Beats Vinyl New Releases - News

Having dropped a tasty teaser a couple of weeks ago, Black Sun Empire fulfil their promise of delivering a brand new long player album project entitled 'The Wrong Room' that is sure to get pulses racing.

Black Sun Empire have been threatening an album of this calibre for a while, with a steady string of releases detailing their vision for the future and pushing them to the very top of the Drum & Bass pyramid. The wait is now over and all seems worth it, as we delve into 14 tracks of unrelenting artistry that bear all the hallmarks of Black Sun Empire's creativity, passion and desire, whilst being a benchmark for the rest of the scene to aspire to in 2017.

This is more than just a collection of tracks thrown together, but an expansive adventure through the many facets of Drum & Bass and its adjoining generic neighbours. From the Grime scene of the UK in Virus Syndicate to the fiery Hip Hop stylings of Dope D.O.D, Black Sun Empire have assembled a team of co-conspirators to imbue the collaborative tracks with an organic solidity that underpins the vibe and values of its creators. The same can be said for the straight up DnB dancefloor decimators, with Pythius, State Of Mind, Neonlight, Audio and Prolix all receiving honourable mentions and delivering some bone-crunching basslines to compliment the breaks.

Precision dubsteppin' drum & bass collides with tweaked IDM-techno and zero-gravity ambient.

ngredients Records are pleased to finally get the chance to release music by this drum & bass legend. Known for his classics alongside ST Files and as a solo artist, featuring on Metalheadz, 31 & his very own Soul:r imprint, to finally have his name in the recipe catalogue is something we will hold dear. Onto the music itself and it's A side 'Cabal' is a deep techno influenced roller, with crazy sub-lo bass and slick percussion work. Meanwhile 'Mud', with it's excellent arrangement, early 90's feel and distinct Intalex vibe is a straight up slice of drum & bass as it is meant to sound. Pressed to a limited amount of 400 full release promo copies, be sure to grab it while it's hot.

Classic drum & bass from 96.

No more than 30 Copies available Worldwide.

Highly limited 10" Dubplate with custom sleeve.
"With a raft of excellent music already accumulated, we move on to the penultimate release in our Project Mohawk series, with our 8th instalment only adding to the quality that has gone before. Odd Harmonics may be a new name to some, but being one quarter of the highly regarded G.H.O.S.T outfit should set the scene on what sort of EP you can expect. With the full crew on board for the retro Virus-Esque roller that is Orbiter, and our own label boss Tony Consort on collab duties for edgy & minimalistic Middle Ground, this release retains the funk and old skool production values that so many still crave in the drum & bass scene today. With a selection of tracks that fully hit the mark, yet each offering something a little different, Odd Harmonics lays down a marker as solo producer of note in his own right"

Following on from Medium's hugely successful 6th chapter in our Project Mohawk series, we waste no time gearing up for number 7, and make no mistake, it's one of the biggest. For the next instalment, we handed the creative reigns to Kaset. Already treasured as one of our brightest talents, he showcased his early abilities in the edm.com premiered 'Contour' from our Musical Currency Volume 3 compilation, but that alone was the briefest insight into what would follow. More a mini album than an EP, Kaset presents seven tracks of what we feel is his finest music to date. Each track stands up to objective scrutiny in its own right, but together they form a body of work that few can deny is seriously on point. This is an EP for the heads, the only punches it pulls are bass laden ones to the solar plexus. Those out looking for the freshest of deep beats, it's time to load up, you've just found them!

10" Dub Plate with DL info and competition entry
Here at Broken Audio we always strive to find innovative ways of offering quality music. Our recent Musical Currency USB Credit Card albums were received with widespread acclaim, flying off the shelves and setting the tone for us offering some substance to what can often seem a faceless digital music world.
But we now look to raise the bar even higher with our latest concept...'Project Mohawk' started out as a codename for a collection of tracks we'd signed from a select group of talented emerging artists, each with their own distinct sound and style of production. As the idea took shape, so the quantity and quality of the music grew, culminating in a commitment to nine separate EP releases. From that point forth our aim was to come up with a twist whereby each release could stand out in its own right, but also form a part of something bigger...
So along with the usual digital download components, each release will have its own limited edition lathe cut 10' vinyl dubplate featuring our two favourite tracks, lovingly presented in a hand made and numbered 'jigsaw of art' card sleeve. Collect all 9 dubplates and arrange the sleeves in a certain order to solve the puzzle and reveal a single larger image.
But it doesn't stop there...Those purchasing the vinyl will also get a selection of exclusive bonuses, such as a free WAV download of all tracks on the same release, plus bonus tracks that will not be made available on the digital release, and the odd Project Mohawk sticker thrown in for good measure. Without doubt, this is a unique musical compilation to be collected, enjoyed and treasured for many years to come.

Longtime friends and studio buddies, Digital and Outrage bring the "fun back" (Function & Backlash) with their new 10" white label project, supporting straight up street beats, bass and vibes!

'Hold your Colour' was originally released in July 2005 on Breakbeat Kaos and went on to gain Pendulum worldwide critical acclaim and festival headline slots..

2x12"
This new album is the product of a 2 year process. The LP reflects what I love about the diversity of drum & bass and all its sub genres as well as what I enjoy playing at clubs and festivals.

It was crucial to me that this new chapter was a step up in content, sound design and song writing which influenced the decision to include only solo material and even master it myself.

Manifest is Mefjus 2.0 Martin

Comes with a download card for the full album in 320 kbps MP3.

Lookin' at the cover artwork you can imagine what you are gonna get: 2 tracks that were originally from the 'Syncopated City' album from 2008. Just in time for the 10th anniversary of that album these two awesome tracks finally get their vinyl release, cause for some reason they didn't make it on the vinyl version of the album. We always thought that is a shame, cause 'outnumbered' is one of the strongest, if not the best track of the album. People who got the CD of the album probably already know that! London Elektricity was always vehicle for the twisted loungecore D&B creations of Hospital Records masterminds Tony Colman and Chris Goss. And also these 2 tracks fit perfectly into this description. The songs feature the incredible vocals of longtime LE collaborator (and award-winning Jazz Legend) Liane Carroll like you've never heard her before - haunting and suspicious, while the man himself Tony Colman adds his own vocals and adlibs throughout. So it's the first time these 2 fine tracks going to be pressed on wax! Band info: The oldskool classic 'Pull The Plug' was the first Long Player to bear the LE moniker, and was released to great critical acclaim in 1999. Tony took the LE mantle on solo around 2003 and released the seminal 'Billion Dollar Gravy' LP before the birth of the London Elektricity live show. Another classic album 'Power Ballads' and two live DVDs followed off the back of a hectic touring schedule. Having remixed the likes of Underworld, Nitin Sahwney and Hard Fi London Elektricity is a production force to be reckoned with - theoriginal exponent of 'fast soul music' Tony Colman manages to combine heartfelt soul, with a level of musical literacy and emotion unparalleled in Drum & Bass. In 2007, London Elektricity won the BBC 1Xtra Xtra Bass award for best live act.

Old school and Acid Jungle new label from Paris. A bloody powerfull dancefloor break on the A-side and a more mental stable loud sound on the flip ! MUST HAVE !

We are pleased to welcome Arkaik back to Dispatch for his 2nd release; the superb 'Timelapse EP', dropping on the main label this February.

Knife edge precision separates Arkaik from the crowd, with an unrivaled delivery in dark, stripped back beats and 'Timelapse' collates some of his best work to date.

Clinical bass stabs are rife throughout, with eerie atmospherics keeping the tension heightened as the Shanghai resident consolidates his unique dancefloor style.

With infectious grooves, techno inspired progression and sub pressure to test any soundsystem, 'Timelapse' is a testament to Arkaik's mastery of the minimal sound.

Dispatch Dubplate reaches a milestone 10th release this April, with Ukraine's finest; Dub Head.

Joining the elite series, reserved for only the most in demand, unreleased gems, it was only time before his superb talents would lead to a DISDUB release from the aptly name producer. Led by the mammoth 'Globular Cluster' (a heavily requested staple of DLR & Ant TC1 sets), #10 also features the dark, sinister 'Critical Mass', deep rolling progression in 'Orchestra Soul' and the thumping 'Little More' as an exclusive track, only available to vinyl buyers.

A limited run of 200 hand stamped and numbered heavyweight vinyl copies are available; do not sleep on these, as they will not be repressed.

* Two of the most refreshing artists in drum & bass today, Villem & McLeod deliver their LP vision on Spearhead Records. Having made waves throughout the scene in recent years with releases on a multitude of labels, their musicality mixed with dance floor flare sets the scene for the debut long player. Funky, introspective at times, the album travels across V&M's sound palette to create a beautifully crafted showcase that cements their status in 2018. * "We wrote the LP over a two year period of dramatic changes for us both, girlfriends, marriages, births, and deaths, it was this that fed back into the album. Us trying to navigate our way through life, using that as inspiration to complete a dream we'd always talked about. * Writing an album is a different challenge than writing singles or an EP, it takes you deeper into how we want our sound to be remembered, more thought of the overall aesthetic, and ultimately more satisfying once we had completed it." Villem & McLeod 2018

Label stalwart Jubei returns to the label alongside long term friend Tyrone for 'The Arcane EP'.

Taking its name from the club night where they first met, 'The Arcane EP' is partly a follow up to 2015's 'Out of Sight' with the duo now delivering a full 4 track collaborative release which has garnered support from Goldie to Chase & Status and Shy FX to Break, with loads more in between.

Jubei & Tyrone's concept for an EP was triggered by the creation of 'Stabs', which since its inception has undoubtedly become one of the most asked about Metalheadz tracks of recent times and was an obvious choice to headline an EP full of energy and accomplishment.

The repress will be packaged in an 8mm spine sleeve

The Fifth Column is a secretive resistance movement that strikes from within. This album is its manifesto.

From cavernous, tribal experiments in dub vernacular to tense, tweaked out soundscapes to glittering atmospheres refracted through sheets of furiously inventive amens, each of these sixteen tunes stands on its own merits while reflecting a different facet of our sound, never stuck in the past, never nostalgic for the sake of it, but staying true to the soundsystem roots of this music. Each one is an exact articulation of our collective identity.

We believe that every single one of these tunes channels the spirit of the original artform, and that every single one of the artists involved has put their own twist on the culture and built something that will stand the test of time.

Featuring: Ahmad & Akinsa, Dead Man's Chest & Sknjob, Digital, Double O, Forest Drive West, Greenleaf, Gremlinz & Jesta, Mantra, Nucleus, Outer Heaven, Rumbleton, Seba ft Bkackeye MC, Sully, Theory, The Untouchables, X Nation.

With Support from: OM Unit, Paradox, Barely Legal, Bailey, Rene LaVice, Fabio, Loxy, Flight, DJ Storm, J Kenzo, Spirit, Pessimist

Limited coloured vinyl: Solid blue, crystal clear & white mixed. Mutant cyber funk from the man behind Auxilliary, Symbol and one of the albums that has come to signify the Autonomic sound. 'Droids' follows 'Brainscan' perfectly. A muted power break jabs its way to the drop where it is joined by a writhing bassline, snippets of a classic break and signifying bleeps that mark this as the closest Drum and Bass can get to techno without a 4/4. The layers great techno music is known for are also taken care of here, with the power of every element wrung out to its true potential. 'Never Enough' is a drum workout of the highest order, with filters wrapping themselves around the twisting break edits, claps and steadying bassline. Vinyl buyers get an exclusive ambient piece ...sshhhhhhh. DJ Support from dBridge, Loxy, Consequence, Synkro, Indigo, Presha and many more.

Master of snare disaster "Limewax" strikes back hard again on this huge 4 track EP on PRSPCT. Delivering all things great this disturbed but brilliant producer has to offer. Drum & Bass for the freaks and outcasts that crave for more then just a rolling beat.
2 solo tracks + 2 collabs with the likes of L 33, Switch Technique, Dieselboy and Thrasher. Did we mention this release is huge Hell yeah we did! Well it's a good thing as its double huge anyway!

All Hail Limewax and HouJeKKMuil!

Lockjaw introduces his upcoming LP 'Human Research' with the release of the 'Human Research Sampler EP' on Locked Concept. A longtime curator of adroit, technical drum & bass through his Locked Concept imprint, Lockjaw now steps to the foreground, revealing four tracks from his forthcoming album that exemplify a continued dedication to this guiding principle, whilst displaying his expert abilities across an eclectic array of tracks that give a tantalizing taste of what is to come from the full LP.

The titular 'Human Research' opens with glistening chimes and a pensive drone, quickly joined by a wandering bassline that sweeps through the shadowy milieu of the track's opening, winding its way forwards amongst a series of increasingly sharp and distorted pulses towards the track's main section, where the combination is joined by a frantic drumbeat that rushes forwards with single minded determination.

'Without You' bears a tangible nostalgia, its opening drums carrying a classic, rave inspired piano riff and vocal reminiscent of an earlier era that reaches its climax amongst rising saw stabs, before locking into a dynamic bassline groove still rippling with the same jubilant energy introduced at the track's beginning.

'Velveteen' features the vocals of QUAILS, who provides an ethereal verse that daydreams about possible affection over soft, floating keys and a pulsating bassline, which drift aimlessly until the track grows with excitement in the second chorus amongst rising percussion & desirous guitar. 'Second Chance' considers the prospect of beginning again, as its sweeping pads grow from muted beginnings to produce an originally subdued drumbeat which exudes a humanizing growth in confidence that waxes as its complexity increases, with a rolling bass and stirring percussion introduced alongside wistful pads still wary from the outcome of the unspoken first attempt.

With the 'Human Research Sampler EP', Lockjaw, demonstrates in brief his unique ability to bestow deeply human qualities to his musical productions across a wide array of tones. In debuting these four sample tracks, he issues firm assurance that the forthcoming 'Human Research LP' will be no less mystifying as its researches the condition of humanity and the emotions most central to it.

* Alk-e-d is the first to get the 'Legacy' treatment on Kniteforce Records. One of the original KF crew, he has been with the label since 1991, and remains a fan favourite. The Legacy series is designed to showcase our most dedicated artists, those who have been with the label since the very early days. And if Kniteforce itself has a legacy, it is one where risks get taken and the love of good music is always at the front of our minds. This EP contains 4 remixes, and the highlight must be the first brand new remix in decades from legendary producer Sublove who went onto become huge with Way Out West. Sublove featured on the very first Kniteforce EP back in 1992, and was enticed to come back and make some old skool for the label as well as remixing Alk-e-d. And what a remix it is! Proper old skool with depth and class. Not only that, we have Darwin, one of the biggest names in the modern hardcore scene, Shadowplay, and Luna-C on remix duties too. All in all, this EP is stunning, and is nto to be missed.

Jude Greenaway joins Analogical Force with 'E.OneSeven EP'. Some might already know ScanOne from past releases on Combat Recordings and Yellow Machines. Intricate breakbeat treatments with crisp electronica melodic edits, twisted future hardcore and London-bred basslines...the sound of ScanOne in 2018. On the b-side the Conner brothers reappear after a long silence as Bitstream, to twist 'Re-Turn' into the darker dystopian side. Fans of solid underground music take note.

Integral Records proudly present the latest project from head honchos Artificial Intelligence. Introducing The Series --Season 1. Ricky Force makes a quickfire return to Repertoire after the success of Make It Right / Suburban Nights.
"Everything" is an apache-driven slow burner that moves through the gears into a euphoric breakdown. Hands in the air vibes.
"Special" is a no-nonsense amen track, the kind that Ricky does so well, built for the dance floor.
