February 23rd saw the release of Sidney Charles's retrospective full length 'House Lessons' album on AVOTRE. Here we get treated to a second single from the album, complete with a fresh new remix from the original house gangster, DJ Sneak.
German talent Sidney Charles has become an influential producer since emerging in 2011: his full fat, chunky house offerings have become staples in DJ sets and he has served up many modern dance floor classics along the way. Always touring the world and laying down engaging sets full of many house flavours, here we get another fine serving of his unique sound in the form of new single 'Psyjack.'

The track is a full blooded bit of jacking house with tough drums, icy hi-hat loops and rib rattling bass that thumps out a sweaty groove. Oversized and emphatic throughout, some tripped out melodic breakdowns offer intricate musical moments before the physical drums bang once more. It's first rate club music, make no mistake.

It's a perfect track to be re-worked by I'm A House Gangster label boss and all round Chicago house pioneer DJ Sneak. His version is pricklier, and hypnotically loopy. With vocal stabs and barreling kick drums, loose, DIY sounding percussion and shooting synth lines it's a raw and genetic bit of house music that cannot fail to make dance floors sweat.

Once again we are reminded that Sidney Charles is at the top of the modern house pile and that AVOTRE know exactly who to enlist to remix their releases to the greatest effect.

Fouk are finally back on Heist after their great 'Kill Frenzy' EP in 2014 and have taken Mount Liberation Unlimited along for a remix.

We've been waiting patiently for new material, challenging the guys to take the signature 'Fouk' sound to the next level. Fouk's brilliance has been obvious on recent work for their own label Outplay and Razor 'n Tape, as well as their respective solo projects. We've kept a close connection, teaming up whenever possible for Heist showcases, with highlights in Amsterdam's "Claire" and Paris' "Concrete". Seeing their work and enthusiasm made it abundantly clear that it would only be a matter of time before they'd show us what the next step would look -or better yet- sound like.

Anticipation ran high but boy, do Fouk deliver. The excellent 'With lasers' EP still very much portrays their own style of loose, live percussion and many layers of funk, but they've expanded their vision and even toughened up a bit.
Their new taste for grit and an interest in the heavier side of funk is probably most evident on the opener 'F3000', where a thunderous arpeggio is supported by distorted drums and lush cosmic synth stabs. Title track 'With lasers' is more of a classic Fouk track, combining a lovely walking disco bassline and their signature drum programming with... erm... lasers. Lots of them.

The B side 'See you on the other side' sets a different pace, carefully blending guitar licks, rhodesy chords and vocal chops into a lovely groove that feels just as carefree and improvised as it feels exciting. Swedish synth nerds "Mount Liberation Unlimited" ran with it and transformed it into a dreamy -Pepe Bradock goes balearic- track where airy echoed guitars take turns with some equally dreamy and evocative pads. A real nice closing to an EP smothered in funk.

Your Sincerely,

Maarten & Lars.

Ø (Phase)'s 2015 album 'Alone in Time' was the second LP in a remarkable line of releases on Token since 2007. Token65 is a retrospective tribute to the record, offering remixes of two of its tracks.

The utilitarian discord of R-Mash is remixed by James Ruskin & Karl O' Connor (Regis) under their recently-rekindled O/V/R collaboration. Their interpretation highlights the rattling percussion of the original and its juxtaposition with the tense and uneasy anti-harmony that emerges from its pulse.

On the other side, Ø (Phase) revisits the album's title piece. 'Alone in Time' originally appeared as a restless arrangement, driven by its fluttering melody and bolstered by a damp, staggering kick. In its reimagined form, the track is forged into a solid construction for the dancefloor, with its impatient theme re-appearing as a delirious climax.

sorgenkint is back !!! after his release on the acid test label he let the family dance with tanztabletten and he´s hunting bitches with 3 great techno / acid tracks. the 4th track is on b side: a awesome remix of queaver !!

Dark and trippy sounds on a label straight from Berlin... In The Dark Again brings out music between Acid, New Wave/ Minimal Wave and psychedelic Techno and Dub. Made for the very special moments on the floor.

* Brazilian legend DJ Patife return s to V Recordings in combination with the infamous SUNANDBASS festival to present a collection of some of the finest Brazilian producers in the scene today.

* Directly from the sun soaked beaches of his native Brazil, SUNANDBASS & V Recordings are proud to bring you DJ Patife Presents - Viva Brazil: SUNANDBASS Sessions.

* Patife has compiled new and exclusive music from some of the most exciting producers in Brazil including names such as L-Side, Alibi, Drumagick & DJ Chap along with new music from himself and guest appearances from top class talent such as Command Strange & MC Fats...

* This project is an important one. Its represents Patife's re-found love for the game that was re-ignited by a trip to the SUNANDBASS festival. In his own words, DJ Patife tells how and why he felt so inspired.

* 'From 2009 to 2013, I was away from the industry due to marriage, kids and other personal stuff, but also I'd stepped away from the scene because at that time I wasn't so happy about the music that was out there. A lot of things was changing and I it seemed like a natural time for me to take a break.
Then in 2014, I had my first SUNANDBASS experience, it was a game changer for me in so many ways! As a Drum & Bass lover, it was hard to believe that for a whole week an event took place in a paradise named San Teodoro in Sardinia (Italy). An event full of people who love this music from all around world, all alongside those legends who've been in this scene since the beginning'
As a person who loves to share, I thought about my boys in Brazil who have been following and supporting D&B all these years. I was trying to find a way for all of them, or at least a few of them to come to SUNANDBASS, and to see and feel what I was feeling'

A new chapter from Marco Bailey. Welcome to the new MATERIA world.

Marco Bailey's MATERIA has already put itself in techno map for good by growing rapidly to one of the most remarkable techno projects in our modern history through its monumental events all around the world. Being extremely ambitious obviously by getting the genes by its father and creator, Marco Bailey, MATERIA couldn't hold its demons of overly dominating techno in every possible way and is taking the next step of being also a record label so it can distribute the special vibe of its events to the home of every clubber in the world. Of course no one could write the first page of its new chapter better than Marco Bailey himself where he offers the awe-inspiring ''Return of Ryuu EP'' including also 2 wondrous remixes by the ingeniously talented producers, Edit Select & Conrad Van Orton. Welcome to the new MATERIA world.

For our next release we have called upon Sideways. Two artists who's relationship with Watergate dates back to the clubs beginning nearly twelve years ago. It was in the early 90's when Marcus Kaye and Lee Ching worked at two of the most influential record shops in the UK resulting in a mutual friendship born out of an eternal hunt for new and exciting music. Soon both were at the forefront of a progressive Drum and Bass movement under their Marcus Intalex and Dj Lee monikers performing on a global scale and contributing some of the most influential music of the genre but never actually collaborating. As Kaye broadened his horizons creating the Trevino alias to critical acclaim and Ching went the mundane route of 9 to 5 normality the duo's still weekly conversations about the nuances of modern house and techno turned into Sideways. Finally, after more than a decade, the two have joined forces to bring us the truly unique and exciting EP, Retraced". Although all the tracks on Retraced' are rooted heavily in a techno aesthetic, they all possess parts spanning across a wide range of genres from drum and bass to deep and soulful house. With the title track Retraced' the two take a euphoric journey laced with rich strings laid over a hefty bassline while Minor Difference' holds no punches and goes straight for the four to the floor approach ripe for the strobe lights on a crowded, dark dance floor. The final cut on the EP is PJ's Groove' and of all the three, it's the throwback. With crisp open hi hats, warm organ stabs and big washed out pads it feels like a trip down memory lane, yet with an updated, modern twist. After more than a decade in the making, we think it's the perfect collaboration for us at Watergate and, we think you will feel the same.

After the timely and well received reissue of 'Upekah' in 2013, son.sine is back with new material for the first time in 15 years on the Delsin label. A maven of slow release, organic dub techno, these new tracks prove son.sine still has plenty to say. Up first, 'A Candle' is a super deep and seductive track with big hits, bouncy drums and rich, rounded synth stabs that hypnotise and warm for nine great minutes. 'An Island' is then a more heady and atmospheric track with propulsive, lumpy percussion, vinyl crackle and textural static that sooths the brain and lowers you into a more reflective state of mind. Finally, 'A Room' is the most techno of the lot - with wobbly synths, clacking drums and lots of horizontal pads it rolls on and on, deeper and deeper as distant pads evolve from feeling rueful to the edge of unease. It's a masterclass in tension and long form dub music that proves son.sine should have never gone away in the first place.

With Bjoern Torske, Skateboard, Telephones and last not least the Sex Tags label all hailing from Bergen, the City ´s not been exactly short on world leading 'd.i.s.c.o' , but it´s Geir Hermansen aka Velferd that recently cought our ear with his keys. In 'The City that Drowned' it´s unlikely only ever so wet, there´s bliss, sun, warmth, heat - all painted bright with skyrocketing masterful synths over very neat and dry bass. great! Laid back and somehow dreamy the whole thing catches you by the ear and lingers on but then there´s so much dedicated kick and an almost extatic groove in each track - irresistable string hooks made in heaven! 'Never' and 'Through the Valley' add on to where the title song just left and this give the 3 track ep so much perfectly arranged strength... Bergen might well have given birth to another disco standard-bearer.

Techno operation "Falling Ethics'' extends it's solid catalog with a belter release by Amsterdam based produced ''Dimi Angelis''. Under A Glass Moon EP is a sturdy package of 3 dark and modular sounding Techno cuts. Label boss P.E.A.R.L. completes the package with an even deeper cut on the B1.

Mr G, Ben Sims, Steve Rachmad and Roman Poncet are on remix duty for this powerfull release of Dj Deep raw "Cuts"!

After the glowing success of Bouffmyhre's first album on Sleaze, we decided to put together a remix EP featuring new mixes of tracks selected from the album. On the A-side, Hans himself has produced a 2014 remake of Fortress, while PoleGroup's Oscar Mulero provides a classy remix of Bring It Back.

Flipping over we have Rebekah's version of Fourteen, which perfectly demonstrates her pounding, dungeon-like style. Italian producer Giorgio Gigli delivers a dark & droning remix of Dominator, to round off this excellent release.

* Merging two of the finest technical wizards this genre has to offer, we are pleased to present the long awaited joint release from Hybris & DLR, entitled 'A New Tomorrow EP'.

* Sharing a mutual respect and support for each other's music from the very start, the duo collaborates for the first time; in a demonic tech step title track, setting off the EP in fine style.

* One solo track apiece follows the collab, as the EP develops into a soundclash of technical prowess, with each artist unleashing their own original strains.

* A fusion of tremendous skill and two unique, well established sounds, we proudly welcome a joint release from two of our favourite producers of the decade so far.

the new release of the 10" vinyl series by cocoon !!! this time we have massive tracks by markus fix and sven tasnadi !!!

n 2012 Frost and Einzelkind joined forces to release the Pressure.
No tricks, no gimmicks. Just raw beats and basslines from the depths of Frankfurt and Offenbach. No bandwagon blues, no sounds-alike songs.Pressure Traxx does exactly what it says on the tin.More Pressure, more Traxx. Now it is time to announce the 10th release featuring tracks of the label heads Frost & Einzelkind

Minimood welcomes Copenhagen based master duo MERV for two tantalising new tracks, and thus continues the reductionist dub techno stance the label has been advocating lately. After 2 decades of silence, this new EP marks MERV's first new material and suggests that they have lost none of their magic touch. BLANK I is nine minutes of expert and exquisite dub techno. The kicks ping with an infectious thump, the dub chords are fantastically crisp and well crafted as they float in space and swallow up the drums. Widescreen and edgeless, warm dubby techno. BLANK II is a equally stripped-back and elegant dub techno affair as BLANK I, yet with a more upright and direct twist. Slapping hits and lively chords are riding above the rolling, loopy drums. A ride that will guide through the deepest nights. Vinyl Only!

rchestrating their return to Kompakt with the much-acclaimed new full-length MOONBUILDING 2703 AD (KOMPAKT 330 CD 124), iconic pioneers of electronic music THE ORB found fresh momentum in an enticing melange of psychedelic loops, deep textures and striving beats. The album saw the duo at the peak of its creativity, indulging in that distinct style of warped miniature epics they've perfected, ever oscillating between ruminant sampling and propulsive jamming. With MOONBUILDING 2703 AD REMIXES / SIN IN SPACE PT.1, we present three reworks willing to tackle the sonic thicket of the source material - and succesfully translating The Orb's unique brand of musical insanity into their own resourceful idioms.

WOLFGANG VOIGT's aptly named ANTIRETROAMBIENTPSYCHOLKAMIX is the first of two revamps from the Kompakt founder and veteran 4/4 anarchist - starting off innocuous enough with some gently colored ambient trickling, it then suddenly sidesteps into lush pop techno minimalism at its very best. Voigt's second take is a particularly bouncy one, rightfully billed as WASSERMANN PSYCHOSCHAFFELCLUSTERMIX and marking the renewed interest in his concept rave alter ego in the wake of leftfield banger EISEN MEIN HERZ on TOTAL 15 (KOMPAKT 340 CD 125). The trio of remixes gets rounded out by LA-based producer TEEBS - nurtured by Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder imprint, he has built his reputation on rich edit-style beat tapestry, brought to full fruition in his ingenious MOON GROTTO MIX.

Snakes are Poor Denizens of Hell
Have come surreptitioning
Through the tall grass
To face the pool of clear frogs

Following on the heels of releases on labels as Etruria, Cocoon and Elevate, italian-based DAST makes his debut on OFF Recordings.

The EP kicks off with 'Raid Zone', a classic and timeless piece of spacy bigroom chord techno.

'System Failure' with its unsettling lead takes things more towards the latenight realm.

And Juan Sanchez delivers an even more stomping and peaktime interpretation of 'Raid Zone', perfect to 'destroy' festival dancefloors.
