Beats Vinyl New Releases - News

For his third full-length, enigmatic U.K. producer Zomby didn't cut any corners: With Love contains a staggering 33 tracks spread across two CDs, or three vinyl LPs

* Back in the early 90's Bay-B-Kane a young producer from East London released his debut EP on what would become one of the most respected and sought after labels in the Jungle scene. This release in particular was instrumental in developing the genre of "Jungle" that morphed into "Drum & Bass" over the next few years.

* This highly revered producer has work under numerous aliases over his 25 production career including Code K, Kid Thunder, Double T, Intelligent Junglist, Parallel. His tracks also appeared on seminal labels like White House Records, Kickin Records & more.

* Support for this legend from artists like Dj Hype, Mickey Finn, Gachet, LTJ Bukem, Slipmat, Ratty, Peshay, JJ Frost shows the high esteem in which this guy is held. This 2015 re-issue has been mastered & cut by Shane The Cutter and still sounds incredible 23 years later. This limited edition run is one of a handful of upcoming re-issues from Bay-B-Kane coming up. The original 1992 release goes for a small fortune 2nd hand and this re-issue will probably be doing the same in a couple of years too!

Digital (the man from Ipswich - FUNCTION/METALHEADZ...1995/2015...), the,'Godfather' of D&B engineered this epic dance floor smasher at his legendary studio, which can only be described as 'Mission Control'. HELLRAISER became an instant dance floor hit on its dubplate debut, when it went off 'Proper Naughty' during the mighty DJ Storm's set at METALHEADZ Vs EXIT night last November. Written at Horrific Studio's, London by J.Bionic & Horrific James, a car trip over to Ipswich for an all-nighter, & fitted with one of Digital's super 'turbo boost' junglistic amens.'Terminator' style uplifting intro pad's & 'Bell Tune' flavour triangle loops, bass to make you boogie & bleeps to make you shake; HELLRAISER has arrived!!!

Dimension is not wasting any time in 2015. Swiftly off the back of Beatport chart topper'Whip Slap' - one of the biggest underground tracks of the year so far - Dimension returns with brand new single 'Pull Me Under / Maschinen'.

'Pull Me Under', which features vocal talents of RAPHAELLA, was premiered by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 - shortly afterwards, UKF Drum & Bass supported the track online. The heavy industrial dancefloor sounding B-side, 'Maschinen', has been tearing down dancefloors for a few months now. 'Maschinen' received it's premiere by Frictionon BBC Radio 1.

Within 48 hours of release, it's predecessor, Whip Slap went straight in at #1 on the Beatport Drum & Bass Top 100 chart and remained there for well over a month - as well as peaking at #18 in the overall Beatport Top 100 - unheard of from a drum & bass production! Dimension is not a stranger to the top spot on Beatport, having reached #1 in the DnB chart a year earlier with club anthem 'Crowd Reaction'.

Further radio support has come from the likes of Annie Mac (Special Delivery), Danny Howard (where 'Love To Me' charted at #2 and 'Whip Slap' #3 in the Radio 1 Dance Chart), Zane Lowe, Friction, DJ Target, Annie Nightingale and many more, includingBBC 1Xtra Playlist slots with Whip Slap and Crowd Reaction.

MTA have just announced their newest signing, one of the hottest names in Drum & Bass, Dimension, with his brand new dance floor single 'Love To Me', out December 7th.

Lead track 'Love To Me' received it's world premiere by the UK's top tastemaker Annie Mac as a Special Delivery on her Friday night show on BBC Radio 1 at the weekend. With killer vocals over a frantic beat and undeniable energy, 'Love To Me' is guaranteed to fill floors and spark even more interest in the breakthrough producer. On the flip is 'Move Faster', a weighty DnB cut already receiving support from Wilkinson, Netsky and Friction to name a few.

London based Dimension has already had a massive year with the release of his biggest tune to date 'Crowd Reaction' reaching number 1 on Beatport's Drum & Bass chart and being playlisted on BBC Radio 1Xtra. His most recent remixes for Example, Maverick Sabre and MTA label bosses Chase & Status received plenty of air time on BBC Radio 1 from the likes of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Friction and Mistajam. As his production talent is taking off, so too is his DJing with stand-out sets at Global Gathering, Exit, Fabric and Amnesia this year.

With his recent success and the backing of the UK's leading names in dance music, big things are expected from Dimension on MTA Records.

Limited Edition, 2 x 12' Picture Disc packaged in a Gatefold sleeve with coloured inners

* With the first two volumes enlisting Icicle, Total Science, Fourward and Technimatic, Friction's 'Vs' EP series returns for a third instalment with another four of drum & bass' most coveted producers - Dimension, Prolix, Metrik and Ulterior Motive. Scheduled for release on April 26th (and on limited edition 2 x picture disc vinyl from May 18th) via Friction's iconic Shogun Audio label - itself a drum & bass institution - Vol.3 sees each go head-to-head with Friction across four club tracks of real ingenuity and power.

* Vol.3 is Friction's most expansive in the series yet and, like the two volumes before it, delivers on it's mission statement perfectly. This is vibrant, thoughtful drum & bass engineered at full-tilt - with one of the scene's greats at it's core.

* As we approach the warmer climes of 2015, Spectrasoul ready an enormous sunshine anthem in the making, taken from the fast approaching second album 'The Mistress'. With the previous single 'Always' having made its grand entrance as an Annie Mac Special Delivery on BBC Radio 1, this new slice of electronic summertime soul looks set to take the reins in style.

* 'Shelter' featuring the blissful lyrics of Lily McKenzie sees Spectrasoul stepping firmly into other musical territories for a beautifully melancholic slice of hazy, sundown listening. The perfect embodiment of the duo's current push towards more songwriting, 'Shelter' hits the spot perfectly.

* With remix duties handed to the Grammy nominated talents of Two Inch Punch, he turns in a magical take, bringing an even more ethereal and more leftfield slant to proceedings that's sure to find favour with more electronic music aficionados across the world.

* As if this weren't enough also included in the single package is a D&B VIP version by Spectrasoul themselves. Taking the track firmly into the main room, it's awash with pristine, clattering drums and classic Spectrasoul rib rattling bass, all the while retaining the intensely satisfying vocals that will stay in your head long after the record plays out.

"The DJ Producer" has been a guiding force in the UK Dance scene since he arrived into the stage back in 1992 with his legendary back2back set with techno god Tanith at Universe. His productions and DJing have been influential for a huge host of international artists. Though he is signed to one of Europes biggest Hardcore Techno agencies he regularly moves outside this sphere to show he is truly a master of all styles. "The Very Last Drop" is a full-on jungle hard hitter. Perfectly cut up and overdriven Amen breaks underpin this dance floor devastator of a track. On the flip side of this 12" comparative newcomer "Smyla" serves up another awesome slab of Jungle with incredible upfront production that maintains the old skool flavour. His previous release on Cyber Crunk, Mute:8 and Jungle Syndicate went down a storm. These 2 tracks make up another incredible release for Miike Teknoists label.

The reissue sees the unmixed disc replaced by a new unmixed one. The album's artwork was changed to credit Pendulum for mixing the album, which became notable for its controversy. In fact, shortly after the release, Rob Swire denounced on the Dogs On Acid forum that he did not know of the release, and did not give permission. This caused an uproar in the thread, many members believing that Fresh was capitalizing on the success of Hold Your Colour. The scandal eventually caused Pendulum to leave the label. Also, in Jungle Sound Gold, a mistake was made in the tracklist of Disc Two. The first track `Intro` `was actually``Masochist``, which made a whole shift in the song titles, making all of them wrong, and having ``Another Planet`` name as ``[Untitled Track]``. Moreover, Disc One was actually the mixed album by Pendulum while the Disc Two contained the unmixed tracks.

The last drum & bass edition in Fabric's ever-collectable, unstoppable Fabriclive mix series was exactly a year ago with Calyx & TeeBee. While the hugely influential London club usually serves up two, or sometimes three, a year, we've been seriously longed out in the last 12 months.... But now they're making up for lost time in a major way.

The team of Ed Rush & Optical unleashed upon the world an album, label, and audiological echo that would inspire thousands of producers and spawn an entire generation of artists. Their '98 debut album Wormhole changed drum and bass forever and is widely regarded as the best album of the genre. While both DJs have won widespread acclaim individually, it is commonly said that their best work is done together -- and never more so than when delivering their signature Virus sound direct to the dancefloor. Implicit with drum and bass at Fabric since year zero, Ed Rush & Optical at last step up to the FabricLive plate with a typically frenetic session. The mammoth 39-track mix is peppered with exclusives (Ed Rush & Optical's "The Host" and "The Turnover," Ed Rush's "Scarab VIP"), previously unreleased tracks (Signs's "Clockout" and "Acid Test," Optical & BTK's "Inside Out," De:tune's "Purge"), and brief journeys back in time (Ed Rush & Optical's "Watermelon" (1999), Konflict's "Messiah (Noisia Remix)" (2005), Ed Rush & Optical's "Chubrub" (2009), Audio's "Collision" (2010)), completing a relentless exhibition of drum and bass supremacy. Also includes tracks by Phace; State of Mind; Optiv & BTK; Noisia; Current Value; Black Sun Empire & State of Mind (including a track featuring PNC); June Miller & Mefjus; Dimension; Maztek & Grotesque remixed by Maztek; State of Mind, Mindscape & Jade; Mefjus; Neonlight & Wintermute; Noisia, Hybris & Mefjus; Hypoxia; Spor remixed by Calyx & TeeBee; DC Breaks; Misanthrop; Hybrid Minds feat. Tempza & Laurence Baker and remixed by Neonlight; The Qemists remixed by Spor; Mefjus & Misanthrop; and BTK, Maztek & Optiv. Packaged in bespoke slipcase containing die-embossed tin

After releasing his debut album on his own imprint Soulbros. Records back in 2012 Rowpieces now returns with a crackin' sophomore album on the ever expanding Fokuz Recordings.

Starting his career focussing on soulful drum & bass and having produced many releases for legendary labels such as V Records, Good Looking, Phuzion and ofcourse Fokuz Recordings, Paradigm Shift is a perfect manifestation of Rowpieces' influences and artistics views.

Paradigm Shift contains twelve tracks with that distinctive, soulful Rowpieces sound we love so much. Spread across various tempos featuring Pulsaar, P-Fine and Kryptomedic this album is shaping up to be his best work yet.

* After more than 25 years in dance music, Brazilian drum & bass pioneer DJ Marky has announced long-awaited debut artist album 'My Heroes' - scheduled for release in April this year.

* No stranger to success and an icon in his South American homeland, DJ Marky is an internationally renowned DJ and producer and label boss of his own Innerground Records imprint. Igniting dancefloors with with the same passion for music he first started producing with two decades ago, DJ Marky's compilations, mixes and remixes number over 100 - including edits for Everything But The Girl, Claude Van Stroke, Fatboy Slim and Deadmau5 - and it's high time he got to work creating an artist album.

* The album's lead single, 'Silly', sees a hazy, whimsical vocal layered over Marky's signature acoustics and relaxed Brazilian groove - a playful introduction with a hint of his jungle roots. ''Feelin' Fine' ft. A Sides & Singing Fats continues the more ambient theme - albeit offset by up-tempo programming - as the vocal introduces elements of funk, whilst Getaway' feat. Adrienne Richards & Random Movement looks to a harder beat aesthetic amidst a flurry of looped piano chords and warped bass. 'Medusa', another stand out track on the LP, opens with a frenetic burst of drums and synths as DJ Marky showcases just how far his production remit stretches - an important facet of his work that lies at the core of Marky's continued longevity and success.

* Smooth and progressive, 'My Heroes' thus explores the full spectrum of drum & bass and even further afield - from full-tilt club fare to laid-back, house-laden grooves - and is a testament to both the innovative producer and endearing personality that DJ Marky remains.

Following up on his landmark 'Martian Chronicles' LP for Commercial Suicide, Mindscape has carefully selected a number of artisanal craftsmen to delicately fondle and caress his excellence into a series of outstanding reworks.
Witness this, the first volume of greatness, with remixes from Tech stars, JADE and CHRIS SU with digital bonus remixes from NYMFO and CZA.

Huge support so far including FRICTION, OPTIV & BTK, AUDIO, KLUTE, ED RUSH, STATE OF MIND, MAZTEK, MEFJUS, etc.

Hailing from Toulouse, French trio Signs have already carved themselves out an interesting niche within the nu-skool neuro scene, stamping their unique output into the public's consciousness with big releases on Red Light Records, Bad Taste Recordings and C4C Recordings.
Their beats are sparse and militant with each drum hit afforded the space to dominate the audio spectrum, with pauses and moments of silence, delicately programmed into the DNA of the drum tracks, playing big part in the groove's forward momentum, propelling the riddims forward and creating a dynamically powerful and compelling backbone for the rugged, tough basslines to shine.
The tunes are punctuated with wild Reese fluctuations and sci-fi sound effects reminiscent of the Wormhole-esq techstep from the end of the last century, with dark atmospherics ushering each trackdown the rabbit hole and into the dank, hellishbasements of debauchery that tunes like these call home.
Interzone kicks things off with a clipped, jerky drum beat before a transformers bassline slams into focus in a delightfully rigid yet fluidly modulated fashion.
Percuss starts of life as a Clive Barker horror film before neurotic neuro synth work and tech sound effects combine with a stripped back drum beat to devastating effect.
Back Meat opens with a mournful pad refrain before launching into trademark Signs territory with muted reese bass joining disjointed drum work and high pitched strings.
Vermin is a hyperactive drumstep referencing number peppered with jungalist fills, acid squiggles and experimental IDM tinged flavours that recall some of the more recent work of producers such as Amit and others working at the more exploratory ends of the neuro and techno influenced spectrum.
To wrap up the release, the label boss - Jade joins in for the ride, with an upbeat speed-roller remix of Vermin.

2methyl's first full length album is both a feast for the dancefloor and an example of creativity. Following the Orb EP, Layer8 is a hard, fast album of futuristic dark drum'n'bass. But it is also an example of how to bring this genre forward while staying true to its energy. Very complex and detailed, the nine tracks of this album play with the rules of modern day's drum'n'bass and burst out of their restraints, resulting in an album whose horizon is beyond the dancefloor and which impresses by its magnitude and originality

* All Blue Feat Cleveland Watkiss
Stone cold soul music by Headz new comer Halogenix with vocals from Headz veteran Cleveland Watkiss. The track was bound to be a success.

* Beyond the bounds
Another track that shows why Halogenix has confirmed his place as one of the best newcomers over the last few years, A very soulful sound with enough dancefloor muscle find its place in many different sets.

* Shank
The most energectic offering on the EP, techy without being nerdy - clever edits and engineering prowess all combined for a peak time track.

A swirling warm breeze signals the welcome return of Technimatic who drop their first solo release since their critically acclaimed debut album of last year, 'Desire Paths'. Picking up from where they left off, Pete Rogers and Andy Powell deliver a superb sun-drenched EP coupling sharp, pristine drum & bass with trademark musicality perfect for the summer months ahead.

* ''The 'Flashbulb EP' is our first major project since 'Desire Paths'. After finishing the album we took a bit of a break from making music, instead we concentrated on building up our growing portfolio of flat caps and new-world wines. But we're on a roll again this year, and we're really pleased with the way the new EP has come together. There's progression from where we were last year, but it's still driven by our passion for rich, musically-led D&B. We hope you all enjoy it!' Technimatic 2015

After their release early in 2014 the duo Counterstrike returns to the one of the hardest/finest imprint these days, on PRSPCT.

Returning to Dispatch Recordings for their second EP on our main label, we're proud to welcome back the ever-evolving duo Gerra & Stone, for 2015, with the 'Unbreakable EP'.

* Despite releasing only twice with us to date, Gerra & Stone have quickly established themselves as key up and comers here at Dispatch, developing and fine tuning their skills to an impeccable standard, at almost implausible speeds.

* With 2014's gnarly 'Too Deep EP' still fresh in our minds, the pair explore a much more soul driven, musical direction for the 'Unbreakable EP', an angle seemingly subdued from dancefloor favourites of the past.

* Nothing better demonstrates this than title track 'Unbreakable', as the duo eloquently arrange sultry piano interludes from the talented Stephen McCleery, with thrilling sparks of signature low ends, all led by a beautifully striking vocal hook from folk singer Lucy Kitchen.

* Techier elements still linger, as gritty drum shuffle 'Plates' rebels, however, despite hitting hard when need be, the EP is characterised by its blissful Summer feel. With heavily Lenzman supported 'Tender Touch', soulful vocal echoes of 'Release My Soul' and delicate piano chords littering 'Almost U', Gerra & Stone complete their 2nd EP with a distinct touch of class.

Releasing under the moniker Misanthrop since 2002, Michael Brauninger's music reflects a foreboding sense of darkness, something that has been prevalent in his previous releases with the likes of Critical Recordings, Neosignal and Subtitles. Misanthrop has utilised unfamiliar ways to push the envelope of his twisted, sinister sound for new EP 'I Need More'

The automated refrain on 'Capitalism' reflects the stark coldness of Misanthrop's work, before unleashing an onslaught of off-beat breaks to display Brauninger's deft, often unpredictable production style.

'Rock'n'Roll', a more familiar tear-out drum & bass track, bolstered by pummelling percussive flourishes and flashes of distortion throughout.

Gaining support from the likes of Skrillex, Goldie, Skream, Alix Perez and more, Misanthrop has spent his 13 year career carving a sound that is wholly realised in this latest release. Brutal, uncompromising and inherently forward thinking.

This one took a little longer than expected
Every year for a while I've churned out the collected
Consequently
After such a time
I required a step back
A quiet pause-----to define.
-
I suppose it's just about the floor
But I've always wanted more
I find it hard to articulate
What it means to dedicate
If anything means anything at all.
-
Sometimes it does
But other nights I'm climbing the walls
Supposing this tempo wasn't a thing
Do you think I could sing
The same song that you sing

Following on from last year's 12" release from Hailon and Junglistic, the Jungle Rollerz label brings you two more brand new, oldskool influenced drum & bass/jungle tracks on black wax. Necrotype offers up a serious blend of thundering basslines, dark hardcore stabs and tearing, chopped up amen breaks with 'Bright Light', like a perfect cross between the dirty techstep of 1996 and 1993 darkcore. Junglistic on the flipside offers up a gorgeous combination of ruff and rolling jungle breaks and soaring emotive synths on 'Rhythm & Culture'.

The breakbeat executioners are back on Headz in their inimitable style

* Blade 9
Absolutely rolling, full of purpose. A juggernaut track that just does not let up. Perfect Headz ruffage. Eerie FX and classic samples jump in and out of the mix, a perfect dancefloor track for DJs and dancers.

* Break North
A breakbeat chopped into a marching, stepping track. Against the rugged drums there's spacey pads and bleeps that lighten the landscape before the pummelling bass hits you again. Another huge 12' from Nucleus and Paradox

* Basement Phil setup the Basement Record Label in 1989 from his record shop

The Record Basement' in Reading, and sister Labels Homegrown, 4 To The Floor, Basement House, Basement Classics, Nu Basement Records, Sound Of The Underground, Juicy Choons, Spotlight, Street Beats, Precious Material, Mystic Moods, Pivotal Entertainment, Pivotal Grooves, Pristine & Street Life.

SPEARLTD024 is the debut Spearhead EP from Dexcell.

* Dexcell made their mark with Spearhead fans with their anthemic remix of Hybrid Minds - Mountains. Their remix of BCee's 'Hold On' then showed their softer side and alongside those remixes they have become the remixers of choice for a growing number of mainstream artists such as Ellie Goulding, Philip George and Blonde.

* This time around they present to you four pieces of brand new and original music which showcase a taste of things to come.

* More words
* Support from BCee, Etherwood, London Elektricity, Nu:Tone, Spectrasoul, John B, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and a whole load more...

"After the diverse, well acclaimed "Speak The Truth" EP in 2014 and the tracks still appearing in DJs sets to date the Austrian duo return to Demand Records with their brand new three track single. "Warman" kicks it all off, which is a dubbed out half step number with dancehall vocals - second to none. "Homeground" is more of typical affair for the pairing. A deep & hard stepper in kind of a DJ Hazard way, but still having their own flex. "Navarro" on the other hand is lovely, smooth & rolling with keys and strings that makes you like them again, if you didn't like the previous two. Once again RoyGreen & Protone show that their strength lies in their versatility which matches with Demand Records diverse output."

* SPEAR060 sees the return of BCee as he brings us his 3rd full length studio album.
* BCee has drafted in the vocal talents of Rocky Nti, Philippa Hanna, Frank H Carter III & Saint Louis to keep things fresh.
* Also featuring special guests Hybrid Minds, S.P.Y, Villem & LSB.
* This will be released as a double pack gatefold coloured vinyl with CD included as well as a CD only and digital version.
* Support from Friction, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Bryan G, Blu Mar Ten, Doc Scott, Technimatic, S.P.Y, The Risky and a whole load more...

It's been an incredible year for DC Breaks. Igniting 2013 with the huge 'Shaman' the duo have unleashed smasher after smasher. From 'Proton' to 'Let It Go' to 'Swag', a track which enjoyed an impressive nine weeks at Beatport's number one and a total of three months in the top 10! Ending their most high profile, prolific year with an explosive finale, they deliver another mind-blowingly heavy two-tracker. Ladies and gentlemen, Ram Records are proud to present to you: 'Gambino' and 'Burning'.

'Gambino' makes its menacing mission statement clear from the very opening bar. An insistent bass riff hammers its message with staccato glee. Sharp enough to cut through concrete, it's bolstered with a demonic down-pitched vocal and a face-melting build up. A reload-demanding drop follows, turbo charged with heavyweight drums and DC Breaks' trademark brutality. The type of tune no one forgets the first time they felt its impact on the floor, this is outrageously heavy!

Next up: 'Burning'. Ensuring their broad style is repped to full effect, DC Breaks have flipped the switch from swagger to stomp. Its fuse is lit by a series of synths and a rush-riddled vocal before the boys hurl us face-first into a pounding riddim where the bass and kicks wallop in ten-tonne harmony. A high energy stampede that's dynamically arranged with a blissed out drop; there is no better testament to the raw, infectious power of music... Or indeed the talents of DC Breaks.

Make no mistakes: DC Breaks are killing it right now. And there's plenty more to come!

With three labels covering all musical sounds SMG are focusing on releasing, what was missing was an imprint exclusively for new talent.Shiro is Japanese for 'white' and the label will release artists on vinyl for the first time in limited runs of 200 white labels.
Our first release comes from Polish artist Erkiu who has already released music onCylon and CX (alongside Maurs).
The 'YRA' EP marks his first full solo release and of course, first ever vinyl release. 4 tracks of techno informed progressive drum and bass, the YRA EP firmly establishesErkiu as a name to watch.DJ support from Doc Scott, Loxy, Clarity, Presha, Gremlinz, Ruffhouse, Overlookand more.
