Fifth release for Outrage's Backlash Records imprint, and the funk has no sign of ceasing! We've got two dynamic plates on this one, and the fiery 'Twisted' kicks things off. In his no-nonsense approach, this cut wastes no time in getting to the point: once the infectious bass is introduced, its go time! It's an understated menace, with not too many elements mucking up the pressure - just snappy drums, a rumble of a bass and some interesting twists and turns to the main theme. Bombastic, try it on a ready crowd. On the flipside, Outrage goes a bit deeper with 'New Faces', bringing in a sinister growl and pairing it up with a bouncy bassline. Feels like the effects of a drug, blood rushing, lights skittering, all colors awash, and all you see are a sea of new faces. Welcome to the future.

Bringing yet more total refreshment is Kasra's Critical movement with what is yet another example of superlative A&R'ing skills. Stray is a name that's surfaced previously on the Critical Sound album and more recently as a bonus remix on Sabre's LP but this is his first solo single release and as you can imagine with fans like Gilles Peterson waiting in the wings, it's most definitely a keeper. 'Locked Up' is a welcome shot in the arm for drum & bass heads and electronic fans alike. Fusing techno and 80's sensibilities over a razorsharp break workout, it's absolutely phenomenal. Balearic, beautiful and thoughtful music that manages to straddle the dance floor/home listening divide with ease with its soothing piano lines, simple lead and rumbling bass. One to sit and watch the sunset to, then get up and dance once the lights go down. Things get darker on the flip with 'Erase'. A life-support bleep rings from the start under cinematic strings and pads with a sparse break until an eerie soundscape dropout creeps us all out. Then back comes that break and a walking bassline as Stray starts to play with our minds dropping in some fierce old-skool edits and a synth line straight out of a horror film to make for an utterly compelling slice of experimental drum & bass. For the 23rd outing on this imprint deadlyp turns to long time producer temper d, who has had a string of releases on his own imprint and thought it's time to spread his wings a bit wider as he comes with 2 different tunes than you would expect from him. Both tracks have been doing damage on the dance floor as this 12 offers something for the tech heads and the jump up crew. 'break it down' is a techy tearout tune that does what it says on the tin, a short intro that gets straight to the point rolls then gives way to destroying bass, and crazy stabs. One to check for sure. 'wanna say' is a gritty styled jump up track . with flowing chords thru out the intro with a whispered vocal ' I know what you wanna say' paired with the crisp beats that take you to the drop. Then all hell is let lose as the gritty b-line and the beats take control clever use of the vocal aid the tracks progress. This tune does serious damage on the floor!!! Fortune on the flip is a little half tempo number with dubbed out samples and a sultry bassline. Or as we like to call it: a slow grinder. The first DSM release of the new decade sees them continue to push leftfield, forward thinking drum & bass. 2009 was big year for
Data with releases on Revolution, Horizons, premier dubstep label Tempa aswell as the mighty Metalheadz and for his first release of
2010 he returns to DSM with two tracks that cement his reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative producers in drum &
bass at the moment. 'The Visitor' sees him come with a slightly different style than his previous releases with the stripped back,
stepping intro giving way to skipping high hats that drive the track forward and a monstrous distorted Reese bassline reminiscenbt of
late 90's techstep. For the AA side he teams up with newcomer Kingsin for 'Baggage', and it is perhaps Data at his most
experimental with sharp, staccato, almost off beat drums and haunting synth lines coupled with a his trademark growling bass. Both
sides show a diversity in his production and goes to prove he is not one to stick to any particular style, but rather constantly innovate
and push boundaries with his music.

September signals a welcome return to the scene by two of D&B's most respected characters, Craggz & Parallel, and it couldn't have come a moment too soon. Since releasing their debut 'Northern Soul' LP on Valve back in 2006 the pair have stepped back, regrouped and are now ready to come full force with a brand new super-fresh sound that's sure to raise heads throughout the scene. This is the 2nd release in a 3 part series showcasing some of the drum and bass scene's brightest stars remixing selections from Gridlok's debut album 'Break the System'. Side A | Prolix (Ganja/Hardware/Virus) takes Gridlok and Dom's storming tune 'London's Burning' and sends it even grimier, even nastier. Side B | During the release of the 'AUTOPSY' album we had a remix contest hosted by Sony on their Acidplanet website. The tune was called 'Labrat' and the most impressive submission was by none other than drum and bass's own Audio (Freak/Hardware/Virus). He's come far since then having just wrapped up his new LP for Virus Recordings, but in that busy studio schedule he managed to give us a chugging new version of his remix which just couldn't wait to be heard, so here it is! SOM Music is the Drum and Bass record label owned by New Zealand production duo State of Mind. With huge collaborations with Icicle and Proxima creating massive hype getting huge reviews, Nymfo is hot property and proves he is one of the greatest deejays and producers in the scene today.

Time for the 2nd release on Paul SG's label, this guy is set for massive things this year with a LP to come on Good Looking later this year with Furney. LTJ Bukem has been championing this guy for sometime now. If you check out Bukems podcasts you will see plenty of high quality musical tunes from this producer who believes in his music 100% and it's not hard to see why!!! Both tunes are full jazzed out explosions with kick ass drum and lovely warm b-lines.

Sato debuted on Ingredients and this is now his 3rd single. 'Detroit lies bleeding' is a deep roller, perfect in the mix and a wicked groove. 'Seeker' is more of a rave out, wicked piano on the intro before the bass rumbles and the drums roll. Perfect dj material and that forgotten art within drum & bass - some dancefloor energy! Loxy & Keatons' label returns. Sunchase are making deadly, deep and hypnotic D&B, Do not sleep! Eastern Europe used to conjure images of bleak, snow-bitten landscapes and vodka-drinking Cossacks wrapped up in the remains of a bear. Up until a few years ago, it would never be a place where you instantly assume a thriving drum & bass community exists but like the rest of the world, Eastern Europe has taken a bite and got itself hooked. Sunchase has obviously pressed the right buttons because with tracks signed to Revolution, ELP and Moving Shadow amongst others, it seems his production prowess hasn't gone unnoticed. It was 'Remember Me' that really catapulted him to the ears of the D&B masses, and in particular Latvian singer Yana Kay's haunting vocal caused the likes of Concord Dawn, Fresh, Pendulum and John B to take notice.

Although the name might suggest otherwise, Commercial Suicide continues to thrive after nine years of releasing records and has risen to become one of the most respected labels around. Setting the standard with the debut release of his own Tranceformat, Klute's label has stayed clear of pigeonholes and built a reputation for original music with heart & soul as well as dancefloor appeal. Shatter / Ionizeda are pair of dirty funk killers.

Kicking off the first instalment in a series of fresh releases, including the long awaited new album from label owner Concord Dawn, Uman, one third of the immensely popular BLOKHE4D, brings his unique sound to Uprising Records. 'Mind Consumption' sees Illy MC's vocals run through the gritbox and layered with winding, grinding reeses and stepping beats that won't fail to get the dance moving. A-Sides has been a busy man for the past few years. Not only has he started a brand new label with Juan Basshead out of Miami called Basshead Music, but he's also been performing around the world on a daily basis, from Wellington in New Zealand to New York City to Bogotá. Two of the favourites on the album are 'Argon' (featuring Kemo) and the beautiful, luscious vocal sounds of Miss Deezim on 'Change'. With his tight production skills A-Sides takes us into the dark and out to the light with style and fashion. Music for the real manz dem, I say, but don't take my word for it! When 'Bright Lights' popped up in a couple of sets all those months back the furore around the NUM office was instant. 'Who's done that'~ 'Maaaaate that's sick'! Just a couple of the sentences that flowed that memorable day. So now, a few months on, the full release of 'Bright Lights' is here. Serum steps up to rework Dope Ammo's original 'Warning' and his remix is so good it just had to go on the A side. Rolling old skool breaks and droning basslines are a speciality of this young producer and he turns 'Warning' into an instant club hit. No wonder DJs like 1Xtra's Mistajam and Crissy Criss have been battering this man's tunes.

Both these tracks have received great support from Nookie, Makoto, and most of all John b! who has been listing the tracks on his online mixes and pod casts.
