Natural Hi's 'Fame' is made available for the first time on 7' with Radio Edits by Sean P. The real deal spirit of London's underground Brit-Funk sound from early-80s until now. A rare find, Sean P credits his friend Winston as the person who told him about the record. "He brought it in the record shop where I was working in Camden" says Sean. "I could see it was a British twelve. At first the vocal didn't sound like a UK artist but I couldn't identify the music as being American or from anywhere else. There was something about it that just didn't go away and it stuck." Officially licensed and remastered onto a bright as day loud 7" cut.

Introducing Andy Ordoñez, a young drummer and singer native to the cultural nexus of New York City that is The Bronx. The crucible of the NYC melting pot is a fitting base for this rising musician, who was born to Honduran parents of Garifuna decent and raised in the musically rich and diversified Central American neighborhoods of the northernmost borough. At the early age of 13, Ordoñez joined his father Bodoma and his touring Garifuna Cultural Band, themselves well-recognized artists in the Garifuna communities of the Caribbean and the US, communities that all trace their lineage toAfrican survivors of human cargo ships wrecked off the island of St. Vincent around 1675.Ordoñez forged his part in this evolving history while also cutting his musical teeth performing and practicing a legacy comprised of a historic blend of African and Caribbean culture arising through centuries-deep Garifuna heritage. It's another example of an incredibly varied and mixed upbringing that happens all around us in New York City, an essential but often unobserved contribution to the larger communities we inhabit.

On his debut vinyl release for Names You Can Trust, Ordoñez has transformed this base of folkloric drumming, a bedrock of parranda and punta rhythms, along with the distinctive sound of the primero drum (its snare-like punch coming from metal wires wrapped around the drumhead), and fused it with a contemporary blend of Caribbean-style synths and guitars to create a new and totally unheard-of evolution that lies somewhere in the echoes of Cabo Verde, Haiti and Ordoñez's Central American roots.

"Funky Way" was comped on Down In The Valley 2, but since it's a killer track it deserved a re-issue on 45! Backed with a sweet soul tune titled "New Love".

He penned proper anthems in Italy's post-war melodic tradition. Amongst his large and varied oeuvre, in 1977-1978 he composed and recorded the original soundtrack for the skin flick 'Disposta A Tutto'

Dub echo, hip-hop lyricism and heavy guitar fuzz are boiled down into a heady, characteristic musical brew.

On “Dreaming Is Dead Now”, multi-talented wonder Skinny Pelembe meditates on grief, heartache, stunted aspirations and fresh possibilities in post-recession Britain. For his debut album, the Johannesburg-born, Doncaster-raised artist weaves together a patchwork of personal and musical touchstones; memories and observations are dreamily laced together, sun-dazzled California folk diced with the murkier corners of the UK dance lineage.

Tipping a hat to West London broken beat as much as My Bloody Valentine, the album was co-produced by Malcolm Catto (of The Heliocentrics, who’s previously worked with Yussef Kamaal, DJ Shadow, and Madlib), who helped to distil down its bounty of ingredients into the record’s distinctive flavour. Tough, tight-programmed rhythms are washed over with fuzzy overtures, and the title track is the product of a studio session with a foundational drum & bass duo (credited under the covert alias of The Bleeding Edge). It’s the rare kind of record where the messy, in-between musical spaces are given a light to shine.

First discovered through the Gilles Peterson- and Brownswoodfounded Future Bubblers programme, Skinny has since made it onto Peterson’s iconic Brownswood Bubblers compilation series, performed and collaborated with fellow Future Bubbler Yazmin Lacey, and been tipped by the likes of Ghostpoet and James Lavelle. Praise has also come from The Observer, The Quietus and Huck, with previous singles “Spit / Swallow” and “I Just Wanna Be Your Prisoner” bumped up onto heavy rotation on BBC 6 Music’s A-List. Aussteiger is a Berlin based German DJ / Producer. He runs the Dub Disco label in Berlin and DJ's around the world. Zusammenkunft is his debut album released on Copenhagen's Music For Dreams. Once upon a time a golden boy came back from the shadows. Rumors were told that he once left the big city in a time where the music scene and clubs were dominated by cold music and average beats. He left behind civilisation, living withdrawn in the woody mountains of a covert place. From there on people talked about him as Aussteiger. Connected to the nature and deeply rooted in the harmonic essence, Aussteiger became a part of the great whole. In a full moon illuminated clear night while experimenting with various unique herbs he accidentally found a recipe to create warm and ravishing music. He firmly believes that music is his infinite source to gather strength and positive energy After years of strengthening himself and shaping vibrant sounds Aussteiger decided to share his delightful music with the world. He returned from his retreat in order to enchant the music lovers all over the world with his feel good approach and supernatural sounds. Building on the already incredible collection of music so far released on Francis Harris' Kingdoms imprint, Emil Abramyan returns with the stunning 'Movement' album. Abramyan is a Brooklyn based composer, musician, and producer, whose work traverses various styles and disciplines. In this release Emil shares his unique perspective by bringing together his conservatory training as a cellist and his love of electronic music and sound design. Having played the cello on every Francis Harris album, Abramyan now expands his repertoire by playing every instrument, including cello, piano, and electronics. Beginning with 'Flightplan', the album lifts off in sublime fashion. Brooding cellos combine with pianos before subtle rhythms unfold and introduce themselves. 'Winter's' skittering rhythm is combined with pizzicato melodies, clicks and modular synth flurries. Showcasing his versatility, 'Foolky' is a more dance floor oriented cut - a highly percussive groove unfolds and carries along a variety of instrumentation. 4_24 also makes use of shuffling, percussive grooves layered with drone sounds, and more of Abramyan's signature cello.'Fever' sees the brooklynite heading in a more obviously ambient direction, building atmosphere with a mixture of close mic'd experimentation, and beautiful choral fragments.Rounding off this release, label boss Francis Harris reworks 'Flightplan', finding new nuances in the sublime atmosphere, and slowly building up to a subtle, understated groove that takes the track to a different place entirely.

Growing up with these tunes and owning them I began to realise if someone didn't represent them to the next generation they would be long lost and forgotten. So please... enjoy this time capsule of music from another time... you'll hear nothing's changed!

Manana presents a new remix EP bringing together some essential re-works of Sound Species and Ache Meyi's collaboration recordings.
Originally recorded in 2016 in Santiago de Cuba during the lead-up to the Manana Festival in the city, the original sessions were an inspired fusion of Ache Meyi's deep folkloric Afro-Cuban styles with Sound Species' subtle electronic touches. The new re-works have attracted some familiar names from clubland: broken beat don IG Culture keeps the roots of 'Ogún Meyi Meyi' intact with a bass-heavy, percussive attack; brilliant UK drummer and producer Tom Skinner strips back 'Egrem Bata Jam' on a pulsing new version; Chicago legend Ron Trent creates a more melodic dancefloor re-work of 'Alina's Calypso' while Sound Species themselves beef up the original Afro-Haitian rhythms of the same track for a dubbier treatment.

After their success of their single 'Smile' which was the theme song of warner brothers movie 'High Society' and placed on different commericals this Neo-Funk duo release it´s first debut album with a lot of 80s boogie and funk tunes. Featuring cali rappers King Tee, MC Eiht, Fresh Daily, Chuuwee and vocalists Benny Sings, JATA & NEEON. The LA/Berlin based funkduo is executive produced by Shuko the man behind different production of artists like The Clipse, Lee Fields, Snoop Dogg, B-Real and many more. "It´s a fact" with Benny Sings is also exclusively available on this limited 300 Vinyl edition with 12 tracks full of good old memories from the 80s funk era with a little modern twist of hiphop and which makes 'Night Cruise' the perfect soundtrack for some city rides at midnight.

The Groove Chronicles is the second solo album release of Bouklas and his very first on vinyl.

The album is based mainly on Soul and Funk samples, chopped, flipped and pitched up by Bouklas and filled with his characteristic Boom Bap beats, giving an extra funkiness on this particular work. Bouklas has clearly been influenced by Gramatik on this LP and he took it to the next level by having some strong international guests on board.
The album includes the rapper INTeLL, son of U-God from the legendary Wu-Tang Clan, Mic Bles, a respected underground Hip-Hop MC from California, DJ Groove Sparkz from Lyon, the 3xDMC French Champion, IDA Vice World Champion and official tour DJ of L’Entourloop and the French vocalists, Cam & Nelly. Furthermore, there are featurings from talented local Greek artists, the vocalists Martzi and Alida SoulMama and the Turntablist DJ Moya, one of the best Scratch DJs in Greece.
The Groove Chronicles will be released on vinyl by the label Mind The Wax on May 2019 and includes 12 tracks.
Bouklas has been active on the Hip-Hop scene as an MC and a producer since 2002 with more than 10 independent projects to date. As a producer, Bouklas has collaborated with some of the most important names in the Greek Hip-Hop scene as well as with the rap veteran Masta Ace, Freddie Gibbs and the Grind Mode Cypher.
Furthermore, Bouklas has shared the stage with international artists such as the R.A. The Rugged Man, Dead Prez, Afu-Ra, Freestyle (of Arsonists), Foreign Beggars, Dope D.O.D., Killa Kela and DJ Vadim & Yarah Bravo.

Pingipung and Future Nuggets present Cosima, a Bucharest based artist, with two wonderfully poignant songs. Cosima Opa^rtan is widely known as one half of "Raze de Soare" (Future Nuggets). As a solo artist, she files her music under the genre widow pop - melancholically reaching out to the past and the future in one gesture. She sings like someone addressing a beloved but faraway audience, or a trusted, distant relative who can only be seen through someone else's description. Cosima has a background as an architect which she shifted to designing sonic treatments for various spaces such as sound studios. She is also a founding member of the Queer Night, a series of itinerant parties engaging the local LGBTQ+ community and part of Corp., a Bucharest based platform dedicated to supporting and promoting female & female identified musical talent. "Ploaia" has been co-composed and produced by Ion Dumitrescu, known to all Pingipung afficionados for his 7inch as Ion Din Dorobanti (Pingipung 056) who also runs the never failing Future Nuggets label. On the flip side, the two team up with Horatiu Serbanescu, an artist from the Future Nuggets roster releasing music as "Plevna".

The  Hammond organist’s classic 1968 album. His second record for Blue Note. Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, on 23rd July 1968. Produced by Blue Note co-founder Francis Wolff. Featuring an all-star unit including Lee Morgan (trumpet), David ‘Fathead’ Newman (tenor sax) and Melvin Sparks (guitar). Kicks off with the hard-driving Hugh Masekela composition ‘Song Of Ice Bag’, and continues with a take on ‘Three Blind Mice’, a brilliant version of the title track, made famous by Aretha Franklin, and two more Latin-tinged Smith originals (‘ The Call Of The Wild’, ‘Slouchin’’). Includes liner notes written by Rhett Evers.

Sanctuary Lakes present their debut, self-titled album, out 21 June on Cutters Records. It is a new project featuring members of Cut Copy and Midnight Juggernauts, forged out of lo fi folk psychedelia, instrumental library records and delicate electronic sounds.

Opaque soundscapes forged from fluid basslines, aqueous guitar, naturalist field recordings and vague incantations, the Sanctuary Lakes sound values feeling over form, intention over intellect, imagination over the explicit, a faded watercolour image offering an ocean of interpretation in which to swim.

Borne in Brooklyn during idle time improvising in front of the meditation station on television, Tim Hoey sent rough sketches of his noodling to Andy Szekeres in Melbourne, initially to see what his old friend made of them. Beyond merely offering feedback, Szekeres went ahead and added to the songs, initiating a workflow than became an almost wordless conversation between the two, as files drifted back and forth with the currents until deemed done.

Arrangements are left loose, choruses never come - or that’s all there is, extended instrumental passages emphasise atmosphere over action, and field recordings of the channel whisper low in the mix. Production across the album has a gently edgeless, soft-focus feeling akin to being submerged in a boundless body of water, at once engulfing and instinctively comforting.

As two musicians with years and albums of experience under their belts, Sanctuary Lakes came together during a period of reflection and faint anxiety that their best ideas might be behind them. Work on the album acted as a form of therapy and confirmed that the stream of creativity still runs strong.

Kate Tempest returns with her third studio album, The Book of Traps and Lessons.

The highly anticipated album was crafted with Rick Rubin and Dan Carey over the course of the past five years. It follows Tempest’s previous releases, 2014’s Everybody Down and 2017’s Let Them Eat Chaos, both of which were shortlisted for Mercury Prize in 2014 and 2017, respectively. Last year, Kate Tempest was nominated at The BRIT Awards for Best Female Solo Performer.

A handful of words often tell you everything you need to know. When asked, who is Kate Tempest? She gives a brief, albeit telling answer. “Kate Tempest is the words,” she responds. You haven’t ever seen, heard, or experienced anyone quite like her. Tempest uncovers the missing link between the Golden Ages of literature and hip-hop. The London-born BRIT Award-nominated spoken word artist, rapper, poet, novelist, and playwright rhymes with a century-turning fury. Since her emergence in 2011, she has redefined what it means to be a wordsmith in the Modern Age. To date, she has published three poetry collections, staged three plays, and released two studio albums. Along the way, she entranced audiences on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, NPR’s “Tiny Desk,” and more. Not to mention, she garnered widespread critical acclaim from The New York Times, The New Yorker, Forbes, and more, to name a few. In the midst of this whirlwind journey, she performed a passage of her popular 75-minute narrative poem, Brand New Ancients, on Charlie Rose. Legendary producer and American Recordings Founder Rick Rubin caught the show, tracked down her phone number, and made a call. This set a series of events in motion that led to her 2019 debut album for American Recordings, The Book of Traps and Lessons, set for release on June 14th.

Brooklyn-based label and sound system collective Dub-Stuy prepares for the summer with a brand new EP alongside Jahdan Blakkamoore, who first appeared on the label’s “Pool Party” single back in 2014 and again in 2017 on Von D’s Wicked Scam EP. This time around Jahdan is front and center, flexing the creativity and versatility that has kept him at the cutting edge of Jamaican music for more than two decades: whether collaborating with hip-hop icons like Smiff-N-Wessun and Snoop Dogg or with global bass providers such as Major Lazer, Liondub and Dutty Artz (who first introduced Jahdan and Dub-Stuy!).

The Linkage EP is a family affair, born after Jahdan and Dub-Stuy connected for a gig in Montreal in December 2018. The energy and vibrations from their performance that night inspired both parties to discuss a new label project. Soon enough, Dub-Stuy had sent Jahdan a pack of dancefloor-minded riddims and beats crafted by in-house producer DJ Madd. Within a few days, Jahdan locked himself up in a studio, writing and recording the five songs that make up the EP in a burst of creativity. Dub-Stuy then enlisted Bay Area based producer Kush Arora to mix the tracks, putting the finishing touches to a showcase of deft songwriting and melody-driven singing that has made Jahdan a favorite of many.

On “Absolutely” and “Properly” Jahdan celebrates the fun and vibes of a good session, switching effortlessly between singing with an irresistible lilt to rapid-fire lyrics against revamps of two timeless dancehall riddims - “Hot Milk” and “African Beat.” The results are surefire party starters! “Sort Out” taps out a syncopated skanking riddim to keep the dance going while the rest of the EP addresses more serious themes with Jahdan reaching for the deeper parts of his range. The hip-hop infused “Round of Applause” reflects on everyday struggles, and the EP’s namesake track “The Linkage” draws for deeper bass as Jahdan calls for unity.

country, Mali, would host the world-famous football event Africa Cup of
Nations in 2002. The balafon virtuoso immediately decided to seize the
opportunity and create a national anthem for the competition. More power to
him: what happened after is nothing short of legendary.
Twenty years later, Can 2002 is still a hit, often heard in African nightclubs,
radios, and professional football team training sessions. Neba has to play the
song every time he’s on stage, and people stop him in the street to talk about
it all over the world.

So for Volume Seven of the Under The Influence series Winston has included tracks taking in soul, funk, disco & boogie with many of the tracks costing hundreds if you were able to find the originals. As always with ZR compilations a lot of time and effort has been spent on creating these masters from the original vinyl, cleaning them up, removing all the clicks and pops resulting in the cleanest sounding copy possible.

Following on the heels of the hugely successful Joaquin Joe Claussell Edits & Overdubs Lenny Williams Changes 12” comes another soulful disco 12” monster taken from the eagerly awaited forthcoming Joaquin Joe Clausell’s Edits & Overdubs
Part 2 Double CD + Limited 7” Vinyl coming September 2019. Served up this Nme is another dope Joaquin Joe Claussell Edit & Overdub of the not overly played soulful disco classic Ntled “Come Go with Me” by Pockets. Come Go with Me is an album cut that was never releases on a 12” and is another example of album songs that were a favorite at the Claussell family’s home growing up. This is destined to be another Unofficial Edits & Overdubs Classic.
Due to the winding, down of record sales during the summer months, this will be a Limited Release.
