* This EP contains four stunning tracks, covering various styles of hardcore, and its the absolute bomb. For a start, Sanxion brings the piano flavor with a track that lives and breathes the traditional Kniteforce sound, bought to a fine shine the way a truly skilled artist can. Meanwhile, Nicky Allen destroys the dance floor with his hyper hardcore track, one that I have been playing at everyone in the vicinity for the last few months or so. Flip the vinyl over and we move into darker territory. TNO is a more recent signing to the Kniteforce label and his first offering is all dark and atmosphetic, but with a relentless pace and undeniable energy. And to round the EP off, Mannik mentasms the hell out, and gives you a small taste of what his forthcoming EP will be like - crazy, dark, authentic old skool that breaks all the rules and shows true skill and panache.

* Ant To Be's debut EP is stunningly accomplished, to the point where you have to wonder how an unknown artist could have this much skill in the first place. Having won a competition to remix a track from Kniteforce Records, he was signed to Knitebreed almost immediately. His music is old skool in the traditional sense, but produced with a clear vision and clarity, and even though he is comfortable in various styles, there is a definite 'Ant To Be-ness' about each track. The A-side shows the lighter, piano styled tunes the Knitebreed label was traditionally known for, but the treasure is on the flip, with standout track 'Nobody Like Me' being a firm favorite. Dark, but not miserable, and with a sly sense of humor, it is the winner on an EP containing a variety of winners.

* This 12' on the newly relaunched Knitebreed Records features the meeting of the old and the new. Cru-l-t, former producer and partner with Jimmy J, is an old skool legend within the scene, and a regular Kniteforce artist. Meanwhile, Dj Jedi from Jedi Recordings is one of the pioneers in the new world of old school sounds. The two have combined their resources to bring an EP that is both old and new, maintaining the classic early 1990's vie while still keeping the modern production values of today. Each artist created a track, and then had the other remix it on this unique 12', and the results are killer.

* Luna-C says this was one of the most challenging EPs he has ever made, because he made a record almost exactly as he would have if it was 1992 again, only with considerably more knowledge. This EP was made almost entirely with hardware, using a real mix desk and all the original synths and modules that the Kniteforce studio used back in the day, along with some new bits picked up over the years. This EP was a deliberate attempt to go back to the roots of the sound, to start again musically.
All four tracks are proper underground in style, deliberately avoiding the common break beats and standard sounds of current 'new' old skool music, to achieve something more authentic. It features all new samples, and no reliance on old tricks or techniques. This one is for the real underground, the real old skool, and the sound of it demonstrates that!

* Idealz has been involved with Kniteforce since the early Influential days, all the way through KFA and into this new relaunch of Kniteforce Records. This EP is a long time coming - Idealz should always have had a Kniteforce release under his belt, as he has always been, and remains, a distinct sound within the label. This EP brings his unique sound to its perfect place - proper Jungle / D'n'B, but in the old style, and on vinyl where it deserves to be. Run The Tune is one of the best examples of this style released this year, and would fit in perfectly in any 1994-96 jungle set. It is a classic slice of precision jungle, one that moves the dance floor and the mind equally.
On the flip side, Ice Breaker and War On Jungle take the same themes but twist those vibes into other directions. This release, and Mannik's (KF73) really put the flag in the sand for Kniteforce. We do old skool the way it should be done, and embrace all the styles. This is a proper EP for the real underground!

* Paul Bradley is a long time hardcore soldier, someone who has lived and breathed the breakbeat scene since its inception, and who finally took the plunge into producing relatively recently. His music is direct and uplifting, with no time for subtlety or overly clever trickery. Each track on the EP is dedicated to moving the dancefloor into a state of euphoria, frenzy, or both. Pounding breaks and piano lines are compliments by some strange and amusing sample choices, leaving you never quite sure of what will happen next.

* The Timespan was a regular artist on the famous Kniteforce subsidiary label, Remix Records. One of Luna-C's many aliases, The Timespan has always been on a mission to make simple, effective hardcore. This EP takes that formula and applies the years of knowledge gained since 1994 to make something that sounds...almost the same as it would in 1994. Only better. Full on pianos, running break beats, happy vocals, hip hop snippets and hectic stab patterns, this EP was made almost entirely on hardware rather than software. The result is that it contains not only the ideas of the old skool, but the warm analogue soundscapes from that era. It also features a 'revisit' by label mate Cru-l-t of the Timespan's classic track 'Music' - an updated and rebuilt from the ground up version of that tune.

Skeleton kick start 2018 with the first of a series of double artist releases

Jem-One started his journey into the Drum and Bass scene during 2007 with signings to many labels such as Mac 2, 36 Hertz and Vampire Records. After a break of a few years, Jem-One is back and firmly establishing himself within the deeper, darker, underground jungle scene and is definitely one to keep your eye on. Footsteps and Frequency takes his sound down the tech steppy, hard hitting path.

Vince Rollin has been producing since 1993 and started receiving attention in 2017 after remixing the jungle classic 'Screwface' by Brainkillers, which was released on Kemet Records.

2017 also saw Vince throwing down releases on 36 Hertz and Skeleton, with a host of remixes, collabs and solo productions, finding support from some veterans of the scene. Prometheus and Symbiosis have that trademark heavyweight sound of his that shake the walls of any dancehall.

The noticible difference being a quick fire '93 style remix with sharp stab, piano,vocal changes through out climaxing into hardcore rave euphopria with the 'Calling the Hardcore' lyrics by Francesca resonating throughout.

Since first appearing on Metalheadz in 2014 the duo have been hidden away mastering their craft and honing their skills, culminating in a 11-track long player entitled 'Something Blue'.

Now ready to be unleashed, 'Something Blue' is an album that ventures into various corners of drum & bass and jungle, never failing to surprise or evoke emotion. It's a culmination of Blocks & Escher's dedication to the music, with the finished article coming in at nothing short of exceptional.

Every tune of the 12" is deeply inspired by the origins of the mid 90s melodic Jungle & D'n'B movement, namely by the greats of that era: Peshay, Source Direct, LTJ Bukem and Photek.

Ray & Karl have worked together on a number of projects over the last year, the most recent one being a split 12" on 'The Other Planet' of Lyon. While Ray has been connected to the Lo-Fi House scene and acts like Baltra, DJ Boring and DJ Seinfeld, Karl has been more low-key, producing music that's relaxed and organic, mainly inspired by naature and the musical movement around Frits Wentink and Max Graef.

For this release they worked closely together, decided to stray off their usual paths and combined their different styles to form a well-rounded record.
'Make Me Feel So Good' does just what its name implies. With a rising pad chord, a syncopated break and a soothing vocal, it is the perfect opener for this vinyl.
The second and name-giving track of this EP, 'Project Chicago', samples the surely most-often heard piece of Brian Eno and transforms it to a relaxing yet uplifting track that takes you back to the days where you could easily make a cup of tea while you waited for a website to load.

The B-side unfolds with the most acute drum-programming on this release and a fairylike lead vocal, moving you to 'Feel It'.

To conclude this 4-tracker, Karl delivers a very interesting mix of organic Arps and nature sounds and punchy breaks. The deep subbass-line will resonate through your whole once you hear this one on the dancefloor.

Arctic Music presents Venera.

Venera is a deep emotional title adding further shelflife to the growing Arctic Music catalogue. Searing guitars, keys and chime moods escalate over sharp breaks Alaska style.

Arctic Foundations's Criterion makes a welcome return on the flipside featuring Kiyomi Grounds on vocals. A small twist alongside the original intense Amen breaks with a longer 9 minute digital excursion.

Jungle/Breakcore legends Deformer are back with another horror infused release: 'The Living Dead Deformed'. Deformer is known for putting the shock into electronic music and pushing the horror experience to another level. During their shows they cut off limbs and intestines are thrown into the audience while the extreme music turns the crowd into raging freaks. 'The Living Dead Deformed' pays hommage to one of the biggest horrorfilm classics of all time: 'Night of the living dead' (1968) and its creators.

The record was produced before the unfortunate passing of George A. Romero. Out of respect, Deformer chose put out the record as a non-profit, limited edition, numbered by hand, green coloured vinyl release. The amazing cover art is created by legendary visual artist Graham Humphreys (A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Evil Dead, Poltergeist).

'The Living Dead Deformed' is dark, menacing and will again turn parties into moshpits.

A bit of an emotional moment for us - this much needed repress of one of our very favourite slabs of vinyl that have passed through these doors over the years. Exploring the very outer limits of dancehall and techy D&B, both sides writhe and snarl at 90bpm, beating you over the head with pressure cooked kick drums, drop forged snares and, those ugly, ugly mentasms. Upon it's original release, it was a challenging and very rewarding record - one that had DJs scratching their heads, dancers demanding wheelups and, more recently - more than a few emails from people asking if there were any copies left stashed away. Both side's disregard for genres and conventions mean this plate sounds just as fresh now as it did upon it's original release date - arguably it's better stationed for tactical deployment now than it was back in 2013 - The current crop of stripped back dancehall (and halftime D&B that has been undoubtedly informed by it) are in rude health and prime for disruption with this record. That said, regardless of which styles you play - this is one of those wildcard riddims that can be used at peak time to wreak havoc on any dancefloor. Blacklabel, sticker sealed pressure, with a yellow paper insert of the original artwork. One of those records you'll pull off the shelf in years to come, no doubt about it. Edition of 300, with insert and stickered centre labels.

7th Storey Projects are delighted to announce an immediate return for Fushara to our label following the success of his previous release with us (Ascension/Nerve, cat number 7TH 12018, released October 2017).

Consistent with his previous output, this release contains two epic tracks which evoke the themes of industrial and urban decay which permeate much of his work.

We've found it hard to put the music into words, suffice to say they are true breakbeat fueled, sonic journeys that feature razor-sharp drum programming and foreboding atmospherics - a must for any jungle/dnb head with a penchant for their music thoughtful, dark and moody.

Fushara aka Thushara Goonewardene is a London based electronic musician working with breakbeats, samples and synthesiser. A constant theme for his music is urban decay. From the late 90's Fushara has been involved with the London scene as a raver, DJ, and Producer. He has produced experimental work for labels such as Pineconemoonshine, MJAZZ and more recently Scientific Recordings. In 2015 he set up an imprint Lone Foundation to showcase experimental bass music collaborating with DAAT and others. More recently he has made a return to work with breakbeat collaborating with Infest for one of his tracks on his debut on Criterion Records and has signed to Flex Recordings for a forthcoming EP.
