IG Culture and Alex Phountzi are NameBrandSound and are back with their third EP on their own Arena Yard imprint. Known for their roles in the broken beat movement, NameBrandSound puts a nowadays take on a lifetime of different influences.

Their most comprehensive body of work today the seven track Spell T.H.I.S.O.N.E EP joins the dots between broken beat, juke, jazz, jungle and dancehall, from the grime jazz of Harvest Your Manor to the new school bruk style of Patience which features West London r'n'n sensation, Abel Miller, to the straight up juked style of the title track. Wah Wah 45s are very proud to announce their first foray into the format of the future-retro fan - the cassette. And who better to deliver our debut release on this cult medium, than our very own electronic beat makers and hip hop nerds, Paper Tiger. Over the last four years, the Leeds and London based crew have been quietly pasting together some of the more interesting and subversive off-cuts and live interludes that were recorded around their two LP releases.

In 2013 Paper Tiger released their long awaited debut album Laptop Suntan on Wah Wah 45s. After a collection of head-turning EPs, featuring collaborations with leftfield electronic and hip-hop artists including Foreign Beggars, Homeboy Sandman, Joshua Idehen, Archie Pelago and more, the time for their full-length project finally arrived. In order to whet the listener's appetite for this stunning debut long-player, Wah Wah 45s shared the first instalment of Sonic Boom Head Zoom, a glimpse of the full Paper Tiger live band in action. With hints of what you would experience on the record, plus exclusive bonus material, this twenty-minute live digital beat tape was by turns hypnotically head-nodding, experimental and downright hilarious (shout out to all Emmerdale lovers).

In the words of the band's electronics expert and woodwind player Greg Surmacz: "As we were completing our album, we came up with the idea of recording some live interludes - our live band set-up and instrumental recording/sampling are a big part of what we do and we wanted to give a proper nod to that on the record.

We set up in a studio without much of a plan and ended up recording a few hours of jamming - all live, all completely improvised on the fly. There was an abundance of material, some of which we will sample and develop into fully-fledged tunes, but we thought it'd be nice to compile a short mix-tape of some of the highlights. You can also hear the album's interludes in their original context."

In the autumn of 2013, the band went on to release a remix record, Sultan Ant Pop. As well as receiving contributions from some of their favourite producers (LV, Werkha, Murder He Wrote, Bambooman and more), they decided to record more brand new music to mould it into a coherent listening experience.

As a result, Sonic Boom Head Zoom 2 was born. Clocking in at over 30 minutes, it was a deeper, darker and weirder affair than its predecessor despite being produced in the same way - 100% live, totally improvised and recorded in a single day. There were head-nodding grooves, bizarre and hilarious rhymes from MC Raphael Attar, space-jazz excursions and much more.

After a short hiatus, in 2015 Paper Tiger began work on their second album, Blast Off. Having grown in confidence and stature as a live band, they were keen to fully integrate their live sound into the new record. They spent a day at their regular spot in Leeds, ATA Studios, and recorded over five hours' worth of ideas, sketches and improvisation.

They ended up with an abundance of material, some of which was incorporated into the sound of Blast Off. However, there was still plenty of music left over to compile a new entry in their live mix-tape series. Clocking in at around 30 minutes, Sonic Boom Head Zoom 3 retains the SBHZ premise - 100% live, totally improvised and recorded in a single day - but is more adventurous and diverse than ever. There's everything from Krautrock to neo-soul in there, non-sequiturs aplenty from MC Raphael Attar and the usual leftfield beat music.

In late 2015 Paper Tiger went back into the studio in order to capitalise on the creative momentum from the Blast Off project. As with previous sessions at their regular home of ATA Studios, there was a wealth of material generated from a single day of recording. Much of this provided the starting point for what will become their third album, due for release in 2018, but in anticipation of that they gave us Sonic Boom Head Zoom 4.

Like previous volumes, SBHZ4 is a beat tape made up of live jams, totally improvised and recorded in a single day. This latest set is stuffed full of head-nodding, off-kilter rap beats full of natural swing and groove that you only get with the tightest rhythm sections, pushed into left-field with squiggly synths, curveball sample choices and stoopid-smart similes from MC Raphael Attar. While more focused than the last edition, it's still not averse to the odd jazz freak-out. Just don't mention Whiplash...

The Sonic Boom Head Zoom double-cassette brings all four mix-tapes together on in one place for the first time and is released in limited numbers on November 10th 2017.

Split between London and Bristol label Oscilla Sound prepares its second release 'Perihelion' in the form of three leftfield tracks from Parisian producer E-Unity. Ben UFO, A Made Up Sound, Avalon Emerson, Simo Cell and Batu - are all early supporters of E-Unity's productions. Adamant to give this artist a platform, Joel Arcane connected with the exciting producer to sign him to the label - following up on Wilhelm's absorbing debut release. 'Perihelion' starts off with rattling minimal synths before engaging basslines join crystalline melodies to generate an otherworldly aesthetic. Filtering effects and crashing cymbals then forge 'Morty' as cosmic pads work underneath, making way for 'A Wormhole In The 4th Wall' and its vibrant foundation of organic drums and futuristic elements.

This latest 6-tracker from Ed & Tom Russell (known respectively for their solo Tessela and Truss projects) carries things forward from its predecessor in underscoring Overmono as a fully formed & ongoing project.

nstead of searching for commonalities between their earlier individual work, Overmono combines the Russells' artistic talents in order to reach the spaces between ambient, techno & UK hardcore dynamics that few current acts are capable of reaching. Born of the brothers' collective creative impulse and staking out its own defined place in the contemporary landscape of electronic music, Overmono are firmly amongst those pushing the form into new and exciting places.

All of this is now also being explored in a live setting. Having made their debut at Krakow's experimental electronic music festival, Unsound in October 2016, Overmono will be performing a number of live and DJ dates throughout 2017.

Shapeshifting through his vernacular worlds of sound and imagery, Milan artist and musician STILL (Simone Trabucchi)'s practice is defined by a unique, nomadic approach. Previously known as Dracula Lewis, a project developing his personal take on 'folk' music, he has accumulated a number of releases on various seminal labels, alongside running Hundebiss Records.

His new moniker, STILL, follows the unearthing of the histories that connect his hometown of Vernasca to Ethiopia and Jamaica, explored under his visual arts project Invernomuto as an in-depth fieldwork lead to 'Negus': a series of sculptures, installations, a book, and a long-feature experimental documentary, screened at Unsound 2016.

'Negus' revolves around a cleansing counter-ritual performed by Lee Scratch' Perry in the Vernasca square where 80 years earlier, an effigy of Haile Selassie I was burned. The documentary then follows a trajectory connecting Italy's overlooked colonial past seen through personal history to a reverberation of symbols in Ethiopia and Jamaica. Within STILL, he connects these research threads, evolving their sonic and linguistic aspects further, where 'computerized riddims' sustain a shared gospel channelled through a polyphony of voices.

Six Milan-based African-Italian vocalists and singers voice a complex, overarching past that is both communal and individual. Using the medium of language, the record is a multi-layered with meanings contemplating the historical weight of words. Both the city and the studio became workshops for the shaping of their complex network.

The release is mastered by Rashad Becker at D&M, featuring artwork by Invernomuto & Bill Kouligas.

Hailing from London, London Modular Alliance are a trio of modular enthusiasts, often performing live, completely on the fly using modular synths and live improvisation. Members include Koova , Yes Effect and Pip Williams , but on this new EP for Hypercolour , Pip Williams AKA Phil Venture strikes alone with four devastating cuts. With previous releases on UK techno label Brokntoys and the Kirk Degiorgio's Applied Rhythmic Technology (ART) label , LMA continue a fine run of releases with the 'Home Grown' EP . The production aesthetics across the four cuts are second to none; 'Civic Society' pairs up dark atmospherics and driving electro beats that furl into rolling breaks, whilst 'Home Grown' is a pacey and bustling burner. * 'Brokenchord is set to release his second LP Endless Transmissions via Bristol based label Black Acre on Friday 29th September.

* Ernestas Kaušylas aka Brokenchord is a music producer and composer born and raised in Utena, a small industrial town in Lithuania. Kaušylas was quickly picked up by Black Acre, releasing both a 7inch single and an EP, after an exclusive mix of his was aired on BBC Radio One's Experimental Showhosted Mary Anne Hobbs in 2010.

* Endless Transmissions is the brainchild of Kaušylas who single handily (bar two tracks) wrote and performed the entire album. The only collaboration was with jazz drummer, Augustas Baronas, who he encouraged to play as mechanically as possible. The LP pays homage to creativity and the ability to push the limits of technology with the physicalness of a human body. Kaušylas explains 'machines that mimic human grooves is boring but the other way around it becomes quiet interesting'.

* With nods to the likes of Bonobo, Radiohead and Illum Sphere within the LP, Brokenchord also has an exquisite cinematic quality to his production stating 'Endless Transmission is a movie painted with sound'.

* His previous accomplishments include; his track Lowe featuring in the Radiohead office chart in 2011, which received an invitation to remix Give up the Ghost, from frontman and personal hero Thom Yorke, which was included in the remix album compilation King of Limbs.

* n 2014, he composed music for Danish Theatre group Hotel Pro Forma spectacle, winning the prestigious Lithuanian Golden Cross Of Stage Theatre Award. Since then he has supported Bonobo's North Borders Tour in Latvia and Lithuania and radio hosts such as Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson and Stuart Maconie have aired his music.

* The talented polymath currently resides in The Hague while he finishes his Bachelor of Music studies at the Institute Of Sonology.'

CPU has been reticent in regards to remixes, with a grand total of zero during its first five years of existence. This all changes with this dedicated remix compilation celebrating the label's 5th anniversary. The exalted roster have chosen their favourite tracks to remix from the label's back catalogue and are brought together in a very special 2x12 gatefold sleeve.

B12, Jensen Interceptor and Morphology all make an appearance alongside some of the label's seldom seen artists. There is also a posthumous Microlith remix of Tryphème - Mélodramatique.

Stonedwave presents the latest EP offering from Jochen Heym, - Sonoaut on snow white vinyl limited to 300 copies. Bridging the gap between Hardcore, Drill and Bass and Braindance on tracks like Exit Vessel and Init Conversation the artist creates dadaistic piano arrangements that meet talking funk basslines while the tracks are still heavily rooted on the dance floor. Songs like Winterlicht and Unreachable connect the artwork taken by Icelandic Photographer Halldor Ingi to muted microtonal sounds and hypnotic piano loops . Inspired by his hiking trips to remote locations in northern Europe Jochen Heym started to invent his own microtonal tunings which can be heard throughout the whole release and define his personal unique sound character.

Establishing his style of writing electronic music and creating music with classical instruments in 2005 Jochen Heym kept on composing tracks on a daily basis of which a small exclusive selection can be heard on this record.

Expanding from 5.1 Surround Installations and orchestral recordings in Darmstadt / Germany the artists relocation to the city of Cologne also exposed his writing style to unusual tunings and ambient textures while still true to his roots in hardcore, breakcore and acid house. Artists like Miles Davis, Jacques Loussier are in the same way present in the music as more comtemporary composers like Aphex Twin, Stockhausen and Autechre.

Sononaut is the first installation of a series of releases where additional tracks will be selected from the vast archive the composer created during the last decade.

This second Disques Flegon recording is from Greita. After two initial tracks on the V.A. « Buffet Froid », the first and successful release of the French label, the parisian artist is back with his own EP « Faux Signal ».
The five tracks stand out blending the different inspirations that define the EP unique sound. From house to broken beat through Greita's love for Jazz Fusion and French library music, the piece travels with ease from contemporary dancefloors to cosy homes.

For the third installment of the FTP series, the tracks twist into darker genre territories. The compilation opens with Psygnosis, a nine minute acidic techno stormer beaming from the pineal gland of the reclusive New Zealand artist Matthew Brown. The track starts out with a simple hook, building intensity towards a crescendo of raining acid lines and 808 hi hats which resemble unsheathing swords, twisting form into hypnotizing insanity. On the B side, Draveng unleashes some comic mischief with Isogamous Skoliosapien, a frantic rave tune bursting out of the seams with jazzy drum hits and frantic chord stabs. It would be a good soundtrack for phantasms to dance to in a haunted place. Closing out the EP is the propulsive electro missile Nonstop, a track that whips into the air and spins like a jet powered boomerang. It is is the first release from the Finnish cyber-phreek Sansibar. Expect more to come from him in the very near future.

Raunachte huntsmen Die Wilde Jagd return to Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant. Previously spotted on the label's far-reaching 'Compilation 4' album earlier this year, the duo ride back into town with two more chilling tales.
Building on the immersive, otherworldly scenes they've painted on Bureau B - including last year's self-titled album - the duo, comprising Ralf Beck and Sebastian Lee Philipp, continue to paint lavish landscape scenery with thick oil paint synthesis
'Geisterfahrer' (translating to wrong-way driver or ghost driver) is all about the anticipation. The second those introductory cymbals splash and the sinewy synth bass texture start to loop there's an overwhelming sense of drama and suspense that pays off with every detailed ingredient.
We hurtle through the night to the sound of 'Drachenfels'. As its name suggests, it's a mountainous sonic hike which surges higher and higher into the clouds. Bar by bar, ripple by ripple the scenery and physicality grows with a sense of triumph as more elements are added. Reaching the summit the moment the beats finally kick in.
It's down to DFA's Factory Floor to close this vast atmospheric scene with a remix. And they do so with a beautifully blunt electro twist where chunky 909 drums punch a slo-mo break while immense dubby washes of drums scatter down across the analogue groove with a kilter-teasing defiance. A fittingly brazen contrast to the cinematica conjured by Beck and Philipp.

Hiroshima JAPAN based records label "Eurasian Suite" would be released their first 7inch 45 .

Koichi Ozaki who organized Eurasian Suite from 1990s has already released five 12inch records in Europe.

His songs often play in European radio program ( i.e. Gilles Peterson - BBC World Wide) and contained in European compilation CDs.

This 7inch record contains " Wayo Secchu " (means: the way in which Japanese style and Western style are blended together) Jazzy break beats and highly recommended for interlude for midnight.

With a new single just released ("Roadside"), accompanied by a groovy video, and a "Greatest Hits" album in the pipeline, it is time to look at Torpedo Boyz from a new perspective.

The Wisconsin-born, Portland-based artist continues his experimental excursions with new album 'Mechanism', following his critically acclaimed 'SPILLEDNOISE' EP in 2016 also released on Shadows' label, and his previous releases on Noh Life and Courteous Family.

'Mechanism' shows the unleashed talent of a musician influenced but unrestrained by IDM, jazz, and classical compositions. Across the 10 tracks Noer explores the futuristic realms of bass music, skillfully mining fragments of drum and bass, hip hop, and dubstep to weave into his sound excursions. The result is modernistic, high energy, and full of unique character.

After issuing some 200 or so tapes in the last five years, artist collective Ascetic House have finally deployed their first salvo of vinyl editions, now available in Europe for the first time.
