Beats Vinyl New Releases - News

* You're Next
Growling reece and jumping drums. Ulterior Motive show no sign of let up after the debut album The Fourth Wall. Menacing and dancefloor tested 'You're Next' was made specially for the floor.

* Music City
Super Funk. Blaxploitation. Ulterior Motive resurrect a style not heard for a while with this one. Sounding live and full of energy Music City is the slick older cousin of 2014 album cut Sideways and will no doubt be just as popular.

Continuing on their stellar run of form sees Villem & Mcleod drop another release of top drawer drum & bass. 'Ain't No Way' is pure dance floor goodness. Rolling drums, deep bassline stabs & vocal snippets all wrapped up perfectly. 'Make Tomorrow' features the boys alongside friend Totem delivering a blissful, summery roller to please anyone. Twinkles of piano, female coos, distant horns shimmering along steppy drums. 'Saved You' is a digital exclusive & sees the men going more for a head down, minimal affair. Something for everything on this one.

Jungle Cakes returns with two original tracks from Deekline. 'Alibaba' blends together all the ingredients you've come to know and love from Jungle Cakes. Snare driven junglistic broken beats, rolling subby bassline interchanged with a more wompy bassline on the drops and ragga aspects merge into one delectable recipe of rinse out business.
"On the flip" Deekline adds 'Still Passin', which takes the vocals and some other components of 'I'm Still In Love' by Sean Paul feat. Sasha, adds lyrical flows from the classic 'Passing Me By' by The Pharcyde and applies the proven Jungle Cakes formula. Sounds like an interesting match on paper, but it culminates into a fluid, cohesive roller thats fills your speakers with warmth and sunshine!

killer vintage Dub derived & leftfield half-stepping Drum & Bass related cuts

The name Chroma has echoed through the drum and bass community since their output as a collaborative project.
Individually, they've already been hosted by a number of pronounced record labels, being met by critical acclamation from across the business. But returning to underground tastemaker Program, Chroma's next production will resonate in your minds for a while. Their style has ensured longevity, whilst dipping into the futuristic sounds that makes contemporary drum and bass so forward thinking. And trust us, this one is no different. Rolling out first is '201 Dub' which highlights the trios consistency at putting out heartfelt bass-slabs that can reach an intimidating depth of musicality. Plucky, powerful and precisely laid out, this track leaves a lasting impression for the whole release. Beginning with a skit that lays beneath its structure, you're instantly aware of the ragga-style vocal that fades between carefully constructed beat patterns. Enticing you further into the mix, its driving pace never fluctuates yet continuously holds the wraithlike vibe which Chroma seem to conjure seamlessly. A record that quivers with power and with a bassline that reverberates throughout, 'Sovereign' continues with the same authority. At times you're caught unaware by its drifting humanism and the slight nod to the record's softer elements. This track opens their repertoire like a door, with the insistent kick of drums and skip of sample which weaves between loops of the amen break. Peppered with dynamic riff patterns, commanding your attention, the record is broken up by thoughtful breaks. As a result, they give you time to reflect on the versatility that Chroma is renowned for.

Going beyond the prototype and establishing themselves as a formidable force within the genre, this isn't the last you'll hear from the trio. So once again, it's time to get with the Program!

Fierce and dark hardcore drum 'n bass mayhem from PRSPCT veterans Cooh and Limewax!

* Renegade Hardware are proud to present the debut album from Maztek: ThreePointZero. Over a year in the making this body of work is without question Mazteks finest work to date. Encompassing his trademark uncompromising dance floor style as well as explorative sonic journeys into elaborate textured sound design and hip hop fused productions. This sampler provides an entry point into what to expect from the full album, which will be released in early December.

(A1) Cosmology & Enea - The Funky 2.3
*The Oxford / Freiburg partnership Cosmology & Enea deliver their debut co-lab and it's a stunning statement of intent. The immaculate drum work ignites the groove but it's the evangelistic piano hook that will really get heads turning and spines shuddering!
(B1) Sight Unseen - Expressions
*The Mysterious Sight Unseen develops further momentum with this dynamic roller. Progressive in nature, muscular in tone, the balance between dreaminess and deadliness is kept in check with precision production on every element.

A real bassline mover full of horn stabs and some old skool touches, 'Corrupt Level', is the work of three mighty production heads in Austria's Paul SG and Swiss producers Flowrian and Pulsaar. Ones to watch out for no doubt.
Dj Quotes:
PAUL SG - Florian & Thomas already had an idea going and they sent me the parts to work on it and i wanted to push it further.within a couple of minutes, I had this loop going and i liked the idea of a roller that just never stops to move. i have been playing this one out a lot and people all over europe danced their feet off! i really love working with my swiss boys!
Technicolour - Proper heads down, get a march on business. Classic Good Looking flavours.
Jay Rome - as a really good friend of Paul SG i know this tune for a little while now and since the first time i listened to it i was in love in this bass and melody....this is def a great solid track
Command Strange - what a roller! enjoy the depth of the track with the use of samples, well done!
Kasper - Classic goodlooking vibe with some very top notch production.  A track by just one of these artists would be enough to catch my attention, but all three makes for a sure-fire dance floor hit!
Malaky - Wicked tune.Smooth rolling breaks plus haunting samples,with a bassline that cuts through just right.Top stuff!!!!
Jrumhand - I really like the futuristic double bass twanging that memorable melody throughout the track. Coupled With some classic breaks and moving piano elements, the track fuses together perfectly.
* (B1) Random Movement - Alone This Way (No Need To Stay)
* Flip over and we're treated to the huge sounds of one of America's most soulful D&B producers, Random Movement. With a discography that's second to none this guy always shows up on point and delivers the goods in spades.
Dj Quotes:
Bryan G - First heard this at a warehouse party I do in South London and was the track that stayed in my head all week. So happy to find it, so much funk and soul up in dis track, its ridiculous horn sections, mad sexy.
Jack Frost - Alone this way is one of my fav records of the year so far .. The layers and build up are in true Good looking style with that extra edge and big bassline
Technicolour - Mike Random Movement always brings the funk, and this is no exception. I've been playing this A LOT.
* Press / Promotion:
* Highlights:

One of the most infectious slices of drum & bass to hit the speakers in some time, 'Stray Strong' is a dance floor gem. All killer, no filler, this one bounces like a springbok right the way through with some smart cut up vocals riding the wave until the end while the smooth horns give it an added touch of class.
Munich's Rowpieces brings his Germanic funk to proceedings for a track that could only be on goodlooking. A heady mix of jazz keys, sultry vox and a bassline groove to move you. Wait for the vibraphone to rock in and you could be forgiven for thinking Roy Ayers was in the room!

(A1) Phat Playaz - Sandy Dance
Graham Barber, aka Phat Playaz has been around the D&B scene for a while now and has featured on many labels. Here he makes his goodlooking Records debut with a very clever, intricately produced grimy slice of Drum & Bass. This track has a melodic, almost hypnotic feel to it, interspersed with a nagging double bass.
(B1) Funkware - Walk On The Wild
This track has winner written all over it. Racing breaks, great bassline rumbling along with a huge sounding horn. Very catchy & yet another international Artist, this time around hailing from Bulgaria, making his goodlooking debut. One to watch.

The Outside Agency and Deathmachine had never collaborated until this release, and in retrospect they were most likely doing the world a favor. The simple reason for this is that the two monsters they're letting loose upon the world on this release can only be described as extremely dangerous. The Outside Agency's signature hard-hitting kicks and drum & bass percussion combine with Deathmachine's ignature hard-hitting kicks and drum & bass percussion to provide us with weaponry for the next two millennia. This is definitely one of the most hardcore releases on One Seven Five thus far. Guaranteed to work on most dancefloors it finds in its path, as per usual. In all honesty it's all just a big load of noise, but who doesn't love that

* For the second chapter of our 'Fast Music' series we take a journey through the sounds of jungle. From the 19-year Hospital Records and Med School back catalogue we draw from the core, proving just how deep the roots go in drum & bass of past and present.

* With influences of breakbeat, dub and reggae, jungle is at the foundation of some of Hospital's most prominent dance-floor prowlers. In over 46 tracks, Nu:Tone keeps the energy high, moving through the vocal chop-ups of Logistics and Danny Byrd, the deep basslines of S.P.Y and Total Science and right through to the broken beats of A-Sides and Krakota. Not to mention the likes of Calibre, Commix, Icicle, D*Minds and Detail also inspired by the drum & bass origin, bringing the junglist hype right to the forefront.

After starting to produce almost a decade ago and steadily releasing music since 2010, Eastcolors has worked with some of drum & bass' finest talents including Enei, Clarity and with big upcoming names such as Traffic & Noel. Often an unsung hero of the scene, Eastcolors' debut album on Demand Records sees him rise as one of Russia's forefront producers. 'Lighthouse' is without doubt one of 2015's most honest and diverse albums of the year, covering drum & bass and beyond in a versatile and uncompromising way only Eastcolors can. A vision of a young artist's music translated into a magnificent 16 track journey, this LP is the rare type of release that's enough to satisfy serious music fans, producers and DJs worldwide. It's about time the world woke up to Eastcolors.

* With tracks like Open Page, Redlines, Bittersweet and Testimony under her belt already it came as no surprise when Riya won Best Vocalist 2014 at the Drum & Bass awards.

* Having already worked with Total Science, Enei, S.P.Y, Lenzman, Hybrid Minds and the list goes on, the debut long player from Riya is long overdue.

* As if Riya's vocals weren't enough on their own, she's also called in Dynamite MC, Collette Warren and Frank H Carter to take up mic duties.

* With a list of producers such a Break, Enei, Emperor, BCee, Hybrid Minds, Total Science and more, you know this is something special.

* Support from Friction, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, John B, Nu:Tone, DJ Marky, Technimatic, Total Science and a whole load more...

* Bouncing back onto Dispatch with the first of two new EPs, DBR UK arrive with four tracks that make up their 'Say What You Want EP', alongside vocal support from Amanda Seal.
* Opening with 'Paranoia', its serious roller business from the Luton based trio; an essential head swinger for the arsenal. Dark, raucous beats form the core of the EP, as the sirens of rap tinged 'Kick'n Ya Door' echo over the murky, twisted low ends in a raw encounter.
* Offering an escape from the darkness, title track 'Say What You Want' takes a more retrospective stance, with the vocals of Amanda Seal softly balancing between the emotions. Skipping to the last track and vocals harmonise with lighter pads, only to set the calm scene before 'The Storm'. Structured features on the final track to close off the EP in explosive DBR fashion.

Slovenian Drum & Bass stalwarts Telekinesis (comprising of producers Smooth and Markoman) return to the label for the first time since impressive 2013 EP 'Judgement Day'.

Following a recent remix for Blackout label-mates State of Mind, 'Fight Club' builds on the reputation Telekinesis have already garnered for their hard-edged approach to drum & bass. Slickly produced, it's a dark, grinding slice of club action that feeds into Blackout's penchant for neurofunk and having already earned support form the likes of Andy C, Ed Rush, Camo & Crooked and Spor, it feels ready to make a real impact.

Expressions by Fokuz returns with a marvelous 12'' record by liquid stalwart Vandera. He delivers three diverse but excellent tracks with plenty of groove for those who like their beats with soul. ''Ring The Alarm'' features live guitar licks played over sultry rhode chords that could remind one of early Makoto. Next up is ''Sparkin Up'' that has a slightly deeper, dancefloor edge with techy stabs and rolling, powerfull drums. Last but not least ''Make Believe'' featuring Alicia Romero brings us a bit of melancholy with heartfelt vocals and soaring bass sounds. Best to pick this baby up, you won't regret it.

Delve into the deepest layers of drum & bass with Anile's impressive debut LP, Perspective'. Combining a thoughtful synergy of sounds that pulsates sophistication, infusing warehouse echoes with crisp percussion for a refined yet raw, underground authenticity.

* Opening with a resonance of childhood reminders in False Tense' that combines a shimmering synth with all-absorbing waves of bass. Then turning to the sinister twists of Jack of Clubs', rotating a chilling hook with stabs of vocal punches, before gliding through the subtle sounds of Stay With Me' uniting gentle glimmers of piano with soft whispers of baritone vocals.

* Throughout, Perspective' is the perfect balance of vocal talent with quality instrumentation from the City of Injustice', which cleverly combines urban callings with DRS' deep lyrical intellect, to the soaring vocals of Tiffani Juno in the emotive and mesmeric Not the Way (To Run)'. Also featured on the album are talented artists Inja in Between the Sides' and Hannah Eve in Inside'.

* With the utmost quality and class, this high calibre collection excites and entices on every listen, building upon Anile's last Med School release, the well-received Losing My Mind' EP. "Perspective' surpasses any expectations, setting a promising stance for this proficient producer.

Danny Scrilla returns to Cosmic Bridge!
The label that introduced him to the world with his stunning 'Flash Powder' EP in 2012 now gives you his 'True Sight' EP. Including a collaboration with label boss Om Unit, drawing on the hardcore continuum and regression in modernist music True Sight's soul-infused electronics and vintage sound should prove future-proof for the elusive soundboy.
Arriving on the crest of footwork's rhythmic experiments exploiting slowfast halftime tempos Scrilla's sound is hard to pin down, Dub and Soundsystem culture influence heavily, a legacy of his early work with Reggae and Dancehall sound system Rise and Shine', but as True Sight highlights again Scrilla resists categorisation. Dark, Moody and Energetic and with a crucial balance of dread, romance, sci-fi imagineering, eyes down spirit and heart-rushing rhythms this record will appeal to fans of Instrumental Hiphop, Liquid DnB, '06 OG Dubstep's dark sparse sounds, Jungle, House and left-field Techno.
While Helium might be the strongest sonic connection to Scrilla's past releases, it cuts it's own path. A stark rumbling low end tickler it's house fired off dubwise, switching detuned sidechain pads with a gorgeous rolling organ bassline, soulful female vox and slapping drums for some heads down stepping introspection. The ear-kissing dreamy cybersoul of Rigel7 shows a different side to Scrilla, Smokey instrumental hip-hop, classic Mo'wax downbeat moodiness, bittersweet jazz and brilliant pensive piano work are counterpointed by complex dynamics and warm rich sub-bass suggesting once again that hip-hop and dubstep might be closer cousins than is usually admitted. Jello's spacious heavyweight ruffage is built fortowering stacks and pitch-black rooms. A Prince Far-I vocal sample underlines the strong dub influence. and an off-grid sidestick percussion pattern breaks up the halfstep beat making for some twisted swaying dungeon vibes. Wrapping things up Om Unit gets in on the action with the aerobic noirish drumfunk of Free Flight and you can immediately hear the label bosses influence! Liquid and impressionistic nocturnal breakbeat geometries are anchored by darker, meaner bass and ruff sub pressure. When these two put their heads together few can test! ( check their previous form with Hunch (Flash PowderEP) // Gentrification (Cosmology LP) ).
Previously based in both Berlin and London, Danny Scrilla is now residing in Munich. Highlights from his Cosmic Bridge hiatus include releases on Civil Music,Rudimentary Records, appearing (three times) on Cosmic Bridge's DJ Mag nominated compilation of the year 'Cosmology' regular appearances on NTS Radio, mixes forElectronic Beats, Big Up Magazine, remixes for Reso and LV and being championed at the BBC by Toddla T and David Rodigan amongst others.

The album here now at hand has been in work for more than a year. Just enough time for Sebastian Damerius aka ComixXx to bring in fourteen tracks which complete in its build up his
long-awaited solo album. For this cause he invited several guests to his Berlin based studio. Maybe first and foremost Alex Barck, who has been backing him up throughout all of the production process with his enormous experience and his beyond any doubt reliable sense of style. It has been Barck, too, how discovered the 15-year old singer Mirna in the school choir of his daughter and brought her to ComixXx' studio to record her self-penned Can U Feel'. That's also already the album's first hit, having been released already last year as a teaser with a wide response.

Neurofunk powerhouse label Eatbrain returns with its latest high quality offering, this time from the one known as L 33. The Bulgarian producer's futuristic, dancefloor-crushing sound has seen him rise to prominence over the last few years, with releases on a who's-who of neurofunk D&B labels. Now, he joins the Eatbrain fold with SCREAM EP - a fearsome 4 track offering of alien rhythms and sound design worthy of the most frenzied dancefloors.
L 33 leads off with the intricate 'Scream'. Setting the stage with a haunting synth pattern underlying arrays of distant percussion, L 33 punctuates the atmosphere with sharp, grinding stabs before dispensing a pleasingly disjointed groove of weighty bass notes and carefully placed medleys.
Next up, 'Digital Sound' wastes no time raising the pressure, building up before initiating a rolling, robotic funk complemented by a textured, distorted low end.
L 33 ingrains his sinister melodic palate on the high-octane 'Oscillation', while 'Calibrate' primes listeners with an eerie cascade of dissonant arpeggios before initiating an aggressive dancefloor rhythm to close out the release.
All in all, the SCREAM EP makes for a highly potent Eatbrain solo debut from the young Bulgarian talent - no doubt one of neurofunk drum & bass's rising stars. Expect no less from Eatbrain - purveyor of premier neurofunk drum & bass.
