Once again Sa Bat' Machines invites you to a travel... A very musical EP here offering some psychedelic synths meeting up with saxophones with Seven, the first tune... Second track invites you to a more Folktronic dubstep trip, a bit in the STEPPAS Records spirit. The flip opens with a pure Dub groover, sweet and bassy, offering a tune at the frontier to be a powerfull riddim... The EP finishes on a short Klez track, electroswing killer !

In 1978, Seattle funk group Epicentre recorded the infectious boogie wonder: 'Get Off The Phone', written by the group's keyboardist, Stacy Christenson, with Bernadette on lead vocals. The song was featured on a compilation at the time, KYYX:FM Seattle Grown, but never got released on a 45.
Fast forward three years, there was another call to make! Bernadette met Stevie Wonder and formed a lifelong friendship, prospective recordings were made, including a re-recording of 'Get Off The Phone'. Until now it has been locked away, therefore we are thrilled to bring the two versions together on a 7'' single, authentically packaged in a picture sleeve.

"Mark IV under the tutelage of Roy C released one great album on Mercury Records in 1973 before being dropped by the label. This change in fortunes brought forward partners Otis Brown Jr and Donald Shaw to take over from Roy with the management of the group between 1974-78. The songs featured on this album were all recorded during these years and had sat on reel to reel tapes gathering dust until 2017 when a partnership was forged between Otis, Donald & Cordial Recordings to release them. We hope that you enjoy listening to this album as much as we have had since first listening to the original demo tapes. Time to 'make room for the Mark IV' again Julian!"
Cordial Recordings are proud to announce the release of our first album on Vinyl & CD with this collection of previously unreleased songs by Mark IV. The songs have been remastered to provide full listening experience. The CD comes with two bonus songs. The vinyl & CD release have been limited to 500 copies each. The vinyl sleeve has been printed on luxury heavyweight board. The CD has been printed as a 4pp Digipak with clear tray on luxury heavyweight board.

Cordial Recordings are happy to introduce the extremely talented Harlem based Preachermann to our family with his debut release on vinyl. 'Familiar To Me' is the song that helped to kick start the label nearly four years ago, but we were waiting for the right time to release this uptempo soulful inspirational piece of work on vinyl. The right time being that we now have an album recorded by Preachermann and this will be released in 2019. 'Familiar To Me' was recorded in New York with the highly respected Fred Ones at the production desk. 'Lucky' on the B side is the demo version of a song that was recorded in London earlier this year. Preachermann is an exciting new prospect that is expected to blow up in 2019!

The Edwards Generation were a San Francisco family group that were lead by Chuck Edwards, who was the father of the group members. Chuck had been a recording artist since the 50s and had recorded for labels such as Duke, Kapp and Apollo before establishing the Edwards Generation as a force in Frisco during the 1970s. Their one and only album 'The Street Thang,' which was released in 1976, is a much revered and sought after album by serious soul collectors across the globe. We will be releasing an album of unreleased songs in 2019, but in the meantime we have the groups first vinyl release since 1977 with the uptempo dancer 'I Like Your Style' on the A Side, This version will not feature on the album and is only available on this single release. Whilst on the flip we've got the only song from our album that features their father Chuck on lead vocals with the Motownesque 'The Love I Found In You.' The Edwards Generation were a talent that deserved a greater exposure and with this we're happy to be partnering with them in releasing their unreleased gems.

Amsterdam-based producer and DJ William Djoko has announced his new EP 'Whiplash', on his brand new imprint, DJOKO.
His latest release follows the critically acclaimed reception of his stomping single 'OMG' on seminal New York house label Strictly Rhythm in 2017, a feature on the lead release from Loco Dice's Love Letters LP and a remix of Cassius on Ed Banger last year. Whiplash EP is self-released on his newly incepted label, Djoko, an independent platform for William to showcase his fluid, eclectic and continually evolving style as a producer.
The four-track selection varies in style and tempo, from the motoric, muscular groove of dancefloor weapon Whiplash, to the funk-inflected disco house jam Bernice, whilst rooted within his distinctive synthesizer and drum-heavy blueprint. Whiplash features vocals recorded by William himself, in his own words: "Everytime you feel down and out WHIPLASH/ Everytime you wanna go out WHIPLASH/ Everytime the money's out WHIPLASH".

Hyperjazz Records is the product of the ever-changing language that is modern music, of its frantic and unrestrained evolution. A crossroads between past and present, and where jazz attitude meets new sounds and aesthetics.
HJ is the brainchild of Raffaele Costantino, known internationally for his meteoric rise under the moniker DJ Khalab, but known also for being a committed exponent of black and electronic music in his own country. Together with his friends and collaborators, and counting on a strong network both in Italy and abroad (Worldwide FM, BBC, NTS, Bandcamp), the DJ/producer/radio presenter (Musical Box, Rai Radio2) has given life to Hyperjazz, the result of two years of planning, reflection and research.
The Word Was Made Phresh is the name of Phresoul's new album, out on March 22nd on Hyperjazz Records. Seven instrumental tracks, tight and essential, which bring into sharp focus the talent and versatility of one of recent years' most interesting groups in the jazz, hip-hop, and alternative-rock scenes. The new project by the trio, which is one third English and two thirds Italian, formed by Charlie Stacey (piano, fender rhodes, synthesizer), David Paulis (double-bass) and Enrico Truzzi (drums), dismantles jazz's traditional rules, absorbs influences and contemporary sounds and portrays with lucid irony the contradictions and conflicts of our times. This record comes two years after their debut Metempsychosis, and solidifies Phresoul's sound, where noise-rock improvisations coexist with neo-psychedelia, abstract hip-hop and space-jazz.
Just like in 'Monitor Lizard,' a syncopated piece which introduces us with immediacy to an energetic jazz interference, able to capture a single moment, moving as rapidly as a reptile, never in straight lines. The melancholy beats of 'Institutional Violence' punctuate the piano's melody, which slowly transforms into synth and the futuristic slow-funk of 'Sphere Alliance,' anticipating the accelerated beginnings and pauses of 'Lithium,' an undoubtedly hip-hop jazz 3.0 track. The liquid atmospheres and irregular drumming of 'Hipster Antichrist' bring to a close with amused hysteria this rhythmic ellipsis which looks at the West with melancholy and little confidence ('Trump-Pence').
The tension built by the continuous changes in rhythm is released in the torrential 'Blended Family,' in which Stacey's keys progressively conquer space between the noise-guitar and the powerful and irregular beats of drum'n'bass, for an epilogue to a fresh and original record that is inspired equally in its inception and its execution.

Back in 2015 we released the Pantherkatze for the very first time on our limited Social Sounds From Planet Dub CD. First time we listened to that monstrous tune by T-Jah and Kuriooki, we instantly felt in love with it. Surely we knew, if we ever start a label, this tune gonna be one of our first releases. We infected the two dubheads from Chemnitz with this idea.
Now, for our second vinyl release we can present to you a brand new version from that already classic Pantherkatze tune, which enters the gate with some rumbling basslines, hypnotizing skanks and nuff dubwise business. Dangerous like the path of a black panther, this tune surely makes it to any soundsystem session this summer. If the heavy T-Jah & Kuriooki tune is not enough for you, you'll find a killer version on the flipside by another german dub don called Jah Schulz, who already mashed some baldheads with his great releases on Railroad Records.

Number 12 in the cassette series for the Altered Soul Experiment collective. This time the Australian selector Lauren Hanson mixes up their new episode. TIP!!
Some words from the label:
Next to grace the ever soul and funk-oozing reels of Altered Soul Experiment, Australian-born Amsterdam-based DJ Lauren Hansom clocks in on Amila's imprint following a noteworthy appearance on his NTS show last year, plus a stream of top-shelf contributions to the waves of Red Light Radio. Taking good care of ASE's twelfth number, Lauren delivers an hour and a half-long sonic odyssey that spans across graceful downtempo reliefs and languid art-rock curves, meditative exotica and enticing synth-pop terrains. True to her sense of subtle liaison and non-formulaic offbeat dynamism that have become trademarks of her sets, Hansom confirms her unique status as one of the most respected and steadily impressive voices in our world's new wave of vinyl-slinging selectors.
Flowing through the multiple aesthetic veins she keeps delving in with equal poise and panache, life itself speaks out - and the many changes that accompanied her change of landscape, from Sydney to Amsterdam - "moving home, people leaving, new people, adventures, uncertainty, surprise", et al. Imagine staring at the slo-scudding clouds and the abstract drawings of long-haul planes' vapour trails listening to this, trying to map the distance that cuts trajectories apart and joins seemingly splitting lanes together again. "It is the journey of life and my life as it seems; it is through music and through this tape that I can share with you some of those moments that have gone by. I hope with this, you can step into my mind, my world and take the journey with me."

Rudie will recognise Bobby Sarkie from The Tartans and The Immortals (not to mention his solo roots killer Better World). His singing here is expertly reined in by desolation, numbness and regret, over a hollowed-out, mesmeric rhythm, with some nasty synth-work and casually brilliant effects on the drums. The vocal cut is more than a minute longer than the version which opens the Jah Son Invasion album with such a flourish; and the mix is different, with more prominent keys, and toned-down bass. It's previously unreleased, like the dub.The B-side is booby-trapped with sensational instrumental excursions on Junior Delahaye's Working Hard For The Rent Man and Jackie Mittoo's almighty Drum Song, which conclude the same original tape-reel as Over And Over. Rent Rebate features masterful, boppish soprano saxophone-playing by Roland Alphonso, and restrained guitar interjections by Barry Vincent, with a Spanish tang. The superb hand-drumming on Mount Zion is by Ras Menelik; and it's Mittoo himself on organ (or just maybe Clive Hunt, Wackies can't quite remember).

Esencia is proud to present Forgotten Ones, the new album from London based quintet Culross Close. The album opens with 'Fractured', a cosmic musing carried delicately by electric piano and decorated with a synthesized dalliance. The album then cruises into 'Forgotten Ones', a spiritual made potent by their choral-esque vocals by far their most accomplished piece to date.
'Acceptance' finds the quintet in familiar hip-hop territory, carving out a top tier groove with a recurring piano motif of the highest order. Their vocals, this time more chant than choral makes for a brilliant 5-minute mantra.
'Mood' is a stark contrast to anything else on the album, an acidic and rugged illustration of the group's present state. 'The Tiniest Lights Still Shine' is a syncopated excursion in 5/4 time. With an electrifying percussion solo, this will be the song that finds its way onto the dance-floor. 'Healing' is a percussion heavy journey, draped in synthesizers and style, embodying elements of 70's fusion and bossa-nova, a perfect closer to the album.

South Londons Henry Wu makes his HoTep debut with the Negotiate Ep, his most comprehensive release to date.
Spanning five cuts the Ep journeys through loose soulful grooves, dusty fingered beats and bumpy analog house. Bringing that redlight, basementality throughout, title track 'Just Negotiate' featuring Simeon Jones on vocals moves above street level, adding bitter sweet dancefloor/radio vibes to proceedings.
On the whole.... Some abstract jazz type sh*t!

Providenciales Records proudly presents its first release, a reissue of Children of The
Earth by the band Nimbus, independently released in 1980 in the USA, and including an
exclusive track from their second recording session (only available digitally), "You're
Everything To Me".
The band, made up of 4 friends, used to play jazz and soul music at bars in Detroit, when
they decided, in 1979, to record an album gathering compositions of a couple of band
members. They gave birth to Children of The Earth, a sophisticated and melodious album,
with a pinch of AOR, a relish of modern-soul, but also some jazz and folk influences. "Baby
You Know" or "Nezarai" give a groovy dimension to the album, whereas "Hold Me Close" or
"What You Mean to Me" are more laid-back tracks. 'You're Everything To Me', the digital
bonus track of this reissue, which comes from a another recording session, was previously
unreleased.
With less than 1,000 copies pressed and sold locally, the band didn't have the chance to
reach a broad audience until recently. In the past few years, Bill (bassist of Nimbus)
received dozens of emails from collectors around the globe (Japan, USA, France, UK,
Netherlands...) asking for a copy of it.
500 copies pressed, fully remastered by the Carvery (London, UK), and licensed from Bill Capsalis for

If 2018's WOLFEP046 touched on the burgeoning talent of rising Portuguese star Pedro, this 2019 follow-up delves deep into the accomplished head that rests on those youthful shoulders.
Opening the EP, 'She is' gives a taste of the path Pedro takes with this record. A ten-minute twisting trip, that moves and melds modern jazz leanings with a rugged aesthetic. Off kilter sax flurries, at times gleaming, at others melting, open up the distorted dreams of Pedro's world, as a metronomic double bass attempts to steady the ship. Metallic rides and abrupt percussive hits contrast with the sustained piano chords, further foraging down his surrealist sidewalk.
Take to the flip to find the waltzing 'Faces sob o sol'. A beatless contemporary jazz piece in 3/4 time, where deft piano melodies dance around a looped up, muted guitar phrase and twanging riffs. A simplicity born from only a handful of layers, that in turn creates a free-flowing fluidity through this jazz rabbit hole.
The most club ready of the cuts, 'Alef' rolls around next, where a funked out bass and psychedelic strummings, marry with crisp cymbals and polished piano playing. Pedro's dream inducing trip still takes its hold though, with distorted, panning, hallucinogenic vocal cries swelling across the airwaves.
Stepping up to close out the EP, Moomin flips 'Faces sob o sol' on its head, laying a rough and ready, liquid DnB rhythm as the basis alongside adding delicate arps and sweeping, atmospheric pads that follow Pedro's original. As hypnotising as its forebearer, but with an ethereal dancefloor orientated radiance.
With hundreds of new producers cropping up, week by week, it's rare to be challenged by something of such high quality from an up-and-coming artist. And with jazz finding a new lease of life across the UK, Pedro's latest output will be sure to find a home on these shores.

Harbans had played with the popular disco/funk band The JALN Band.
Frank played with the Cissy Stone Band who had a great following.
Steve and Mark were in a popular jazz/rock/funk outfit called Pzazz.
Jaki was singing in various bands and drawing a great deal of attention, of course we all know she went on to some great pop success.
These songs were recorded sometime around the 1980's, during that explosive time of uk jazz funk, where it had a massive following up and down the country.

Started out as a reggae, lovers rock band in the late 70's, The Cool Notes consolidated their reputation in the 80s, after turning towards more soulful sounds and have signed different hits, all finished straight into the upper parts of the charts. "I Wanna Dance" and "Blown It" released for the Sour Grape label owned by Patrick Mulpeter and Danny Ryan, both former member of the band Gold, are two gems inexplicably left in the shadows, but as often happens, later appreciated as essential spins, in the selection of champion DJs.

Project 001 is an 8 track album with a singular sound; Dark and tormented. Tommy Jacob oscillates between electrifying notes and deep bass, for a melancholic and poignant result. Project 001 is both a true introspection and also an endless quest for the other. Tommy Jacob transcribes a unique vision through a captivating universe. Driven by the desire to return to a consumption of music as he knew when he was younger: «At the time I bought CDs and listened to them in loop until I knew them by heart, I did not know the song titles for me it was just track 1, track 2 etc.

NYC's Disco powerhouse West End Records should need no intro. The home of too-numerous-to-list club classics for over 30+ years is still impacting today on what we know to be club culture. The label started by one Mel Cheren (RIP) with assistance from Larry Levan and more way back in 1976 is still held in such high regard today with it's catalogue constantly being played, rediscovered, reinterpreted and loved by waves and waves of new fans and admirers.
'The West End story Vol. 4' is an essential overview of this most iconic of labels and some of it's more 'under the radar' output, following on it's from it's predecessor the quality bar is obviously set extremely high, one only has to look over the tracklist to see the names and titles that are included! Rare and overlooked cuts from Sparque, Debbie Trusty, Barbara Mason, Ednah Holt and more make up 4 joyous sides of essential forward looking post Disco classics - We're talking late 70's, early 80's, synths, mega overdubs, left-field arrangements and anything and everything in-between.
A truly golden era of dance music history, names like Tom Moulton, Tom Savarese and more make up some of the talent featured on this flawless selection of goodies. Oh, and for the record (no pun intended) these are all the extended mixes, 12" versions and special cuts, all killer - no filler! All tracks featured re-mastered, re-pressed and re-released with the permission of and in conjunction with West End Records, New York City / BMG.

Like a family tale, a compilation is a history where we tell our similarities and our differences. More than two years after the release of .WAVE the la- bel has grown, new encounters have given birth to a musical color always richer with various influences.
.WAVE II is revealed through 17 titles by the artists and close to the label, FKJ, Darius, Kartell, Dabeull, Cézaire, Crayon, Zimmer, Duñe, Plage 84 and more. So many artists who represent the Roche Musique collective orchestra.
Singular and eclectic this second compilation is composed entirely of exclusive pieces, a punctilious music always in the care of the detail.
This opus opens with the sweetness, the piano notes of FKJ, twirling, bring crescendo to the second piece. «Do not forget it» is armed with an Unparalleled groove, Dabeull and Jordan Lee have undoubtedly composed a tube from the 80s. It's the voice of Scarlett Johansson whispering to us in the hollow of the ear, the soft chords of Kartell and Crayon, this track brings together the universe of the two artists, the unstructured meets the rigor of the synths, a perfect match.
We continue on the tunes of «Paradise»; the voice of Nori transports us to high places, Cézaire and Katuchat keep us in levitation between earth and sky, the abrupt and the haunting.
Duñe joins forces with his friend Twenty9 for this fth piece: «Myself» is a beautiful set of hip hop and electronics, the best of both worlds. Leave hip hop aside and keep the electronics and the vaporous spreads, Darius o ers us a celestial piece. His light and recognizable touch leaves us with one word «Ouh». In the continuity it's his friend Kartell that we nd again on a solo production.
«Leste» is catchy, undulating, we hold our breath and ask for more. Without further ado, let us introduce Maydien, native of Amsterdam, mixing cleverly hip hop, rnb and soul in «Is it Real ».
Now we've come to this 9th piece by Katuchat and we have to take a break on «Brain Down» Deep, unstructured, like an rough and imperceptible beauty.
Should we still present Zimmer, his airy house of which he alone has the secret, both dancing and hovering, we move our heads, turned towards the stars. Turn o the light, it's 5 am in Paris, Plage 84 composes an ode to the dawn. A transcendent production, with very marqued jazz in uences, it's the end of an evening, the beginning of a new day, that's where it all starts again. And here comes Dabeull who returns this time with Holybrune : «Ride» is a frenetic race with RnB accents and still this funky tone.
On these same tones, Wantigga chained a «James Davis» with an energy much closer to the Future Bass. Our number 15 comes from an unknown planet, Glasses (formerly half of the duo Saje) sends cap- tivating and indescribable sounds «Alien contact» is literally a musical UFO, transcending musical genres.
.WAVE II closes on the two newcomers of the la- bel Tommy Jacob with «11.11», in a style halfway between the Canadian RnB and electronics.
Pyramid in a very much other colors, gives back to the French Touch its letters of nobility with «W.I.Y.M».

Zimmer's new EP Ceremony unveils the hidden, more melancholic and darker side of the Parisian producer. Inspired by his personal experiences, his multiple trips around the world and driven by the desire to pay tribute to his astrophysicist father, Zimmer explores a broader musical spectrum, navigating between dreamy downtempo and straight up danceloor house. This new record starts Lost Your Mind, carried by the angel like voice of Fhin and a solar guitar. Blending textures and Indian vocals samples, Odysse´e flirts with techno while remaining warm and cosmic. Ceremony ends on Fire, a slo mo number washed out by celestial keyboards and a beautiful steel drum melody. Ceremony, Zimmer's new EP will be available December 16 on Roche Musique. Lost Your Mind is now available.
Following the release of his Ceremony EP on Roche Musique last December, Zimmer reached out to some of his favorites producers for remixes. Roche Musique staple artiste Kartell opens up the release with a slow and majestic rework of Lost Your Mind. Subtle harmonies and celestial keys enlighten the original with a particular sweetness and melancholia. If the Roche Musique sound had to be definited into one track, this could be it. Christian Lo¨ffler follows with his own interpretation of Lost Your Mind. The german producer delivers an experimental deep house remix, his trademark dreamy and organic sound working wonders with Fhin's etheral vocal and guitar. Thomaas Banks, also know as one half of UK duo Psychemagik, delivers a beautiful and creative techno remix of Odysse´e. Dark and thunderous, the track pays tribute to the original's breakdown then evolves into a totally different beast. Finally, Polocorp flips Fire into a breezy and aquatic tune. Side project of Paul from booming French pop duo Polo & Pan, his unique production works wonders on the original's melody and vocal cuts. Blending lush pads, mallets and futuristic synths, the remix is a masterpiece in non- cheesy tropical music. « Ceremony Remixes » EP will be available to public audience on May 19th.

The man, the myth, the legend that is Aldo Vanucci is back with a small black disc of wax for the ages. Yes, it's the very same individual who supplies samples to Fatboy Slim, who was voted Plymouths 14th best DJ and who has undertaken marathon 36 hour DJ sets for charity. Exactly. Yes it's that Aldo Vanucci...
With a vast back catalogue of releases already to his name on respected indie labels including Tru Thoughts, Catskills, Good Groove and his own Good Living Records he has established himself as one of the producers you can trust when it comes to quality.
And this release ahead of his forthcoming album on Jalapeno Records is no exception. The soulful strutter - 'Ponderosa' could have been extracted from a Tarantino movie taking a Morricone-esque score sample and flipping it into a modern slice of driving pop. The powerful top line from Dena Deadly adds some colourful imagery to enhancing the already cinematic sounds.
Flipside 'Knew You Were Coming' fuses an 80's disco boogie groove with a memorable top line that really shows off Mr. Vanucci's DJ credentials. It's a club bomb with enough power to detonate any dancefloor.

Christy Essien was one of the leading female recording artists of her time in Nigeria. She was born in Akwa Ibom State in 1960 and enjoyed an accomplished career as a musician and an actress. Having conquered the music and TV worlds Christy moved on to feature in some of the early Hollywood films such as "Flesh and Blood" and "Scars of Womanhood", both of which addressed issues of child abuse and female circumcision. With a desire to make life better for Nigerian artists. She is also credited as having initiated the first meeting that brought about the formation of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria in 1981.
Dubbed Nigeria's "First Lady Of Song", Christy produced a respectable 9 studio albums across a number of labels. Her fifth album "Give Me A Chance" was released in 1980 by Afrodisia, and is being officially reissued again by the prolific Nigerian label.
"Give Me A Chance" showcases an impressive move on from her last album with a nice amount of variety. Her classic funky disco sound is most evident in what is her most notable song on the album "Rumours". This much sought after disco number is joined by a couple more disco grooves such as "Nobody Can Stop You" and "Onwu". "Ife" meaning love inflicts a little bit of reggae into the mix while the remaining tracks ("Saboteurs", "Don't Let Me Down", "Ikan Idomo" and title track "Give Me A Chance") take more of a traditional afrobeat - meets ballad approach.
Christy died after a brief illness in 2011. Close to the time of her death, she was involved in numerous successful businesses, organization and running the non-governmental organisation Essential Child Care Foundation involved in child welfare. Christy's achievements and awards are numerous. Too numerous to mention. Perhaps her greatest achievement however is her contribution to building a peaceful and tolerant Nigeria - which, alongside moral uprightness, remain constant themes of her songs.

Need some dancefloor action "Get Next To You" gets down to serious bizniz with crisp drums and a catchy hook guaranteed to get the party started.
