Next Phase Records present the second volume of the Wound Up Beat Tape series showcasing experimental downtempo music from around the world. This limited edition cassette and digital release features 11 exclusive tracks ranging from instrumental hip hop to jazz fuelled break beat.
Like the rst volume it's aim is to deliver a unique and personal auditory experience stretching an array of BPM's. This adventurous approach to compilations is reminiscent of classic Mo Wax albums that remain a constant source of inspiration for producers today.

With 'What's Going On', Electronic Emergencies turns back the clock to 1993. By then, Dutch brothers The R had made a name for themselves with releases like 'Rave the Planet' on legendary proto techno label ESP, and the four previously unreleased tracks on 'What's Going On' were also created during the heyday of Dutch pre-trance techno house.

City Slang is very proud to announce the Sympathy for the Auto Industry Remixes by Berlins analog techno prodigies FJAAK (50Weapons/ Monkeytown), which is an Electronic music trio from Berlin and probably the only Techno-Boyband worldwide. Having grown up together, they began to create all types of music made with microphones, guitars and drums in a dark, chaotic and dirty cellar at quite an early age. After getting in touch with the berlin-underground-techno-scene, days and nights started being all about music. Whether it was chopping beats on the mpc in the morning hours or studying manuals, the internet, vinyl stores and Schneiders Buero. In 2014 they signed to 50WEAPONS and have since released 3 captivating and very fresh sounding techno EPs. Modeselektor have hot tipped them to be the next big thing, because of their unique, melodic and high quality style of producing. HeCTA is the brainchild of Kurt Wagner, Ryan Norris and Scott Martin of Lambchop. Exploring and experimenting with the idea of combining the notion of 'song", elements from electronic music and a shared love of the electronic form and it's many permutations, HeCTA and the album The Diet does not sound like anything these guys have done before.

Correspondant mainstay, Man Power, returns with his first artist EP for the label since his debut, the "Kiloton EP" back in 2014.
A lot has changed for the artist since Kiloton, with 2015 seeing the release of his self titled Album (also via Correspondant) which not only gained an unprecedented 10/10 in Mixmag, but was also named as one of the Electronic albums of the year by iTunes US.
Additionally, the last year has seen the artist DJ around the world, release original material and remixes for numerous labels, and was capped by his being named as one of XLR8R's best new artists of 2015.
The "Planet Cock EP" represents some of Man Power's most dance-floor directed work to date, veering from the arpeggiated big room techno-funk of "Stunt Cock", to the stuttering analogue stomping of "The Temple", and rounded off by some breaked-up-neo-electro-with-a-middle-eastern-twist () as displayed on "Pig Baron

The title track features Boston based female singer songwriter Saucy Lady (well known for hit singles 'Touch It Rahaan Remix' and 'On The Floor').
Disco Town U-key "Do The Right Thing" puts a neo soul re twist on the title track by Japan's hot producer Yuki Monolog.
The EP contains both "Instrumental" and "Raw Vocal" mixes of down tempo, funk groover "Losing Streak" and a crossover into a more raw form of Tom's funk comes by way of the guitar driven and funky keys of "Live it Up".

* It's great to think of John Graham, aka Skanna, rummaging around cupboards in his parents house to find the DATs of his early releases to make this release possible. It was also great to find out that digital degridation had not taken hold on these 20 year old DATs too!
* So here we have another classic Skanna release from 1995 that has been remastered and reissued in an effort to make some classic tracks available again at a reasonable price. Although this record has not commanded such high prices as other releases in the catalogue it has always been tricky to track one down in good condition as the ones out there have all been played to death, and rightly so! The original 'Find Me' and the "Classic Skanna Mix" are both on here and sounding incredible over 20 years later!

With "Songs For William 3" Ulrich Troyer presents the final part of his experimental dub trilogy. The hand-drawn bonus track is entitled "William - The Seven Year Itch". A comic novel narrating the story of a breakup from the perspective of a stomp box called William and a MS-20 filter clone named Charlotte.

The music of the album is oscillating between euphoria and depression - fascinating with hypnotic lines and solos played by various analogue and modular synthesizers, stomp boxes and effect units, recharged by sprinkles of guitars, melodica, talk box & vocoder. All ingredients are rooted in a massive and warm bass fundament and refined with forward thinking dub excursions. This time the project was not only supervised but also co-produced by Kassian Troyer (Dial). His crucial ears and suggestions and the final Stem-Mastering were significantly responsible for the unique overall sound character of the climax of this experimental dub trilogy.

The hypnotic opening track At Muff's Place arrives melancholic and introverted, evoking smoked out nights and all night long connections. Back On The Market with it's skanking offbeat chords and the charming vocoder line, lifts the mood of the album towards euphoria - William seems to be dating again. The irresistible groove of Dark Roots makes a deadlock impossible. Megalomaniac Microsynth slows down the tempo of the album and gives space to inventive future dub treatment. The catchy 8-bit & cyber-horn driven track Horny Chiptunes picks up the pace again. The journey continues with a G-Funk-feel infected track entitled Cruising Down The Belt featuring a talk box and an alpha juno synth strings line - perfect for playing on car sound systems while driving aimlessly through the city. The backlash of depression hits again: I Miss Your Noise is heavily featuring a paraphonic MS-20 and culminating into a big shoegazing Kraut-Dub drone. Alone On A Crowded Bus forms the sad and disturbing, but nonetheless beautiful end of this unique and fascinating journey.

After establishing his unique voice on our SOMEWHERE01 compilation, Kiani & His legion is back on Something Happening Somewhere to expand his vision. He has gathered his own sonic palette to transform the underlying consciousness. Being alone with the self, it may seem one's own mind is the only one certain to exist. Not sure if you're the one who's watching from the ground or hanging upside down, the peaks secretly form a unity beyond their separateness.
Air Chrysalis is based around a stomping 808 beat, forming the basis of the vehicle trough which we begin our experience. The metamorphosis slowly commences when dystopian chords and pads uncover monolithic structures floating in mid air. Introducing further elements and a hypnotic skippy bass pattern along the way, it's certain there's no way back now. Giving an energetic punch to the ears, you slowly get sucked into the future sci-fi world Kiani & Hes legion has created for us.
Voigt Kampff takes us further into the cocoon. An epic eight minute anthem that celebrates the transformation, uncovering the veil of what's beneath. The melody slowly grows, rattles and opens up into an ear blistering eruption that will surely devastate some dance floors. It sounds both effortless and musical, an outspoken and intricately woven pattern of vibrations.
Electric takes a dirty and stretchy jungle break and combines it with some of the characteristic elements he introduced before while adding organic layers of marimba and a heartwarming voice to preserve that human touch.
On the B side we also find the majestic Fatima Yamaha remixing Electric, in which he twists the original into a ten minute long hymn that seems to keep building on forever. Starting out with a bad ass synth line, and adding a beautiful haunting and melancholic melody occasionally interrupted by a huge verberated kick. Another victory for the heart and mind.

Another classic reissue from the back catalogue of White House Records. With amazing new artwork by Robin from Stay On Target this latest reissue on White House Records really stands out. Another classic from Skanna from the early days of this seminal Jungle label.

André Hommen and Gerd Janson have remixed Tensnake's 'The Walk / Keep On Talking'. Forthcoming on Tensnake's own label True Romance, TREP010 'The Walk / Keep on Talking' Remixes will be available on both digital and vinyl from the 14th December. It's arguably the label's biggest remix package since Duke Dumont and Ewan Pearson remixed 'Love Sublime'. The Pete Tong approved André Hommen - also the creative producer and label manager of Dennis Ferrer's Objektivity imprint - has remixed 'The Walk' on the A-side. A deep, minimalistic beat drives his remix and a smart breakdown introduces the melody from Tensnake's original, pushing all the original elements to higher heights. 'Running Back' label boss Gerd Janson's 'Keep On Talking' RAW mix is set against powerful drums and acid-tinged synths, with a piano-led breakdown echoing the original melody. The Panorama Bar resident and celebrated producer delivers a unique cut formed of several retro influences to provide a cool new twist on Tensnake's upbeat original. The vinyl release also include's Gerd's beats-only version in the 'Gerd Janson RAW beats mix".

This release sees Mark Archer raiding the Altern8 vaults to find previously unreleased material he produced in 1992 under his DJ Nex moniker, and pairing it with a new track he's written specially for the release. Limited to only 500 copies on vinyl - not available on any other format.

Biog: Mark Archer crashed into the UK charts in 1991 with Altern8's hardcore anthems Infiltrate 202 and Activ-8 (Come With Me). Since then he released further hits both in the clubs and in the charts (both as one half of Altern8 and in his later projects like Slo Moshun), put out a genuinely solid rave full-length in 'Full On... Mask Hysteria', masterminded some ridiculous press campaigns, and donned the now-iconic RAF chemical warfare suits and dust mask for Altern8's performances. Recently, Archer's music was back in the UK charts, hitting #33 off the back of a campaign to get Altern8's Activ-8 to Christmas number one. He's recently released on Balkan Vinyl and Substance Audio, headlined Moondance Festival this year, DJed at Bestival and other festivals, and sold out shows in the UK and abroad.

Zerolex is born in 2011 - being a prolific producer, he had formed a duet with Superpoze and in 2012 has joined Cotton Claw. In the mean time, he was also perfecting his own productions. Fed by black music and by hip-hop, the 23-year old producer hailing from Besançon, France has dug into the world of beatmaking before broadening his horizon to electronic music. Inveterate and passionate digger, he got into Dorian Concept, Dimlite, Flying Lotus and many more. But Zerolex has also grown up thanks to fated encounters - he met Zo aKa La Chauve- Souris, Lilea Narrative and Yoggy One, who became his first influences into the electronic scene. That being prior he joins them on stage under the moniker Cotton Claw. The Cotton Claw experience has thus enabled him to explore new musical fields and experiment more. After three EP - Floating in solo (Eklektik, 2013), Dusted with Cotton Claw (Cascade Records, 2014), Eclipse in collaboration with Holy Two (Cascade Records, 2014), the Volutes album (Cascade Records, 2015) and Elusive EP (Cascade Records, 2016) with Cotton Claw, Zerolex gets back to work with his debut album M.I.LD - set to be released this fall. M.I.L.D is more electronic and the textures are as multiple as Zerolex's inspirations. All composed on MPC, the trackson the album mixes samples, retro synths and contemporary beats. M.I.L.D gives way to personal productions - a reflection of his unique universe - setting a new etheral direction, where sparkling and melodic sounds get along future beats.

Just Another Beat welcomes the enigmatic Berlin-based artist Rising Sun to its slowly but steady growing camp of artists.

Over the course of his more recent releases, Rising Sun has been focusing more and more on one his biggest musical love affairs: breakbeats. - Lament might very well be the best and most gripping result of this excursion yet. Driven by the iconic Amen Break, Rising Sun adds his trademark chords and melodies to the mix, turning - Lament into a moody, yet euphoric anthem.

Long-time friend of both Rising Sun and Just Another Beat Sven Weisemann, carefully deconstructs the sheer energy of the original tune and rebuilds it from the ground up, adding subtle hints of house music's heritage, combined with his constant strive for lush orchestration.

Silas Moldenhawer and Jonas Kenton, both children of the early 80s, grew up alongside each other in the tiny big city of Copenhagen. In their teenage years they discovered electronic music and this led them to start spinning records and producing tracks together. Years later they met two other talented musicians and formed well-establish Danish indie-electro outfit "When Saints Go Machine", but still kept on building Kenton Slash Demon as a separate project.
Now, four years after the release of their most recent EP Daemon, Danish production duo Kenton Slash Demon return with Skydancer, an immersive and intricate sonic interpretation of club culture that represents a new chapter and direction for the act. Skydancer I is a haunting 7-minute monster, with pitched vocals, industrial hats and a sinister central bass line. The second act, Skydancer II, provides a sunnier counterpoint with a nod to the UK rave scene with its broken drum patterns. This release represents the birth of WAA Industry, a new imprint helmed by KSD and visual artist The Emperor Of Antarctica. The label's Cleveland, Ohio ambassador has cut out any sentimentality and gone straight for the rave jugular with no concession to ascetic consistency, knocking up one of his fiercest examples of brutalist funk in the process It's Prostitutes' 3rd and most substantial release for Diagonal, a swaggering and unzipped affirmation of the styles on 2013s Shatter And Lose and Ecstasy, Crashing Beats And Fantasy from 2015, and clearly catches the label's close ally in the mood for getting wasted.Prostitutes' Dance Tracksz are skooled with the sort of street knowledge and bluntness that perhaps comes from life as a Technopunk in a blue collar industrial city such as Cleveland, OH: the bullish, PCP-style hardcore bookends of Ah Yeah and War Goes On say their piece in no uncertain terms, whilst Bottle spits pure industrial street funk and Prey deals in riot-inciting jungle-tekno.
Even the album's sole moment of sentimentality, I Luv U Bruv
- a gesture of affection for his label boss, Powell - is delivered with an acrid lash of electro-techno, but at least you know he means it. In a soundworld spoilt for choice, Prostitutes' refusal of shiny tricks is admirable and almost subversive in the face of hands-in-the-air breakdowns, but there's something about the way he wrenches out every last drop of rusty, jacking funk from his machines that leaves no doubt about Dance Tracksz
