playing 90's Video Games, therefore we were heavily influenced by their soundtracks. So we've selected the very best soundtracks to give a facelift and these are the results.
The first track, 'Silkie vs Joss Ryan' - Sub Castle, is a reimagination of a song from the 'Super Mario World' soundtrack. Next up is 'Silkie -FF7' which samples the
'Final Fantasy 7' Fighting Theme. And, last but not least we have, 'Silkie - Sonic Boom' which takes on the Guile Theme from 'Street Fighter 2'.

Emotional Response returns to Dusseldorf with a compilation of the music emanating out of the Diskant label over some 7 EPs between 2009-2014. Featuring the productions of The Durian Brothers, Harmonious Thelonious and Don't DJ, their unique polyrhythmic percussive sound of the label is highlighted across this special double album.
Releasing this collection of works of the Diskant label is special as it was the discovery of Disk01 on the wall of Honest Jons store back in 2009 that was one of the prime influences in the creation of Emotional Response. Obscure, rhythmic music like no other was matched in striking artwork, presented on screen-printed sleeves that caught the imagination.
Since then a lot has become known about Dusseldorf's music scene. DJs, artists and labels like Musiccargo, Wolf Muller, Lena Wilikens, Tolouse Low-Trax, Themes From Great Cities, Vladimir Ivkovic, Kunstopf, B.A.R and more have all deservedly reached out beyond the original meeting and melting pot that is the Salon Des Amateurs to become names to watch.
With so much interest centered on this cultural hive, it is only right that the Diskant collective of musicians is now viewed and their music appraised for how ground breaking and influential it has been on the Cities unique musical perspective.
Born out of the early years of the Salon (check online for suitable live clips), the label was set up as a vehicle for the music and member's music of The Durian Brothers. Florian Meyer (Don't DJ), Stefan Schwander (Harmonious Thelonious) and Marc Matter. Coming together from their own music backgrounds to explore a new experimental polyrhythmic para-funk via distorted electronics. Using specially prepared turntables, hypnotic rhythmic patterns, noise and sequencing they have created a dense and fuzzy excess that over four sides of vinyl is here now presented as a retrospective, but not an end, to highlight their unique sound.

The flip side, Calavera, is a different beast entirely. Equally as musical as Levanter, trumpets and guitars introduce the listener to this piece of music but the introduction of the bass reveals a very different and contrasting side to the artist.
Calavera has grabbed the attention of DJ's across the Drum and Bass scene, championed by the Metalheadz camp and finding its way into the highest calibre DJ's sets.

Les Disques du Crepuscule presents Space & Time, a brand new album by Deux Filles, the reclusive arthouse duo comprising Colin Lloyd-Tucker and Simon Fisher Turner, aka Gemini Forque and Claudine Coule.
The fictive French girls released two high-regarded albums of ambience and found sound at the dawn of the 1980s. More recently both Silence & Wisdom and Double Happiness drew praise from Richard King in his book Original Rockers for their 'dreamlike solemnity immersed in a cloud of echo from which incorporeal voices emerged then retreated with unnerving suddenness' and 'music sounding as if borrowed from a chamber piece and re-scored for an ethereal ensemble of recorded whispers and ticking clocks.'
Since the girls' first aural stirrings Simon Fisher Turner has become a prolific soundtrack composer (Caravagio, Blue, The Epic of Everest), as well as finding cult pop success as The King of Luxemburg. Alongside a string of eclectic solo releases, Colin Lloyd-Tucker's vocal and production credits include work with Kate Bush, The The and Sweet Dreamer.
Space & Time sees Deux Filles reunited after 33 and a third years of silence, recorded on a musical Grand Tour which took in France, England, Scotland, Nicaragua and Japan. Now, as then, fellow travellers include Matt Johnson (The The), Anni Hogan (Marc Almond) and The Elysian Quartet, as well as Paddy Bush, Maggie Ronson and David Coulter.

At this point, James Clements aka ASC is clearly in an entire musical realm of his own. With critically acclaimed releases for prominent & well respected ambient, techno, and electronica labels, everything James produces continues to resonate with the most progressive minds in the electronic music scene.
Having cut his production teeth on what was known as 'intelligent drum and bass', James went on to dismantle the very framework of 170 bpm musical creation and re-assemble it into a new adventurous, spacious design which would eventually morph into what became known as 'Autonomic'. Providing the very first album for Instra:mental's 'Nonplus' label (his 6th as ASC), James entered into a flurry of songwriting form that would continue to evolve as he became frighteningly prolific, spreading his unique approach effortlessly across tempo's and non tempo's to re affirm his powerful singularity in a field of music dominated by copyists and recycled ideas.
2015 brings us to his 12th album as ASC and second for Samurai Red Seal. Following on from 2012's 'Out Of Sync', 'Imagine The Future' is the 170 bpm Sci Fi dream-state LP we always hoped ASC would make. An enveloping futuristic sound environment, 'Imagine The Future' conjures images of parallel worlds, much like the Blade Runner movie and soundtrack did for us all in the early 80's and into the 90's.

In November of last year I closed up my studio in Berlin to embark on a 3 month journey with my family primarily to Chile where my wife is from with several other stops across Latin America. Having just completed the production process for the box set of my first 3 ~scape albums on one hand, and looking toward the upcoming work on what will be my 10th artist album, the trip provided a unique opportunity to take stock of where I've been as an artist and what I wanted to say in the next chapter of this process. Due to the extensive travel schedule and few hours I would have for music making each day, I limited myself technically to focusing on collecting field recordings and renewing my interest in free form software synthesis experiments with no consideration of how they may later fit into a traditional song context. These limitations created a framework in which I spent the first few hours of each day creating what affectionately came to be known as the daily drone. While this in and of itself provided a wealth of inspiration and a reconfirmed that deep, patient listening is as an important part of my creative process, the tragic death of my father in law in an accident in mid December would ultimately lend these exercises an entirely new level of gravitas. The death of a loved one brings with it a full spectrum of powerful emotions and inescapable reflections of both one's self, place in the world, and ultimately one's own mortality. As such, what began as a collection of daily musical exercises was suddenly transformed into a virtual space for my own quiet contemplations. Music offers a singularly powerful opportunity for catharsis beyond any written word. It is my hope that others may find similar room for reflection amongst these humble drones.' Deadbeat, March 2015

Italian arcade electro superstars Mat 101 are back with this LP of lost recordings from the vaults on Cyber Dance Records. Back in the late 90s when electro was first being resurrected and transformed into a more European dark psychedelic style Mat 101 were at the forefront of the revolution, taking inspiration from the pure electro sounds of the arcade games of their youth and representing the classic Italian sound in new and unexpectedly brilliant ways. Their legacy was immense, spawning Jollymusic, Pigna People, Raiders Of The Lost Arp and Francisco (among many other projects) and inspiring subsequent generations of electro wannabes with how to do it properly ever since. This LP brings together their lost recordings, some intended for a second LP that never was, along with live cuts and rarities as well as other unreleased material. However the album is in no way merely a random collection of lost bits and pieces - what is surprising is how fresh, finished and naturally flowing the record sounds, so much so that it really would have made a worthy follow up to their classic 1999 'Goodbye Mum!' first album. The breadth of sound on the records, from the gently hypnotising strains of 'Marble Madness' and the blissful climax of 'Gloria Gloria' to the intense electro jamming of 'Commando' and the progressive rave monster 'Toys Around', is truly stunning. And with dancefloor anthems like 'Falling Down Suite' and 'Musicadambiente' thrown into the mix too the release is essential ammunition for both DJ activists and armchair-listeners alike.

and raging 3-D objects. The large sized Mr. State-opera-chorister Aigner and the dwarfish Universal-bush-leaguer
Dr. Bruckmayr also are known for their benedictional work with the performance-group Fuckhead; for them they
count as finded minds. Mussurunga is a frowing suburb of the brazilian provincial capital Salvador da Bahia, which Aigner and Bruckmay vistied job related. While one of them waited without success for a date in Mussurunga and spent all the spondulix which was meant for the taxi, the other one worked very hard in the regional beach-bars on artistic concepts. The result of this jobshare is, among other things, the present EP.

For the past few years Rabit (aka Houston, Texas based producer Eric Burton) has sent shockwaves through the underground via a series of acclaimed 12' and EP releases, building an increasingly bold and challenging discography. He's been at the center of some of the most exciting, emerging electronic communities, sharing ties with both the Berlin based, dance deconstructionists of Janus (Lotic, M.E.S.H.) and with UK based grime experimentalists like Mumdance and Logos.
With the release of Communion, the follow up to his acclaimed EP (and Tri Angle debut) Baptizm, Rabit shows no signs of letting up. As a sound designer Rabit has continued to push himself into new and compelling territories, reshaping various 'club' sounds into something alien and unpredictable, but with the release of this album he's heavily politicized his music in a way he'd only hinted at before.
The deeply personal aspect of his creative process, and what has been described as an ' intangible something ' in his music, resonates with listeners on a gut level, both pushing and pulling the listener into a world of destruction and rebirth. 'Communion' is a complex, disorientating album, and one that feels especially timely considering it was primarily inspired by issues relating to sexuality, gender, ownership of our natural bodies, societal and governmental injustices, and media manipulations, the discussion of which have been so prevalent of late. Consequently 'Communion' runs the full gamut of emotions; confusion and bewilderment transforming into anger and confrontation, finally ending up in a place of possible hope; the sound of earthly chains on the soul being broken.

For years now AIDAN BAKER has proved himself one of the most productive and versatile artists when it's about postrock, drone or ambient. Since his beginnings in the early millennium, the guitarist has released numerous albums with his duo NADJA, CAUDAL, B/B/S/, solo and in various collaborations with artists like TIM HECKER, THISQUIETARMY or TROUM, documented on labels such as ALIEN8, IMPORTANT or MIASMAH. "In The Red Room" presents BAKER, currently living in Berlin, in a duo constellation with IDKLANG aka MARKUS STEINKELLNER (guitar), member of JAKUZI'S ATTEMPT and ARKTIS/AIR, who in the past has besides his own projects worked with ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE, AVA MENDOZA or EUGENE S. ROBINSON (OXBOW). With their guitars and effects the two create a gentle, yet uncanny ambience that unfolds in two epic pieces, each clocking in at around 20 minutes. As often with BAKER's music, "In The Red Room" transgresses genres and instead melts their diverse elements into one: ambient's detailed sound design is paired with drone's experimental guitar approach and krautrock's repetition for a psychedelic excursion of pure beauty.

'a day in the life' - the brand-new ambient and beyond album by lawrence, confirms this assumption - yet no world really collapsed on the dj and producer from hamburg. instead his emotional perception danced upon friendship and wanderlust and he put together twelve tracks for an album dedicated to his long lasting relation to toshiya kawasaki, man of action behind labels like mule musiq, endless flight and mule electronic, and the artist stefan marx.
besides co-running the label dial and the mathew gallery in berlin lawrence is constantly releasing music on his own labels and befriended platforms like smallville records. furthermore the north german regularly contributes to kawasaki's imprints mule musiq and electronic. just recently he dropped the ep 'blue mountain' on mule musiq - a deep emotional foretaste of what 'a day in the life' delivers on album length.
the music he shares on his latest long player isn't linked to a special place or event. he mostly produced it up-road on his dj trips around the globe including toshiya's homeland japan. back in his cosy backyard studio in hamburg he finished all musical pieces and mixed them down with a lot of joy.
they are listening to great track names like "nowhere is a place" or "lost in joy", which allow in combination with the lovingly detailed sounds imaginative mind games. in terms of style ambient calls the tune and opens the genre into the wide open with the very own musical and emotive language of lawrence.
a track like 'nowhere is a place' spreads smoothly twisted spectral vibes with blurring sounds that could easily originate from alienated instruments like a damaru or a conch horn. lawrence himself keeps it secret and let the music speak for itself. sometimes soft sizzling noise slides under gentle balanced ambient air like in the track 'the visit'.
in other arrangements he let the chords dance with cute smacking electronic glimpses or odd slow-motion melodies remind on the work of hans-joachim roedelius and his love for the gentle swing.
all compositions float and sound like the improvisations of a virtuoso who has forgotten his virtuosity in order to drown real deep in his creations. for lawrence the album is 'a triple buddy record' as not only his emotional content is included in the finished product. also his friends stefan marx - who is in charge for the artwork - and mule musiq head toshiya kawasaki have been profoundly involved in the outcome.
'since ten years the three of us work together. the record shows this very nicely in terms of our love for ambient music and cover artwork. the cover shows stefan's sublet apartment in nyc - also a very ambient place.
the idea for the record emerged out of a sudden inspiration and this fits prefect to the way how toshiya runs a label where sharing a good natural wine is more important than marketing.'
lawrence confesses about the genesis of 'a day in the life' and its emotional content. it is a weightless one where all feelings are stored supremely in what you can hear, see and hold in hand. and they are not made for them alone. they are there to share.

Plasma Audio have been on a roll this year. They've racked up releases from the likes of Icicle, Safire, Rido, Proxima, Cursa, Kolectiv and Survey and now they've got a heavy remix single from the mighty Alix Perez. Sabre's track Yoga came out on Plasma in 2014 to critical acclaim and now it's got a whole new lease of life, courtesy of Mr. Perez, with two new versions.
Both remixes have manage hold on to plenty of the original's wonkiness. The Club Mix creeps along with an irregular pace. Buzzing synths call out and reply to each other in a conversation, which builds up an abstract sonic landscape that bulges and swells as the track continues. The Warped mix brings more space to the track's reinterpretation resulting in a more dubbed out feel accentuating the tracks sense of pace.

The lead track 'Friday Night' showcases the two older members of the family Yaga Yo and Daniel who take the lead vocals in a typical West African highlife style with a song about money grabbing women and men's willingness to hand over the cash. On the flip, 'Auntie Fatty,' Malaika, a singer and toaster from Northern Ghana adds a different flavour on the same rhythm. East London producer DrumTalk rounds it off with a signature remix bringing in elements of Detroit techno and old-school analogue house music.

Yoiking is the ancient chanting practise of the Sami People - the indigenous peoples on the top of Europe. Yoiking originates from time immemorial - legend tells that it was the faires and elves of the arctic lands that gave yoiks to the Sami People. Yoiking was an important element of the religious rituals in pre-christian times and has survived both christianity, imperialism and the fact that Sami areas were confiscated by the states of the north, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Russia.
Ánde Somby is deeply rooted into the yoik tradition. He comes from the eastern part of the north Sami areas and in the tundra tradition of the reindeer herders and from the valley tradition of arctic farmers. His yoiking is both quite technical as well as melodic - Somby is at the same time an innovative yoiker. All the 3 pieces on side A are his compositions. His signature as a yoiker is an expressive style performed on the borders of the human voice.
The title of the work refers to the fact that the migratory birds that have made it to the arctic for their breeding season are an important part of the record. With the assistance of a local crow they break the arctic silence by singing and calling. The title also makes a more subtle reference to the sound flying from the echoing mountains.
The project itself has three inspirations, the yoiks were given to the humans from the fairies and elves. This gives an emphasis on that yoiks are of the earth. The second inspiration is that there is a war against fairies and elves going on, in Norway that war was waged by the national poet Henrik Wergeland in the song Nisser og Dverge and has continued with stripping the earth of its soul and giving free license to aggressive exploitation. The emphasis is asking the fairies and elves if they still are doing good. The third inspiration is the European myth about Narcissus and Echo, Echo does not find her love as Narcissus rejects her, but she is given an eternal voice. Yoik and Echo meet in this work as echo yoiks along together with the underground energies.
The recordings are made by Chris Watson the world famous sound artist and the leading field recorder. The recordings took place in Kvalnes Lofoten mid June in 2014 in a moment while the arctic winds had a little rest. Chris Watson has also done the post production. A K Dolven took the photos for the project and has been instrumental in developing the concept. Thanks also to Tony Myatt.

In making these recordings available for the first time, the closely-related labels reveal another side to Brindefalk's known catalogue of '90s techno and warmer electronic dub stuff, one much more likely to broach black metal tropes and discomfiting concrète than anything warm or friendly.From the chaotic scramble of its opening couplet, the tape cuts into what sounds like a free astral jazz jam captured in bristling lo-fi, before flinging us back into the abyss with a druggy passage of hoary howls streaked with traffic noises.It gets no less wigged-out on the flip, serving as proper ear floss across four paper-cut-raw pieces of choked electronics, clattering hip hop cut-ups, and what could almost be the sound of an ogre doing the dishes.

Coming in a luxurious box with hard cover on canvas like a painting, this new Cinedelic production rediscovers 3 rare 70s gems of Maestro Egisto Macchi. Born in Grosseto, Macchi studied in Rome composition, piano, violin and singing with, among others, Roman Vlad and Hermann Scherchen, and Human Physiology at the Università La Sapienza. Since the late fifties Macchi has been active in organizing music, in collaboration with a group of musicians (Franco Evangelisti, Domenico Guaccero, Daniele Paris), to whom he was bound by strong friendship. Along with Dominic Guaccero, Daniele Paris and Antonino Titone, he was among the editors of the magazine "Ordini", which appeared in 1959. With Bertoncini, Bortolotti, Clementi, De Blasio, Evangelists, Guaccero, Paris, Pennisi, Franco Nonnis, Macchi founded in 1960 the Association of New Consonance, on whose board he has repeatedly been a part, also holding the position of President from 1980 to 1982 and in 1989. Following the ANC was the dawn of the activities of Settimane Internazionali di Nuova Musica of Palermo. After giving life with Domenico Guaccero to the Teatro Musicale di Roma, Macchi was one of the founders of Studio R7 - an electronic laboratory for experimental music born in Rome in 1967. In the same year he was one of the members of the Gruppo d'Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza founded in 1964 by Franco Evangelisti. Macchi's time in the 70s was mainly dedicated to experimentations in library music and film scores. Among the most noteworthy soundtracks he made at the time were for the label AYNA, which gave him full artistic freedom. From that catalogue, Cinedelic is reissuing together the LP PITTURA CONTEMPORANEA (CONTEMPORARY PAINTING) and the double LP PITTURA MODERNA 1 & 2 (MODERN PAINTING 1 & 2) released in 1975. Marching Church, formerly an outlet for the mostly solo musical experiments of Elias Bender Rønnenfelt (Iceage, Vår), metamorphosed into a full band during the sessions for a 2014 LP on Sacred Bones, This World Is Not Enough. The installation of a permanent supporting cast of collaborators did nothing to tame the project's wild spirit, and that record was an eclectic, eccentric mix of post-punk, improv, soul music, and more. With Coming Down: Sessions in April, Marching Church reaches even further afield, backing an intensely personal A-side with a fully instrumental 21-minute free jazz odyssey.
It's an excerpt from a two-hour long improv session,' Rønnenfelt said of the track. Which I guess was an attempt at playing jazz music, though no one involved had any experience playing jazz.'

Thurayya¯ Qaddu¯ra from Jerusalem; Yu¯suf Ta¯j, a folk singer from Mount-Lebanon; Farjalla¯h Baida¯, cousin to the founders of Baidaphon Records... Musical directors like the lutist Qa¯sim Abu¯ Jami¯l al-Durzi¯ and the violinist Antu¯n al-Shawwa¯ (followed by his son Sa¯mi¯); such virtuosi as the qanun-players Nakhleh Ilya¯s al-Matarji¯ and Ya'qu¯b Ghaza¯la, and lutist Sali¯m 'Awad. Even at the time, notwithstanding such brilliance, public music-making was frowned upon as morally demeaning, especially for women. Musical venues were generally dodgy. Sulba¯n once cut short a wedding performance for the Beiruti posh, after just one song, he was so disgusted with his audience. 'If I had to tell you about the catcalls,' one commentator wrote about the musical theatre of the time, 'the stomping of feet, the sound of sticks hitting the ground, the noise of the water-pipes, the teeth cracking watermelon seeds and pistachio nuts, the screams of the waiters, and the clinking of arak glasses on the tables, I would need to go on and on and on...'

Sheffield DJ/Producer Louis 'Taiko' Robson has consistently agitated the boundaries of dubstep music, manipulating eclectic influences in to his productions with bold, original arrangements, intricate percussion, experimental instrumentation and unforgettable subs, and he's not held back with ALBION002.
Title track Splinted dons the A Side of the release and sets the standard high with its heavy sub, percussive melody, and string lead. Robson has taken inspiration from contemporary orchestral composers such as Terry Riley and Steve Reich initiating the creation of the drums and percussion, which add a rich analogue sound to the track, and with that an almighty atmosphere. Folk-like scratchy strings take the lead which is a theme set for the EP and highlights Taiko's tenacity for sound design and disregard for convention. Each eclectic element of the track compliments the next resulting in a guttural, energetic dance floor cut, with dark undertones making the listener feel agitated or anxious. A pulse raiser strictly for sound system use.
Over on the flip side, starting with the outer, Taiko offers a much warmer vibe throughout Fractal, flexing another experimental set of instrumentation, this time round building rhythm with an accordion sample. An enormous rolling sub bass instantly becomes dominant after the short intro and meticulous percussion exaggerates the astounding impact from the drums. In the break expect a much murkier tone with a grimey string sample leading to the second drop. Robson achieves a certain level of feel-good whilst maintaining a dark and aggressive tone in his unmistakably raw track.
Nickel takes the inner side on the flip, following form to the prior with its accordion sample adding a distorted guitar drone for the melodic intro. The acoustic instrumentation couples up with irregular drum work solidifying the EP's 'live' aesthetic, whilst maintaining a dance floor orientation. Tonnes of energy meets masses of bass, Nickel is a recommended set opener and a great close to the EP.

Fresh for 2016 comes a brand new 7" from Montreal based producer Poirier. Taken from his forthcoming album "Migration", "Jump" is his take on the classic dancehall sound of the 90s and features a bonafide legend from that era, NYC's very own Red Fox. In the producer's own words: "I wanted to reference the 90's dancehall vibe, but with a modern feel of my own. After I'd made the beat, Red Fox instantly came to my mind - because he IS that sound, that voice!".

During the last three years a new name has been making waves at Ostgut Ton and Berghain: Berlin born, raised and based producer Kobosil made his debut with a remix of Barker & Baumecker's Silo' (Ostgut Ton, 2013), completely unknown at the time, he has quickly earned his stripes as a DJ on the club's main floor, eventually becoming a resident at Berghain. Following up on five subsequent 12" releases and Kobosil's first live sets, his debut album sees him covering yet new ground in the form of a full length release. Titled We Grow, You Decline the eleven new pieces dare you to readjust your perception of Kobosil's previous releases and invite you to listen carefully - in a more quiet environment than the usual dancefloor setting. We Grow, You Decline marks a swerve from club-contextual tracks towards a more musical, multilayered song format, but it's worth mentioning that the album is not a reinvention of Kobosil's past production efforts. There have always been distinct hints of his fondness for more abstract, non-dancefloor rhythms, discomforting sounds and mindful listening in his young discography - most notably Plant 5', Less' (RK3, 2013), Herschel' (Unterton 05, 2013), There' (MDR 10, 2014), Head' (RK1, 2014) and most recently Athtar' (O-TON 91, 2015).
With his debut album Kobosil delves even deeper into Ambient and Industrial soundscapes. Drawing influences from Musique Concrète via Electronic Body Music towards present-day Techno, the tracks combine gritty textures with melodic hints and contrasting bleak off-beat rhythms with Drone passages. This album doesn't cater for certain expectations and the opening title Telling The Truth' is already leading astray, its steadily increasing synth pulse and constant crackle don't culminate in a maximalist floor pleaser but segue into the field-recording-led Dub Techno cut To See Land' and the hissing melancholy of Reflection'.
"The Exploring Mountain' follows this vibe by asynchronously intertwining a hollow kick drum with organic percussion and distant bells. This piece serves as the album's first predetermined breaking point. Its final kicks anticipate Kobosil shifting his focus towards a more Techno led middle section in form of the hypnotic Aim For Target' with its slow but steady build-up and subtle, swirling melody.
Meandering, brittle harmonies first introduced to the Kobosil sound on his recent 91 EP ( Avernian', Ostgut Ton, 2015) also find their way into The Living Ritual', topped with his trademark kick drum, alienated percussion and a beguiling synth layer towards the end both tracks would suit Berghain's main room perfectly, but in the album's context they simply form one of many layers.
We Grow, You Decline adds new aesthetics to the Berliner's production style by conveying a certain darkness and distance while keeping some easy and gentle touch. Underneath the delicate, crackling surface of songs such as When I Speak' and the aforementioned To See Land' there are distant voices to be heard, while they're more prominently featured in the throbbing, atmospheric Eihwaz' and the robotic pulse of You Answered With Love', the human element is kept restrained and unfathomable inside some tense moods. With "They Looked On" Kobosil unchains the listener during the overright inute-spanning, culminating last track and the hovering suspense that is prevalent throughout the album is dispersed into a warm, hazy horizon.
We Grow, You Decline is a bold statement from Kobosil's growing musical repertoire and a reflection of his multi-faceted artistic development by expressing his own artistic voice without ingratiation in the form of conformity. Music, bright like a smile and dark as the soul.

* Black Eyes is the signature track from the EP and kicks off proceedings with an infectious fret- driven undertone. Powell's swirling vox add further hypnotic draw reminiscent of early Lemon Jelly or Karl Hyde. A refreshing un-quantized approach assists in building a heavy 4/4 neck-breaker of a groove. The whole composition oozes simplicity and constraint, with Powell's parting aberration delivering the mood for the whole EP "You don't know day until you've felt the night'. Afterlife is the dystopian bridge track that NIN wish they had wrote, using a droney guitar riff and angst- laden licks the track has tungsten running through its arteries. The trio manage to avoid vocals on this occasion instead delivering a pressure cooker atmosphere that churns through chromatic patterns until the very last chord is hammered out. Divy completes the offering with a contagious Bristolian trip-hop vibe that again delivers in the spine-snapping department.
* Completing the EP, Alan Fitzpatrick graces 'Black Eyes' with his aptly named "Loft Rocker Rework'. Abundant use of intensifying modular rumbling and Lenky-esque african claps herald a herculean build. Respite is offered briefly through a heavily filtered sample of Powell's original vocal but only momentarily until were forced back into the oppressive cauldron and caustic environment that Fitzpatrick has sustained.

* Tectonic label boss Pinch returns to home territory with his latest tales from the darkside. Hard, uncompromising beats, sculpted for twisted dancefloors.

More than just an album: The Castle Life project has been an amazing adventure.For three months, Jerome Meyer AKA Von D, moved his whole studio and lived everyday at the Chateau Éphemère'.There, Von D had found the ideal place to experiment and produce an album far from the digital-based world so prevalent nowadays. Completely focused and fully immersed, Von Dizzle wanted to give this album a human, hand-crafted and tailor-made dimension. Castle Life is a concept album based on a rigorous analogue production process.With careful, attentive listening, you can sense the warmth and discover the charms of the sound being processed through many old-school analogue gear: spring reverbs, analogue tape delays, Valve EQs, compressors and a big old analogue mixing desk that Von D had the pleasure of manipulating live on recordings, and in the process, brought back the 'the old Dub way of mixing to modern-day music.'The castle's intimate walls have born witness to many comings together and myriad special shared moments:
Phephe and the legendary Murray Man, both coming from Birmingham, UK, stayed at the castle whilst they recording their vocals straight in Von D's Studio. Producers likeStepz and Niveau Zero had also come to Von D's artistic abode at the castle to carry out real collaborative work.
In addition, many esteemed jazz musicians of great talent whom Von D grew up with had passed through the studio: soprano saxophone player Matthieu Asserre, trumpets, trombones, electric guitars, electric bass, palmas (Spanish hand percussion), toy pianos, analogue synths. Swindle has also given his digital blessings to one of the tracks with his trademark Jazz Funk keyboard skills.
Such sessions have given birth to an authentic and rich musical body of work.
As for those who couldn't make it to the castle such as Mc Fats, Pupajim andFlatmate, these collaborations are without a doubt the fruits of a real musical and human relationship.
Von Dizzle gives the album's ten tracks a unique vibe through the passion and precision of a real orchestral conductor.
Castle Life LP oscillates genres seamlessly and in total freedom. It encompasses soul, digital reggae, dub and bass music, making it a rare, golden piece of music that is authentic and unassuming, as well as maintaining a warm, fresh and up-to-date sound.

The new PERIHEL series on Karlrecords kicks off with previously unreleased material by GRM member GUY REIBEL, one of the most enigmatic figures of 20th century's electronic avant-garde. Limited edition 180gr LP (500 items) incl. DL code and liner notes by REINHOLD FRIEDL (ZEITKRATZER).
GUY REIBEL (born 1936) is one of the most enigmatic figures in the post-war electronic music scene. He started out with a double qualification: he first became an engineer and then studied composition with OLIVIER MESSIAEN in Paris, the teacher of KARLHEINZ STOCKHAUSEN, IANNIS XENAKIS, FRANCOIS BAYLE, to name just a few...,
PIERRE SCHAEFFER, the director of the GRM (GROUPE DE RECHERCHES MUSICALES at Radio France), very soon offered him to edit and work out the famous Solfège-3LP-Box that was the practical part of his theoretical manifest "Traite des objets musicaux" and to codirect the class for electroacoustic music at the National Music Conservatory.
During that period REIBEL worked intensively in the studios of the GRM. He did not only compose some milestones of electronic music, he also developed a very music-based theory of electronic music: he included his ideas of musical gesture and game theory already in the sixties long before anybody else discussed those issues.
Conflicts with other members of the GRM made REIBEL leave the group (though he was for long time considered to be SCHAEFFER's successor as the director of GRM) - instead, REIBEL toured the world as conductor of his newly founded GROUPE VOCALE DE FRANCE (who realized the first complete recordings of LIGETI's choir-work) and also took over a director's position at Radio France. Meanwhile his electronic music almost disappeared (there were only two or three LPs available on the early GRM series, later just one CD) and in some ways he became the Trotzki of the GRM who was removed from the acoustic photos of the group.
"Douze Inventions ..., " has been digitised at the GRM studios in december 2014 and is now finally being released for the very first time - a milestone in electronic music and a perfect example for REIBEL's musical austerity: very defined and limited musical material results in concentrated and dense forms. The unusually vital character of the music is also due to his use of hybrid sound production: he very often combined amplitude envelopes of acoustic sounds and noises (especially and very often of polysteron) on synthetic electronic sounds. A few of the pieces are even played at least partly live: TM+, the legendary first live-electronic French group, was founded in 1977 by three of REIBEL's students: DENIS DEFOUR, LAURENT CUNIOT and YANN GESLIN. They were almost the first purely electronic group that also toured Europe extensively with their analogue synthesizers.
This album documents how GUY REIBEL succeeded to compose a music that combines the density and purity of electronic music with an unbelievable sound sensuousness. A real listening experience, here released for the very first time as LP and DL!

For years now HANNO LEICHTMANN has been one of the most prolific protagonists of Berlin's electronic music scene and beyond: as experimental percussionist and electronic artist LEICHTMANN has released several albums under his real name, aliases such as STATIC and THE VULVA STRING QUARTET or in bands like GROUPSHOW (with JAN JELINEK and ANDREW PEKLER) or DENSELAND (with DAVID MOSS and HANNES STROBL) on labels like CCO, KARAOKE KALK, M=MINIMAL, DEKORDER and STAUBGOLD. LEICHTMANN also composed and produced the soundtrack to CHRISTOPH SCHLINGENSIEF's "The African Twintowers" (the DVD will finally be released this summer , 5 years after SCHLINGENSIEF's tragic death). Besides his musical work, LEICHTMANN also curates conceptual music festivals, like "My Favourite Thing" in 2008 and "Letra/Tone" in 2014. In 2013 he released "Minimal Studies" where he started building tracks mainly by using super short loops from various sample sources. When asked to contribute to TAPEWORM's ongoing tape series, he browsed the remaining 30+ remaining cassettes of his once huge collection, took little snippets of favourite songs, ran them through a modular synthesizer system and created about 40 short pieces, all about 1m30s long. LEICHTMANN: "They are highly influenced by and, at the same time, a hommage to: JOHN OSWALD's "Plunderphonics", STOCK, HAUSEN & WALKMAN's "Me" 7inch and above all YASUAKI SHIMIZU's "Music for Commercials"." Originally released in a limited tape edition (200 items), "Unfinished Portrait Of Youth Today" is now available on LP for the first time - including 6 bonus tracks that were previously unreleased. Invisible Inc's second release comes courtesy of synthesizer krautrock maestros Higamos Hogamos.This EP's influences are clear: early John Carpenter in his darkest, seediest hour, Amon Duul II in heavy pagan-trance mode, the psychedelic sounds of garage rock all topped off with a heavy dose of jacking synthesizer funk.Higamos Hogamos is the brainchild of Steve Webster who, assisted by a revolving core of similarly minded musicians, released an LP and a flurry of 12's on J. Saul Kane's now defunct DC Recordings. These were followed up by a succession of outstanding but highly limited and obscure CDRs both under the Higamos Hogamos banner and then later by offshoot project Spacerocks (who featured on the first Invisible Inc EP). Limited to only 300 vinyl copies, this EP hopes to re-address the balance between obscurity and underground cool and get some of this great music out of the ether on on to your decks! As the world catches on to the music and live performances of Klartraum duo Nadja Lind & Helmut Ebritsch, the pair look to the release of their deep yet wonderfully eclectic second album 'Secret moon'...
Berlin based Nadja Lind & Helmut Ebritsch have been working together for over five years now, but it is in the last twelve months that the duo's Klartraum project has really come to prominence. Both Nadja & Helmut have a solid musical history recording for the likes of Darkroom Dubs, Soma & Morris Audio yet it is through their shared musical output that they have really captured the imagination, producing deep and moving electronic music that fuses elements of techno, house and electronica.
Out of the studio the duo have taken their sound on the road, performing as Klartraum live at London's Fabric, the infamous Ukrainian festival Kazantip and Goa's renowned Shanti club to rave reviews and rapturous response. In the coming months they will also be appearing at dates in Australia and across Europe.
'Secret Moon' is a rich and diverse collection of tracks that reflect Klartraum's journey since the release of their debut LP, 'Evolution' in 2011. From the opening atmospheric ambient recording of 'Berlin Intro' it's clear that this is not to be a straight-laced 'club' album but rather a body of work that ebbs and flows through styles and sounds with little regard for genre. Downtempo cuts such as the breakbeat based 'Something Wrong' or the off kilter 'Universe' add a depth and variety to the mix yet Klartraum's production skill and musical sensibilities work to make the album work as a whole. There is a deep hypnotizing feel to this whole album, keeping you locked into the experience as the album progresses. Tracks such as the epic 'Secret Moon' and the sublime 'Sell Your Soul' have an almost cinematic feel to them; drawn out, spacious and mesmerizing. Klartraum's 2011 debut was a real achievement but 'Secret Moon' takes things to the next level with a strength and energy that is tempered with an audible maturity of production.
Nadja Lind & Helmut Ebritsch have their own way of creating music, making much of both their spiritual leanings and their hands of approach to 'jamming' out tracks live. Whatever it is that drives them it certainly works, for Klartraum are rapidly becoming an act that cannot ignored, making great music and taking it to the world via their passionate live performance. The idea for "Double Automatism" was born in 2012 when TALIBAM! and SAM KULIK were invited to interpret YASUNAO TONE's graphic scores and game pieces as part of the Japan 1955-70 avantgarde exhibition at the Museum Of Modern Art in NYC where they met the fluxus / electronic artist and immediately developed a mutual affinity for each other. Six months later the trio invited TONE (born 1935) for a recording session - KULIK on trombone, MATT MOTTEL on hisRoland Alpha Juno 1 analogue synth, KEVIN SHEA (also drummer in MOSTLY OTHER PEOPLE DO THE KILLING) on electronic MIDI mallet percussion and TONE using his self-developed MP3 Deviations on his notebook. The 2 epic pieces on "Double Automatism" not only continue TALIBAM!'s enduring explorations of new musical territory beyond genre-limitations, the album is also a forceful testimony of TONE's unique artistry that was documented by recent collaborations with RUSSELL HASWELL or FLORIAN HECKER (all on EDITIONS MEGO) and solo works on TZADIK or ASPHODEL.

Upon first glance, one could be forgiven for wondering which is the artist and which is the title of this album.
Memphis' Larry Gimmer' Nicholson still remains a great unknown today, despite his having orbited the periphery of the city's music scene since the early '60s, playing with artists ranging from Furry Lewis to William Eggleston and influencing a young Chris Bell (Big Star). Fusing classical and folk music, the sound Gimmer created for Christopher Idylls was evocative and unusual, its chiming guitars recalling the music of centuries past while also-when recorded in 1968-being quite desperately ahead of its time.
The album was recorded with Terry Manning (Big Star, Led Zeppelin), who describes its creator as one of the world's most enigmatic people. I don't know how many people really knew him because he was such a private person, a 'full of love' person, who had a dark side as well.' The six compositions that comprise Christopher Idylls were composed out west, Manning believes, while overlooking the Pacific Ocean. They were laid down in 1968 in four weeks of intimate sessions at Ardent Studios that saw Gimmer experiment by feeding acoustic guitars through delay pedals, layering and layering the sound live-one of the first examples of electronic repeat being used as part of the music.
The album was supposed to be the first full-length LP release on Ardent Records, but there were understandable concerns about the size of audience that might be waiting for a curious instrumental album such as this. Meanwhile, Gimmer put blocks in the road himself: he didn't like the original mixes or the sleeve and eventually decided he didn't want the album released at all. He got his way but, Manning argues, the influence of those chiming guitars can be heard in the sounds floating out of Memphis in the decades that followed-especially in Big Star.
Having personally played it to luminaries including Jimmy Page, Manning was frustrated he couldn't get the album to a wider audience. It was one of the best things I've been associated with-and it still is,' he says. It was Manning who finally convinced Nicholson to release the album on CD in 1994 and who was talking about recording more with him when Gimmer passed away at just 54 years old in 2000. Now available on vinyl, it's Gimmer's time to chime-and shine-again.

Meeting by Chance is a solo project of Marcin
Cichy co-creator of the legendary Polish duo Skalpel
(Ninja Tunes), one of the most important talents from
Poland to come into the international limelight.
Marcin considers "Inside Out" as his solo debut
album, despite numerous previous albums in
collaboration with other artists. Marcin felt it was now
the right time to sum up his own ideas and share
them. Musically you will find an eclectic blend of
jazz, leftfield, and ambient.
Marcin, always a very careful observer, took
inspiration for Meeting By Chance from a sequence
photography by Duane Michals entitled "Chance
Meeting" comprising of six photos of two passing
strangers. The sequence has no definite end but
rather a pregnant pause, and this combined with
freeze-frame creates a space. This gave Marcin the
idea for music that fills this space with a magical and
dreamy soundscape filled with creative, sublime
sensitivity, giving both the composer and listeners a
brief portal away from hectic reality.
Meeting by Chance also takes its influence from a
chance meeting with three female vocalists who are
featured throughout the entire album. Ayuko and
Mayuko (recording for Japanese label FLAU)
and Magda added a unique and intimate feel to the
project. Dominik Tarabinski's photo on the cover
gave some flesh to this spacious productions bones.

Prayer has released music on Zomby's Cult Music records and on Warp Records as part of the Duo Kollaps. His music has been picked up by a wide spectrum of dj's from Benji B to Diplo. He is a classically trained musician who uses brooding melodies to drive his tumes forward. Prayer is founding member of Grade10 and he has recently done mixes for Ninja Tune's Solidsteel radio and he has appeared on RinseFM and RinseFrance as well as Radar Radio and NTS Radio. Prayer has also worked with the Tate with their mixtape series and recently he was asked to choose his top midnight hour tracks for Dummy magazine.
The Beneath EP has been well recieved in the music press and it got 9/10 in Mixmag, the highest mark they have given, it has been featured in Dummy magazine, Clash Magazine, Crack Magazine and the EP was premiered in XlR8R and Running was streamed via I.D magazine. The video for Hope was featured on Wonderland Magazine and the EP has been picked up lots of other smaller blogs and websites. It got two seperate blog posts on Hypem and clothing retailer Wellgosh also did a small feature on the record.

Relocating from Nottingham to Bromley, releasing "The Fruit Club EP" on Lossless in March, his "Wanna Fight EP" dropped on Klute's Commercial Suicide in August, the sci-fi themed "Replicant" marked Lossless Music's first digital only release in October and his "Late Night Sleaze EP" has been awarded Mixmag's 'DnB Tune of the Month' (Nov'15 issue). On top of all this Alex is about to launch two (yes two!!) sub-labels for Lossless Music. The first of these is Exkursions. Exkursions will cater for the deeper, more experimental side of dnb & electronic music. Though concentrating it's tempo focus around the 170 mark Exkursions will also be taking explorations down into slower soundscapes. The first release is a 3 tracker from Soul Intent and the tracks have already turned the heads of respected selectors including Doc Scott, Presha, Loxy and Logistics. "Kore" is a natural advancement of REINHOLD FRIEDL's earlier composition "Xenakis (a)live!" (released 2007 on ASPHODEL) - a homage to the French-Greek composer IANNIS XENAKIS. The piece is conceived for nine amplified instruments demonstrating ZEITKRATZER's well established tradition of instrumental amplification (e.g. the early collaborations with ZBIGNIEW KARKOWSKI or MERZBOW and more recently with WILLIAM BENNETT of WHITEHOUSE) where playing amplified does not only mean making things louder, it also entails having a microscopic view of sound in which acoustic microsounds appear in a completely new context. The references to seminal XENAKIS' tape compositions like "Persepolis" or "La Legende d'Er" are audible in the materials and textures, densities and sound masses performed by ZEITKRATZER, taking it to new areas of physical qualities that create a huge sonic architecture. Minimal Wave is pleased to announce a second release by Belgian favorites Linear Movement.
The collection entitled 'The Linear Way' marks our 59th release on Minimal Wave and continues our celebration of 10 years as a label. The album is a collection of warm melodic electronic pop songs that have for the most part remained unreleased until now. Linear Movement is Belgian mastermind Peter Bonne (A Split-Second, Twilight Ritual, Autumn) joined by Peter Koutstaal, and Lieve Van Steerteghem contributing vocals on the final track. The songs 'The Linear Way' and 'Don't Try To Trick Me' appeared on the exquisite Pulse Music cassette (released by the Micrart Group in 1983) while the rest were never officially released. Our last collection of Linear Movement material entitled On the Screen came out in 2008 and is now long sold out. We're very excited to present this special archival album and finally make these tracks available. The Linear Way LP will be presented in a heavy quality full color printed sleeve, pressed as a limited edition of 999 copies on 180 gram pink vinyl, and released in mid-October. Info on Croydon's shadowy firespitter & beat sculptor Rocks FOE is scarce. He poses a unique combination attack, with a rap style that combines the catch-all hooks of grime with the sheer lyrical dominance of classic US rappers like Pharaohe Monch & GZA. Dig into Rocks lyrical tidal wave and you find arcane religious references and Anime characters punctuated with frequent direct knock out put-downs. He blends the obscure with the instant to future proof his verses. Every beat on Legion was also produced by the man himself. Never one to stand still, he chops and grafts Grime and Hip Hop with DNA from Horror composers.

Revered Chicago-based instrumental group Tortoise, comprised of Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Doug McCombs, John McEntire and Jeff Parker, have spent 25 years making music that defies description. While the quintet have nodded to dub, rock, jazz, electronica and minimalism throughout their acclaimed and influential six-album discography, the resulting sounds have always been distinctly their own.
It's a fact that remains true on the hotly anticipated forthcoming new album 'The Catastrophist', due out 22nd January via Thrill Jockey and Tortoise's first studio album in nearly seven years. They have conjured sounds that aren't being purveyed anywhere else in music today.
Recorded at McEntire's famed Soma Studios, it's an album where moody, synth-swept jams like the opening title track cosy up next to hypnotic, bass-and-beat missives like 'Shake Hands With Danger' and a fantastic cover of David Essex's 1973 hit song 'Rock On' sung by U.S. Maple's Todd Rittmann. Throughout, the songs on The Catastrophist transcend expectations as often as they delight the listen's eardrums.
Rock On isn't the only vocal moment on the album. Yo La Tengo's Georgia Hubley distinctive tones are on the bittersweet classic soul/R&B vibe ballad 'Yonder Blue'. This also marks the first time a Tortoise album will feature a guest vocalist singing original lyrics.
'Gesceap', the first track which you can hear from The Catastrophist, is a stunning seven-minute long, minimalist rhythmic piece, morphing from two gently intersecting synth lines into a pounding, frenzied full-band finish.

* And so, the end is near. The aptly named End Game EP, from Trilo will fill the role of HWARE38, one of the final projects for the Renegade Hardware label.
* Always forward thinking; always marked by quality and dedication, the standard doesn't slip on the End Game EP. Trilo is a producer from Slovakia, now residing in Poland, who has issued music on Bad Taste, Eatbrain, Disturbed,as well as Hardware. Involved in music all his life, Trilo has been steadily evolving as an artist and this EP is a perfect showcase of this development and his work fits right into the legacy of the Hardware empire.
* Opening track Gatekeepers is collaboration with another fine break through producer - UK based Artifact. This cut perfectly sets the tone for the EP, with eastern influenced sounds emanating and filtering around a filmic beat and fascinating strands of melody. The track is heavy without being overbearing, showing flashes of light to contrast with the darkness.
* Track 2, Outburst is straight no-nonsense Hardware business of the finest order. Step back, take it all in and shock out. Full of atmosphere and control. Synth stabs ride the rails, as Outburst follows its own path into the future.
* Next up is the title cut Endgame. A lush, layered trip into the unknown, where Trilo opts for a more considered approach, before ramping things up with stinging bass runs and sharps twists and turns back and forth. Multi-dimensional, rising and falling, this one has it all.
* Last word goes to Closing Chapter, finishing as the EP starts with another collab, this time with a production outfit that has been creating big waves in the dnb scene recently - the mighty Zombie Cats. The track, with its suitably reflective intro, soon runs into a a paranoid educing state, unleashing a bombardment of jagged beats and bass as we venture once more last time onto the sonic battlefield.

* Perennial Hardware favourite Loxy teams up with Resound for The Hour. Dark, dusty and menacing, this one starts as it means to go on with recessed beats and a stalking sense of atmosphere. As things continue, you are taken further into The Hour's universe, as angelic vocals sit on top of marching, clashing beats, as otherworldly effects hit you mind, body and soul. The tracks on HWARE35 are amongst some of Hardware's best, far above the regular of yesterday and today.
* NC-17 gets all Jet Lagged on the closer. Buckets of attitude, acres of rolling bass and miles and miles of crashing, chaotic breaks make this one a worthy inclusion on the EP. NC-17 never loses control of this one, keeping everything regular as he goes above and beyond.

Italian record producer, songwriter, performer and DJ, Giorgio Moroder is frequently credited with the pioneer of synth disco and electronic dance music. Over the course of his career, Moroder has worked with some of the most famous names in music including Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Cher, Janet Jackson and David Bowie. Moroder now collaborates with Bruce Sudano for this limited edition Station To Station record. Bruce Sudano has also written songs for ledgendary musicians such as Michael Jackson and Dolly Parton as well as a successful country solo career.
The Vinyl Factory has partnered with American multi-media artist Doug Aitken and the Barbican to bring his acclaimed 'Station to Station: A 30 Day Happening' to the UK for a month-long, building-wide, art intervention, from Saturday 27 June - Sunday 26 July.
For the duration of the event, which features residencies, installations, live performances, workshops, screenings and more, The Vinyl Factory has created The Vinyl Factory Recording Studio to provide a space for musicians and artists to experiment and improvise and has installed The Vinyl Factory Press on-site to manufacture these recordings into vinyl editions.
Giorgio Moroder and Bruce Sudano recorded this edition as part of the original Station to Station, which crossed North America by train from Atlantic to Pacific over 24 days in 2013. Pressed on-site at the Barbican Centre for Station to Station July 2015.

Psychedelisch-hypnotische, sehr rhythmische und stark geräuschhafte Klanglandschaften.
1115 sind ein experimentelles Kraut-Rave-IDM-Duo, bestehend aus Grau und Fehler Kuti. Die beiden
Musiker trafen sich 2015 und begannen miteinander in Fehler Kutis Küche in der Münchener
Westermühlstraße zu jammen. Offensichtlich sprang der kreative Funke gleich über, denn schon in kurzer
Zeit standen die vier Tracks für ihre Debüt-EP "The Drowned World". Während Grau Kuti einen virtuellen 808-
Drumcomputer, Bass und Synthesizer verwendet, bringt sich Fehler Kuti mit Loops und modulierter Stimme
ein. So kamen psychedelisch-hypnotische, sehr rhythmische und stark geräuschhafte Klanglandschaften zu
Stande, die einerseits ravetauglichen Charakter besitzen, andererseits aber auch zum konzentrierten
Zuhören zwingen. Klingt in etwa so, als würden Dieter Moebius und The Residents mit Rosetta Tharpe und
den Spaceman 3 am Deck eines Kreuzfahrtschiffs auf dem Ganges improvisieren, während im Hintergrund
ein kultisches Hindu-Ritual gefeiert wird. Das Album ist im Übrigen nicht nur eine Referenz an J.G. Ballards
surrealen Zukunftsroman "The Drowned World", sondern vor allem ein Vorgeschmack auf einen richtigen
Langspieler, der für 2017 angekündigt ist und unter Mithilfe von Cico Beck und Markus Acher produziert
werden soll.

Oof records is the home of DJ Oof & music agency Ping pong from Paris representing Ninja Tune since 1998. They signed Lunivers with the hit single "Happy Route" & remixes of Supermen Lovers. Now Aron Ottignon is opening more the spectrum & soon their biggest project called Dance Conscious.
New Zealand-born, Paris-based pianist Aron Ottignon has been steadily expanding his instrumental craft as a jazz pianist - both on
his own and in collaboration with artists such as Stromae and Woodkid. For his latest release, Ottignon sought out the production talents of fellow-antipodean Rodi Kirk, and enlisted UK steel pan and percussion virtuoso Samuel Dubois. The resulting 'Starfish EP is a kaleidoscopic ride through electronically-augmented, percussion-heavy 21st century jazz that also takes musical cues from a variety of non-Western music styles. Preparing to perform the EP in a live context, the challenge for the three musicians lay in recreating the intricacy and sonic detail of the studio recordings while leaving enough room for the energy and improvisation of a great performance. For his part, Rodi Kirk arrived at a solution involving Ableton Push, a Tempest drum machine, a mixing desk, and a custom Max for Live device. Thus, with the electronic elements on equal footing with the piano and percussion, the trio now had ample room to maneuver within Ottignon's dynamic compositions.
Ready to test themselves in front of an audience, for their debut performance Ottignon, Kirk and Dubois set up their instruments at
the historic Funkhaus Berlin for an intimate live recording session, and Ableton's camera crew was on hand to document the whole

Seit Benny Boeldt 2007 nach Baltimore umsiedelte, hat er unter dem Alias Adventure drei Alben bei Carpark
veröffentlicht. Mit dem Vinylalbum "8 Of Cups" schlägt er ein neues Kapitel in seinem künstlerischen Schaffen
auf. Nicht allein deshalb, weil es die erste Veröffentlichung unter eigenem Namen ist. Wer sich beim Tarot
auskennt, versteht auch den direkten Zusammenhang zwischen dem Albumtitel, der Spielkarte "Acht der
Kelche" und damit der Lebenssituation, in der sich Boeldt bei der Albumproduktion befand. Die "Acht der
Kelche" steht für Unklarheiten und Opferbereitschaft: Auch wenn man sich noch nicht darüber im Klaren ist,
wohin der Weg führen wird, lohnt es sich, diesen zu gehen, denn am Ende des Tunnels kommt das Licht ...
Für den Hörer bedeutet das, mit relativ inkohärenten Sounds konfrontiert zu werden. Die sind mal
wunderschön klar, dann hyperaktiv, und zuletzt total chaotisch - hier wird so ziemlich jede Stimmung
abgedeckt, die man sich vorstellen kann. Ihren Ursprung haben seine Sounds in alten VHS-Kassetten mit
Anime-, Horror-, Sci-Fi- und Dokumentarfilmen, die Boeldt exzessiv sampelte und digitalisierte. Am Ende
standen ihm Hunderte Samples zur Verfügung, die er zu letztlich acht Stücken arrangierte.

Life on the Inside is the audio companion (created and recorded in 2015) to the french sculptor Pierre Besson's exhbition (D'objets noires et de Choses carrées - Black Objects and Square Things).
Never published before, this more than 30 minutes long musical ambient track (divided in 2 parts here) was diffused inside of the sculpture. This album is an excellent addition to the David Toop discography of any wide-ranging ambient fan.

The Boston based ensemble Ehnahre has been pioneering an effort to rethink and redefine what metal and extreme music can be, since their debut release in 2008- to equal parts acclaim and condemnation for their sins against the tradition. Their upcoming release, 'Douve', pushes things even farther into the muddy perimeter, incorporating elements of contemporary classical music, serialism, free improvisation, aleatory, free meter, noise and other experimental techniques.
An 18 part cycle based on poet Yves Bonnefoy's "Theatre", the record is a window into the distressed mind of a man as he observes the death and decay of his metaphorical beloved, the "watcher of the cold secret". Employing a dizzying variety of timbres, instruments, moods and stylistic homages, the album ranges from the delicate shimmer of piano overtones to full-bore metal howl, its emotional intensity only overcome by the density of its harmonies. Sometimes beautiful, frequently disgusting, "Douve" is not only an aural narrative, but a display of the group's radical evolution. It is sure to shock the uninitiated, challenge the extreme music veteran, and cement Ehnahre's status as the most forward thinking metal band on the planet... The newcomer to the A-Z of instruments of Le Millipede is the clarinet. Together with Le Millipede's characteristic percussion, it sets the basic structure of "Neue Welt". Two melodies of piano and bass trumpet join in to a euphoric, dreamy tune, only to be shaken up profoundly - or should we say challenged - by the second debuting instrument, a ukulele.
Lenity is melancholic and brisk, hymnic and susurrant, heartfelt and effusive, intimate, lush, sad and exuberant, passionate and serene. Or maybe just gentle and playful.

Returning home after the acclaimed Holding EP and the highly regarded Clap! Clap! Remix, Lurka continues with his journey into sonic bat country. Partials kicks off with Lurka's typical intrigue, pads swell with distant spectres of percussion build into the most saturated kick of the year slapping you in the face like wet rag, while an architecture of syncopated hats and bit crunching snares lock the angles a shower of haunting bells falls. Dancehall for witching hour. Mach steps in with an equally holo-deck soundscape. Drums swing in awkward alliance with dry wooden blocks and woozy binary language. Both tracks united in their skewed viewpoint and distinctive awkward funk.
Two Variations marks the return to Umor Rex of the Los Angeles based musician & producer M. Geddes Gengras, following his two volumes of "Collected Works" from 2013 and 2014. The two pieces here are the result of Gengras' continuous exercises and obsession with his modular synthesizer, —technique apart—, "Two Variations" is a new statement, the reinforcement of MGG's prowess in this area, and how through these machines, he is able to build harmonic music pieces, contours between the electronic collage and concrete music.
The first side of this tape is an edit of the first two run-throughs of a patch that I had been conceptualizing for a while before I majorly rearranged my system to accommodate this obsession. Four voltage-controlled oscillators (Make Noise Music STOs) are controlled by the output of a four-stage shift register (synthtech e102) which takes a single sequence of voltages and distributes them (in the style of a round) across the four voices. The e102 is being fed a long sequence from an Antimatter Audio Brainseed. A single clock controls the sequence speed, the shift register's 'action', and a gate sequencer (Noise Engineering Zularic Repetitor operating in a probability mode) which in turn activates four AD envelopes (Intellijel Quadra) to open the four channels of a Make Noise Quad Multi-Mode Gates module which is mixing the four voices of the VCOs. The 'delay' in the shift register (essentially how many clock pulses it takes for a note to advance to the next output) is modulated by random voltage from a Make Noise Wogglebug. The end result is two pairs of marimba mallets attached to a pair of dice. The b-side is a soundboard recording of a performance utilizing this patch, among others, from the same period.

Avoiding recognizable melodies and creating some of the harshest, visceral noise pieces imaginable, RVNES creates an exceptional and bewildering piece of underground art. An aural map of desecrated topography, More Bites is a discordant experiment perfectly suited to tape.

Split album of the Berlin based artists Shapes a.k.a. Niklas Dommaschk (member of Phantom Horse) and Oliver Koch as Melfi.
There's some peculiar mutuality in the works of Melfi and Shapes that add an unexpected kind of conceptuality to that split tape on hand. Both artists work with machines that are older than themselves, and it is obvious that their approach alleges some kind of antiqueness that sets the listener on the wrong track. There's an inheritable sadness to all of these tracks, friendly and compelling in the same way, and there's a vision of dusty, blurry glances of reclusive silence. These tracks transport an evidence of sound and melody as fundaments for themselves - sometimes krauty, old-fashioned in some way, making the synth a speaker. The kosmische road is only seen as a signpost, and the drunken comets still dither above your heads and ears and in your brain: This is a tape you should listen to while being alone or broke or drunk, and you know why.

Re:collecting is the first collaborative album of Steven Hess (member of Locrian, Cleared, Pan- American, Haptic, and Innode) and Rutger Zuydervelt (also known as Machinefabriek).
Over that past years, Steven Hess has recorded piles of cassettes on an old four-track and classroom desktop tape players, going through a chain of pedals and loopers and then back into the cassette recorders again. Besides his usual drum kit and cymbals, the sound sources include guitar, bass, AM/FM radio chatter and wood floors. After sifting through the big archive of recordings made over the years, he sent the best material to his collaborator. Rutger Zuydervelt further processed these recordings, keeping the mysterious murkiness intact, but subtly adding extra sounds, creating a complex palette of textures, and working on an overall structure. Despite their dark nature, there's openness to interpretation and an appealing seduction. The tracks on Re:collecting are different 'states' or 'environments', converted in fascinating ambient/drone and minimalistic songs.

Longstanding Belgian chamber rockers and avant-garde pioneers led by drummer/composer Daniel Denis, Univers Zero was formed in 1974 with co-composer and guitarist Roger Trigaux (who left the band in 1980). This is their first album recorded between the 2nd and the 5th of August 1977.

The split LP is a time honored tradition in the realm of underground musics, one which has often signified an artistic and personal kinship between the participating parties. Such is the case with this split album between Mamiffer and Oakeater, to which both contribute lengthy side-long tracks. Having played numerous shows together in various forms, collabortaed live as well as in the studio, Oakeater and Mamiffer embody the idea of musical comminity, sharing an affinity for musical explorations into the murkier regions of emotionally driven sound and song craft.
Oakeater's contribution to this split follows the trajectory previously estblished by the Chicago based group since their formation in 2006, fitting together elements of ritual ambience, cavernous drones and abstracted black metal. With 'Iron Road II' they manage once again to construct a deeply affecting and clearly articulated song from seemingly nebulous sounds and materials. Over the course of 18 minutes tones generated by guitar, crackling synths and percussion collide with washes of whispering vocal howls and cyclic minor key figures to create true night time music.
Working as the sole operator in Mamiffer on this particular release, founding member Faith Coloccia makes use of heavily saturated guitar tones as the base element from which the track here is constructed. While most material on past releases has centered around acoustic and electric piano as the focal instruments, the use of guitar reveals the same core aspects that have defined Mamiffer - a great sensitivty for the emotional impact of sound, the use of sonic textures to form musical narrative, with a clearly intuitive and focused approach that manages to defy easy categorization. Though 'Fake Witch' is abrasive on the surface level, deeper listening reveals ghostly beauty balanced with a palpable sense of ecstatic consciousness.

Zu beiden Songs sind auf der Single auch die Instrumentals enthalten, denn auch ohne Text kann man in diese musikalischen Gewässer tief eintauchen.

Heavy, reverberating drones and bleak orchestral passages form the soundtrack to the independent, silent film The Roman. Æmaeth is the project of Owen Pegg (A-Sun Amissa / Hundred Year Old Man) and The Roman is his latest piece of film scoring. Pegg has also recently composed scores for The Raindance 10 minute short 2014 winner Man Can and Raindance 2015 'Dark Wave' entry To Catch A Butterfly."
The Roman's 60 minute journey is dissected into 10 pieces and the stark atmosphere remains throughout, with fleeting moments of hope and light emerging from time to time. It's an altogether immersive experience, and one that works equally with or without the accompanying film and imagery. The bone-chilling soundscapes move almost in slow-motion, the claustrophobic tones are bordering on suffocating at times, but there is always sweet relief close at hand; a break in clouds and a crack of light for company.
The record started life as a series of improvised drones and motifs played on guitar and piano to rough cuts of scenes during the film's post production. At this point the production was unravelling the story and, as edits were made and initial cuts started to filter through, the rough improvisations began to find their place within the context of the film. This process allowed for the gradual addition of further instrumentation and players as a 'building-block' process, where the mood and requirements for each scene dictated the direction of every movement. This allowed each piece to develop independently while simultaneously maintaining and even revisiting sounds over and over, creating themes for characters and a memory of the path already travelled. This idea is typified by the recurring saw-like bowed guitar which repeatedly breaks through, reminding us of what follows the two companions - death.
Upon completion of the film, and its premiere on May 10th 2014, work began to piece the score together into a cohesive album in its own right. Further studio time was logged with long standing friend and collaborator Richard Knox (A-Sun Amissa / Shield Patterns / The Rustle of the Stars / Glissando) to hone and polish the individual musical 'scenes' into a flowing album that seamlessly moves between the delicate structured melodies and dense uneasy drones.
This record forms the first release in Gizeh Records' new 'Dark Peak' series, a collection of limited CD editions, housed in special hand-crafted packaging, designed and assembled at Gizeh HQ.

'Stop Out' is echo chamber business and sees an extreme head nodding bassline combine with a crunchy crisp amen. Militant beats for the dancefloor.
Last but not least Digital completes this release showing his versatility with a dubstep uk steppers style riddim, lower tempo but still high on vibes, 'Culture' completes our trilogy of dubwise vibes for your sound system, heavyweight bassline business for your head and your feet!
