Well, here it is, the arrival of the debut album release by Peterlicker

Let there be darkness. Limited to 500 copies these might be the last available of the 2006-released debut EP of Pik1, also known under his Xbron-moniker or as the founder of the horror-influenced Breakcore-imprint Crop Circles Industries. With seven tracks on this EP the French producer explores heavily chopped Breakcore-attacks, DarkJungle on hyperspeed as well as brutal, super heavy Industrial Drum'n'Bass.

Energetic drums and soundscapes are the order of the day with the opener. The track has the hallmarks that you would come to expect of a SCAR track. Gut wrenching bass and drums.

*Runaway
Aggressive tech step vibes, Runaway is 1998 brought up bang up to date. Bass stabs against lashing drums keep the whole track as lively as possible.

One of the two vocal tracks on the EP is shadows, No u turn drums with a vocal that brings the right level of emotion to proceedings

SFX What the FX
SFX is the musical triumvirate consisting of its mebers Jammin Unit, Data J. Cranky and Das Ministerium, a mysterious hyperintellectual collective focusing on hissing, bass heavy musings, warped soundscapes, chirping effects, merciless (self)sampling and meta connectivity as well as error friendliness and indulging intransigence.

With their first album - Can't Get Enough SFX are about to unleash a beast, a clear statement of musical non-music that combines glam and trash, uberly sterile digital bleeps as well as warm analogue tones alike. Calibre (aka Dominick Martin) needs no introduction. Having been one of the most prolific and consistent artists within the drum and bass scene over the last 15 years, he's graced the catalogues of many labels; including Exit Records, Soul:r and countless others.
His first solo album, the highly acclaimed 'Musique Concrete' on Fabio's Creative Source was released in 2001 and was followed
by nine more on his own imprint Signature Records. Releasing two further albums of downtempo electronica under the Dominick
Martin moniker, Calibre has proved time and time again that his musical talent knows no bounds.
Here we have his 'Strumpet ' EP, in which once again he showcases his seemingly effortless productions that engage the listener throughout, accompanied by a groove and emotion that simply cannot be matched.
As with most of his releases, Calibre also made his own artwork, which gives the EP a unique visual identity to accompany the music.

This LP is a documentation of the very first meeting of Stuttgart-based minimalist Jazz duo Fifty-Fifty & Swabian sound exploration society Metabolismus. All players draw from decades of experience with different forms of improvisation, using instrumental and electronic sounds known and unknown, to spontaneously create an aural environment of complex simplicity. A wide spectrum of group mind expressions can be heard, from the purely abstract to moments of calm reflection. The title is a meditation on the idea of the impossible, beautifully represented by these words from Alexander Pope:

"Mad Mathesis alone was unconfined,
Too mad for mere material chains to bind,
Now to pure space lifts her ecstatic stare,
Now, running round the circle, finds it square."

The session was recorded during one afternoon in the Summer of 2012 at Sumsilobatem Sound Studio on magnetic tape, any technical imperfections due to the spontaneous nature of the situation were kept in as part of the document. No digital technology was used in the making of this album.

As a programmer, he's produced innovative music generation tools such as the Diamond Arpeggiator. He returns to his own music with this collection of challenging and transporting structures.A

""Wild Metals"" sounds like ferns and orchids infiltrating a tableaux of black plastic electronics, the breed of black plastic that Russo and Wyatt both found sinisterly inserted into the grid of their childhood. It provided the skin for some of their favorite toys, and its general resonance was aligned with the fast cars, women, and architecture that dominated their imaginations.

SBTRKT himself released his second album 'Wonder Where We Land' in September and is currently taking his acclaimed live show around the world.

Recent Young Turks signing 'Quirke' released his 'Acid Beth' EP in May. The EP is an insight into the world of Josh Quirke, a London based producer making music that could only exist in the current generation of genre confused electronica.

2014 also marked the return of Jamie xx. The producer released two limited edition singles 'All Under One Roof Raving' and the AA-side 'Girl' / 'Sleepsound'. As well as working on new music with both The xx and his own solo album, Jamie spent much of 2014 playing shows around the world and last month picked up a Q Award for Best Video for 'Girl'.

Lastly, 2014 saw the meteoric rise of FKA twigs. The much talked about singer, producer and director is currently in the middle of her largest tour to date, playing shows across the UK, Europe and North America. Since its release in August, her debut album 'LP1' has received worldwide critical acclaim and was one of twelve albums to make the shortlist for the 2014 Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize.

There is quite some mystery surrounding this 'new' producer. Even us at PRSPCT HQ have no idea who he is and where he is from. He has chosen to keep his identity secret to the world. Kind of like Batman but instead of fighting bad people this vigilante's goal is to terrorize the world with pure Audio Violence. 4/4, Acid, Gabber DnB designed to torture the average mainstream music listener.

Max Guld was a post-punk musician from Glostrup, Denmark. 'For Enden Af Corridoren' was written, produced, recorded and performed by Max without the involvement of any others. Influenced by the avant-garde electronic sounds of Brian Eno and Kraftwerk, Max created eerie synthesizer driven songs with intricate guitar work and mechanical vocals. More than half of the album are instrumentals. All songs were recorded using a borrowed Moog Prodigy, Roland Organ/Strings, Korg KPR-77 rhythm machine, Gibson Les Paul De Luxe and a Rickenbacker bass. A spring reverb from a TV was also used and an old reel to reel for effects like echo. No sequencer, equalizer or noise reduction was used.

Aufgenommen wurde die Platte in Los Angeles und im Heimstudio der Band in Norwegen. Nach den etwas pompöseren Werken "One Armed Bandit" und "Live with the Britten Sinfonia" begibt sich "Starfire" auf experimentelleres Terrain und ist bestimmt durch die Arbeit im Studio, wo jedem Song verschiedenste klangliche Nuancen beigemischt wurden. Der Sound von Marcus Forsgrens Gitarre spielt auf "Starfire" eine ebenso prominente Rolle, wie der Einsatz von elektronischeren Klängen - das macht es zu dem am wenigsten jazzigen Album von Jaga Jazzist. So färbt Gastmusiker Leon Dewan den Song "Shinkansen" mit seinem Swarmatron, einem analogen Synthesizer, und auch Lars Horntveths Pocket-Piano-Synthesizer hat großen Anteil an den kantigeren, elektronischeren Sounds auf "Starfire". Die Live-Qualitäten der Band runden das Ganze ab und machen "Starfire" zu einem wunderschönen, tiefgründigen, absolut berauschenden Album, das einen in andere Sphären katapultiert. Es ist ein in seiner Struktur komplexes, musikalisch sehr reichhaltiges Werk, dem es jedoch zu keiner Zeit an Sinnlichkeit oder menschlichem Mitgefühl mangelt. Es könnte Jaga Jazzists Meisterwerk sein.

* James Boyle AKA Breakage is UK sound system culture's dark magus, shape shifting through the submarine pathways of the British 'ardcore continuum, master of tension and chest rattling sonic frequencies.

* In 2014 after a break of 4 years, this notoriously reclusive perfectionist is ready to give a new album to the world - namely album # 3 'When The Night Comes'.

* The albums comes off the back of singles 'Treading Water', 'Future' and album free grat 'Revelation' - all of which has received Radio 1 support from Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Toddla T and more.

* His last record 2012's 'Foundation' created both a Top 40 hit with Jess Mills and 'Fighting Fire' and a certified grime classic when Newham General's jumped on an instrumental to make the thuggish 'Hard'.

* The unmistakable Breakage sound was forged in the 'scenius' innovations of the sweaty, dark spaces of drum'n'bass and dubstep. It's full of Industrial timbre's, dancing between tension and release, Lover's Rock for a dystopian future. * James route started with lauded drum'n'nbass releases on key labels early 00s labels Bassbin, Reinforced, Critical Recordings. 12's like his remix of Equinox's 'Acid Rain' for the Inperspective label saw him push the Amen break as far as it could go, reintroducing the jungle toughness, that reinvigorated that scene. By his debut album 'This To Shall Pass' in 2006 he had started to experiment with slower tempos, In 2007 he signed with Shy FX's Digital Soundboy label and made waves in dubstep clubs with atmospheric half tempo releases like 'Clarendon b/w Shroud.' His sophomore release for Shy Fx in 2010 'Foundation' was a national break through moment. Especially when Jess Mill's dramatic 'Fighting Fire' unexpectedly hit the Top 40. It was the best sort of authentic pop, the most sub heavy, futuristic, British-born thing on the FM dial.

* His way into music began as a rock obsessed teen, accepted into music sixth form college on the strength of his virtuoso guitar playing, a Jimi Hendrix wannabe. Music was omnipresent, growing up in a busy, noisy household: his sister was a reggae lover, his dad played rock, and his Jamaican mum was heavily into country and western - plus he had a foster-brother who was seriously into rave-era dance music. That was all around thanks to living in Buckingham; a key node in the London orbital rave scene - always within reach of pirate radio signals, so hardcore was in the air and young James absorbed it happily.

* The music that he first really adopted as 'his' however, was hard and heavy rock. 'As soon as puberty hit,' he says, 'it was Zeppelin, Metallica, Beatles, Anthrax, Pink Floyd'. Arriving at his new music school though, he was seduced back to the darkside of rave music. 'People I met would go 'oh are you into jungle',' he remembers, 'and I wouldn't have a clue, but pretty quickly I started listening to things like One Nation tape packs, and that was it.' He jumped in at the deep end at 15, going to a Slammin' Vinyl rave at the notorious Bagleys, Kings Cross: 'It was basically the best night ever, even though it was a total calamity because I managed to fall asleep at Kings Cross bus depot at 6am and had to get my dad to pick me up!' Programming beats become a full on obsession and his guitar was all but forgotten. He released 12's of his own and used to sit in classes 'thinking why am I listening to this guy going on when I already know I can do what's needed to make a record'

* 'When the Night Comes' is completely rooted in the thousands of hours of club time that James has put in, with a sense of space, groove and direct physical chest rattling impact that come direct from soundsystem culture - but it is also about the entirety of his life. It may not be a rock record but it has rock's dark intensity and virtuosity, not to mention love songs that would fit the most Gothic Country & Western tales..
* It brings in ambient, UK garage, soul, house, Industrial electro into its palette, and has the confidence to build from chilled and chilly atmospheres into high dance floor drama. 'When The Night Comes', no one channels it's blackness like Breakage.

Long Arm follows up 'The Branches' from 2012 ! Every new experience lets him grow as a person and also expands his knowledge of the world that surrounds him. His young mind is sometimes blurrying the lines between imagination and reality, dreaming and being awake, reality and fantasy. Making sense of this world in its very own unique way, his world is filled with fantastic and surreal magical creatures and quirky characters. Over the course of the ten songs many different little adventures unfold and await the young boy, slowly building his character while he explores nature in all its varieties and learns to appreciate it. He lives through new emotions and gets to learn about his own feelings during the process. The title track 'Kellion' represents the very inner world of the kid - it is his cocoon where he can always return to and be safe after his journeys and adventures. 'Kellion' is the story of a young boy who was born into a mysterious world he explores with his curious eyes, ears and hands.  I was trying to live his life with him together and feel what he felt. I tried to understand and recollect what it feels like as a little boy walking around in this big world. I attempted to see the world through his eyes, to experience his fears and happiness and in doing that, just helping him to be a kid.' - Long Arm.

"UNLIMITED" is the series of compilation signed by KAY RUSH for years select the coolest music for all fans of the genre soulful & deep house. Comes the seventeenth volume of Unlimited, obviously double cd. On the cover is the same as always Kay, for years historical soul and voice of Radio Montecarlo, which transmits daily from 17:00 to 19:00 "Kay Is In The Air". Shipwrec continues to carve out its own sonic universe with this new EP from a mysterious Detroit outfit, The Valley And The Mountain (aka TVTM). The identities behind TVTM remain unknown, but they have released on Belgium's cult label WeMe and in 2013 surfaced with their Assembly Required EP. Across five cuts here they explore crunchy, richly musical ambient, electro and slo-mo techno. First is 'Uncharted Systems', a slow and meandering cut full of atmosphere and metallic synths. Acid lines, lazy claps and smeared pads all add to the sense of drama and its fair to say this is a hugely unique sounding track. 'Detxploit' then picks up the pace with tough arps, chattering clap and filtered vocal musings that walkabout Detroit as the tension builds and the electro vibes grow stronger. 'Chasing Magnetic Particles' is then a beatless, abstract bit of futuristic synth work with twinkles, breaking wave like sounds, pained lines and undulating modulations all stretching out for the duration. 'Rockfall' is a serene and bittersweet affair with crunchy drums, poignant, cutting chords and gurgling synths, a rusty coloured soundscape that makes you feel and think as much as dance. Lastly, 'Outer Reaches' is a downbeat brew of slapping drums and apocalyptic dark disco moods that, like the EP overall, is woozy and intoxicating.

An overview through the electronic music for imaginary movies and hypnagogic lucid dreams: from opening to credits, from ambient/drone to modern-classical via the jazz-rock, dub, electronica and sonorizations-themes, with a collaboration with 291out a jazz fusion band/collective focused on O.S.T and instrumental landscapes

Whilst the murky four-track cassette sound and dirty analogue textures are still very much in place, keen ears might spot a subtle change in emphasis. There are less of the radiophonic sci-fi sounds, ancient drum machines and none of the post-punk bass or guitar. Instead, Nick Edwards mainly focuses on invoking a blurry, saturated false-memory of the leftfield electronica that was the soundtrack to his life in the early to mid-1990s.As the album title suggests, "Reflekzionz" is a record that unapologetically dwells on past experiences, like flicking through an old album of bleached-out photos from days gone by, and on tracks like "Downtone", with its extended, unchanging groove and wash of muted, untethered synth melody, the aim is to invite the listener to join in a state of reverie. "Midnight Cliffs" and "Saturation (Full Rinse)" are unabashed homages to the artists who inspired Edwards, but always with enough production twists and turns to ensure the results are never simply a facsimile of the originals. Opening track "A Caustic Romance" could almost be a lost AFX beat but adds a touch of hand-played naive melody that brings to mind mid-seventies Cluster, blending different eras in a lo-fi melting pot.Elsewhere there are other influences on display. "Quakers Road Skank" sounds like Raymond Scott jamming with Lee Perry at the Black Ark "Repeater (How Did It Feel)" tips its hat to the work of indie-psych gods Spacemen 3, whilst "Seduktion" adds a touch of Kraftwerk-like metallic sheen. But as with practically all Ekoplekz records, the unifying factor is the primitive dubwise production, heavy on the filtering, echo and equalisation, never more apparent than on "Dubnium 268" where heavy layers of drone and melody crash and burn along an unstable rhythmic path. The album closes with the gentle, woozy atmosphere of "Day In May", where fragile, muted melodies drift in and out of sync on a bed of corroded drum machine, fading into the distance like a half-remembered dream - the perfect finish to an hour spent in the company of Nick Edwards at his most 'reflective'.

S.T. Files is a name that requires no introduction. One half of the magic duo alongside Marcus Intalex & he dates way back to 1993 under his different guises. Quite possibly our favourite producer here at Ingredients, so we're absolutely delighted to see this 12' in the catalogue. Both these tracks were written with oldskool mate Dj Response, 'Nailbomb' harks back to 1996 'Speed' vibes but it's almighty bass drop makes this far from a mellow roller. 'Hard Times' is a more chilled affair, soft vocal touches, dubbed out effects and smooth bass notes roll effortlessly.

'Beacons' EP, the debut release on Tru Thoughts from rising producer Werkha, who was snapped up by the label in late 2013 having been championed by Quantic and Gilles Peterson. In another gold seal of approval from on high, Werkha has just been confirmed as the support act for Bonobo on the leftfield luminary's European Tour.

Darkel is the solo project of Jean-Benoît Dunckel, who is also known as half of the french duo AIR. His first solo album came out in 2006, at the same time as Charlotte Gainsbourg's '5:55' album that he produced alongside with his acolyte from AIR.

As well as participating to mythical soundtracks with AIR (Virgin Suicides, Lost In Translation, Marie Antoinette, Quartier Lointain, Pioneer...), Jean-Benoît composed the score of 'Bee', 'Je M'Appelle Hmm', and also the quirky film 'Cyprien' but always in a very organic and solar electronic spirit. Recently, Jean-Benoît finished the soundtrack of the film 'L'été de Sangailé' by Alanté Kavaïté, to be released in July 2015.

Exit Records bring a new project to the table with a collaboration between Consequence and Joe Seven. Consequence made his debut on Exit in 2009 with his highly acclaimed album 'Live For Never' capturing the attention of electronica fans world-wide with his organic and unique take on Drum n Bass. Also having been a staple part of the Autonomic camp since day one, he's slowly but surely developing his sound and delving deeper into the unknown. This time he teams up with another new Exit artist Joe Seven (who has an imminent solo single) and together they have created the They Live alias to showcase what happens when these two minds meet in the studio.The album is very much intended to be listened to in the order it has been presented, as a whole body of music meant to capture your senses and lead you across a soundscape of atmospheres, textures, differing tempos and a variety of percussion elements.In the same way as a silent movie can stimulate your sense of hearing, Cancel Standard does the opposite like an imageless movie, giving you the soundtrack and letting you imagine your own visual elements. "Adult is the final installment in the Weevil Series, a series of three anonymous 12-inches featuring industrial techno-inspired dubstep and drum & bass cuts. The limited edition hand-stamped vinyls give out little information, containing a weevil stamp but no track names, artist listings or other details. Adult is aptly titled, easily the most mature of the series and a fitting culmination. The aesthetics are the same as before, big soundscapes and a dark and brooding vibe that slowly builds a sense of mechanical funk. Adult is perhaps the installment least likely to shake up dance floors but makes for the most detailed and rewarding listening experience. A1 is a minimalistic low key number, a slow pulsing beat slowly builds underneath an atmosphere of drone, crackle and hiss that ebbs and flows until segueing nicely into the next track. On A2 the vibes slowly changes: A tick-tock beat plays throughout the track, sounding like a robot call-to-arms upon which raspy ringing effects emerge with a looming metallic bassline bubbling underneath. The track has a tension that is never quite released. While it's a seemingly efficient DJ tool, it's also impressive in its own right. Turning to the flip, B1 is a slow, brooding breaky affair. Dark, unintelligible vocals are set against brighter chords and what sounds like bird chirps, all sitting on top of a foundation of big bass. For our fourth release of the season we have a collaboration EP by Dubit, co-founder & owner of Several Reasons alongside the extremely talented dutch man, Reggy Van Oers. This collab delivers a fusion of experimental future grooves with mysterious atmospheres and psychoacoustic approach which will tingle the senses. The first track B.S. keeps a steady mysterious atmosphere with slow evolving off-beat groove. The next track, Planeti, takes a much deeper approach with an experimental twist. The mood throughout the track can feel to change and evolve giving the feeling of the constant attempt to reach the unreachable.

On the B-side we choose to demonstrate how the inspiration from the A-side can influence a diversity of styles. We start off with a man that needs no introductions, Giorgio Gigli, who delivers a superb remix of B.S. by maintaining the original mood of the track and injecting some serious deep driving techno action. The remix is deep, atmospheric and hypnotic with subtle yet
impactful changes throughout. Last but not least we have co-founders & owners of Several Reasons, Mynude. This remix starts off with an alternative experimental approach only to finally reach a series of alternating climaxes. The mood throughout seems to change and move from an almost melancholic setting to a driving machine-like environment.

We're over the moon to present the vinyl debut of Elysia Crampton with 'Moth / Lake' thru Boomkat Editions.
Formerly known by the moniker, E + E, this single marks the first chapter of her Shenandoah series, a concept work that explores Virginian American history and brownness beyond culture, as geology - as mud, dirt, and mineral.' Breaking with the artist's highly influential and formerly sample-rich arrangements, the material on both sides is entirely, uniquely original. With the breathtaking transevangelistic comedy, 'Moth', written for and featuring the compelling vocal of Money Allah, Elysia pays tribute to legendary Afro-American comedians Stepin Fetchit and Bert Williams against a sweeping backdrop of vapourous synths and strings perhaps best compared, in terms of sonics, with the deep synthetic topographies of TCF and Arca (or is it the other way around). In the most striking sense, it's a song that will stick with you long, long after it's finished. The immersive instrumental B-side, 'Lake', is Elysia's version of a Bolivian Saya, a work song/dance style which can trace its roots back to the original mixture of Andean and African traditions during the first days of slavery in South America, and also makes reference to John Bunyan's 17th C religious text, 'Pilgrim's Progress' and the railroad path near the Shenandoah Mountains, Virginia, where the piece's crepsucular patina of field recordings were sourced. Quite simply, it's a hugely recommended record from a genuinely exceptional and incisive artist.

Initial copies on Green and White Vinyl, mastered and cut by Matt Colton, includes an instant download of the album dropped into your account* Mica Levi more or less owned 2014 with the release of that astonishing soundtrack to Jonathan Glazer's 'Under the Skin', followed by this hour long album-cum-mixtape for Demdike Stare's DDS imprint which was released at the end of the year and sold out in a flash. It has now been reworked for this vinyl edition, and then given a full remaster by Matt Colton. Mica is an artist who basically seems to channel attention deficit into exploring and re-shaping a myriad musical ideas and directions without bound - sometimes all at once. She's an artist who has by her mid-20's merged the disciplines of codeine-laced cough syrup-drankin' early '90s Houston HipHop legend DJ Screw, with the rarified sound of London Sinfonietta on her incredible 'Chopped & Screwed' album, got Matthew Herbert to produce her brilliant debut 'Jewellery' and acquire Bjork as a fan in the process. She's produced a bunch of killer, off-beat pop tracks for up- and-comer Tirzah and supplied an impromptu 30 minute Boiler Room set that's still for our money one of the best they've ever put up. And yeah, that's before that 'Under The Skin' soundtrack that showcased another side to her production altogether - all discordant, intense, Ligeti-influenced strings, muffled percussion and frozen drones that came off like a feverishly dreamt collaboration between David Lynch and Nate Young. When asked about the score and working with someone as high profile as Jonathan Glazer she told Pitchfork 'He's a nice bloke—I certainly didn't think he was a wanker.' - which basically tells you that you ain't dealing with the ordinary or conventional when it comes to anything Micachu is involved with. And this hour-long session is perhaps the best thing we've heard from her yet. More or less split into three seamless segments referenced in the title, it journeys out from tense, concrete-fuelled strings to brilliantly ramshackle tape beats and odd pop edits - all brand new work from Mica herself, spooled through her singular, totally inimitable box of tricks. Honestly, we can't think of any contemporary artists who have as broad and limitless an ability to continuously re-contextualise the familiar into something we've really never heard before. We'd have to go as far back as Prince or Arthur Russell to reference anyone who has really managed to tap into as many diverse musical disciplines with this much originality. And if you think that's a bit far fetched - give this a listen and knock yourself out.

Since the release of his second album Eleven in 2012 ( Stunning' - Dazed & Confused, Brilliant' - NME), Mr Fogg has continued to tread an unconventional path. In 2014 he spent several months working behind the scenes on the evelopment of Thom Yorke's BitTorrent experiment, recorded a duet with the singing comet 67P and unveiled a previously unheard collaboration with Under The Skin composer Micachu.

* Basement Phil's history is a long one with, starting before the rave scene emerged and Phils passion for music was growing ever stronger, his main passions were Northern Soul, Jazz, Disco, Funk & Electronica. It was during these years that Phil first started Djing in local clubs in his home town Camberley at clubs such as Pantiles & Ragamuffins. As the music scene started to get stale after the disco years, Phil's ears picked up on a new style of music coming through, Electro Funk & House music, or Garage as it was first named. As this style of music started to dominate his DJ set's and the older record scene's seemed to lose their lustre, House & Techno from Detroit and Chicago consumed all of Phil's spare time, so it's not surprising where his passion and knowledge of music would lead him on an exciting path for the next 25 years of his life.
* In 1987 Phil opened the 'Record Basement' with Partner and Soul DJ Pete Sinclair. The two of them quickly built up a reputation for the Rare Groove records they sold as well as the US House and Techno imports, by 1989 the shop was dominated by the new sound of Rave and the shops reputation had grown to such, that the elite DJs of the time were finding there way to the new store to find the hottest pieces of wax, including the likes of Loftgroover, Micky Finn, Top Buzz, Bukem, Fabio, Grooverider, Kenny Ken, Easygroove, Carl Cox, Swane, Phantasy and many others.
* It was at this time Phil was aching to try his hands at making a record. So he put together a couple of bootleg remixes, got them released and to a good response. So with this new confidence Phil produced his first release with local artists Atom, who included Tom 'Chemical Brothers' Rowlands, the track becoming a hit and was taken further with a deal for Tom and Brendan aka 'Atom' with 'Eastern Bloc' and the guys renamed themselves 'Ariel'. Phil then went on and produced his first two EPs which received rave reviews and were released on his now Legendary label 'Basement Records'.
* A friend and customer from the store DJ KGB Kev Bird, handed Phil a release for the new label followed by Loftgroover, it was through these two friends that Phil got to meet the legendary Jack Smooth aka Ron Wells. After their first meeting their mutual love for the same music led to the release of the first 'Rush Til Dawn' EP on the label, but more important was Ron agreed to produce for the label, this partnership led to the release of a stunning collection of some of the finest Rave Tunes from this era, the rest they say is history. Phil also launched sub label 'Homegrown'. During these early years Phil recorded as Basement Phil and in projects with Jack Smooth under the names, Jack n Phil, and the Beatmen.
* By 1992 Phil was starting to lose his enthusiasm for the music and the scene itself and decided to stop selling Hardcore and Jungle through his company 'Vinyl Distribution', instead, Phil would put all of his energy into this new sound of music called Drum & Bass. It was at this time that Phil launched sublabels 'Street Beats', 'Precious Material' & Mystic Moods .
* LTJ Bukem, a regular at the shop had made a mix tape for Phil, and on this tape was the game changer 'Demons Theme' which became the start of Good Looking Records.
* 2015 and Phil is back at work relaunching his record labels and the motivation to get back into the studio and produce music once again, the result is this new album from Basement Phil called 'Past, Present & Future'. on the relaunched 'Basement Records' label. This album contains unreleased Basement mixes, unreleased remixes, and a new selection of DnB, Techno, Old Skool and House tracks and features artists Jack Smooth, Wendy, Shadow Cartel, MC Mad P (Top Buzz), MC Wong, LTJ Bukem & Tom Rowlands (Chemical Brothers)..

The second release on FTD is also the second release of Lisbon based production trio Niagara. Although they haven't released a record since 'Ouro Oeste' dropped on Príncipe back in 2013, their signature sound has travelled through many different guises. Recall/Wiretap, from Manchester's Alex Coulton, follows on from his stark, atmospheric contribution to the recent Tempa Allstars Vol. 7 compilation.

Across acclaimed 12's for labels including Livity Sound, Black Acre and Mistry, in recent years Coulton has honed an ultra stripped-back, rhythm-driven aesthetic that refracts techno through a sub-heavy sound system prism. This makes him a natural ally for Tempa, which has always focused on music that draws maximum club impact from a bare handful of elements.

Both tracks on Coulton's Tempa 12' roll out around hypnotic, sidewinding rhythms, packing intense, percussive energy for peak-time 'floors. 'Recall' is a gradually unfurling firestorm of distorted kickdrums, reverb and molten sub-bass, which repeatedly dies away to near-silence before returning with twice the impact. On the flip, 'Wiretap' is lighter but no less intense: a whirling assembly of drums, warping bass and freakily catchy struck melodies that's as tough yet elastic as tensile steel.

Stratford-raised Denai Moore signed to London independent label, Because Music (Metronomy, Little Dragon, Django Django...) and then Ben Drew was in touch; he'd heard a couple of Denai's songs and wanted to work with her on production, eventually producing The Lake EP in 2013 (he's since signed her to his publishing company.). A much vaunted solo spot on the BBC's Later... with Jools Holland followed, Denai commanding a grand piano under the studio spotlight. 'This girl's really special!' remarked a YouTube commenter days later. Special indeed. To discuss influences is to give very little indication of what route Denai was to take or indeed has ultimately taken. She's as passionate about the music of Joey Bada$$ and Tinashe as she is of Bon Iver, Kendrick Lamar, and Foals. Raury's music excites her, whilst James Vincent McMorrow contributed to a track on her 'I Swore' EP. Denai's cover of Band of Horses' 'Part One' was heard by the band and her version re-recorded by them. At the tail-end of last year, it came as little surprise that Denai's distinctive soul voice could be heard on SBTRKT's acclaimed 2014 album, on the track 'The Light', which she co-wrote with him. Denai recently completed a UK and European tour in support of and in collaboration with him. Fresh from those album sessions, the captivating 'I Swore EP' drew 2014 to a melodic close and gave a hint as to what's to come. Denai (aided solely by piano) performed a live session on Huw Stephens Radio 1 show at the tail end of the year, whilst the EP's title track was lauded as BBC Introducing Track of the Week on 1Xtra.

Ben Zimmerman's The Baltika Years is a collection of recordings created between 1992 and 2002 mostly using a Tandy DeskMate.When Ben solicited the recordings to Software in 2013, we were taken aback by how personal the music felt considering the palette used. It was like reading an abstract diary. The clues into Ben's world are so stark and strange that they feel like monuments.Reducing Zimmerman's prolific output down to four album sides was a challenge. Much like the myth of the process-oriented painter in his prime, you get the sense that Zimmerman is subconsciously actualizing an artistic scenario that he may or may not be privy to.When The Baltika Years is absorbed as a canon of work, a super-effect emerges which bonds all of his output. This is somewhat represented in the way we assembled the anthology, focusing on certain stylistic epochs that Zimmerman moved through over a decade of solitary experimenting and obsessing. In many ways, The Baltika Years embodies the spirit of Software. It articulates a belief that idiosyncrasy is inevitable, and that human affect and technology are linked. One helps the other express something mysterious about the world. Via limiting himself to one very specific instrument, Ben realized his own style -- a monochromatic computer music that glows with the intimacy found in life's barely audible sentiments, curios, and details.

With White Raven, Pheek continues his explorations into electronic spaces both cavernous and microscopic. Composed of the flotsam and jetsam of synthesizers stored underground in a secret cave for techno spelunkers, White Raven is an exploration into spaced-out sound that is as alien as it is mental. Minimalist rhythms of microsonic particulates appear and disappear in silence and echo; synthesizers hum and disintegrate; dissipations of static agglomerate themselves into robotic assemblages; controlled bursts of feedback romp and resonate against sliding musical scales. Once again, Pheek defies current crazes. Though working with the methods of modular synthesis, his sound cannot be classified alongside the retro-analog composition found in its adherents. Even as his work embraces the raw and improvised beauty of a machinic set-up, it plunges into territory that remains devoid of the usual referents, as if an artificial intelligence had taken hold, trying to communicate through the revival of ancient futurisms and lost secret technologies. The traditions that Pheek finds himself within are lustrious indeed - his work stands alongside the last remaining tapes of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, as if they had been reworked by an interstellar force, invading the alien and Afrofuturist body of the Time Traveller, Jeff Mills. Inspired by their American adventure, Prinzhorn Dance School brought the recording process in from the cold of the red shed to the heart of their everyday lives.Played and recorded on the move between different flats in Brighton and Hove, then wheeled around town on a hard drive wrapped in a sleeping bag in a specially-adapted suitcase, 'Home Economics' gave them an escape route from 'that frustration you feel when you spend days trying to recapture the intimacy of a particular moment,' Tobin Prinz remembers. 'This time we could just use the original take, so sometimes these songs are almost like field recordings.'

Second track Drive makes us think of an unwillingly beautiful and violent tramaccident. Chaotic supreme confidence is what follows through the album. Pure organic uncompromising energy. It´s time to get down to the source for some excperience!

Copenhagen-based label Music For Dreams are proud to present the new single from Danish duo Visti & Meyland. Written and produced during winter in a remote forest cottage in the far north of Denmark, the two songs included here represent the pair's current state of mind. 'Open Your Arms' conveys the simple idea of openness - a desire to open your eyes, open your arms and carry on, despite the hardships in the way. The production is driven by a very catchy bassline, acoustic drums, mixed with analogue synths, arpeggiated swirls, vocals, piano stabs and a c-part reminiscent of 70s progrock - a funky track for the Balearic brigade. The next track Hand In Hand' started out as a homage to a Visti & Meyland favourite - 60's cult-icon Bob Lind - but took a completely different turn than originally intended and evolved into a beautiful love/relationship song with a summerish yet melancholic sound. Opening with vocals, gradually introducing slow vocoder beats, hand played analogue arpeggios, old-school picked bass and one-take improvised vocals, the track culminates in a piano potpourri of recent Visti & Meyland compositions. Remix duties go to Manchester DJ and production extraordinaire Be Garth Be who delivers a classic Chicago house-influenced dubbed out version of "Open Your Arms". Another strong package from the label that carries the Balearic flag in 2015.

With Zane Lowe pedestalling the first glimpse into Bensley's diverse soundscape, 'Fandango' was a precursor for this forthcoming debut. 'Next Generation' is a bold move; with drum & bass being a genre which has certainly stood the test of time, newcomers have incredibly big shoes to fill. However, Bensley incorporates an innovative and incredibly intricate set of production skills to hold a title of his own.

But what can you expect from an artist who was signed after sending a single demo to revered label head Andy C. That's despite having no previous releases or having any other music available to stream online. He was somewhat of a mystery.

'Fandango' was that track. And it was premiered as a world exclusive on leading tastemaker Radio1, which followed with support from the likes of Mistajam on 1xtra, as well as DJs on both Kiss and XFM. Already demonstrating his widespread appeal with just one track, his air of mystery is now about to be broken. He's definitely an anomaly; being only nineteen and having impressed so many people.

'Next Generation' is a 10-track journey through an impressively diverse soundscape. Whether it's half-time breakdowns or the incorporation if cross genre-pollination it shows an astounding ability which will not go unrecognised.
From the opening bars of 'Wildfire', to the softly spoken pads and atmospheric note arpeggios of 'Rain Dance', then wrapped up by aptly named closing track 'Aftermath', there's no denying Bensley's masterful artistry.

Title-track 'Next Generation' leads you by the hand with snippets of humanistic sample, flowing in and out of its construct. It's built upon by striking note progressions, a relaying of patterns which chop and change the mix. Carefully placed subs add impact, with emphasis given on each break, carrying the track forward down a steep drop with each slab of bass.

Drawing together a dizzying and fresh array of new sounds, this album indicates why Bensley is a forerunner within the new generation of music comers. Its representative of the fast paced technological setting of music production he grew up around; it also proves that Bensley is able to tap into dimensions which are often unheard of in other bodies of work.

Across six tracks, taken as a seamlessly flowing continuous play or brief individual mood pieces, the EP traverses a range of electronic touchstones, driven by a frenzied, insulated energy. Instrumental hip hop brushes up against echoes of industrial, rave and noise, expressive ambient soundscapes and a cut-up approach to synth and sample work.

SOUR released "I Don't Mind" featuring Elisabeth Troy and "Loggi's Life" featuring Viveen Wray as a single in 1995 and 4 other tracks appeared on various SOUR compilations worldwide, SOUR Cream, Junglism, Jungle Fever and the legendary Jungle Mania compilations, before the Album was licensed to London Records for a tidy sum. London records then sent Viveen and Loggi into the deepest darkest depth of the music industry jungle and till this day never released any of the music. Many blue moons later, Loggi managed to find the Bongo Natty river and made his escape back to reality to tell the tale.

The Dubdadda, or Jono as he is known throughout the reggae world, is one of the mainstays of the UK reggae scene. Hailing from Manchester he was a founder member of the renowned Community Charge - the best homegrown reggae talent in the UK in their era. After the demise of this band the Dubdadda was instrumental in forming Nucleus Roots alongside other former members of the Community Charge line-up.

In 2001 Dubdadda joined Zion Train vocal section and started to work on his debut album.

'Lo-Fi Pon De Hi-Fi' was originally released in 2004 on his own label Dub Hooligan Records and distributed worldwide through Universal Egg Records. During the past decade he toured the world with Zion Train as their main vocalist and released some quality tunes including 'Boxes and Amps' or 'Terror Talk', mainly on the Universal Egg sublabel Deep Root.
