Zardonic join's forces with Counterstrike & Mumblz. Zardonic's brand of Drum & Bass has four main elements: the Melodic element (as there's nothing I hate the most than these stupid dark tracks that have no melody on them and it's all about noise and no key notes), the Latin element (coming from Venezuela, savage grooves just have to be there), the Industrial element (yup, I like noise, with melody, but always a reason behind my tracks sounding so overcrowded), and obviously the Metal element, since I'm stuck using minor thirds, fourths, fifths, diminished fifths, or ninths, and a lot of amp simulators to add that organic tone in my reeces and leads. That pretty much sums it up. Melody. Latin. Industrial. Metal.

Over the years, drum & bass has seen literally thousands of record labels come and go. But amid the seemingly infinite

More tunes followed with a remix of Tiesto (with Paul B) getting which gained huge attention Stateside, with a 12” on Goldies Metalheadz labsl following Gleb going solo. Not only a talented Producer, Gleb is also held in high regard as both a DJ and Promoter….

He successfully marries ice cold minimalism with wide open dancefloor sonics, and with huge support from the likes London Elektricity, Hype, Fabio, and of course Goldie, expect more Subwave in your system shortly.

Phunkfiction is proud to present one of the hottest new school producers of the moment. Anile is making big waves on the scene right now with his very own definition of futuristic Drum&Bass. 'Left Behind' and 'Lessons To Become' are impressive examples of how you can put dark soundscapes and minimal elements in a heavy dancefloor suit. Both tracks are getting support from a lot of big DJs on the scene such as Loxy, Spectrasoul, Lenzman, Lynx, Flight or Triad.

RT016 features Naibu's debut for Rubik Records in the form of "Convictions" (featuring Key). Known for melodic and intricate tunes, Naibu raises the bar again and brings us an amazing display of how to balance light and dark elements in a tune.

The second release of this mightky label for the fall of 2010. Gein presents the sounds of SPKTRM to showcase its diversity he wants to sign for his label. SPKTRM straight from the USA is already a well established name out there with releases on labels like Human / Habit / Project 51 / Evol Intent / Barcode / SS. Avant Futura takes us into the depths with its hard hitting kicks, rollin snares, bassline growls and the sax floating around in the atmosphere. The flip Iconia is another bassline fuelled hardhitter. Spooky intro introduces the massive bassline. Big bad heavy beats will pound the speaker to shreds. Habit is back and ready to kick ass and take names.

Two years since his mesmerising debut LP 'It's a Jazz Thing' transported d&b dancefloors across the world back to the halcyon days of early-noughties liquid-funk bliss, the unabashed ambassador of vintage d&b is back doing exactly that: vintage d&b. The template is the same - lavish melodies, spring-fresh beats and unfathomably orginal soul samples - but this history lesson just grew some meaty balls: 'NRG '93' channels the spirit of old-skool hardcore; 'Skyward Bound' threads classic Amen clatter and heavy low-end through sublime '70s guitar loops; and the wrinkle-tastic Ragga Twins jet in to holler magificently over rollicking experimental stepper 'Enter The Jungle'. Experimental steppers~ Utah Jazz~ Believe it - true to form, the renowned party-rocking DJ is quite happy bucking all preconceptions as well as ignoring musical trends, and the results are his best work yet.i DJ album review 9/10.

A Side 'Release' Calming things down a little 'Release' continues the tempo with a bouncing bass and booming sub to match as delicate synth stabs and vocal washes trickle over the top to make for a great cut as the LP journey picks up pace. AA Side 'The Sleeper' is anything but with it's rollin' bassline and stepping drums that smash any club when dropped. A sure-footed crowd pleaser that shows the guys getting seriously engrossed in some vintage D&B vibes.

Jon Stanley aka Cyantific is back - careering back into the drum & bass spotlight right where he belongs, with the debut release on his own self-titled label. Leading the way is 'Brighter Day' - the latest collaboration between Cyantific and fellow Hospital Records artist Logistics. Picking up where their previous outing, the mighty 'Flashback', left off, it's supercharged electric d&b of the highest order, featuring the vocal talents of Natalie Williams. While the lead synth line and uplifting vocals sooth the soul, the ever so snarling bassline and pumping subs remind you that this isn't going to be all plain sailing. After gaining a huge following online through Danny Byrd's recent BBC Radio 1 guest mix, the lead track is set to smash dancefloors up and down the country with support from what reads like a who's who of the drum & bass A list.On the flip, Cyantific goes it alone, deeper into the jungle with '88 mph'. Filled to the brim with amen breaks, big bass and urgent samples, it's 3am at Fabric room 1. Reminiscent of Cyantific's early Hospital Records jungle rinse outs such as 'Little Green Men' and 'Reincarnation Dub', this latest offering is set to blow a hole twice the size in your bassbin with subs that go so low you will find them somewhere in subterranea.

October 2010 sees breakthrough artist Judda provide the third installment for Critical's sister label Modulations. This Bournemouth-based producer has already received strong support and radio airplay from Radio 1's Fabio, with releases on Subtitles and CIA - and now, critically, Modulations. True to Kasra's faith in sounds unexplored, 'Pressure Plate' almost transcends space and time armed with its eerie waves of futurism. A clean drum-kit punches itself into a bumpy bassline proudly reminiscent of Ed Rush & Optical's wormhole era. This funky upbeat stepper delivers a relentless growl, drawing it right back down through the underworld. Judda's startlingly bright percussion rests neatly beneath a deeply penetrating rumble suitably inspired by the sounds of nu school heroes, Ulterior Motive - a signature quality Hades himself would be proud of. The flip side serves up a collaboration with fellow Bournemouth local, Krakota. A newcomer but no stranger to the scene, their joint venture 'Rodan' sounds deceptively simplistic initially - yet its intricacies quickly arise, easily appealing to the energy of the dance. Its naughty crisp snare awakens a hoarse, unforgiving husk which coaxes beneath your skin and induces a chill to the blood, dropping and rising, inviting you into the realms of rolling minimal, except with extra and irresistible bite, bounce and bass. Auxiliary is the new label from ASC. It's goal is the continuation of the Autonomic sound, that has risen to popularity over the last year or so. US based ASC has just released his debut LP on Nonplus Records entitled 'Nothing Is Certain' and he now feels the time is right to launch his own label showcasing his unique sound.ASC has always been involved with the more experimental end of Drum & Bass having released music on such influential labels as Offshore and Warm Communications inspired by the works of 808 State, Art Of Noise, The Prodigy, Blame, Odyssey, Future Sound Of London, Slowdive, Monolake, Polar & Autechre.Starting out with what has to be one of the most eagerly awaited tracks this year, The Touch finally sees a release. From UKRAINE we present DERRICK+TONIKA with a deep cut called HUMANA and on the flip MIKAL out the UK comes with a
minimal lick called MISSION..

A side 'Rouge State' brings the tribal funk and a unique cinematic flavour. An emotive blend of depth and hypnotic energy. Subtly evolving but punched packed, the sub-bass lines are unmistakable. On the flip side 'Concert' uplifts with soulful vocals (think Erykah Badu) and a minimal glitchy backdrop. Perfect 12' for the Future beats 31 records imprint.

After a lengthy break from the electronic music world, Genotype is back with an LP for Exit Records and provides a lesson in stripped back dub influenced music at approximately 170 bpm. Having started his music career in the mid nineties under the legendary alias Just Jungle, with releases on the massively influential labels of that era such as Trouble On Vinyl, Renegade Hardware and Reinforced Records, its no surprise that he's managed to capture the essence of rawness in his recent music akin to the early years of Jungle. Many producers have tried and failed to bring back the old skool sound with an original flavor but Genotype has managed this by resisting the temptation to lash in the tired old classic breaks and instead has drawn for the more organic sounding percussion and drum kits. The dubbed out theme runs throughout the album paying homage to his love for West Indian music which he has been involved in for many years and naturally influences the music he creates. Genotype is a man of few words and prefers to let his music do the talking so check out the album and draw your own conclusions.

Boka Records hit release number 30 and they've delved deep into the Dubstep archives on this one. Innasekt's 'Cluster' has been around on Dubplate for well over a year now with the Dubstep heads still demading it's release, it's finally here! This one packs a punch, ultra deep and heavy basslines with Innasekt's signature technological atmosphere's. Backed with their remix of Sumone's (Planet Mu) track 'Zombie', a voyage into deep and atmospheric drumstep. It's been a while since Innasekt's releases on Rottun Recordings and the rumour is this could be their final release under this name.
