New label 'Supafrico' kicks off with a fantastic sampler 12' EP that unearths four stunning funky Afro rarities from the vaults. First up is an awesome extended edit of Harari's classic 'Party', a floor-filling cosmic groover with killer vocals from 1980. Next up are the wonderful Lijadu Sisters with their beautiful duet harmonies. Featured here is 'Not Any Longer', one of the stand outs from their uber rare Nigerian only LP 'Horizon Unlimited'. Side B features the mega obscure 12' version of Eko Roosevelt's breathtaking Afro disco odyssey 'Kilimandjaro My Home' followed by Ezy & Isaac's 'Take Off', an incredible Afro funk work out taken from their impossible to find 1974 LP 'Soul Rock', one of the the holy grails of the Afro genre. With all tracks loving remastered, this is a must for anyone with a taste for those amazing Afro grooves - wonderful stuff.

A - Side: I Ain't Hiding (Heavy Disco Edit)

Ashley gets low down and dirty with the southern rock giants The Black Crowes. Their 'I Ain't Hiding ' track was a real marmite moment for their fans. Ashley (being a fan) turns the Stonesy disco rock track (think Miss You) inside out to create a psychedelic dancefloor wig out. Already a big fave with the Horse Meat Disco crew this has been one of Mr Beedle's most requested edits/reworks over the last couple of years and he has decided to let this one out the vaults. It's a monster.


B - Side: Smiling Faces (DarkStarr Edit )

Rare Earth formed in 1960 as "The Sunliners" and changed their name to "Rare Earth" in 1968. They were signed to Motown in 1969. The band was the first act signed to a new Motown imprint that would be dedicated to white rock acts. The record company did not have a name for the new label yet and the band jokingly suggested Motown call the label "Rare Earth." To the band's surprise, Motown decided to do just that.

Their 1973 album Ma, written and produced by the legendary Norman Whitfield, is considered one of their best overall works, and features their version of The Temptations classic "Smiling Faces". DarkStarr sprinkled their juju dust over this funky rock version to create something special. Originally aired as a dubplate for Ashley and Dj Cosmo's infamous Darkstarr nights this now has been given it's vinyl release. A tune for today's troubled times.

Witness the second coming of this mysterious Italian producer with Shocks II, totally abandoning the conventions of dance music with three more astonishing tracks comprised of heavily layered sounds, tape loops, loose percussion and meandering guitars. In his post-modern approach, Shocks orchestrates a melding of sounds musical and non, beautiful in their a-tonal harmony, obliterating any linkage to original context and leading us on a road to nowhere.

The History Clock is most certainly alive and ticking with this incredible release from Argentinian duo, DJs Pareja. You may be familiar with some early tracks that they've done for Matias Aguayo's peerless Comeme label (their excellent ghetto rhythms, 'Kenia' and 'Tribal Scream'), and this is a perfect follow-up. 'Psycho Rhythm', the appropriately-titled lead track is a brilliant, mid-tempo, mildly-disturbed 'outsider' house / EBM-shocker; coupled with the absolutely perfect Roska / UK Funky-esque, tropical rhythm of 'Pampa Room'. A track that joins the dots between the Bumbumbox parties of Buenos Aires; the Boiler Room nights in London and the boxes of the more forward-thinking DJs on Rinse FM. Having played host to the first two Daphni Edits 12's, Resista return with the label debut of one Tom Croose.

One half of NY duo Worst Friends, Tom's previous discographic output was a limited & stamped 7' that featured a killer edit of the Mac's "Never Going Back Again". For Resista No. 3 he delves into territories Brazilian, with "Cho Chua", a faultless rework of a certain Tropicalista, designed for discerning dancefloors, circa AD 2011. He loops up the swinging guitar intro, which combined with the vocal hook makes for a heady mix. It's an uplifting, joyous ode to all things tropical!

On the flip the 'Dukes Dub' is a subtler more restrained version that makes greater use of effects and surprisingly brings the songs percussive elements to the fore... Not quite as direct as its sibling on the a-side but definitely as effective!

Lovefingers and Nitedog return to their Blackdisco label for the 10th release! Straight up fun party jams for 4 different moments in the night. Lovefingers starts off side A with the pumping macho disco America (cut from a goofy Italian 45 and a Stallion's staple) and Nitedog's Anonstop project throws down the mid-tempo bassline bobber Martial Arts. On side B, Lovefingers drops a funky/junky Eastern guitar stomp on Slim Jim (another goofy 45, this time French), and Nitedog's Anonstop project closes out with a super funky warm burner Primates. All heat, no bullshit, and of course... no repress!

Pete Herbert & Dicky Trisco return with two more crowd pleasing and floor filling disco reworks for the Disco Deviance imprint.

Pulp Disco & The Outcasts - Overnight To Dusseldorf is the latest release on Ashley Beedle's Out Hear Audio imprint. Put together in it's original sublime whoozy electronic form it was passed to Mr. Beedle who then took up the space baton with his studio partner Darren Morris to create the Kommune mixes. Shocks is a project by northern Italian DJ/producer Wanmhope with his occasional partner-in-crime Max Dolphy. While fundamentally simple in approach, the dynamic maintains a deceivingly complex harmony and disharmony rendering a visceral, sometimes violent listening experience. Waves of feedback, distortion, frantic guitar noodling, vocal collage and field recordings soar like an ominous cloud over primitive, hedonistic rhythms. This, the first of two Shocks vinlys preceding the full-length, sets the tone, serving as your marinade before you're thrown to the lions.

Hot off the heels of their debut "We Hunt Buffalo Now", the Soft Rocks gang dishes out "Magic Milk", and utterly sleazy weekend dancefloor monster serving as the second single in the series surrounding their imminent debut album, "The Curse of Soft Rocks". Guest vocals are once again provided by San Francisco post-punk hero Jorge Socarras (vocalist of Indoor Life and songwriter for Patrick Cowley). Remix duties on side-b are provided this time by Washington DC's rising stars the Beautiful Swimmers. Their mid-tempo "Coconut Dub" takes the percussive nuances that are deep in the original and made them centerpiece, surrounding it all with loose House instrumentation that oddly achieves a tropical vibe.

Argentinean disco delinquent Toomy Disco comes correct with his first EP for Under the shade. Static Friction is a churning, plodding marauder, perfect for warming up the dancefloor. Mario Basanov picks up the pace flipping the track with plucky stabs and a tight beat whilst Alphabet City draws out the track into a loopy hypnotic belter. Finishing up with Disco Lights which wouldn't sound out of of place in Giorgio Moroder 80's film soundtrack.

Very welcome reissue of the original Sire Records release of Dinosaur's Kiss me Again from 1978. Written and produced by disco legends Arthur Russell and Nicky Siano and weighing in at a heavy 13 minutes long, this is a truly hypnotic disco odyssey which takes you on a curling and tension-filled journey through funky piano riffs, signature scratchy guitar work by Talking Heads supremo David Byrne, tumbling drums, stabbing horns and of course Mr Russell's swirling atmospheric cello solos. All this is held together by Myriam Valle's beautiful yearning vocal performance until the crazy mind-blowing orgasmic final minutes where David Byrne goes wild and the whole thing explodes in pure dancefloor meltdown. Choose from the A-side Jimmy Simpson mix or Dinosaur's own more stripped down, chaotic but equally compelling mix on the flip. Huge in New York especially at Nicky Siano's own Gallery nightclub, later championed by Frankie Knuckles in Chicago and more recently chosen by Twitch as the perfect record to end the very last Optimo Espacio, this is a true disco classic and absolutely essential in any discerning record collection

Pacifica kicks off proceedings with a bang thanks to 3 dynamite re-versions from Dominic 'DJD' Dawson. Dom's heritage stretches back across releases for some of the best dance music labels ever to have existed and with scores of original productions, collaborations and remixes under his belt the time has come for him to deftly drop 3 edits that show your average software bumbler how things are done.

Typical Nicholas beat on this one. A chilled house number filled with a beautiful vocal, cool rhythms playing off one another and a heavy beat. A real dance floor gem!

A2: Marcello Napoletano - Last Jazz
Old school drum sounds coupled with synth melodies give this track a throwback flavour. Very well executed, a brilliant track.

B1: Francis Inferno Orchestra - Fallen So Deeply
Heavier than the A side tracks, this track plays heavily on the percussive rhythms. Slow synth adds tension and the vocal really tops everything off. Classic!

B2: Simoncino - Guilty
Again heavy on the percussion, a deep bass line pops out alongside the delayed synths, backed with a slowly evolving synth which brings everything closer together. A deep, rolling house beauty!

Reissue of the original 1977 Island Records 12' release of guitar maestro Steve Winwood's grooviest Balearic rock moments. First up is the 2012 doomsday prophesier's anthem 'Time Is Running Out', a floor-friendly disco rock gem with great guitar work and vocals from Mr Winwood and a sweet rhythm section supplied by Jim Copaldi and legendary Ghanaian percussionist Rebop Kwaku-Baah. Flip over for 'Penultimate Zone', a wonderfully deep spaced-out cosmic groover that received heavy rotation on Italy's Cosmic scene and early Ibiza parties as well as finding favour with David Mancuso at his legendary NYC Loft. Quality stuff not to be missed.

First of 3 volumes taken from the incredibly rare Japan only CD release 'Inner Films '70' from 2009. The sketch is simple, modern disco artists take on seminal film scores from the 70's and give them a twist. First we have Norweigan disco wizard Prins Thomas's take on the theme from Rocky - 'Gonna Fly Now'. All live instrumentation... this'll rock your socks off. On the flip Japanese artist Foog (Mule Musiq) gives the 'Theme From Close Encounters Of The Third Kind' a new lick of paint, while fellow Japanese sonic adventurer Hideo Kobayashi (Apt. International / Bite Grooves) turns 'Rhapsody In Blue' into a tech-y workout.

HDR002 takes us straight to 90's house territory with four new edits from NYC's Marcos Cabral. The A-side opens with "Sym Phon", an anthemic filtered piano house jam that opens up wide and swallows all in it's path. A2 gives us "Better Think Again" with sticatto chords and twinkling keys in a Jersey-esque house sound. The B-side hits with "In The Sea", starting off with a giant slow tribal beat and then morphs into a psychedelically swirling synth workout. B2 wraps things up with "Get Get Get" turning our ears to old school Chicago house. Roland's TR-707 lays the percussion down while the chant of "Get in the groove" repeats into infinity.

Skilf lets loose with gritty lyrics and completes a strong combination. Skilf is a Brighton based Rap/Dance artist with a unique and distinctive sound. Unfazed by the restrictions of 'genre' over the years he has worked with a range of producers.

For the first release on Fat Free, Craig Bratley (Instruments of Rapture, Foto Recordings) delivers an edit of ' I Wanna Be With You'.
This is an classic slice of disco/electronic funk and two versions are included here, a straight up edit and a killer Dub version.

Fantastic reissue of two highly sought after early 80s disco boogie monsters from US soul singer Joe Coleman. Released here as a double A-side with the original Italian F1 Team label artwork, both of these 1982 cuts are pure dancefloor dynamite and change hands for silly money on the internet. 'Test Drive' is produced by US guitar maestro David Williams and features his signature uber-funky strumming style which combines with Joe Coleman's smooth lyrics to create a truly infectious bubbling disco classic. On side B we have the dazzling funk-boogie stomper 'Get It Off The Ground', a grindingly groovy cut topped off perfectly once again with Mr Coleman's strong and sexy vocals. Essential purchase and a bargain buy to get these two amazing tracks for the price of one 12'.

'We Hunt Buffalo Now' is a punky dub monster serving as the first single in a series surrounding their = imminent debut album, 'The Curse of Soft Rocks'. In an age where any laptop-savvy poseur can upload their bland nu-disco or faux-Chi-house directly to the cesspool of digitally downloadable fodder, it is more than refreshing to hear this cheeky bunch blending a mixed bag of instrumentation and obscure influences so recklessly. Guest vocals are provided by San Francisco post-punk hero Jorge Socarras (vocalist of Indoor Life and songwriter for Patrick Cowley). In case that wasn't enough, flip her over for the genius remix by Andrew Weatherall, a bonafide glam stomper that slaps you across the face with a fuzzy bassline and greaseball guitar chords. Futureboogie Recordings score a hat trick with the welcome invasion of Waifs & Strays - one of the years' breakthrough acts and further proof that graduates of Bristol's assorted music scene are bringing the big tunes. Systematically tearing up dancefloors this summer with a pair of bona-fide bombs on Leftroom, ('Yeah Yeah' and 'Heartbreak') the Bristol duo further crystallize their flawless reputation with a double hitter of sexy, stomping house cuts on hometown label Futureboogie. Effectively coalescing the essence of old school, with a warm and distinctly fresh attitude, Waifs & Strays are the sound of now.



A-side 'Be Patient' has a typically chunky groove with a bass-heavy hook, crisp drums and a snaky b-line that winds underneath the highlighted keys and warbling old school sample. With a twist into acid frequencies, 'Be Patient' has that feel-good factor mixed in with a healthy dose of freakiness.



On the flip 'Feel' has all the attributes of a funky summer groover driven by an irresistibly sleazy guitar riff and lit up with steel-drumming tropical touches and bouncing hi-hats. The female vocals echo and tumble over the dirty, techy groove and the eventual drop at the mid-way point will shake the dancefloor to its steamy core.
