With three contrasting cuts, Creta Kano's Skyway Motel EP, released earlier this year seemed ripe for remixing. Thus, the idea of Creta Kano Versions was born. Label bosses the Kelly Twins looked close to home for inspiration, handing over the parts to a trio of Bristol acts, each renowned for carving out their own niche in the increasingly homogenized world of electronic music.

The A-side is handled by Hotline Recordings and Black Acre affiliate Lurka, utilizing a handful of elements of Creta Kano's original and twisting them around his own punchy rhythms.The B-side is Bruce, whose distinctive, next-level take on techno has set tongues wagging following releases on Hessle Audio and Livity Sound offshoot Dnuos Ytivil. Here, he delivers a "Hi-FI" mix of "False Water" that emphasizes the deeper and more fluid aspects of the original.

The EP is completed by a typically atmospheric interpretation of "Skyway 81" from Young Echo members Amos Childs (Killing Sound, Jabu) and Neek under their O$VMV$M guise. Given the quality of their recent self-titled album on Idle Hands -- they were the perfect fit to rework Creta Kano's chopped, skewed and pitched-down version of "Skyway Motel".

What they deliver are pieces of straightforward punk plunged into disco depths, kraut derailment and swirling drum machine melancholia. If you are looking for retro-future dystopias with no space for healthy minded horizons, this is the thing for you. Delusion Men walked together since the inception of Future Nuggets, although for them the time will never come, we snatched their debut EP. It feels as if through them " the Old Ones" are channeling the last messages of hopelessness for dance floors and dining rooms."

Human Rays - Stockholm, Sweden producer Robin Smeds Mattila—says that the music on A Tension was made during nocturnal sessions in a studio full of mostly cheap analog and digital gear, all in one take. "I kind of let the mood guide me and just go with it," he says. The result is a gripping fourtrack´suite of emotionally charged minimal ambient that was created quickly but sounds like it was rigorously sweated over for many weeks. After a handful of releases that explored noisy, quasiindustrial techno, Mattila here deviates into a more abstract, melancholy mode with A Tension. His creative process involves experimenting "to see how far I can push a sound with a pretty lofi setup. Improvisation and limitations are part of the thing that makes it interesting." This approach yields riveting dividends right from the start on A Tension. On "Condensity," the sparse pinging and distant, muted beats commingle with what sounds like rough wind or waves, hinting at the Arctic vibes that Biosphere conjured on Substrata. It's at once chill and chilling, tranquil and unsettling. "Between The Hours" places spindly, woody beats beneath a dramatic sweep of synthetic strings, ebbing and flowing like Fripp & Eno's monumental "An Index Of Metals." "Neverendless" might be even more redolent of the North Pole than "Condensity," its severely minimal isolationist ambience suggesting Mick Harris' nonemorecold Lull or Thomas Köner's Permafrost. On "Manual Litany I," Mattila takes what sounds like a sentimental synth melody and smears it into a mantra of compelling drudgery. He notes that the track draws inspiration from William Basinski, who's famous for his series of profoundly poignant Disintegration Loops albums.

The music contained within is a delightfully diverse collection that I hope you will find pleasing to your ears. Much like a bowl of goulash, not all the ingredients may be to your liking. It is undeniably more rustic roadside tavern than refined dining but as you have already purchased this release (downloads do not come with liner notes!), I guess you already trust me behind the pots and pans.
I have been spoilt for choice by the many fine ingredients available to me and have become somewhat blinded in compiling the final tracklist. However, the end result has now been tested on my nearest and dearest to approval. And with that I present to you, my own special "Paradise Goulash".

Manchester-based duo Shield Patterns return on September 2nd with a new album entitled Mirror Breathing. Released on band member Richard Knox's own Gizeh Records label, Mirror Breathing follows on from the critically acclaimed debut album Contour Lines in 2014 and 2015's Violet EP.
Where it's predecessors took a more stark, electronic and processed approach, Mirror Breathing is an altogether warmer, more cinematic record. The cello of guest collaborator Julia Kent (Antony & the Johnsons / The Leaf Label) introduces a new element and a new energy to the sound, pulling the songs into a more symphonic form. The electronics, drones and field recordings are intricately and painstakingly arranged by the duo, meandering between haunting vocal passages, clarinet swells and delicate synth phrases. The album ebbs and flows through hypnotic beats (Dusk, Blue Shutters, Glow), ethereal and tender piano-led songs (Bruises, Anymore) to more aggressive, heavily experimental, free-jazz elements (Balance & Scatter).
Continuing the fiercely DIY ethos adopted by both band and label, Mirror Breathing has been written, recorded and produced in its entirety by Claire Brentnall and Knox in their home studio in the Peak District. The record is both personal and universal, an exploration in sound and songwriting. The music Shield Patterns are making is difficult to place into genres or pigeon-holes. Experimental sounds are married to striking, inventive melodies throughout, it's contemporary pop music of sorts with a richly detailed cosmic edge.
Some words from Claire about the album:
"The album for me is about feeling connected, exploring what it means to be a friend, to be in love, to be an individual, to be part of a collective unconscious. It's about the beauty of imperfection, of making mistakes, and the discoveries that are made by chance as we learn to exist."

Released first week of July is a long anticipated collection of long sold out 45s on the tiny North London minimal synth imprint, Polytechnic Youth.

The label began it's life in 2014 when an old friend went to Germany and bought a cutting lathe, enabling us to release hand cut 45s in micro editions of varying quantities. First fruits were an EP of DIY / experimental electronics from Volume Groop, dressed in a poster sleeve with obi (and now a £100 45!)

From there, a dizzying array of collectors' dream releases flowed, clear 5' singles, 8' singles, 45s that played from the inside label out and releases that came with personalized 'glow in the dark' centre adapters, to name a few. All sought after now.

The LP features a selection of tracks from these releases, which, while allowing newcomers to the label a more affordable foot in the door, also gels and works well as a free flowing full length in it's own right.

The label has a deep love for both the look and sound of key period '78 to '83 minimal synth, experimental and primitive, DIY electronic music. Often released as private press style vinyl or low key cassette only releases. If forced to throw names at you as reference points, think Fad Gadget, early Cabs, early Mute, John Bender, Neural Circus and Transparent Illusion etc- all key releases at PY HQ....

Previous releases have included the likes of Listening Center (Ghost Box and Deep Distance), Colin Potter (NWW), Justin Wright (Expo 70) and have been given assuring thumbs up from the likes of Tim Gane, Sonic Boom and Pye Corner Audio's Martin Jenkins.

The LP concentrates on some of the debut 45s by lesser known artists however, these all reaching collectors' prices online since release.

The label openly encourages something of a co-operative nature whereby artists or fans of the releases are asked to submit and even create hand made sleeve art, or film clips, inserts and stickers. Trouble in Minds' Bill Roe designed the label's logo (soon to adorn a label T shirt for it's 27th release').

A previous release caught the eye of Stewart at Emotional Response records in the US and he is releasing the album there on CD quickly following the LP.

As ever the LP is dressed beautifully, with printed inside and out artwork on reverse board sleeves. A wonderful record released as a pressing of 300 copies.

Flip-side 'Changed My Way' demonstrates two aspects of Flava D's sound - emotive keys tug at the heartstrings, before the track drops into the kind of sawing-basslined four-to-the-floor monster that will destroy dancefloors wherever it is played.

An original electronic disciple hailing from New York, Sandwell District's David Sumner a.k.a Function presents his debut album 'Incubation' on Ostgut Ton. Like the soundtrack to a suspenseful Techno-thriller, or retro-futurist Sci-Fi tale, it's a modern sound journey heavy on imagery. Over nine tracks we are guided through the varying moods and scenes of Function's musical temperament. Be it through writhing layered club tracks, soaring string-led atmospheres, or melodic pieces founded on classic electronic traditions, 'Incubation' marks a new level of maturity for the Berlin-based producer. What begins as a lush and blossoming lesson in ambient synth arrangements, with the beautiful arpeggios and waveforms of 'Voiceprint', quickly drops off the apex and into the depths of Function's filtering acid world as 'Against The Wall' unfolds. This metallic, acidic concept is explored further too, in the final moments of the album with the chilling 'Psychic Warfare'. A spiraling, organic surge of warm synth tones and other-worldly arpeggios unravels itself in 'Counterpoint', acting as an early bridge between some of the drum-led studies that follow. And thus, the pressure increases. 'Modifier' presents itself with tight, snaking drum patterns and tense, late 90s kinetic warehouse energy. Opening a path into an alternate, yet not too distant dimension then, 'Incubation (Ritual)' takes form; it's haunting and graceful waves of synths continue the Sci-Fi theme, while the tough modulating bass undercurrent reminds us of Function's big-room Techno appeal. The final moments of 'Incubation (Ritual)' glide effortlessly into the album version of 'Inter', where ethereal melodies and snippets of spoken word surround a classic IDM-Deep-House core. 'Voiceprint' returns as a (Reprise) version, in what could become the crossover club track of the year. Coming on like a classic R&S or Soma release circa '95, the undulating synths are now caught in a rapturous groove, urged on by a perfect 909 drum pattern and forward pushing, precise arrangement. Taking the minimalistic, hypnotising mantra of previous Function 12''s like 'Isolation' or 'Burn' to another level, 'Psychic Warfare' brings the voyage to a a close, it's overlapping, ebbing metallic acid tones inducing equal measures of tension and elation. In the CD version of the album, 'Gradient I' concludes the voyage. Earthy, modulating bass and 808 patterns merge as a cyclic, audio resolution occurs. With a final, intense atmospheric wash we find ourselves re-born, out in the ether, having witnessed an event of great weight and substance. In the final mixing stages of the album Function brought the material to cult engineer and producer Tobias Freund (NSI). Since 1980, working with the legendary Frank Farian, Freund's skills helped bring acts like the controversial Grammy award-winning Milli Vanilli to fame, and he would pioneer early European Techno and Electronica through his Sieg Über Die Sonne project (with Dandy Jack). Function chose Tobias to do his work justice, and add his years of mix experience to this ambitious, succinct and artistic album. Bound in mysticism, forged through experience, 'Incubation' is a bold and powerful album from one of modern Techno's key players. Inclined to hold back, rather than release too much, Function has let his sound develop and mature, fusing analog synths and drums with modern production techniques to create something unique and timeless.

You might have heard of Happa by now. He's the Leeds native who first burst onto the electronic scene in 2013 with his blistering 12'single 'Beat of the Drum/ Bring It Back', the wildly precocious teenager (also known as Samir Alikhanizadeh) who won instant fans in the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Loefah and even Four Tet, the one who scorched a trail with his dark, bass-heavy sledgehammer house, which sounds quite unlike anything else out there right now.

Starting with the urgent, unnerving undertow of 'Chewy Teeth', it becomes abundantly clear that the last three years have seen a qualitative axis shift for Happa; his aptitude at marrying pounding beats with dark, ominous landscapes has been sharpened to a knife edge, his way around a foreboding bass has become laserlike. 'Ascension' takes things even further, with surging beats and rattling vocal declamations threatening to send the entire track skittering out of control. Closer 'Crickets' with its throbbing, subterranean pulse slowly opens out into a refracted strain of house at its most urgent and unnerving. 'Part 1' is the sound of a young artist refining his sound, with an unerring instinct for the jugular, and many more surprises up his sleeve. You'll be waiting on tenterhooks for the next installment.

Eschewing the routine trappings of "tunes" and "melodies" in favour of drone and a strong cinematic sensibility, Jazzfinger bring to you their own unique brand of visual and aural exorcism. They start noisily. They incessantly build layers of white noise onto of layers of unwieldy dissonance. They recreate an auditory Armageddon with amps. They end noisily. They also unleashed 600 live crickets onto the audience at a gig once.

They have dozens and dozens of LPs, tapes, CDRs and lathe cuts out on a multitude of DIY labels, and they've finally released a 100-only double-A side - Beachy Head / Moroccan Car Park (D. Harwood remix) on the Distraction label. Ladies and gentlemen: Jazzfinger.

Critical Music boss man Kasra spends most of his days A&R'ing one of electronic music's most revered record labels whilst playing drum & bass records in clubs across the world most weekends. Kicking off with a mysterious, immersive space-themed introduction, 'Pale Blue Dot' transports the rave into the far reaches of the universe. * Xenophobia is Sid Truelove (DJ Terminator) and Zillah Minx (The Acid Queen), founding mainstays of the groundbreaking Anarcho Punk group Rubella Ballet, augmented by the singular talents of Bert Fuzz (MC Skallywag from Spiral Tribe). They were among the first to turn on and tune into the early nineties' rave scene, Sid's interest growing out of his long-standing fascination with acid house and its associated pirate radio underground network.
* Already established as an innovative compositional talent thanks to his work with Rubella Ballet, Sid resolved to extend his exploration of the new sonic horizons of the times by investing every penny he had into the era's key electronic equipment; an Atari computer running Cubase a program for sequencing, and a Yamaha SY77 digital workstation and a four-track Tascam Portastudio for recording vocals. Armed with this new technology, Sid set about creating his own style of Rave music with the sweetly mesmeric sound of Zillah's angelic vocals, enhanced by Skallywag's unique MC-ing, which imparted the new songs with a tangible sense
of being at an actual rave.
* 'Hypo Psycho' was Xenophobia's first release with a 4 track 12' EP being issued in late 1991 on Xeno Recordings (XENO1T) Track 3 from the Hypo Psycho EP, 'Encounter' was also included on the Theory Records Beyond the Threshold compilation in late 1991 (TR101LP) Into Combat was Xenophobia's second vinyl offering, a 4 track 12' EP issued in early 1992 on XENO Recordings (XENO23T) Xenophobia made numerous special guest PA's with Spiral Tribe at illegal underground events in London and further afield around the M25, moving as fast as the scene itself to stay one step ahead of the Old Bill's pernicious attentions. The most famous of these was at Castlemorton in Worcestershire where 65,000 ravers congregated by word of mouth alone to spontaneously combust into the biggest guerilla party in Europe.

* At the time of the event, Spiral Tribe were tapping into the zeitgeist's mainline, their recently released eponymous debut EP 'Breach of the Peace' featured Xenophobia's monster track 'Doet' that included the compelling lyric 'Rush your f**kin' bollocks off'.
Xenophobia's next release was set to be 'The Wobbler' on Kickin Records. However, the label had other ideas; pulling the single and subsequently installing the track as a B-side to 'Rushing the House' in May 1992. The lead track again captured the context of the era, being capped by the line 'Ecstasy, it really gets me going / Gets me so I don't know what I'm doin''. 'Rushing the House' stormed straight in at Number 20 in the National Dance chart, Released at the height of the pirate radio days it was getting played on every station, seven days a week.

* Telstar snapped up 'Rushing the House' and released it on Rave Generator a CD compilation that also featured the Prodigy, Acen, Altern 8, Messiah, Utah Saints and many more. Sid recalls a phone call from Skallywag with directions to Castlemorten a free rave initiated by Spiral Tribe. The event provided him with the perfect opportunity to hand out a shed load of white labels to DJs at all the rigs. He remembers being with Zillah Minx and Scallywag, walking into one of the biggest tents whereupon the DJ spotted them and immediately killed the tune he was playing and slammed on a white label of 'Rushing the House'- The place exploded - everyone knew the words, as by now as it was on constant rotation across the pirate radio underground.

* Its pivotal lyric, 'Go to the flow with an E rush me, oo rush me, ee rush me' was on the lips of nearly every raver on the scene and is still as infectious today as it was 23 years ago. Big shout out to Spiral Tribe, Bedlam and many more underground systems, coz the music scene in the UK would not be the same without the sacrifices some of you made for the cause. The introduction of the Criminal Justice Bill made Castlemorten the last quality free rave of the year and put an end to Raves' as we knew them. 1992 was the summer we will all remember as when the Government put a stop to everyone enjoying them self by enforcing draconian laws on innocent party goers.

* Mid 1992 saw Xenophobia perform as headline act at 'Rave World', sending the packed, 5000 capacity, venue into a frenzy with their smash hit 'Rush in the House' and 'The Wobbler'. Rare footage from the night has been edited together for the first time in 20 years and is now available to watch on You Tube.

Hidden Turn first came to the attention of Doc Scott & 31 Recordings with the track 'Big Dirty'. Scott had been playing it on his Future Beats radio show and contacted him about releasing it on his 31 label. That first release made quite a splash across the dnb world and beyond and was described by the label as 'kinda dnb, kinda not, but we like it'.

Hidden Turn returns in 2016 with his and the labels, debut artist album 'The Ride'.

Mculo's latest asks you to do a double take. In the second release for his homegrown Roots by the Oder imprint, I Caught a Glance, a first listen to the EP's A-side introduces a dancefloor-centric house number punctuated by the loop of a somehow
ceremonious melodic riff.

'Bury Dem' marries a lurching 140-ish dub-hop riddim to a buzzing analog bassline, 8-bit skanks, haunting melodica - pure propulsive nod-factor dubwise, a molasses-soaked, ganja-infused confection that sounds like Lee Perry busting out some chopped & screwed. With Ghost Stations, Marconi Union's music continues to straddle the world's of artistic credibility and musical accessibility. They were not afraid to accept the challenge of making new music rather than just repeating their earlier work and were well aware of the risk of trying new things.
After fourteen years of writing and performing, the trio - founder members Richard Talbot and Jamie Crossley with keyboard player Duncan Meadows - are thought to be amongst today's most talented musicians' The Sunday Times. They have continually steadily refined and developed a unique musical identity, gracefully blending together elements of dub, jazz, ambience and electronica within their richly melodic compositions, evoking emotions that set them apart from their peers.
Before making a record Marconi Union usually have a clear idea about its ultimate direction. But this time, they decided to set aside any preconceptions, they spent the last two years experimenting with playing, programming, editing, re-editing, (agreeing and disagreeing) until Ghost Stations naturally evolved. Hazel is the 5th record from this group of eclectic travelers, who bring their considerable pedigrees together in unexpected and original ways. Looking at the people involved, it would be reasonable to expect a massive blowout of sound, but everyone plays with remarkable and effective restraint. The music is atmospheric and layered, with bits and pieces of identifiable rock moves peeking out from under a thick blanket of hard-to-identify drift.

Based on live recordings made on a lengthy tour of Italy in 2010, the recordings have been extensively edited and supplemented, but without losing the elemental sound of a group playing live together. While there's plenty of weird ambient sound to be heard, this isn't a sound-effects/'pedalboard' record. Like the preceding 'En Form for Bla' album, Noble's drums anchor the music. The drumming is spare and considered, sometimes lashing out with abstract punctuation, and other times laying out a Can-like groove. O'Malley's guitar is also restrained, providing a bed for O'Sullivan's constantly morphing Rhodes, synths and electronic effects. Kristoffer Rygg contributes a rousing vocal incantation to 'Ermanna' and peppers the mix with ghostly modular details. Like their other records, this is not really like anything else out there right now. Sleeve designed by Stephen O'Malley.

Tri Angle announce the release of 'DAZE', the new album by London- based producer Brood Ma.
His debut on Tri Angle, 'DAZE' is actually the third in a series of wildly ambitious and confounding albums Brood Ma has put his name to in the last few years, generating a good deal of intrigue and acclaim along the way. His first release, 'FISSION', turned heads with its juddering, noisy take on EBM, while the follow up, 'Populous' (reissued in 2014 by pioneering dubstep label Hemlock), signalled for many the arrival of a genuinely unique and intriguing talent, bolstered also by his affiliations with the endlessly fascinating and undeniably forward thinking Quantum Natives collective.
By stripping back on some of the beat-suffocating-distortion that partially defined some of his earlier work and zeroing in on some of the more delirious and disorientating side effects of trance and hardcore styles, Brood Ma has made his most radically club- orientated release to date.
'DAZE' is a direct by-product of Brood Ma's ongoing interest in dissecting how (and why) we build virtual worlds and an obsession with the kinds of high-definition sound design techniques most often used in trailers for Hollywood blockbusters and video games. These are the sounds - most often of death and destruction - stripped of their grisly truths and moulded into plastic or mechanical shapes in order to sell us something.
In Brood Ma's own words, 'DAZE' is a documentary of the military engagements played out amongst adults and children across worldwide server space and an attempted critique of the current obsession with survival playtime, played out through politically prosed pop references and narratives of fictional, future juvenilia.'

'Preparations' is the first record to be released on Tri Angle by Fis. Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Fis has steadily been building a name for himself on the underground as a producer to keep an eye on.

Having already put out a number of very limited edition and very well received releases through a handful of drum & bass oriented labels, 'Preparations' finds Fis at a point in his musicmaking career where he's ready to be introduced to a wider audience and confirm why websites like Resident Advisor have said things like: 'A producer that has suddenly appeared, rather fully-formed, doing something completely individual, sounding like absolutely no one else.'

It's difficult to explain exactly what Fis sounds like. Drawing upon a rich history of New Zealand customs and periods of heavy meditation for inspiration, Fis' tracks have the ability to completely disorientate and absorb the listener, creating rhythms that constantly seem to be cannibalizing one another.

'Preparations' feels forward thinking in the extreme and yet entirely elemental and strangely ancient.

Originally released in the summer of 2014 as a cassette by Baro Recordings, Songs Of Forgiveness is now available for the first time on LP in a limited edition of 500 copies via the New York imprint Pre-Echo. Composed by Cantu-Ledesma during his first winter after relocating to Brooklyn, NY, this suite of six discrete tracks are formed by colliding micro orbits of guitar, drum machine, and synth, all purposefully phasing in and out of sync, and painted with chords of ecstatic melancholica and tape hiss that typifies much of Cantu-Ledesma's work.

A continuation of midnights and dawns of genre mutations and cross-pollinations that reflect an early '90s openness, a happy innocence, pre-excess, pre-casualties and division. When love was the drug. An oeuvre where beats and bass are informed by JA's Dub, underlining the spacial similarities between Acid House and sound system specials, just in case you hadn't noticed. Where fat Blues riffs hang heavy with delay, and optimistic '89 pianos are never far away. A post-"Screamadelica" psychedelia of ethereal sighs at sunset, build-the-box arpeggios and Peech Boys percussion, stoned Rock stomps, Mediterranean sax serenades and vintage sounding Electro Disco from veteran DJs who should know. Authentic '80s synth Boogie, 303 chatter and steel string microtones, acoustic picking and mind-bending audio fractals slip a little livener in your cocktail at a Woodstock on a beach. Detroit Ambience, the stuff of sunrises. Laurel Canyon, Joshua Tree hoe-downs. Sultry, whispered new New Beat where the "merchandise" on offer is dependent on your vice. West Coast surf and sun-blinded Highlife, Spanish Flamenco sueno latinos and lysergic chuggers forged by japanese fusionists. Classy re-works of bandana wearing White Isle classics karate chop through strobes and smoke. Hippy harmonies frug with MACH's "On And On". "Hoomba Hoomba" goes Ital in a chant to bring down Babylon. Gentle african rhythms and birdsong serve to blow away the wicked.

Lichter is the first piece in a new series of electroacoustic dub compositions by Mouse on Mars. It is a massive, lurching, up-tempo percussive epic - a long-haul runaway train that keeps switching tracks without ever losing sight of its destination. Like much of Mouse on Mars' output, Lichter deftly traverses a varied sonic landscape, encompassing elements of jazz, dub, krautrock juke and psychedelia.

Lichter incorporates trigger robots built by Sonic Robots' Moritz Simon Geist and features Andi Toma & Jan St. Werner's long time collaborator Dodo NKishi on percussion. The basic layers were produced with a feedback software called smrph, and were edited, arranged and used as a foundation for various live and studio improvisations. The 13min track, Lichter, is a concentration of these various layers. Lichter is also a highly visual piece, and performed live it employs a bespoke network of light-bulbs triggered by data derived from the sounds and pulses of the composition.

Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner have been recording and playing live as Mouse on Mars since 1993, and have released over a dozen albums. In 2014 the duo celebrated their 21st birthday with a curated festival at Berlin's HAU theatres, and an accompanying compilation which showcased the band's numerous collaborations.

The video for Lichter was created by Paul McDevitt and Jamie Lemoine.

Conceptual beat-maker Nick Klein returns with 'The Lonesome Dealer' 12' for Alter.

Four disparate, industrial-tinged tracks that demonstrate a rough-hewn synthesis of noise and techno, 'The Lonesome Dealer' is born from a geographically transient point in Klein's life spent between Miami and NYC. Despite this, Klein has turned personal disruption around to make his most focussed statement yet as an artist.

From the hypnotic "Caberet Voltaire gone Reggaeton" patter of 'Chats With Lucy' - with its bruised drum machine rhythms and a jabbering refrain that embodies the track's title - to the crawling computer acid of 'Christian Rock Concert', Klein teases out melodies from beneath layers of muddied beats on a record that is as pacifying as it is jarring. Dark and wavy club music for the heads, if you like.

'Do You Want To Crash' is perhaps the clearest realisation of this idea; its crescendoing din of noise giving way to a laser-cut synth line that shimmers like a diamond in dry ice, while 'Pain Management Resource' is built around a clatter of hi-hats and wobbly polyrhythm that bounces along with a kind of ominous glee.

Having studied sculpture and performance in Miami, Nick Klein has largely dealt in sound-based art since moving to New York, but with focus on the potential of a democratic dialogue platform through electronic music, scale in volume, and the active role of touring performer.

Along with Miguel Enrique Alvariño, he co-runs Brooklyn's Primitive Languages label which started from a shipping container in Bushwick's 'Punk Alley'. The pair have so far released sessions from the likes of Profligate, Balloon Movement, Pure Matrix, and Hubble.

'The Lonesome Dealer follows 'Failed Devotee', Klein's previous 12" for Germany's Unknown Precept label.

Rupture continues it's premier role in resurrecting and redefining jungle for the twenty-first century. Newcomer Outer Heaven joins the label's roster for their eleventh release, a hefty three-track EP full of dubbed-out atmospherics, cracking breaks, and contemporary productions techniques.

The winds of jungle-past blow across the sparse landscape of All Headz' - a screw-faced, dread-laden amen workout that leaves just enough breathing room between assaults for the dance to catch its breath before being pulled back into the swirling undertow. Menacing notes hang in the air of this hazy soundscape, punctuated by warped mic chatter and vintage samples.

On the flip side, Rankin'' quickly elevates the system with a hypnotic cut of Afrofuturism dripping in thick, resonant vibes. Precision bursts of acidic fire cut through the smoky atmosphere, leaving room for cascading avalanches of amen fury, while pressure only builds again through the linear repetition of the vocal sample.

Phantasm' begins with a fog of melodic atmospherics that quickly drifts across a heavy, mechanical drum pattern. A savage, organic rhythm emerges, bolstered by hoovering stabs and jangling effects. Although completely unrelenting after the first drop, this closing track never loses its groove.

NCQL's "Breath of the Eve" marries clipped vocals, soaring atmospherics and a driving amen for a track that has become a Subtle Audio anthem since it's digital release back in 2013. After numerous requests they've bowed to the pressure and given it a vinyl press! The breaks in Reactiv's "Metatron Falls" pulse and move with real vibrancy, their vitality representative of the injection of energy a new breed of breakbeat manipulators have given to this style of D&B / Jungle. If you want to hear what they have to offer, then this release would be a good place to start ! Here's to the next decade. "

A trailblazing Radio 1 show, unparalleled club-nights and a promising label, the 1-800 DINOSAUR crew are undoubtedly a focal point for all tastemakers alike. With a string of understated 12' releases, 1-800 Dinosaur are now set to unveil their first full-length release. Anchored by Trim's polarising narrative, '1-800 DINOSAUR Presents Trim' is a collaborative endeavour featuring a slew of 1-800 members and affiliates, including: Happa, Dan Foat, Airhead, James Blake, Klaus Boothroyd and Bullion.
Outspoken and sharp, Trim's introspectively sinister delivery weaves hypnotically between the 1-800 crews' varying soundscapes. Emerging Yorkshire producer Happa - who's stock continues to rise with each release - puts forward a tribal-like march on 'Before I Lied', with Trim eerily advising to 'be careful who you laugh amongst'. Already in circulation, the videogame like progression of 'RPG' seeps with Blake's signature off-kilter soul, feeding the subversive nature that Trim revels in.
Each track unlocks, heightens and explores an alternate, unsettling tone from the E14 resident's armoury. Dan Foat - a notable figure in the re-emergence of the highly reputable R&S label, and all-round music aficionado - contributes a groove-laden affair on '13tH Apostle'. Airhead serves up three idiosyncratic tracks: 'Waco' channels Trim's confrontational nature; 'Stretch' engulfs the analytical, self-reflective view of his isolated position within the UK scene; whereas 'Man Like Me' is undeniably the most anthemic track from the collection.
Bridging a generational gap between pioneer and a product of the scene, Boothroyd provides two contrasting compositions. Having unveiled a remarkable collaborative EP with London mc Maxta towards the back-end of 2015 on Rinse, Boothroyd blankets psychedelic bursts over one of Trim's calmer deliveries on 'White Room,' whilst 'No Manners' is entrenched with a more visceral, grime rooted layout.

After turning heads with an excellent debut for Hessle Audio in February, Ploy returns for his second release of 2016. For this record he relocates to Batu's Timedance, the fourth release of an exciting year for the label. Ploy shows his ear for striking, off-kilter ideas, whilst staying aware of dancefloor functionality. 'Iron Lungs' combines ghostly atmospherics with crashing ride cymbals and sub drops. It's as impactful as it is odd, striking a middle ground between the two.The B-side continues the motif unrelenting percussion and textures. 'Number 24' bounces around a 4x4 kick and bulky congas, while 'Footprints In Solid Rock' strips back the elements to reveal a broken form, combining swung percussion and eerie flutes.

Martijn Deijkers is a man of many facets: The Dutch-born now Washington D.C.- based artist and Panorama Bar resident started DJing in the 90s, producing in the noughties, released on labels such as Ninja Tune, Warp Records or Steffi's DollyDubs amongst many others as well as his own 3024 imprint - always with a unique, distinctive sound, nestled somewhere between 2-step, House, Dubstep and Garage. After having remixed Shed's "Another Wedged Chicken" (2009) and contributed "Miniluv" to Ben Klock's Berghain 04 (2010) we're happy to finally offer a Martyn solo 12" release on Ostgut Ton. Falling For You starts with the almost ten minute-long track of the same title: Opening with a major piano motif and some field recordings from along the road the A-side picks up momentum through its luscious Garage-inspired rhythm, bubbling synth bleeps, organic percussion and more subtle yet stirring piano motifs. Berliners may be familiar with Kreuzberg's 'Kotti' and its converging trains U1 and U8 - let's say it's a fascinating, multiculti yet rough place. The same goes for "U1-U8" on B1: a slightly darker offering with syncopated melody, hihats, claps and sampled shehnai sounds sitting atop the hollow kick. "Ahmadiya" closes this release with a rather pensive-tempered synth, string elements, beguiling piano strokes and a more break-heavy vibe. Winter may be coming by the time of release, but this record has club-meets-afterhour-meets-summer's-day written all over it.

Late Night Tales and Bonobo were pretty much made for each other, it just took them a while to both realise it. 'I'd been thinking a lot about this idea of skewed club tracks that constantly shift in and out of time like they're on the precipice of dissolving or collapse,' says the producer, from Melbourne. 'Straining against whatever holds them together but maintaining that tension. Tarkovsky calls it 'space frozen in a dynamic equilibrium'. I'd also been listening to a lot of Steve Reich, Monoton and Arthur Russell, particularly how their work can induce this meditative trance-like state through drifting repetition in rhythm and melody.' For this inaugural release the french label BFDM introduces two young promising producers aka The Pilotwings. Agorespace is an excursion, a trip where dark and killer drums meet with some soft melodies and primitive percussion.

Trance Beats is a wonky house track made up of hip-hop/jungle breaks and synthetic animal sounds, a powerful combination of tribal rhythm and creepy synths. On the same side comes Cavernes Magiques, a modern electronic tune where raw 707 jams gives way to Trippy dance pads, 90's influences. On the other side a strong techno track contrasted with bright synths called Cours-la-Ville, a dark and long exploration.

For release number ten, Happy Skull have come full circle with the return of original label alumni Adjowa. The UK based producer and musician has fired up his orchestra of rusty, defunct machines to deliver three highly melodic, unashamedly oddball disco jams.

Inspired by low budget, private press boogie, italo and electro records, the tracks were recorded to tape in one take with no post-production and dubbed live on a crackly old desk.

The word 'Aven' refers to an underground shaft that leads upward from the roof of a cave passage.

Bethan Kellough creates sound worlds that weave together instrumental materials, sound design and ambisonic field recordings. Her composition 'Aven' is based on a recording made in Iceland in 2015, which features the booming sound of underground geothermal activity escaping to the surface through a small shaft. "Looking down into the darkness, there was a sense that a whole world existed in an unknown space beneath. The sound world of Aven is a journey through such an imagined environment." The composition is driven by this sonic encounter, but enters the imagined worlds beneath through the instrumental material developed throughout the work. These melodic passages predominantly feature violin, which Bethan has played since childhood exploring traditional Scottish music, rock violin, free improvisation and classical studies. The field recordings used in Aven were made in Iceland during the Wildeye sound recording workshop with Chris Watson and Jez riley French, and in South Africa during the Sonic Mmabolela residency with Francisco Lopez and James Webb. Each of the recordings explore a world of sound beneath a surface, reflecting upon the initial recording environment at the geothermal site. In South Africa, an approaching storm was heralded by wind blowing through bushes in the savanna, underneath which was hidden a Soundfield microphone. A contact microphone on a fence in South Iceland revealed the tones of the wind contained inside the wires, and in an Icelandic nature reserve the wind was also captured by microphones buried underneath a layer of grass - a miniature world sheltered by the strands of dry straw.

Bethan Kellough (formerly Bethan Parkes) is a sound artist and composer. Her work spans across ambisonic composition, field recording, sound design and multichannel sound installation practices, drawing a focus on sonic spatial experience. Her works are designed to open out spaces with sound, exploring spatial aesthetics and the interactions between sonically and visually articulated spaces. The immersive sound-worlds she creates inhabit the boundaries between music and sound design, weaving together instrumental materials, sound design and ambisonic field recordings.

She holds a PhD in Sonic Arts from the University of Glasgow. In 2015 she joined the Touch Mentorship Programme.

Her works have been exhibited and performed internationally, including at Touch Conference, Los Angeles, USA, Gallery of Russian Art and Design, London, UK, Resonant Forms Festival, Los Angeles, USA, Borealis Festival, Bergen, Norway, Jardins Efemeros Festival, Viseu, Portugal, Spazio Bocciofila, Venice, Italy, The Global Composition International Conference, Dieburg, Germany, Symposium on Acoustic Ecology, University of Kent, UK, Sound Thought Festival, Glasgow, UK.

Young producer from Amiens, Duns Scott first fell in love with rock and post rock. It's after coming across the music of Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin and other Warp artists, that he starts delving into the many subgenres of electronic music. Eventually, he becomes a proper record digger of Jazz, Funk and Disco, which will deeply affect his music writing. Neidio' is the outcome of a mixture of influences, each tune with its own idiosyncratic sound and story. Timelanding' was drafted as if a real studio session with actual musicians was happening, the jazz vocal samples try to instate the synergy of musicians interacting with each other. Neij' is the imaginary soundtrack of a dream inspired by the art cover of the EP. Mixed by Duns Scott / Masterized by Sven Weisemann.

Literary all the Granny Smith apple trees grown today, from Uruguay to Hokaido, are CLONES from Mrs. Smith's original tree in Sydney. Bananas, oranges, watermelons, garlic & other fruits of daily delight are routinely replicated without any input of external ideas - i.e., they are cloned. There is no general ethical or aesthetic decision to be formed about CLONES, since you have already imbibed them ever since your first bite. Thus, you are not in a neutral or otherwise preliminary position, but already involved, kneedeep. It may not be a coincidence that the first mammals, warm-blooded egg-layers and small marsupials, date almost exactly to the period of the first flowers, evolving some 125 million years ago. Quick-thinking, vegetable eating mammals provide a most striking example of cooperation in evolution, as their interest in plant foods led them to become well-fed. A bond has been formed. Seedless plants, like banana and oranges, have made a most remarkable dispersal strategy: season after season, human growers CLONE them. The plants are perpetuated because they taste so good. And that's about it. Much has been said about Elektro Guzzi's aptitude in transcending their instrumental sources towards techno of unlikely beauty, pristine consistency and razor-sharp definition. It tastes good, and thus they have decided to CLONE themselves. Elektro Guzzi plow through their own fertile ground of ideas and sprout structures, textures and gestures into a dizzying array of new offerings. Yet the tunnel vision of the singular point of origin of all tracks makes it smack even more. Because there's never too much of a great thing.

* Fierce and Zero T has become a serious formidable collaboration of late, the pair has resurrected Quarantine, a label close to the heart of many fans and now we are presented with these two tracks.

Madplate Sound, the dub production duo originally from Turin and Bristol, is in position for its second vinyl release featuring the lyricists Jago & Galak Spiritual.

The duo's next single catalogued as 'MS026' receives both a healing remix and dub version treatment by Steppas Records' head-honcho Alpha Steppa, who has recreated two master- pieces from Madplate Sound. The way these original samples weaved through the musician's mixing desk results into a flawless dub sound.

Loyal listeners of known Moonshine Recordings content won't be surprised when they hear the original version of 'Tension': its anthemic status is derived from strong brass elements, low- pitched bass and fitting vocals from Jago and Galak Spritual. Along with the confident pace, dedicated dub mixing and peaceful sound textures, Madplate Sound allows listeners to drift off to Jah without any use of imagination.

Alpha Steppa steps up the to plate by bringing forth a more laid-back stepper for the flip side. While the Steppas Records' dub-in-chief mainly focuses on both the ultra-sonic and low-end pulses, he settles the vocals to the forefront intelligently. This way, he achieves a refined inclusion that outweighs anything you'd come to expect from the English producer on remix duty.

The dub version is even more meditative than the existing remix, notably when it propagates through a good set of speaker boxes. The singing is almost completely stripped, remaining elements are heavily delayed and the reggae riff is pushed further into space. A refined sound remains, which really forms the oculus of this gigantic dub that smoothly corresponds to everything you need to enjoy full delight in dub.

The first release on new Berlin-based label Per Musica Ad Astra is Mick Clarke's 'Zusammen!' LP, the follow-up after many years to his debut solo release 'Games' on German label Blubberlips in 1979. A pioneer of UK electronic music, Mick was also in legendary synth-wave band Naked Lunch, and apart from producing music under a few different aliases over the years he also finds time to run the Flight Recorder label and is a regular programmer on Intergalactic FM, hosting both the Radio Oscillations and Magic Waves shows. The music here is very much in the spirit of the label's kosmische/space Berlin-school agenda, both reflecting his earlier work and exploring new territory simultaneously. Lush orchestrations and beautiful synth pads contrast against hypnotic rhythms and delicate melodies, and while the label's mission might be electronic listening music' tracks like 'Red Bird' and 'Mistral' are surely DJ material too. The latter evokes a sound similar to vintage Basic Channel, while other parts of the album flow through sonic territories as diverse as Tangerine Dream and the Berlin school of ambient, Warp Records' classic 'Artificial Intelligence' series, deep electro and even atmospheric Italo as well. The record comes in a beautiful sleeve with notes from the label, and comes free with a nice space insert! Definitely not one to miss!

Breakbeat Paradise Recordings presents JiggyJoe with his EP named 'Shake It'.The 'Shake It' EP combines JiggyJoes unique mix of rare grooves, old school hip hop, ghetto funk, breakbeat and dubstep along with some latin, arabian style and 90s synth flavors.

The title tune is produced with a true legend in the Funky Breaks scene: Skeewiff, who is known and loved for his breakbeat contributions - dating all the way back to the bigbeat era. Skeewiff has released a number of albums on Jalapeno Records as well as his own Pedigree Cuts and we are proud to now have him feature on BBP release. Another legend features on a remix for this EP - Ursula 1000 from New York is throwing down some bangin' beats on his version of the Shake It track. Finally the B-side features countryman Jazz.K.lipa in the co-pilot chair on the Welcome track.


JiggyJoe has been a DJ for 13 years playing various styles of music and has played in various parts of the world including his homeland Germany, the UK, Spain, USA, Russia, Canada and many more. With guests on this EP including 'Claire G Phunk & Rayna MC' who were featured on BadboEs 'Pump up the Funk' album from 2012 and newcomer 'Tatted up Toon' this promises to be an EP worth waiting for.

Shake It EP is the very first JiggyJoe's artist EP to come out on vinyl and it's also the first glance of what to expect of JiggyJoe's full length album called Get Jiggy!, which is set to be released over the summer - right here on BBP.

The "XY" EP marks 10 Years of prolific activity for DubKraft Records, a music label that runs under a simple motto: "Bass, Spirit, Character". X is the Roman number 10, while Y obviously stands for "Years". The two letters also represent the two sides of the vinyl record, two worlds bridged by the label, and the symbolism runs way deeper than that. The artists chosen for this very special release are some of the heavy-weights that have been most influential for DubKraft's history:
Label's honcho Alien Pimp remixes an epic collaboration between UK drum&bass legend Loxy and the international combo Marginal, titled "X". Marginal follows up with an 170bpm cyber-ballad guaranteed to stimulate empathy in artificial intelligence.
The "Y" Side of the record is fully taken by one of the most epic pieces of bass music ever created. Another drum&bass legend, this time from Russia, namely Dissident, starts with dubtech atmospheres, follows up with intricate jungle amens and for the closure lands on an ambient vibe. Nothing words can describe.
All in all, "XY" EP is a collection item for anyone that loves bass music and drum&bass in their most advanced and futuristic forms.

* Continuing the successful 'Dispatch Dubplate' series, we're pleased to welcome the 4th release, coming from Cern. Each vinyl showcases a thicker set 180 grams in weight, hand numbered (1 - 300), hand-stamped, signed, with an added label sticker pack with all 300; never to be re-pressed.

* 'Hollow Moon VIP' sees a release as the first track on 004, the hysteria fueled VIP that we have received continued requests for; something that has formed and remained a staple part of DJ sets for Ant TC1 & Cern over the past year. * 'Hydraulic' is the next track to feature as our Dubplate Exclusive; a collaboration between Cern and Atlanta based Mayhem (best known within D&B for his early productions with Noisia). The result is an authentic, early 2000s tech step vibe; relentless drum programming, but just enough groove & character to stand out from the crowd.

* Completing the package, Cern returns to sampler track 'Tiamat' from his recent 'Under Another Sky' album to deliver a re-work that goes up and above the call of duty, delivering an incredible sequel that firmly de-thrones the much loved original.

* Bad Taste Recordings hit 2016 in severe kinetic style with a fresh pair of tracks launching the identity of Malux, the new Neurofunk-focussed moniker of established bass producer SKOPE (Inspected). With "Turbine" and "Fonk" the agenda is clear - energetic, funk-fuelled DnB driven by detailed low-frequency design and a boisterous rave vibe.

* 'Turbine' carries with it a stripped aesthetic, with a percussive pattern driven by the snare and wonky plucked synth work. This is heads-down, bassface material for ravers to get into step to. 'Fonk' on the flip hits a cheeky upbeat tone, switching slickly between bass textures punctuated by staccato sonic fragments.

* With support from scene titans such as Andy C, The Upbeats and radio play from Friction on BBC R1 and Crissy Criss on Kiss FM, Malux has immediately caught the attention of those who know. Bad Taste hits the nail on the head again, introducing another name with a big destiny into the halls of DnB.

**180 gr** As soon as the first sunset of the year forms on the horizon, Barrott's thoughts always go back to his beloved Sketches project and he now returns with four new tracks for EP 3, again with beautiful artwork from Stevie Anderson.

Two years ago, as his first summer in Ibiza beckoned, Mark Barrott was heading off to bed one night when he had an idea for a track. That was the first track to feature the infamous Uruguayan Botanist Dr Nimm and spawned what ultimately became the first Sketches from an Island EP.

Although International Feel are known for sometimes been a little mysterious and contrarian, that first EP was only a 300 press as Barrott didn't think that many people would be into what he called 'slow, weird music'...it turned out he was wrong, it sold out on the day of release and that coming winter, he hunkered down to work on what became last years acclaimed 'Sketches from an Island' LP, lauded by everyone from Terje to Trevor Jackson, it's evocative, melody driven atmospherics and beautiful birds of paradise artwork has taken on a life of it's own.

He briefly broke cover again last winter with those Tuff City Kids for the Balearic classic 'Balanzat' and again in April this year, with the ultra deep 'Bush Society', but as soon as the first sunset of the year forms on the horizon, Barrott's thoughts always go back to his beloved Sketches project and he now returns with four new tracks for EP 3, again with beautiful artwork from Stevie Anderson.

'Right 4 me' feels like the natural successor to the sunshine in a bottle vibe of 'Baby Come Home' and he also revisits the bizarre world of Dr Nimm (this time via his Mysterious Island ). The polyrhythm's of 'Cirrus & Culumus' trace his love of Ghanan Music & Steve Reich and closing track 'der Stern, der nie vergeht' is reminiscent of every beautiful sunset you've never seen, blended with the delicate sounds of Roedelius and recontextualized for his Sketches world.

Although now firmly entrenched in his Ibizan compound, this summer will see Barrott break cover to take up a residency at Harvey's Mercury Rising night at Pikes and also provide sunrise sounds at this years final Garden Festival, before decamping back to Ibiza to start work on the second Sketches from an Island LP.

* A staple of Bristol's thriving hardware electronics scene, Dylan Mallett is the sole force behind the exhilarating sonic currents of Silver Waves. Tightly orchestrated symphonic noise is paired with bludgeoning splinter rhythms and fractious melodies to create brutal electronic epics, which leave senses nourished and obliterated in equal part.

* Having been making music in various forms over the past five years, Mallett first unscrewed the jar on the tenebrous brew of noise he'd been fermenting in his attic with a pair of tape EPs released through Howling Owl Records affiliated art collective, bulb, landing him show stealing support slots for the likes of Pharmakon and Powell, as well as a recent airwave shattering live performance on NTS Radio. EP3 is Silver Waves' high-water mark to date on which Dylan evokes complete junglist dysmorphia; a bruised and feedback-damaged take on amen break abandon that pounds like early Wolf Eyes, betraying the kind of ear for detail that an HD soundsystem will no doubt reward. Keeping it local, EP3 garners remixes from two of Silver Waves Bristol-based contemporaries; shapeshifting noisetechno duo Giant Swan, plus recent Blackest Ever Black signee and Young Echo's resident master of pitch-black dub, Ossia.

* A co-release between Berlin's most enticing new dark-electronic label Portals Editions and Bristol's now-well established noise loving provocateurs Howling Owl Records, EP3 commits Silver Waves to 12' for the first time, with tracks so far making appearances on Roly Porter's FACT Magazine mix and Orphan Swords' mixes for Abyssal and NTS Radio prior to their release. The tide is rising.

Seems MC Rayna's so busy these days with her band Antiplastic that there's little time for for the sort of sterling guest vox that have graced beats by the likes of Badboe, Skeewiff, Jiggyjoe, Sammy Senior, Tonic, and Tosses. Luckily Ale Tosses of the latter has used all his wiles to get Rayna on two new cuts. What to call the LP though I know - Tosses feat. Rayna! Doo Wop is a vaguely electro-swingy bass-heavy number while Joy is a gloriously chugging slab of guitar-powered breaks fuzz. Of course it would be rude not to have a remix so who better than Jayl Funk to work his magic on Doo Wop and imbue it with a summery nu-funky party breaks vibe. The full package in vinyl, also includes a spread of stems including instros, vox and FX from the two original mixes. And you can't argue with that!

When Hugh Tracey (1903-1977) made 35,000 field recordings across Sub-Saharan Africa between the 1920s & 1970s, his intention was to reveal the beauty and complexity of the music to a world that saw little value in it. Today, almost 90 years later, Tracey's bid to preserve the music of Africa for future generations' lives on. 'Beating Heart - Malawi' has connected the archive at the International Library of African Music (ILAM) with contemporary producers, making fresh sounds for a modern audience. This "originals" album collates the source material supplied to modern contemporary electronic artist to remix but is a historical document in its own right and a fascinating insight into Malawi's rich musical heritage.
He recorded: Mouse-hunting songs, African separatist hymns, songs about rain and poverty, songs for pulling canoes, songs which warn against European beer, songs which complain about venereal disease, songs about the sounds of unseen aeroplanes, songs about a mosquito overturning a lorry, about a donkey complaining it wants wages instead of maize, about a baboon that dies after somersaulting for joy at hearing the sound of drums, commentaries on urbanisation, labour organisations and a praise song for a bicycle mender.
Building on Tracey's vision, the income generated will be used to assist people in the areas where the music was originally recorded.

Brett Naucke is an experimental and electronic composer based in Chicago, IL. Working largely with modular synthesis, each track of Executable Dreamtime is made up of a single patch, much like in his previous LP Seed on Spectrum Spools. But on this new album, Brett started from the idea of categorizing reoccurring dreams thematically, and making sounds accordingly with a single patch for synthesizer. Those patches used on each track were made of a polyphonic auto-melody generator that behaves based on random note orders. Each process has its own life after it is programmed but it follows a specific structure.

Mitchell Akiyama and Tony Boggs (aka Unfollow, Joshua Treble) return with their first collaborative release since their Letters Letters project for Type Records in 2007. Drown Variations runs the gauntlet from Zoviet France inspired soundscapes to post-Bristol amp worship, spectral arpeggios, broken drum machines, and half-remembered drones.

Here we see Italian brother duo Elia and Niro Perrone, release their debut long player in the shape of 'Pescaiola' the name of the suburbs the pair grew up and paying homage to their musical roots growing up together.

Across the duration of the 'Pescaiola' LP Easy To Remember serve up a amalgamation of raw and intriguing electronic, house and techno cuts. Opener 'Hanckora' lays down a lo-fi infused Hip Hop style to kick things off, while 'Checkma Dem' lies in similar territory with the addition of some vocal stylings as well.

For the most part though Easy To Remember lay the focus on emotive house music, title track 'Pescaiola' plays on multi-layered melodies and retro synths, 'Hijack Percussion' focuses on gritty rhythm and soft atmospherics and 'Try To Escape' brings to light ethereal synth leads and snaking bass grooves. The duo instil some funk influence into the LP as well via 'Feelings' and some experimental touches as well with their Giulio Etiope collaboration 'Degolas' amongst others. All in all Easy To Remember deliver a refreshing take on modern electronica across the project and further prove Unclear is a force to be reckoned with in the underground.

Originally released in the summer of 2014 as a cassette by Psychic Troubles, Songs Of Remembrance is now available for the first time on LP in a limited edition of 500 copies via the New York imprint Pre-Echo. Compiled from recordings spanning two years and various locations, the 21 tracks on Songs Of Remembrance act as snapshots of various times and places, cover a wide range of sonic ground, and call to mind any number of imagined spaces via drum machine, guitar, synth and tape explorations.

Bucharest's own Khidja have been an active part in the local nightclub scene over the past years. After first appearing as co-compilers of the Romanian Jazz LP for Sonar Kollektiv, it was finally a remix for Baris K on (Emotional) Especial in late 2013 which put the duo on the want list of many tasteful DJs around the world. The time was just perfect to appear with oriental soundscapes having been the most sought-after spice in dance music during that summer period. Two original EPs on Especial and Forgotten Corner popped up in spring 2014 and gave evidence that Khidja scheduled themselves to be around for the long term. Looki stands out to be the perfect Balearic aftermath to Telephones' previous release on Love On The Rocks. Pursuing the transcendent motive from sunrise to sunset, it is far away from the arabesque melodies of their previous productions. Khidja speak their hearts to the sound of the Neo-New-Age generation - no beat, no stress, just a guitar, the beach and the sea. To accompany are three remixes to catch any imagination. Godfather of the MDMA-infected sound synthesis, Lauer needs no further introduction, epic as ever, the perfect take, moving the track from chill out to dance floor with uplifting grace. Australian newcomer Fantastic Man is next, dropping the guitar for good and kicks in with a polyrhythmic tribal rhythm for a dance floor friendly mood. Closing the EP are the one and only Africaine 808, who bubble up the original with a cascade of reverbs and delays, embedded in a reduced yet complex dub beat, constantly raising desperate demands for that unattainable peak moment. Maar, the duo of Michael Vallera (Immune's Cleared and solo works in Opal Tapes) and Joseph Clayton Mills (Haptic), returns with Absolute Delay. The title, defined as the interval between transmission and reception of a signal, encapsulates their aesthetic of fissures, broken patterns, and spatial dislocation. Expanding on the palette that characterized their debut Ceto (Umor Rex 2014), Maar draws even more deeply on their influences—in particular, the warped atmospherics of dub and the severity of minimalist composition—to create something that defies easy classification. Translucent drones and traces of field recordings are deployed to create shifting degrees of focus, while flickering electronics are pieced together in a disorienting mosaic

The six tracks on Hollygroove are articulated with an almost unmistakably American diction, yet draw heavily upon UK grime styles, existing in a double refractive flux of club music dialogue that transcends geography much like Rabit's own output.
Upfront, they rumble out the shuddering echo chamber drill menace of Lie Dormant, an aching balance between stasis and cocked tension, whilst the dank-but-dainty southern bounce of
Hollygrove nails a sort of gaunt 3-step swagger aching for an acapella, and Mjolnir sounds like a Scratchy '05 riddim sent into orbit.
Flipside, that classic grime sound is twisted back into the twinkling 8-bar dancer, Kanagawa Homicide, and Behemoth veers back to U.S./Latino club sounds, and finally Gatekeeper ascends/
descends into heavenly hellish, weightless baroque synth structure.

With Far Islands And Near Places Parisian pianist, composer and multi-instrumentist Quentin Sirjacq releases his solo debut on Karoake Kalk. While he has collaborated with Dakota Suite on the 2014 release There Is A Calm To Be Done for instance, this is the first release under his own name for the Berlin label.

Siavash Amini returns to Umor Rex with a collaboration with Matt Finney. Each track tries to capture the emotion inside the words of Matt, and to score the images created with those vocal elements. Siavash Amini expands the scope of the words with refined ambient and drone introspection. Even if the opulent sonic textures and the neo-classic suggestions signature of Amini's work are here, it is all rather different this time around. There is a larger focus on catharsis, and greater doses of distortion, than in his previous works.
