Justin Faust has quickly emerged at the vanguard of Europe's nu disco/electro house has taken over dance floors and DJ charts during the past half-decade. Based in Munich but integral member of Portugal's Discotexas label (with Moullinex, Xinobi, among others), the Faust has created an album that shows how Justin creates his musical vision - from very club-friendly classics like "Girl Talk" to Nu Disco and Pop excursions and even slow material -, this album is like a summer breeze of feel good vibes. The album also includes the hit single "Space Rhumba" and a completely new version of his classic tune "High Hopes" as well as a unique approach to his first Discotexas EP title track "Holdin On" renamed "Slowin On".
On "Na Sowas" he was able to work with guitar legend Mats Björklund, who recorded tons of records for the likes of Boney M. and Giorgio Moroder - a true disco legend! The first single of the album will be released on September 12 and is called "Spellbound" which sets the path with a pumpin' mix of Nu Disco and House. No matter where you play it, "Spellbound" will fill the dance floor.

A long awaited studio album of Saint-Petersburg based live-electronic music trio D-Pulse.
For the past few years D-Pulse has released their music on such established labels as Island, Tirk, Teardrop, Gomma, and Theomatic. Mostly known for their remixes, band decided to bring their debut studio album via their very own imprint - Vernal records.
The band's melancholic sound echoing from the numerous factories and forests of their homecity, Izhevsk, fused with exeptional production established D-Pulse as one of the most vivid and respected live acts on the contemporary Russian indie and electronic music scene.

Listen, David Guetta's incredible sixth studio album, set for worldwide release on November 24th, unites three years of production work with David's desire to produce records that strike a chord with his huge army of fans and equally, opens the hearts, ears and minds of others. The companion album to '24 Hours A Day - Ian Levine: The Disco Years' is this sterling collection of Ian
Levine's 1980s HI-NRG output - a scene in which Ian Levine was superbly qualified as he was the resident
DJ at London's No.1 Gay club, Heaven, throughout the 1980s, thus setting the musical agenda for the rest
of Europe throughout this period. Once again compiled by aficionado Simon White, 'Beating Faster - Ian
Levine: The Hi-NRG Years' once again collects the creme de la crème of Levine's HI-NRG releases between
1984-1990 including such in-demand and commercially difficult to find tracks like Miquel Brown's 'This Time
It's Real', Sadie Nine's 'Number One Lover', Seventh Avenue's 'Loves Gone Mad' and Norma Lewis's
'Surprise Me Tonight' among many other gems. As with the other volume, many of these tracks have been
generally unavailable on CD until now and certainly many of these mixes are making their CD debut for the
very first time too!
All tracks have been extensively re-mastered and sound the best that they've ever been. There is the usual

Starting some 30 plus sounds of the 70's years ago in Petersburg VA, on Virginia State College's campus, three young men started on a musical journey that followed the sounds of the '70's.

Rodney Dorsey, a native of Baltimore, Carroll Ellis, jr from Richmond Virginia, and South Boston Virginia born Ray Crawley

Beginning as a accapella gospel quintet, locally performing as "Essence". The three young teenagers began performing on campus talent shows, then started to venture off campus into the supper clubs around the area.

Not being content with just being a "regular" group the newly renamed "Ebony Diamond", started to write, arranged and produce their own original material.

First recording a single as background vocalists on a track entitled "For As Long As I Live" with their mentor, writer/producer Bernard Smith.

The guys along with a tight band began to perform the local club scene, but still always found time to record their own compositions in the studio.

Finally after nearly 40 year sitting in a box, this amazing mid-tempo monster, recorded at the famed alpha audio studios in Richmond Va, has made it to its rightful destination. On a 45RPM. We hope you enjoy it.

She Lies are a disco post-punk band from Berlin. They used to live together in an appartment sharing their musical ideas and Inspiration before starting to record their no wave inspired songs. 'Shame' is an apt title for a track so heavy with doom, the ominous weight of its layers merging with a wall of clattering percussion to a crescendo of almost unbearable intensity.

New Yorker Elliot Taub graces this 8th Kinfolk release with 3 trax of varying intesity. 'Do That Dance' is an uptempo melodic bass and synth heavy dancefloor jam. 'Thirteenth Roll in A Bakers Dozen' takes a slower spaced out route. '10 Dollars' conitnues in the same mode but this time with guitar and a super heavy synth line pushing the driving force along and finally Soft Rocks grab a hold of '10 Dollars' and turn it into a John Carpenter-esque electro groover.

Manchester artist Belly is back with his second EP of 2014 released through his new inprint Belly Dance and this time he is joined by East End Soul vocalist Shona Carmen & one half of Asphodells Tiimothy J Fairplay on the remix. The second EP see's Belly up the pace slightly from his inagural release moving slightly away of the slow beat of tracks like Dark Autumn and Farewell and embark on a sligtly more up tempo , swing style bordering on the style of Machine Drum. The first track 'Control' is a hazy club track with strong vocals from both Belly & Shona backed up by drum and bass beats which is followed by vocal heavy space beats in the form of 'Zu' . On the flip side we see the real inpact of Shona Carmen with a clubtrack loaded with summer vibes called 'Painting' . The vocals are soulfull and beautiful with a swing tempo and drum patterns that lift throughout. This is followed by Timothy J Fairplay bringing in his own take on 90's chicago garage music with a banging clubtrack remix of Dark Autumn off of Belly Dance 001.

Following their acclaimed debut album, Migration, on Prins Thomas' Internasjonal label in 2012, Jamie Paton and Nigel Hoyle (aka Nigel Of Bermondsey) have seemed relatively quiet save for the odd remix here and there. Tucked away deep in their South East London base though, a series of remixes and solo projects have been steadily forming. With new C&A material planned for 2014, plus more to come from Jamie's new solo efforts, as well as Nigel making a long overdue reappearance in Maurice & Charles, now seems the right time to draw a line under their collective work to date. This is followed by a late night dub of 80s pop duo Blancmange that mixes strings, guitar and some dub bass with a dose of space echo before bringing Neil Arthur's classicly recognisable refrain shining through. To finish is a remix of Goat's label mates Teeth Of The Sea. FX-soundtrack vocal, bubbling 303 and 808 combine on a proper 3am dub that builds beyond some mere drug-chug.

Following on from the Slow It Down & Elijah Collins release comes a new addition to the Retrospective family in the form of Elias Tzikas. Better known for his house music production, Elias has been a global name since 1996 with his numerous productions gaining support from the likes of Osunlade, MAW, Moodyman, Kevin Yost, Joe Claussell, Kerri Chandler & Dimitri From Paris to name a few.
The EP opens with Elias' Hunt Hurt Hearts which is already picking up heat after being dropped a number of clubs in various Retrospective artists sets blending all the boogie elements that have given Retrospective it's reputation plus a driving groove. Following is Still Around that gives a flavor Elias' deep house heritage with it's vocal sample floating on analogue riffs and a weighty bassline.

Roar Groove follows on from the exceptionally eagerly awaited inaugural Body Fusion EP, with the Bugles Of Truth EP that continues The Revenge's sterling association with quality productions.

The EP kicks off with 'Close Encounters Of The Casual'; a natural showcase from the master of ascetic, synthetic raw grooves. The combination of tight drum programming and looped harmonic vocals of 'Tight Circuit Feat. Jesse Rennix', gives an energizing coating across the whole EP. These are analogue-powered club jams, with The Revenge proudly at the helm.

'Cant get you out of my mind'...or at least not Graeme's unification of the bouncy analogue drums beneath 'Oot yer nut' and cherished up-tempo hi hat rhythms of 'MDMF' that sit above eager and somewhat muscular synth rides. Driving drums bring the party to a love song; feeding fizzy melodies through exhales of arpeggios.

Daniel Grau has recorded eight legendary LPs between 1974 and 1983; all of them never available outside of Venezuela though. Born 1948 in Caracas the thoroughbred musician first and foremost was one of the most sought-after studio engineers in his country. Almost any respectable artist in Venezuela (Vytas Brenner, Aldemaro Romero, Aditus, La Misma Gente etc.) was at least once in the El Palacio De La Musica-Studios taking advantage of Daniel Grau's mastery.
Just for the fun of it Grau asked some of the musicians who frequented the studio on a regular basis to use the free studio time to record some own songs and compositions under the name of - La Orquestra De Daniel Grau'. The fist two albums from 1974 and 1976, released under this moniker, already display perfectly what an adept composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass and keyboards) Grau was and still is. The influences and references, which characterize his entire, short and Venezuela-only career, are unmistakeable: North American Fusion Jazz, orchestral Bossa Nova and Latin American funk in the sense of Eumir Deodato and Sérgio Mendes.
Daniel Grau's variety of musical styles doesn't end here though. At the end of the 1970's he moved more and more towards disco music and incorporated what we today all call Cosmic Disco. And it's exactly this scene, which started to become a worldwide movement about ten years ago, which embraces now the forgotten work by Grau and numbers his eight albums among the 'holy grails' of this genre. Sonar Kollektiv member Class Brieler was aware of this when he visited Caracas in 2012 as part of the cultural exchange programme by the prestigious Goethe Institute. Together with befriended Venezuelan DJ Trujillo all the stops were pulled to make Daniel Grau's music accessible to a worldwide audience. In close dialogue with the by-now 66-years-old Daniel Grau the show case compilation at
hand was compiled. As a CD release it encompasses 27 of the best tracks out off Grau's archive. The vinyl edition confines itself over two LPs to the 15 tracks that are the most danceable. On both formats you find a new composition ('To Night'). More than thirty years after his last official release Daniel Grau returns with 'To Night' and looks ahead confidently.

So far in the Highlife series, we've touched on South America, the Caribbean and Turkey in our globetrotting excursions. Our next port of call is South Africa where H+P crew member, Esa serves up two outstanding acidic takes on music from his homeland.

Number 4 from World Unknown arrives just in time to close 2011 out on a high. The party is now officially a roadblock and the label has already won all kinds of high friends in high places.

'Slum Science' was formed in 2003 by UK producer Danny White who released the 'G's Delight' EP on Daz Saund's Resident Records London Label. Collaborations with Dan Ruck & Eddie Leader saw the slumsters have subsequent releases on Deep Future, Icon, Greenhouse, Jackin Tracks and Black Cherry gaining fans along the way from heads like Mark Fafina and Derrick Carter.

Now working solo DJ schedules, Slum Science make regular appearances in the USA, taking bookings as far and wide as New York, Detroit, Chicago, Las Vegas & LA. In 2005 Slum Science released their imprint label 'Hudd Traxx' which continues to receive massive support from the underground house community.

Slum Science release their debut album (10 Years of) Virtue & Vice in October through their own well established underground imprint Hudd Traxx. The 7 track album focuses on quality rather than quantity and a new direction that will focus on a live show incorporating a vocalist to tour the album along with some classics thrown in for good measure. (10 Years of) Virtue & Vice showcases Slum Science at their very best weaving underground house grooves with melodic deep keys, dirty drums, funky guitars and samples with soulful vocals. Patrizio Mattei & Danny Omich are back on Metropolitan Recordings with two smokin' tracks taking us back to the jumping 90's full of those fantastic 909 sounds. To say the arrival of the Swedish trio 'Monitor 66' onto the scene has been explosive would be a pretty big understatement. House of Disco Records is proud to have taken them under their proverbial wing for the labels first single release, the swede's ethereal anthem 'Triscuits'. This track made huge waves when first shown to the world gaining strong support from 'The Magician' and a whole host of others at the top of their game. The track itself floats somewhere between the dance floor and the cumulous clouds above, lulling you to sleep while at the same time invigorating you. Grounded by a vocal sample from an old Keith Sweat track 'Triscuits' glides on a bed of warm synths and vocal stabs that will haunt your memory and a breakdown that reminds you of the timeless nature of just plain old good music. House of Disco Records have recruited some serious talent to re-interpret and remix this one. Previous housemate Roberto Rodriguez, future housemate Dead Rose Music Company and just plain good mates PBR Steetgang.

Last year's acclaimed Sea Power & Change EP, a melancholic project from the mind of celebrated Portuguese powerhouse Tiago, is now revisited through the lens of three essential ESP Institute artists. Side A gives us a take on Strange Fruit by our heroes Soft Rocks — a smacked up dub/boogie rendition leaving the beautifully dark mood intact whilst twisting the the rhythms toward the tough side. On side B, Secret Circuit (Eddie Ruscha of Laughing Light of Plenty, and soon to release his solo release for ESP) stuffs Wild Combination in his saddle and takes us for a ride through a futuristic version of the Wild West with a funky bassline and distant whistles, only to be rounded out by a blissed-out epic re-rendering of Yesterday Is Gone by Somberero Galaxy's Jonny Nash. Its a family affair.

New German outsider house label TOY TONICS comes up with a superfat SLOW HOUSE 6 track EP from mighty producer DJ STEEF.
It's not Paris. This here comes from Marseille. A city that used to be big in Hip Hop - and now has a huge funky house scene. Many people there translated the boom of Hip Hop and Soul into fat, funky, slow house. DJ STEEF is one of the main guys. His releases on Magic Wand, Editorial, ZE, Superbreak and DiscoDat he has been played regularly by DJ's like James Murphy, Weatherall and Tim Sweeney.

This veteran Portuguese producer, head of Groovement Records, w/releases on 4lux & Clone, has become known for intricate, comprehensive soundscapes that engulf the listener and captivate the dance floor.

Double dose of jazz-funk heaven on this excellent vinyl reissue of Columbia's promo-only release of Maynard Ferguson's dancefloor masterpieces 'Pagliacci and 'Primal Scream'. In Side A's 'Pagliacci', jazz trumpeter Ferguson puts a genius twist on his unlikely operatic source material, creating a disco tour-de force that became a staple of the NYC club scene on its original release in '76, also igniting the UK's jazz-funk scene. A whirling maelstrom of insane percussion, Maynard's signature horns and one of the most awesome flute solos ever committed to vinyl, this is pure dancefloor mayhem. Over on Side B, we have the equally accomplished 'Primal Scream' - a slightly slower pace doesn't lessen the drama in this superb jazz-funk workout with tight drums and bass keeping the tension building while the brass soars above. Amazing stuff from a supreme artist. Don't miss!

It's a family affair as Grimy returns with heat from the windy city known for amazing dance edits. Tim McAllister takes it out the gate with "Rollin'", a classic soul/disco beater replete with joyous flute trills, Leslie speaker efx and a pumping house kick. In-demand newcomer Cratebug's "Get Up Move Your Body" is a spacious, cosmic edit of a little-remembered Canadian gem. The song ends with an intuitive synth jam that will be enjoyed by DJs and home listeners alike. Longtime Grimy associate Rahaan ends things with a bang. His largely original "Buari Traxx" mixes Ghanaian rhythms with killer disco bass and the nuanced, tracky drum programming you could find on a DanceMania record. The brilliant track is built for the floor and also serves as an apt transition into Grimy Trax, a sister label that will release all new music. Chicago's still burning.

This new release from the Balearica camp keeps up the pressure with another incredible selection of sun-drenched rarities. Getting things started is an awesome extended edit of Loredana Berte's 'In Alto Mare' - a Balearic disco gem previously only available on a hard to find Italian 7' from 1980. Then picking up the pace, we get the great deep piano groove of Soul II Soul's 'Happiness (dub)' which received heavy rotation both in Ibiza and beyond. Chicago house legends Ten City keep things bubbling with the superb 10 minute mix of 'One Kiss Will Make It Better' - a floorfilling, slo-mo house groover with great horn sections, topped off with a wonderful vocal performance from Byron Stingily at his best. Finishing off this great compilation is an extended edit of the fantastic sitar-driven groove of Slim's 'Arabian Disco' previously only available as a mega-rare French 7' from 1977. Don't miss out!

Foot and Mouth up the ante and release 'Young Edits - Move Me Up EP', the perfect balearic soundtrack for the ensuing summer hi-jinks. Australian protégé, Luke Foskey, delivers four inspiring top drawer balearic re-edits of some familiar and not so familiar household classics. 'How We Walk On The Moon' is already a firm favourite of the year for Tim Sweeney these edits will find favour with lover's of Pocket Knife and Cousin Cole's work.

Broken-back balearic beat biscuits for the mind noodled generation. Perfect for sunrises, sunsets or campfires, expect to hear these beauties all over the summer, accompanied by obligatory, ubiquitous Cheshire cat grins all round. "Fill yer moonboot's up mate, we've got poncho's in space, I'm telling ya!"

Superb double A-sided 12' from TEC Records, reissuing two of the rarest and most sought-after tracks ever released on the tiny US disco label. First up is super-funky Cosmic groover 'J'Ouvert', from John Gibbs with The Jam Band, As you'd expect from the title, this track has more than a nod to Carnival a with tropical feel and traditional steel drums but in a weird spaced-out disco arrangement that made this a favourite at David Mancuso's infamous Loft as well as on the afro-funky scene. On the flip, we have the mighty 'Freakin' Time' from MFSB and Salsoul Orchestra rhythm maestro Keith Benson. Originally split into Parts 1 and 2 and released on 2 sides of a 7' and 12', here the two tracks are seamlessly edited together for maximum long-playing dancefloor impact. With heavy hypnotic drums, sexy vocals, dirty grooving bass, this is a real must-have. Great chance to get your hands on two disco funk masterpieces!

DJ Mag Top 100 Poll returns in October 2014 with another outstanding line up. 2014 has been a fantastic year for dance music, with lots of fresh faces breaking through. Ministry of Sound and DJ Mag have proudly joined forces for the 3rd year running with a superb 2CD release including a selection of the Top 100 of 2014 across two CDs.

With the successful release of the 2013 edition, it is no surprise the largest dance music magazine has continued to collaborate with Ministry of Sound, the largest dance music label and internationally renowned club, to bring you an album packed with the world's biggest names and hottest club tracks - set for release on the 20th October.

While many labels take it easy during the summer, lounging by the pool and getting a tan, we're doubling down with the soundtrack to a heavy night bathed only in strobe lights. For our latest release, the aptly named 'Freaks'/'Yeah' EP we've recruited UK legend Richard Norris to lead our latest foray into the darkest and sweatiest corners of the weekend

Best known for his contributions to storied projects like Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve (with Erol Alkan) and the Grid (with Dave Ball), to say nothing of his cosmic disco project, The Time and Space Machine, Norris here is sailing alias-free for the very first time.

As efficient as they are simple, the aptly named 'Freaks' and 'Yeah' are to the point, post midnight analog jams, what Norris calls basement filth. Three superb remixes complete the EP: The Hardway Bros make their second appearance on TOB with a storming version of 'Freaks,' dragging the original into Belgian new beat territory. Boot & Tax's Brioski also reworks 'Yeah' into a shuddering polyrhythmic chugger. Rounding out the EP is one of our all time favorites, the one-and-only Ivan Smagghe, who turns in a mind-bending 8 minute version of 'Freaks' that trades much of Norris's signature filth for 60's-era organs and hair grease

New alias for Richard Gateaux (Aka Phoreski) dropping two essential jams for the Soft Rocks boys on their Kinfolk imprint. 'This Devil Can Dance' is a scary anthemic electronic dance monster from the left that will slay many a dance floor this year and has legend written all over it. Add to the mix the downtempo delight 'Lone Soldier Theme' that takes a different electronic route with it's echoes of 'Assault On Precinct 13' / 'Escape From New York' filmic vibe this makes for an essential package.

Having a debut that managed to possibly be the most regularly outed track by Andrew Weatherall as he dug deep to discover the sound that resonated as A Love From Outer Space, while at the same time seemingly slipping under the radar of practically everyone else and disappear in to relative cult obscurity is some mean feet. Unperturbed that the odd(disco)ball that was the acidic genius of Morodor In Milan was shamefully overlooked, Maurice & Charles have again taken time out from their daytime media and art enriched lives to hunker down and offer up another take on their twisted idea of what makes people groove. In Sofa Love, their ode to the marvels and pitfalls of the mega-city, bubbling 303 again underpins a twisted lyrical journey. Set against crashing percussion, this is their peaen to la Metropole. Ably supporting is a driving, rhythmic workout from our own Jamie Paton, taking the original and stripping everything back to jack like it should. If that frightens off the less adventurous, then I,Carpenter will perhaps offer a respite. An off-kilter, acid-funk nod to the experimentations of Eno & Byrne, this quirky gem makes you wonder, why did no-one use that sample before To end comes a solo debut from Soft Rock's Piers Harrison. His drum heavy remix straightens things up and lets the story unfold.

Dass Sam Smith eine große Karriere bevorstehen würde, ahnten Presse und Fans gleichermaßen spätestens nach seiner Debütsingle Money On My Mind - einem eingängigen Pop-Song, der in Sams Heimat UK erst zum Radiohit wurde und dann über Nacht von 0 auf Platz 1 der Charts schoss. Auch in Deutschland konnte Sam Smith diverse Erfolge verzeichnen, der Titel ging nur vier Wochen nach Bemusterung an den Funk in die Top 20 der Radiocharts, seine Konzerte in Berlin und Köln waren restlos ausverkauft und mussten in größere Hallen verlegt werden.

Was mit diesem Riesenerfolg startete, wurde mit sensationellen Rekorden weitergeführt: Die zweite Singleauskopplung Stay With Me schoss direkt an die #1 der UK-Charts, #2 in den USA und in Deutschland sicherte sich die Single einen Platz in den Top 20 der Charts. In den USA erreichte der Titel just sagenhaften Triple-Platin-Status, Kanada und Australien meldeten Doppel-Platin für Stay With Me, Neuseeland legte mit Platin-Status nach. VIARE is a 12" compilation featuring 4 distinct tracks, each occupying their own wildly unique sub-genre of the house experience. "Virgo Cluster" by Jonas Reinhardt fuses elements of cosmic disco and krautrock into a live transcendental package, with amazing guitar work by Phil Manley (Trans Am/Life Coach). "Seven Miles Down" from London's Timothy J. Fairplay (The Asphodells) is a testament to Zombie Horror Cinema, featuring a pulsing dub-house beat that dives into cavernous sonic territory. "Guave" by PLAzA is a playful dancefloor workout, that evokes a slow acidic line and classic Chicago house elements. Lastly, "Back Outside" from Roche is druggy outsider house at its best, with an enormous subby bassline that complements a classic alien warehouse vibe.

Maestro is Tigersushi's new gem discovery. Not exactly new actually since they already released a 12inch and a 7inch in 2012, but they now have finished a full length debut LP and are ready to make a lot of noise on a rather quiet French scene when it comes to indie electronic pop with healthy doses of industrial weirdness and dance patterns. They are not exactly french either if you look closely but an unusual French/Scottish duo composed of Mark Kerr (the beast) and Fred Soulard (the machinist). On the flip side, Krikor revives the industrial filthy groove of Maestro's heros Throbbing Gristle and Chris & Cosey. Dark and sexy.

Four discerning tracks from Stupid Human & Space:tricks channeling the east, west and central Africa. Zaire is a bonafide classic in the making and were told is NOT an edit. The making of this track called on vintage outboard and analogue mix down processes to get that out of the box sound, circa 78. Mr Human then visits Trinidad for a humorous off kilter meltdown of a track that references all the good stuff from the caribbean islands. Sounding like Terje and Fela locked in a studio with a cabal of crazy percussionists. Space:tricks delivers a mystical tabla and bongo inspired psychedelic hustle, that trips you out into a haze of opium smoke round India, he follows that up with an even trippier journey through some back street shisha dens in Istanbul - all in all a killer EP

After the acclaimed debut release earlier this year by Belfast wonderboy Maricopa, the second release on fledgling imprint Fools & Fables (rumoured to be loosely affiliated to the Sleazy Beats crew) welcomes Closed Paradise to the manifest.

The French producer offers up some of his finest work to date for FF02 with two lovely chilled out, balearo-beatdown cuts to ease you into the summer season.
'Jungle Goddess' on the A ventures down to the centre of the earth with its sub-100 BPM tempo. A constant and steady builder, Jungle Goddess weaves its way through deep, dark and seriously pitched-down house territory, being carried by off-kilter keys and seemingly random guitar notes throughout before a dreamy male vocal sparks up and takes things home.

Flip over for 'Get Your Bearings', where Closed Paradise brings things down with spaced out drums and soft pads amidst earthy tones that render the track next to perfect for those blissed-out sets that call for nothing more from an audience than sipping umbrella-boat drinks while watching an Adriatic sunset.

Following his 2013 releases for Hivern and Major Problems and remixes for The XX and Mano Le Tough, Dublin producer New Jackson steps into 2014 with a full flex EP for Germany's Permanent Vacation. The four-tracker moves from his signature vocoder-led house bump through spectral boogie, Detroit-leaning melancholia and upbuilding wrong'un dancefloor moves. This new track from Akabu features the soaring neo soul croons of Alex Mills (who you might recognize from Miguel Campbell's 'Something Special').

The Joey Negro Strip Mix is unashamedly feel-good with its bouncing, skewed and spraying synths and driving bassline, with pristine production putting many

The Akabu Warehouse Mix is built on chunky drums and classic claps before rave indebted synths swoop into the mix. Building the tension slowly, the whole thing comes alive with a bobbling bassline and the carefully chopped and spliced diva vocals of Miss Mills.

Almost 5 years after his previous album 'Horror Disco' (which was a concept album drawing connections between Italian '70s and '80s giallo and horror movies soundtracks and disco music) Bottin is back with a stunning new full length opus. Entitled 'Punica Fides' the album was made during sessions in Venice, Rome, Berlin and Ibiza.

Releasing on labels like Italians Do It better, Nang and Z records, Bottin has made a reputation for himself as a fine craftsmen who really knows his musical history and has a true passion for soundtracks. This new album, his third in a career that dates back more than a decade, was made using a ton of synthesisers, guitars, FX machines and with the help of some standout vocal collaborators.

According to the artist, 'Punica Fides is a Roman expression that means "treachery". The concept behind the album (made clear in the song titles) is manipulation, falsehood, seduction (and the will to be seduced knowing it's a lie), propaganda but also parody and satire. I think music (and especially dance music) is always also a parody. A dance track is a parody of itself and of other tracks that came before it. The album is not as soundtrack and nostalgic as Horror Disco was, I think this is a musically diverse album which ranges from synth-house, dark electronica, neo-new-wave dystopian landscapes, space disco and Italo disco. I suppose it's more of a dance record, which reflect the past 5-6 year touring the world as a DJ, as well as the will of creating my own musical bubble.'

The album opens in spiky fashion with the raw drums and serrated synths of 'Lies' coming over like a shimmering deep disco jam. Many styles are explored from there on in with 'Flow Of Persuasion' being a fast paced, melodically rich house cut that is stuff with analogue lines and oozes psychedelic charm.

Next up is the fantastic 'Poison' with Steve Strange (lead singer of Visage and co-founder of the Blitz Club which set the New Romantic template for the music and style of the 80s) which cuts a fine form with its squelchy synthesized basslines, pop leaning vocals and brightly coloured keys. Mid way through the album comes the frazzled synths and steel drum charm of 'Lust for Deception', a raucous and ravey disco cut of sheer pleasure.

'All For One' is another dazzling jam shot through with laser synths, arpeggiated lines and robotic vocals that sound like Kraftwerk on acid. Every new track seems even more fun and colourful that the last and the album as a whole leaves you feeling hugely energised, happy and very much alive. The closer is a reprise of 'Lies' with vocals from Lavinia Claws that comes straight from some intergalactic disco party it's so spangled and sugary.

Fans of Todd Terje, Pachanga Boys and all Bottin's previous work will no doubt fall madly in love with this beautifully crafted and sensuously shiny electronic album.
