Beats Vinyl New Releases - News

Following NFM's superb debut 12' on Nu Directions in the spring, their sophomore release on the label offers something for everyone. Mosus and HLZ's collaborative project has born fruit since it's inception at the turn of 2010 with releases on some of the scene's premier labels. SGN:LTD, 31 and V Recordings are some of the imprints that have showcased their creations to date with many more in the pipeline. The 'Super Earth EP' is a collection of the duo's most creative work to date. A soundscape of musical textures, 'Panoramic Views' and Screenplay' explore the drum & bass boundaries, while 'Moving Pictures' and 'Medallion' are snappy bass-driven workouts for the dancefloor. The CD version is housed in a limited edition digifile sleeve with previously unreleased bonus track 'Lasers'. DJ and Radio support from DJ Krust, Commix, Lynx, Logistics, Nu:Tone, Storm, Spirit, Digital, Sabre, Zero T, Lenzman, Artificial Intelligence & Flight.

1 Need For Mirrors - Panoramic Views
2 Need For Mirrors - Moving Pictures
3 Need For Mirrors - Screenplay
4 Need For Mirrors - Medallion

Moving onto release number 4, Coded presents the next 12' by Phobia, Jubei & Sato. Following on from the massive 'Coopers Dream', 'Atlas' is more rolling bassline pressure from the Coded camp, whilst on the flip 'Jitter' steps into more techy terrain. Both tracks should be an essential part of any decent DJ's arsenal. Support for the 12' has come from D-Bridge, Vicious Circle, Fierce, Raiden, Mindscape and more. Long time producer and innovator ASC steps to Pushing Red with two fantastic pieces of Detroit-tinged techno. He's well known in many circles for his wonderful drum & bass releases which more recently have brought him success on such labels Exit, Nonplus & his own Auxilary. His is also known for other tempos and this release is pure evidence that he is just as deadly in this realm as his drum & bass!

Enter Genotype...After the huge success of Offkey #20 The Remixes, We are proud to bring you Genotype. An Old school Hardware legend that is now back on his A-Game. This 12~ for OK takes a step away from his dubbed-out outings soon to be available on Voodoo Music & Exit. The two tracks are Mystical Mentality b/w The Real Deal.It is now Genotypes turn to put his stamp on the Offkey blueprint. A Side: Mystical Mentality: The word ROLLER does not even come close to describing this number. A straight two step is laced with the most hypnotizing percussion one could imagine, bringing the track to the front of many deejays boxes. Do not be fooled into thinking this isn't Techno influenced- Check Jeff Mills 'Jet Set' release and you'll exactly what we mean, Genotype and Offkey are bringing you another angle on our blueprint and in doing so bridging the gap perfectly between techno and b-boyism. The track is underpinned a massive bass that has guaranteed rewinds & plays from London to Colombia. Time to get Mystical indeed. AA Side: The Real Deal: A break driven tear out from Genotype, amens and subs at the ready. Trademark reverbs and delays in the breakdown single towards the pressure incoming. The drop is pure vibes, and the track demands itself to be played at peak time in the set. A real treat from Genotype- splashes of Old Skool keep the track bubbling throughout and the big bass synonymous with genotype is ever present- driving the track home. The first release on the label from Genotype and what a way to start proceedings!

An amazing producer from the Ukraine brings us the 25th release on Australian label Hardline Rekordingz. With his previous releases on Mindsaw & Foul Play Leepshec is going from the strength to strength

Technicolour returns to Technique, again hooking up with Komatic for their biggest and boldest 12" to date. 'Daydreamer' is a monstrous slab of euphoric liquid funk, with spine-tingling soul chops and enough production muscle to ensure any dancefloor will feel it's power. The equally effective 'Skyline Boulevard'
is dripping in authentic flavours, and features one of the biggest buildups you'll hear all year.
This should whet your appetite nicely for Technicolour's debut album, forthcoming on Technique later in the year. Support From Annie Mac on Radio 1,LTJ Bukem, Fabio & Artificial Intelligence,

Re-Released after one year out of press!!. This 12' is a serious throttle to the senses, commanding dancefloors around the world to stand to attention. Sometimes aggy, sometimes deep, sometimes just down right dirty. The scientific sinister element burns bright alongside the rewinds of the masses. Deeply shadowy future tek drum'n'bass using a relentless and complex collection of upfront dark beats and moody soundscapes to encase the ears and get the dancefloor ready to strike. Massive 12' from the leaders of the Nu School.

Limited coloured vinyl pressing. Mosus & HLZ, two humans collectively known as Need for Mirrors take years of submerged sonic research and reflect / project it back at us with the utmost respect to the craft of Drum and Bass production. NFM have effectively filtered the cream elements of what formed the golden years of drum and bass, added their own unique approach, and forged it all together into potent innovative future darts. Dart number 1 - 'Def Tone' is a lesson in mixdown depth, pushing each sound to its maximum strength. Drums that deliver on their serious intent, a bassline that shudders menacingly outside normal frequencies and eerie atmospherics that temper the NFM funk. 'Scar Tissue' is a Need For Mirrors personal favorite, its low slung brood gliding across your senses while the rhythm section works its magic. This is how Drum and Bass is meant to sound!Need For Mirrors have seen immense DJ support from Pendulum, Friction, Krust, Dj Die, Doc Scott, Jubei, Presha, Logistics, Nymfo, Zero t. The first release of what promises to be an action packed and innovative year for Samurai Music and Samurai Red Seal. Look for follow up 12's from Need For Mirrors, ASC, and the debut EP from rising stars Tokyo Prose on the label in the next few months.

Leeds based duo Octane & DLR are set to blow up. 'Back In The Grind is the track that will firmly put them on the D&B map. This is one of the freshest and sickest D&B tracks a long time. Ant TC1 & Octane's District (a track containing a rather cheeky South African themed sample; don't worry it's not the annoying plastic horn but rather a film about prawns to provide another clue!)

Crunch delves deep into the Dutch underground to showcase some of Eindhoven's established and upcoming talents side by side. Icicle, Martyn, Proxima, Nymfo & Mindmapper lend their signature sounds to help craft an album of deep, futuristic rollers, whilst Erosie , also from Eindhoven created the stunning artwork.
