a Don Cherry solo, but the track really revolves around its sweet Sesame Street call-and-response chorus:

“I wish love. I can love. I will love. I am love.”

Idjut Boy Dan Tyler then ties up the package, well he actually kinda sends it out into space - expanding everything in echo. NYC Peech Boys-esque delay. The result is a mind-blowing, psychedelic, almost ambient, Larry Levan-like, Paradise Garage dub. Where fragments of song fly at you from four corners. Trippily pan from left to right. The horn blasts now paying tribute to King Tubby`s Hi-Fi. François Kevorkian going bang!

MAJOR HARRIS, one time member of the Delfonics, kicks off 2016 with a 'major' slab of Northern Soul in the shape of his dancefloor anthem 'Call Me Tomorrow'. Recorded in 1968 for Okeh Records this non-hit rarity has soared in value in recent times changing hands for up to £500 and making it a worthy debut for the new season. After leaving Okeh in 1974 Harris signed to Atlantic Records and scored a string of R&B hits including his top ten gold disc 'Love Won't Let Me Wait'.
WALTER JACKSON is no stranger to the rare soul scene but perhaps his least likely dance floor hit is his 1965 soulful rendition of Pete Seeger's political folk song 'Where Have All The Flowers Gone'. First introduced at Manchester's famed Twisted Wheel club and packed the floor at Wigan Casino circa 1977.

With interest in Disco as strong as ever, we continue to mine the SAM Records catalogue for Disco treasures. “Free” by Rhyze is one of the catalogue’s lesser known titles, but with its inspired rolling horn hits sprinkled throughout the song and its funk based organ and keys, it’s got all the elements for a current hit among disco and house afficionados. World renowned and Grammy award winning producer Louie Vega recognized this a few years back even before disco was back in the spotlight and gave it a massive injection of modern dancefloor energy. And now the universally recognized “King Of the Edit” Danny Krivit has put his unique musical touch on this disco funk jam. On the B Side is another disco treasure from legendary Phillie based producer John Davis. “Love Magic” had all the memorable and classic elements of the late 70’s disco era. Produced at Sigma Sounds in Phillie, the song is embued with lush strings, over-the-top funky lead guitar and throbbing bass combined with sulty female vocals singing to one of the John’s consistently superb tunes. Danny Krivit brings out the hottest elements for the special 45 RPM 7" release.

"2020" and 'Bordello A Parigi' hitting the ground running with new music. 'Hypnotique' is the newly minted moniker of synthesizer star Sergio Mesa (IAMNOTAROBOT) and David Jornet alongside the mellifluous vocals of Maia J. This debut is centred around one very special track "La Pénombre".

A steady kick introduces the piece, Maia’s words circling the rumbling rhythms. Vocoder breathes, care of Jornet, steady the percussion before bright and bold keys strike. The optimism of those notes is balanced by the lyrics, heartfelt and pierced with a romance laden lament to produce a simply sublime piece of synth wave.

The flip is occupied, in true maxi single style, by the instrumental version. Those incandescent chords take centre stage and are given space to radiant their warmth as snares support in this brilliantly joyful work.

Detroitalo merges the best of both worlds - Detroit and Italo. The proclamation of an entirely new genre is accompanied by Bungalo Disco`s latest outing - the Detroitalo E.P. Italo Brutalo`s latest masterpiece on your favorite label. Detroit stands for innovation and its unique character - always several steps ahead. In contrary `Italo Disco` songs are simple, basic and catchy - and therefore appealing to the masses. Combining these two genres might feel like inbreeding of the most severe degree : It´s so obvious and at the same time so unimaginable. It almost feels like two lovers who had been at war for generations and now-after reconciliation- have the urge to finally let go their mutual desire.
All songs on this release are legitimate descendents of Italo Disco and Detroit Techno. Starting off with "La Bambola" which can literally be called the big sister of the Detroitalo offspring, it´s gripping arpeggio line leaves nothing to be desired and instantly indicates in which direction Detroitalo is heading. The record`s second and eponymously named track perfectly reflects the new style with its restless bassline. More Detroitalo siblings are to be found on the flipside of the release. "Down the Drain" with its acid elements and techno-ish Italo arpeggio, sounds like it was
directly transferred from the 80ies to the year 2020 and far beyond. Ultimately, you can get a glimpse of what driving in the "Motor City" looks like. On the one hand stop-and-go-traffic on the other speeding through endless alleys of the grim and bleak City of Detroit. A murky bassline combined with apocalyptic strings and effects set the perfect mood for rollin through the D at nighttime.

Mermaids return to the sacred black wax after a five year break. It appears to have been time well spent, as their sound has matured into a rhythmic, expansive feast.

Coming on like a psychotropic, hallucinatory distillation of their anything-goes More Ritual show on Netil Radio, this action-packed EP is an evocative, cosmic journey that defies classification. There are sprinkles of deep house, disco and bass with a tropical, outward looking feel.

Opening track Crystal Eyes patiently broods it’s way up the energy ladder, winding around birdsong, field recordings, flamenco guitars and ear-worm grade drum patterns that grow into a propulsive, bass-driven finale.

Find The Light merges a driving a low-end with plaintive keys and sparkling percussion; high-energy dreamer music for weary-legged dancers.

The B-side kicks the mission off into a voodoo state with Raising The Altar; a mysterious and intrepid slo-mo juggernaut that carries the listener through a shamanic odyssey with enough sway to topple a pyramid.

Gilded Key closes the set with an uplifting, strings and percussion drenched groover that will leave you grinning widely, still drenched in the steam-heat of the ritual.

Following a year of club closures and festival cancellations, 2020 was a year unlike any other. 13 years ago, while Jerome Derradji was Djing in Liverpool, he was approached by a young lad named Andy Ash.

Andy handed Jerome a CD. It was so great that all the tunes ended up on “Carnival De L’Spirit”, his (now legendary) debut D12” for Stilove4music.

In the last decade, Andy has been releasing critically acclaimed House and Disco 12”s on some of the best labels on the planet such as On The Prowl, Delusions of Grandeur, Dessous, People Must Jam and many others.

Finally on March 29th, Andy will drop “Not At Home”, his first (official) full length on Still Music.

In more than a decade, Andy’s production has matured and evolved. It is now more sonically subtle,
superbly arranged and it seamlessly brings you straight to Detroit, Chicago and New York with the perfect blend of Disco, Garage, Acid and House.

“Not At Home” is a fantastic DLP with 6 songs that showcase how much Andy has mastered his craft while staying true to his roots. This is how real house music sounds like.

We don’t really know Bruno “Patchworks” Hovart’s secret but we’re always thrilled to get a taste of his proven production skills. After two acclaimed LP’s as Mr President released over the last decade, the Disco ruler is back with some groovy ideas to put the country into clubs again. One Night is indeed a shiny celebration of the genuine spirit of Soul and Disco, always coming with Bruno’s modern touch, fitting all the criteria to become an instant club classic. From start to end, Mr President’s blend of grooves and subtle jazz harmonies brings a definitive Roy Ayers’ feeling to the compositions. Developing his vision along six titles, Mr President certainly knows how to produce hits for modern dancefloors. Just like on his previous albums, Bruno plays most instruments, when not even singing catchy vocals. Patchworks has been a ubiquitous artist since more than 25 years now, from the House years in the nineties to his recent involvement on different Favorite’s releases like Joao Selva, Pat Kalla, or the last EP of Leroy Burgess & Saving Coco. More globally, through all these years and various projects, Bruno “Patchworks” Hovart’s established himself as an unequalled producer, both in term of quantity and quality, fulfilling his wide passion for music and groove.
Some could compare his path to famous predecessors such as Patrick Adams, Pierre Jaubert, Patrick Cowley or Jean-Pierre Massiera, who like him, have all stayed quite underrated and in the shade of the many classics and hits they gave birth to. 'Music For Us' is Italo-Disco in its pure state! If the two original versions on this 12inch reissue's main side by House of Music are "untouchables" as the "purists" rightly claim, the rebuilt version by Danilo Braca on the flip must also be considered a masterpiece! The original vocal is hot, Helene has a very sexy voice, while the instrumental has a strong groove, thanks to the excellent synthesizers and bass. It seems that Junei's 1987 'Let's Ride' was inspired by this milestone published five years earlier by Stefano Zito.
The sequences of this song, which has become legendary, now sound good, precise and without the distortion of the previous reissues.
By turning the vinyl you'll find a later work by Stefano Galante, the same composer and arranger who, along with Claudio Casalini, at the end of the 80s created a song renamed 'Music For All Of Us'. 13 sumptuous minutes completely rebuilt by Danilo Braca. The Italian DJ based in the Big Apple is a true magician in radically transforming a song without losing its original charm. His version, renewed with a more modern and universal taste, will certainly please everyone. Very captivating, it will attract many new young Italo-Disco fans.

After massive support from MCDE, Feel my Bicep, Mike Huckerby, and many many others we are over-the-moon to be re-releasing the all-time party classic, My People - (Disco Nights Mix) released some years ago on Landed, it's high time this track was repressed, but this time switched to black vinyl and given a full side for a louder press.

Limited Vinyl - Edits for the Dancefloor!

Mathias Modica's "Sonic Rohstoff" is the new album on Berlin-based label Kryptox Music, Toy Tonics' and Gomma Records' sub label for new forms of Jazz & Electronica. Over the past two decades, Mathias he has made a name for himself by discovering and breaking new talent and styles of music. He produced albums with James Murphy and Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem, Peaches, Asia Argento, The Rammellzee and WhoMadeWho just to name a few. The album is a journey through abstract downtempo vibes, lofi jazz and futuristic electronica. This is Modica's first album under his own name, following three albums under his monikers Kapote and Munk. All instruments are performed by Modica himself, embellished by guest musicians from the new Berlin Jazz scene. Most people might know Modica from his earlier works as a producer, keyboard player and founder/ creative mind behind Toy Tonics, Gomma and Kryptox.

We are pleased to introduce our last discovery Ella May, born and raised in Sweden. In the early 90's, she worked as backing dancer and singer for both Swedish and international artists such as Jazzy B, Papa Dee among others. Boogie Butt is currently working on our forthcoming projects featuring this gorgeous singer who has a grasp on Funk, Soul & Jazz. Her warm and charming tonality spectrum makes all the tracks really hot.

A side "Just Remember" is the original Funk version produced and arranged by Ian Ash as an tribute to Luther Vandross' mega hit "Never Too Much".

B Side brings a massive remix by renowned French producer Magoo. He fives the tracks the boogie sound just like in D Train productions. His versions gets straight into Modern Funk, just like the best of Prelude Records.

With an Arturo Micro brute synthesizer put through psychedelic effects, Modern Ruins keeps the flame of Andrew Weatherall and Suicide burning through times of isolation and disarray. This Synth Wave/New Wave experience of an album, released on LP on Höga Nord Rekords, sums up 2020 with its dark and cold sound.

The title speaks for itself: “Unemployment Disco Line” reflects the desperation in the sound and the reverb-drenched vocals in the back of the soundscape comes from deep within the Covid hole. Sick, fed up and restless!

Drawing influences from masters like the legends above,Rowland S. Howard, Johan Balance + Peter Christopherson et cetera, this debut album by Modern Ruins sums up four decades of underground club music and no matter how long this pandemic goes on we are in “Nothing Blues” until the dance floors open again.

From the international cross-over hit ‘Make Luv’ produced under his Room 5 moniker, his Junior Jack alias allowed him to explore a much clubbier sound. Releasing a number of Defected catalogue essentials including ‘Thrill Me’ and ‘E Samba’ as Junior Jack, his joyous vocal cut ‘Hold Me Up’ has been the only time Vito has used the aptly named Glory project, featuring the unmistakable vocals of Jocelyn Brown. Released originally in 2003, this hugely popular track now appears on a special 12” package from Defected with remixes from some of the label’s nearest and dearest. Opening with Riva Starr’s fiercely funky Tangerine Funk Vocal Mix, Full Intention’s Michael Gray follows up with his own joyous, piano-laden remix. On the flip, Vito’s JJ Vocal Mix places Jocelyn’s flawless, uplifting top-line centre stage, before Defected’s favourite Dutchman Ferreck Dawn closes out the package with his club-ready version.

Banoffee Pies Records 16th Original Series release comes via a 4 track Split EP collaboration between Kincaid, and Zenzizenz, the ambient moniker of techno producer Viers. After a long year behind us, and likely ahead, this record takes a temporary step into the calm and adds reflection to the blurred months that passed.

The release is a collection of textural bumps and melodies opening with Kincaid's 9 minute "Slow Stumble Home" - an aptly titled down tempo trip through a confused space, layered with composition, like a Playstation home screen theme on Mushrooms. Calm follows with two tracks from Zenzizenz - "Returning From Home", a steady meditation through rumbling sounds soon shift to a new mood on the B side. "Falling Off" offers a more lethargic wandering mood through the marshland before BP016 comes to it's close with "Single Cell", the 2nd Kincaid track, which concludes with a chaptered 4x4 structure and slow bursts of energy within. Clandestine Boogie are back, enlisting Omsk's Sunner Soul to provide the goods for their third release. The title track 'Voyager 84' sets the scene perfectly drawing you in with dreamy swelling synths, fizzing hats, and chunky hits alongside choice lo-fi vocal snippets & cosmic top lines - smooth as you like!

The popular song by indie disco producer LUXXURY and fellow LA duo Scavenger Hunt (recently released by Future Disco as the lead single from the London tastemaker's recent Poolside Sounds compilation) finally gets a limited vinyl 12" with several roof party friendly mixes. Includes LUXXURY's own rework of the song, along with an instrumental that emphasizes the sunny live bass, percussion and Sade-esque guitar parts; plus a deliciously chill remix from impakt spotlighting the vocals that give this sultry duet so much swagger.

Whiskey Pickle returns with yet another 12" of eclectic leftfield deepness, this time around from prolific Italian producer DJ Rocca.

The first cut off the record 'Detox' is reminiscent of the early 80’s electronic sound with nice mellow synths and a clever breakbeat. The next track is the title cut 'Tropicale 17' a lovely arpeggiated bell laden jam that sounds something like Kraftwerk lost in the Japanese wilderness.

Quiet Force were the German duo of producer Thilo T.C. Rex and multi-instrumentalist Stephan Töteberg. Signed to Klaus Schulze`s Innovative Communications in the late 1980s, they produced four albums for the pioneering electronic imprint. They also released two singles on Italian label Les Folies Art, co-produced by Sergio Pisano. Mind Fair have licensed one of these to their reissue arm, Rogue Cat Resounds.
To try to describe Listen To The Music (For Love And Emotions) I`d ask you to imagine an Italo remake / remodel of Art Of Noise`s Moments In Love. Slightly “danced-up”. Sporting Max Headroom Fairlight stutters, and fretless bass flourishes. Synthesized strings, glissando and pizzicato. Mediterranean reeds and surf. Peppered with a lover`s laughter and ecstatic shouts. It could quite easily have been a template for The Grid`s Flotation. It`s definitely something for you file next to Dancing Fantasy in your Cafe Del Mar collection.

During the 1970s and 80s, the city of Boston and its environs produced some of the era's most iconic music stars, from rock megaliths like Aerosmith and The Cars to disco and soul celebutantes Donna Summer, New Edition and Tavares. These artists emerged from Beantown's thriving underground music scene to fnd global success, but what about the countless contemporaries who never made it beyond the local circuit Native DJ, producer and bass player Serge Gamesbourg began digging in the crates for forgotten gems more than two decades ago; emerging in 2018 with his frst BBE compilation, lovingly titled Boston Goes Disco! 'I wanted to shed light on more obscure & unknown disco & boogie records outta Boston and the surrounding areas; basically small label and privately pressed late 70s and early 80s dance music from Massachusetts.' Turning detective as he began to track down many an obscure artist to license music for the album, Gamesbourg often found Boston's legendary Berklee College of Music to be the common denominator for many bands throughout the years. 'A lot of these cats came here real young to study from various parts of the country, met the other band members and wrote music and performed locally before fnishing their studies and moving on.' With artwork paying homage to 80's rap compilation 'Boston Goes Def', Boston Goes Disco! provides an exciting insight into the city during its most culturally fertile period, uncovering a rich musical history previously only known to those who were there.

To celebrate the eighth record, we have a special white label affair coming up from none other than HDSN, who passionately ripped the heart and soul out of three new tracks once again. Woven together with organic, electronic textures but also displaying an undoubted soulful quality, The Game represents a sound that is born out of a deep love and appreciation for the music.


Indeed, the title track is definitely the peak time bomb on the record. The track is wrapped up in a kicking groove, powerful drums, a driving baseline and nice looped vocals - all combined to make for a sure crowd-mover, which is gonna throw any crowd into an uncontrollable frenzy as soon as the deep bass and soulful sounds blast through the speakers. “The Power” really encompasses what house music is all about: it's a feeling of unity, no matter your race or sexuality. It’s pure positivity, with its roots in gospel and soul.


The hypnotizing Rhodes line and the blistering vocals provide the listener with a real chance to rediscover the lightheartedness lost in the chaos of modern life. Positive and infectious, this one is impossible not to love. The Italian Duo Club Paradiso coming from diverse and ever-evolving music backgrounds, they started their collaborative project in 2016. Romagna, Adriatic Riviera, is what they call home and also the primal inspiration behind Club Paradiso. Their first album “Esotica Erotica Psicotica” is out on april 26th on Mondo Groove with Kompakt distribution, follow up to the acclaimed 2017 single Panoramica, and is a wonderful patchwork of colours. Opener Romagna Tropicale transports Riviera to a tropical island, Tuco mixes arpeggiating lines with a western harmonica and a distant spoken, Solo tu with the voice of Francesca Amati is a sensual, slo-mo synth-pop beauty, and Echoes a throbbing deep house number. The B-side opens with Flauto Cosmico, a killer Afro/Cosmic track with a folky flute, Okinawa has the voice of Niconote aka the legendary Nicoletta Magalotti of Violet Eves fame and it’s simply a memorable song with an eastern vibe in the music, La Rabbia Saudita, with a special Daniele Baldelli & Marco Dionigi featuring, is half part Arabic and half part funky, and the closing track, Mirage, is, yes, like a mirage. You can’t miss this.

Four years after releasing 'Exotic Jazz Impressions From Hungary' Budabeats Records proudly presents another exciting selection of some long forgotten and rare pieces of Hungarian popular music.

This time their focus is on the non-existing soul scene of 70's Hungary, which, however produced a handful of gems that could have been released anywhere in the world and had not disappointed any soul head of the era.
Zsuzsa Cserhati was one of the many tragic figures of Hungarian pop history: a celebrated singer who could never use all her potential because of some shady characters of the monopolistic music industry obstructing her carrier. Her two cuts featured on this 10" are the most interesting ones she ever recorded.
'Puha Sohajok' is a sensual but tight soul tune, no other title could describe it better than 'Soft Sighs'. The producers of her second track on here, 'Ne Nezz a Napba' probably had a thing for 'Les Fleur' by Charles Stepney and Minnie Riperton but hey, who could blame them?

'Harangzugas' is the sole side Aniko Baliko ever recorded but what a song it is!
Mellow mid-tempo soul with a slight disco feeling, unmistakably cool.

Kati Bontovics has been a renowned singer in Hungary since the early 70's known mostly for her jazz tinged works, both on her own and with many different acts.
'Holnap Megallnak az Orak’ is a groovy orchestral soul tune which we would be right to call a paraphrase of one of the most well-known standards of the genre.
Originally all four songs were released on very limited domestic 7" singles only now all of them being obscure and sought after even in Hungary.
This is your chance to get them on a strictly limited (300 hand-numbered copies worldwide) 10" single including a one-page colour book insert so you can pimp up your copy individually.

Finally, at the B2 spot is Day Old Data by Castle Queenside. Guitar riffs, EP licks, epic key changes and a bassline that'll get any party moving, Day Old Data is the perfect end to this debut release and a worthy addition to any DJs secret weapons.

Unnamed 3 is the 2nd release on Darius Syrossian's Moxy Muzik label. Following on from 'Dance of the Shaman' this original by Darius Syrossian is a Disco flavoured tough house number with deep sub bass driving the track forward & crisp disco stabs littering the track in all the right places.

For those that were feeling the vinyl only 'Funkflex' track by Darius Syrossian which sold out in 9 days, you will 100% feel this one also. The name Unnamed 3 was given to this track by Darius because when Eats Everything asked if Darius had any new tracks to send over Darius had literally finished three new tracks in the studio & they were all still untitled, and the files were sent over as unnamed 1, 2 & 3.

Eats Everything then played this one on his BBC RADIO 1 show & announced it as Unnamed 3 & the title has stuck since, with lots of people asking about the release date after hearing it on Eats Everything's show.

The remixes on this e.p come from Christian Burkhardt & Tommy Vicari Jnr. Christians Burkhardt's remix is on a more minimal vibe with slick drums & pounding kick drum that give the track a peak time set feel, but this remix retains the disco flavours enough to add some spice to the remix.

Tommy Vicari Jnr's remix is a lush deep house affair with layered pads and hypnotic chords which give the track a dreamy feel, this is one of those trademark Tommy Vicari Jnr productions that oozes class, and its one for those that like real House true music.

Available on limited edition triple vinyl (via DJ specialty shops) this is a compilation of nine tracks remixed (between 1979 and 1982) by Larry Levan, the DJ behind New York's famously influential nightclub, The Paradise Garage. Levan is a producer and remixer who, though he died in 1992, continues to be cited as one of the industry's greatest and most revered. Each of the nine individual full-length tracks was DIGITALLY REMASTERED specifically for this project. The sound quality is brilliant! The compilation comes complete with comprehensive liner notes giving the label's history, its relationship with Levan and anecdotes about each of the nine remixes and how each came about.

This 1982 Italo Disco/Boogie classic gets the reissue treatment complete with instrumental on the flip and original centre label artwork!

SoSure Music continue to celebrate the legendary work of ‘Directors Cut’, one of house music’s most memorable partnerships. This time Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper’s euphoric vocal house classic, ‘Get Over U’ feat. B Slade, gets the rework treatment from esteemed US DJ Tedd Patterson and Berlin-based Chambray, alongside an edit from Sami Dee and Frankie’s own Mr Director’s ‘Feels Good’ Dub, which has never been released on vinyl until now.

The package opens with two brand new remixes. First up is Berlin-based Chambray who has previously delivered a range of dancefloor bombs and worked with the likes of Laurent Garnier and DJ Haus while establishing himself as a respected name in underground music. Here he delivers an energetic and contemporary House meets disco rework, bright and uplifting with piano stabs, electronic claps and brilliantly reworked vocals.

Next is esteemed US DJ/producer Tedd Patterson, who throughout his career has earned the title of House Music royalty and is regarded as one of the best-known house DJs in the world. He delivers a remix that retains the classic house feel; verging into disco territory with big strings and jazz influences whilst always maintaining the dancefloor focus.

The B-side focuses on the original mixes that Frankie and Eric produced in 2012 which still sound just as fresh today. Sami Dee serves up a brilliant edit of the Director’s Cut Mix while Frankie’s own Mr Director’s ‘Feels Good’ Dub takes the final slot, a cut which has never been released on vinyl until now.

Double header reissue heat from the Unidisc back catalogue! One of the most in demand titles from the cult Canadian labels repertoire - Punkin Machine's 'I Need You Tonight' was first heard in the clubs in 1981 and received anthemic status, finding new favour with DJ's in the early 2000's excavating the wide world of Disco (the track featured on DFA's legendary Fabric mix CD in 2007). Copies of this instantly recognisable disco bomb are very tough to come by and are now going for big money in the second hand market with 100's of wants, and for good reason! The track was later covered by Suzy Q, who's version entitled 'Tonight', is included here on the flip side in both the original vocal and dub / instrumental versions. Both tracks on this double header have been re mastered from the original tapes held in Unidisc's Montreal HQ for maximum sonic Discotheque playback! Essential and hot tracks for dancers and disc jocks alike!

Best known to most people for his early work as a Portishead collaborator and International tour DJ, Andy Smith earned his 'Legendary' title among crate diggers in 1998 when he released seminal mix album 'The Document'. In the years since, Andy has continued to live up to his reputation as one of the finest and most creative DJs on the planet, tirelessly digging in the crates and emerging with pure gold. Following in the footsteps of his 2006 exploration of Trojan's mighty reggae vaults and his two compilations exploring funk music from New Orleans and Jamaica, Andy turns his attention to disco and boogie for the very first time.The concept for 'Reach Up - Disco Wonderland' was born from 'Reach Up', a DJ collective founded by Andy in 2012 to reflect the spirit of legendary NYC clubs such as Paradise Garage and Studio 54. 'Reach Up' showcases 80s boogie, disco and proto house, the foundations upon which dance music culture was built.As you might expect, Andy Smith's selections for the album are not only delightfully obscure but highly memorable. Many titles will spark recognition, having been sampled for more contemporary hip hop and R&B tracks. Disco & Boogie this compilation may be, but it's been put together with a b-boy mentality. As Andy himself puts it At my 'Reach Up' and 'Boombox' nights a fair few of these will have been played, but interestingly some of these tracks might well get played at more 'hip hop orientated' nights i do too because of the disco breaks: tracks like T Connection' & Freedom. Containing a raft of undeniable dance-floor fillers and slept-on anthems, 'Reach Up - Disco Wonderland' also at times displays that indefinable, other-worldy, almost eerie sonic fingerprint that's been present in Andy's productions and DJ sets since day one. Above all, this album is testament to a youthful obsession with home taping. As Andy puts it: "just being able to officially put these tracks out that i used to play on my ghetto blaster in the streets is an amazing thing!"

Absolutely stellar proto-disco jam from 1975 on the minute Shield label, Nassau County's Hokis Pokis may not be the most well known of funk / soul outfits but that doesn't mean they groove any less than any of the big guns!

'Nowhere' is a true underground classic, one for the real disco aficionados. One of those grooves that straddles the thin lines between rock, soul and funk. This is a proper club record and in the right hands will keep a dancefloor locked in and moving.

Three years after their last collaboration “Lost in the Moment”, part of Darius’ debut album Utopia, the French producer and Nigerian born future soul artist Wayne Snow unveil their stellar single “Equilibrium”.

The message of unity has never felt more relevant than the times we are living through right now. This project composed one year ago, serves as a stark reminder that we can all transcend above our differences and connect through the experience of music together, regardless of colour and race.

2020 saw the Bogota based club launch their eponymous imprint with a far reaching compilation, dropping tracks from a host of artists that perfectly represent the Kaputt sound as they further cement their position as a beacon of the Colombian underground. Now they are back with ten new and exclusive cuts which transcends the club and explores the human impact on the planet, and how nature came back to reclaim their land.

Born in quarantine when nature sounded much louder than usual, VozTerra a local non-profit organization invited people to listen to nature in 'Sounds from your window'. People in Colombia and around the world took the opportunity of the isolation to listen and record ths sounds of nature. The material, together with soundscapes previously recorded in the Van der Hammen Reserve and in the La Conejera Wetland, in Bogotá, were given to DJs from the electronic music scene to create musical pieces which are now part of the 'Reserva/Voz Terra' compilation.

This 4th volume of M&M Mixes on BBE is without doubt the most ambitious yet, containing gems from Barry White, Diana Ross, Level 42, Teddy Pendergrass and Eddie Kendricks among others, all woven together with that special, intricate M&M magic. Gaining unprecedented access to original multitrack recordings from the vaults of Sony and Universal Records, John has once again upped the ante, going where no DJ has gone before. Accept no imitations, nobody does remixes quite like John Morales.

A — A true top-five peak record at The Garage, this Thelma Houston burner from 1977 was “a highlight whenever Larry played it,” Danny Krivit recalls... “and he played it a lot!” Danny’s edit is a homage to Larry and Frankie Knuckles – in particular, a reel to reel edit that Frankie did back in the day and shared with Krivit. “Reels were problematic, & when I tried to get it again from him, unfortunately he had lost it too.” The song (a clear attempt by Motown to capitalize on the previous year’s monster hit “Don’t Leave Me This Way”). What sets “I’m Here Again” apart though, is the incredible second half, not surprisingly also the main focus of Mr. K’s edit, along with a new straight to the point intro. Over a vicious groove reminiscent of the Originals’ “Down To Love Town” breakdown (Michael Sutton wrote and produced both “Love Town” and “I’m Here Again”) Houston delivers soul-stirring ad libs as the band crackles with electricity behind her, the piano chasing a descending string riff so eagerly it almost trips over itself. Pure dancefloor peak energy!

B — This band was a departure from the usual Motown session guys, and was comprised of a group called the Young Senators from Washington, DC. Who later formed the nucleus of Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers. Motown was finalizing its move from Detroit to Los Angeles, and this 1972 Eddie Kendricks session was among the last to be recorded at the famed “Snake Pit” aka Studio A in Detroit. According to Young Senators percussionist Jimi Dougans, “Girl” was recorded at three o’clock in the morning, which perhaps accounts for some of the heavy vibe and distinctly different sound than the typical Motown pop style the label was known for. In a time before 12-inch singles, this was one of those first "made for a club" proto-disco records that could hold its power and even shine on a big system. In fact, Larry Levan used it to test the sound at the Garage. When he got “Girl” sounding good, Danny says, “he knew the system was really pumping and anything else he played would sound good too.” The original album cut “was typical of a lot of records, where producers fade out right when the record is climaxing,” Danny says. “On a dance floor where people absolutely love the record... they’ll just look at the DJ like, ‘Why’d you fade it out?’” Taking matters into his own hands, Mr. K edit again aims at the climactic back half of the song, engineering a nearly 7-minute climatic dance floor filler.

Round three of JARC’s audacious, aural onslaught comes in the for of a double header of incendiary cuts, reworking that disco sound with hypnotic grooves and beefed up low ends, best served at full blast.

First up, you’re hit with ‘Move On Up’, looped, echoed and powered out into the cosmos. Earworm synth and sax hooks meet choice vocal snippets and a pumping beat.

Flip it over for a salacious number, ‘U Make Me Hot’ drenched in horns, guitar struts, and all too enticing vocals, tied together with a boisterous bassline that will rumble the very ground you stand on.

Following the highly supported Genes / Space Conductor 7”, Blair French sneaks in one more release before the forthcoming album, The Art Of Us (TAOU). This single holds two extended versions of peak hour songs. The A-side features “Faded By The Sun”, a cosmic afro beatdown driven by drums, with hints of boogie and frosted with guitar swells and stabs from Michael Jurczak, dripping with 3 AM Ron Hardy energy. The flip features “Celebration Ritual”, a deep Afro House vibe with a ray of jazz fusion. Drenched in marimba, hand drums, a tap dance solo from Stephanie Fica, and live bass from Peter Croce. Both tracks have been lighting up dance floors in dubplate form for the past year and are finally available as a limited 12” release. No fireworks, just a dust sleeve, cut loud to lacquer at 45 RPM, and pressed with pride at Archer on Detroit’s east side.

On side B we are treated to a killer downtempo drum machine laden boogie-rap jam, namely the stellar Larry Levan mix of Hanson & Davis' 'I'll Take You On' from '86. Some primetime Garage sounds right here. A deep soulful cut that kicks and slams in all the right places, and is of course, touched up the right way by Danny's deft editing. Eclipse, the third installment by Elements Of Life will be released on a four part vinyl series. Part one welcomes the all star cast and Elements Of Life Alumni Anané, Josh Milan, Lisa Fischer, and Cindy Mizelle.

The first track A1 is a remake of the Roy Ayers penned classic “You Came Into My Life” with amazing Lead Vocals by Anané. Originally a funky ballad by Roy Ayers, it takes you to a new groove on a more uptempo nu-disco vibe with the EOL band rhythm section. “Most Beautiful” with lead vocals by Grammy Award Winner Lisa Fischer and Anané combining forces with lyrics by Josh Milan. This is a song that really fits the times today with a powerful message.

“I’m A Woman, I’m A Queen” an anthem dedicated to all the powerful woman worldwide interpreted perfectly by Cindy Mizelle and Lisa Fischer. “Children Of The World” by Josh Milan which is always performed live by Elements Of Life at their shows, this special version with a latin jazz feel, on vinyl will take you back to the New York City street sounds of the 70s. “Live Your Life For Today” another Josh Milan penned track singing lyrics that we need to hear today in 2021, this is house music at its best. Taking the tempo down some and getting funky with the Jackson Five classic remake “I Wanna Be Where You Are” on a bossa nova tip, singing lead is Cindy Mizelle on this nine minute trip.

After a false start or two, Ess O Ess have finally joined the Kinfolk stable with a thunderous release featuring Laura Lee of Khruangbin fame.

Totem is the name and four versions is the game.

Starting off, the original mix is a wailing guitar-heavy psyche rock out that sees Laura Lee's vocals carrying it across a peyote-filled landscape.

In 2018, Sean Worsey, a successful lawyer in California, began to receive some rather surprising emails. These were not from prospective clients, or about current cases he was working on, but rather queries from record collectors. They wanted more details about a pair of obscure, largely forgotten records he’d made in the mid 1980s as part of a virtually unknown band called Passion Theatre. To say he was surprised is an understatement. “People from around the world were emailing, calling and messaging us about the music, particularly a track called ‘Vacation Day’,” he says. “Our records were rare and gaining in value, mainly because there were not many manufactured at the time. By 2019, several individuals in the music industry had emailed me about licensing tracks.”

We eventually agreed with Sean to include ‘Vacation Day’, on Charles Bals’ second compilation, Retour Au Club Meduse. Impressed with the quality of the compilation Sean approached us again to discuss whether we would be interested in reissuing both of his old EP’s in full, an idea he’d been considering for a few months already. We jumped at the idea of course and have spent the last few months putting the reissue project together. The original studio tapes were long gone but a friend of Sean’s had some mint vinyl copies which we had shipped over from California to use as the master source, restored and mastered superbly by Technology Works in London. The striking original artwork from the two EP’s has been faithfully reworked into a gatefold double vinyl LP by designer Asger Behncke Jacobsen and features extensive interview/sleeve notes by Matt Anniss.

In the words of Sean Worsey - “One of the nicest things about the renewed interest in our music is that we can now enjoy it for what it is – back then we were a bit too worried about succeeding.”

"Sweepin 'Off" is one of the most intriguing record of the entire Roman production of 1983. Moving away from the classic repetitive and pounding strand "Italo-Disco" and thanks to the vaguely pop-new and wave atmospheres made by Stefano Galante (BlackWay & Helene, aka BWH & Asso).

Between 1996 and 2000 (and in some cases beyond), Cologne project Whirlpool Productions produced a lot
of music, both as a group and as solo artists, at the legendary Can Studio in Weilerswist, a small town about
20 kilometres south of Cologne. Much of this music has been released, most notable the international
classic „From: Disco To:Disco“; but some of the music never saw the light of day. These two tracks I
produced myself at some point shortly after my first solo album „Lazer Muzik“ and I’m super glad to get a
chance to finally release them - because there is the important cause of helping to save the Paloma Bar, a
place where I played times and always loved it - an experience I dearly hope to repeat many times more.
And because I always liked those two tracks a lot, they just never found their proper platform, for whatever
reasons. As I think they are quite fitting to the sound of the Paloma, I’m more than happy to support this
unique place with this humble contribution. Written and produced by Hans Nieswandt around 20 years ago
