On own imprint Jimi Tenor releases a 4 track 7" for Kati Juurus' film Cinema Dadaab. While in the field of Jazz-Funk it has a pinch of avant garde, and more than a little touch & texture of the Middl East. Resembling stady late 60 jazz, but melodically travelling towards psychedelica and most of all eastern tonalities it's a combination of traditional, crafted and compact story telling.

The title track, along with "Love City," "Plastic Jim," "Into My Own Thing" and especially "Dynamite!" signaled a perfect alliance between Sly's multi-influence, far-reaching musical vision and the burgeoning hippie ballroom community, already spreading like lawn daisies throughout the land. Never before had juicily syncopated beats dovetailed so perfectly with distortion-laced rock guitar.

'Let Me Ride / Still D.R.E' is the second 7' single from multiinstrumentalist Sly5thAve's 'The Invisible Man: An Orchestral Tribute To Dr.
Dre' LP. This instalment offers a rework of Dre's notorious 'Let Me Ride' and the timeless 'Still D.R.E'.
The A-Side leads with 'Let Me Ride (feat. Jimetta Rose)' (despite being labelled as Still DRE..) This uplifting arrangement reimagines one of the closest tracks to
Sly5thAve's heart from Dr. Dre's iconic 'The Chronic' album. He explains: 'One of my favorite things about arranging hip-hop/pop music for an orchestra is
the opportunity to build up and take the composition through different worlds that are not completely unrelated but also not readily apparent.' Under his direction,
the undeniably smooth arrangements amplify the lessons in Dre's music which are held at their core. The B-Side holds 'Still D.R.E', Sly5thAve co-opts the timeless hook originally
released on Dr. Dre's '2001' album, amping up the score with guitars, symphonic cymbals and vibrant horn parts. Praising the original, he explains: 'The piano
riff and the production are undeniable'. Sly5thAve strives to find a balance between Dr. Dre's vison and his own interpretation, taking care to fine tune
the musical phrasing his approach pioneers a fresh way to shape the score. 'The challenge on this arrangement was pulling it into a new world that added
something to the original. Hence, the re-harmonized slow intro' Sly5thAve explains. Taken from Sly5thAve's 'The Invisible Man: An Orchestral Tribute To Dr. Dre'
which is already on its third pressing. Label artwork inspired by Dr. Dre's famous Aftermath vinyl designs used on releases by artists such as Dr Dre,
Eminem and many more. Wrongly labelled in a truly old-school style! (SIDE A - Still DRE plays Let Me Ride // SIDE B - Let Me Ride plays Still DRE)
Previous support from tastemakers such as Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson (BBC 6Music) & Jarobi White (A Tribe Called Quest), to Noisey, NPR, and The Fader.

One of the biggest bands of the 2-Tone movement, The Beat are known the world over for a string of hit singles in the 80's including "Mirror in the Bathroom", "Too Nice To Talk To", "Can't Get Used To Losing You", "Hands off She's Mine" and "Best Friend". Fronted by vocalist Ranking Roger, the 2016 band also features Roger's son, Matthew Murphy aka 'Ranking Junior' on vocals with Fuzz Townshend on drums, Andy Pearson and Steve Harper on guitars. They are a band at the top of their game with a dynamic and relentlessly energetic live show and now their loyal fans are finally being treated to a brand new studio album with the first single 'Walking on the Wrong Side' out this Summer. Their fourth and new studio album 'Bounce' - the first in over 30 years - will be released in September this year.
The new album has been written by Ranking Roger and Mick Lister. It has been Produced by Mick Lister (Bad Company, Amy Winehouse, Nina Jayne) and mixed by Tim Hamill, Mick Lister & Dennis Bovell. The album was mastered at Abbey Road Studios and will be released by independent label DMF Records. The Beat formed in Birmingham in 1978, part of the West Midlands ska revival scene that also produced The Specials and The Selecter, whilst London saw the formation of Madness and The Bodysnatchers. Their first single was an arresting version of Smokey Robinson's 'Tears Of A Clown' Released in a one-off deal on Jerry Dammers' Chrysalis-backed 2-Tone label, the single stormed into the Top 10 in December 1979, and saw the band appear twice on Top Of The Pops. Backed by Arista, the band formed their own label Go-Feet Records. The first release in February 1980 was another Top 10 hit, 'Hands Off... She's Mine', and was the first of twelve chart singles for the band on Go-Feet.

t's the utmost honor for Sonar Kollektiv to be in the position to introduce 'Ankhor', the brand new album by Liz Aku. Having recorded all sorts of music with different outfits as well as solo projects over the last fifteen years the Belgian soul singer and highly gifted songwriter definitely earned her stripes and is anything but a newcomer to this game. She seems to have found her own, distinctive voice, after traveling to New Zealand and a far-reaching encounter with Mara TK from Electric Wire Hustle. With 'Ankhor' (a combination of the Egyptian symbol for eternal life 'Ankh' and 'anchor') Aku accomplished a masterpiece of Nu Soul, Jazz and Pop, which will make her join the upper league of the players on the scene. For this cause, several allies and efriended producers have helped her out. With Mara TK leading the way obviously, who co-produced three out of the album's twelve songs. On 'Breathing Underwater' and the sublime, for the whole album groove defining opening song 'The Drum Major Instinct' the native New Zealander duets with Aku
A few years ago, Melodies family members Floating Points and DJ Red Greg got their hands on a couple of original 70s obscurities. While these standout records shone brightly in their own right, the two DJs saw the potential to create their own edits behind the scenes, finely attuning the original versions to modern-day dancefloor standards. Of these new recordings, they cut only five copies for themselves and a few DJ friends of theirs.
Today, Melodies International is very proud to bring you MEL006 and MEL007. Fully licensed, lovingly mastered to the highest possible standards and carefully edited to dial up that dancefloor enjoyment, these two 'You're A Melody' classics weren't originally meant to get official releases. But due to popular request, they are now available to play and share in very special moments at parties around the world.

Kêtu Records started as a project which sells original vinyl discs with the aim of promoting African music of the Golden Age (1960-70). We have developed a large network in Africa to trace these original vinyl discs. We also organize events and sell the discs. Part of the profit is reverted to support local initiatives such as local orchestras, O.N.G. that help disables and schools.
For this first single release, NKOTTI FRANCOIS, great Cameroonian artist of the 70s-80s and still active on the African scene, signs for a reissue of 'MUWASO MWA LONGE' and 'NJA KA'; two amazing titles from the LP Retro 2000.
"What a Vibe" is Payoh SoulRebel's first solo LP under the exclusive production of Cool Up Records, a young record label from Seville (Spain).
What a vibe is a tribute to the Jamaican deep/pure music, what we have grown with, enjoying so. The main style is Reggae Roots, with Rocksteady shapes and early digital from the 80's. The album name is about all the energy that it gives off, from the creation process to the final message that it transmits.
The love to the music, the happiness and the positivity are some of the topics that Payoh SoulRebel sings demonstrating mastery and elegance, through his excellent voice.
The album includes two songs featuring some of the most appealing singers in the Seville's reggae scene, Tunelon Iration and Burian Fyah. Another artist from Seville who appears in the album is Variedub, a reggae producer who has made a unique dub version for the album. In this way, they want to keep and share all the human and musical quality from their hometown.
As usual, in every Cool Up Records work the art has been made by the original and creative Mr John Vanilla, the label's official art director. Who always convey with his illustrations his particular point of view on the project, in this occasion with the assistance of Delvina McKinson.

No Nuclear War is the final album by the Jamaican musician Peter Tosh, known for being one of the core members of the Bob Marley backing band The Wailers. A few days after the release of this album he was murdered during a home invasion. He combines elements of reggae with roots and the popular dancehall music from that period. 'Vampire' is a straightforward roots songs, while others are more danceable. The lyrics are powerful and a strong part of the message Tosh' wants to spread to the public. It received a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 1988.

The Expansions allow space and time to take precedence, with once-more-restrained peaks and developments. It becomes clear though, that the band cannot resist one last explosive finale, as they rise with screeching synths, strings and dubs for a perfect race to the finish line.
You can hear the influences of Idris Muhammad, Grover Washington, even parallels with South London peers Yussef Kamaal and Ruby Rushton.
But The Expansions have tirelessly worked to create a sound of their own and are very proud, along with label Albert's Favourites, to finally share it.

Harlem's legendary Disco label Queen Constance has long been a cult favourite among fans of underground dance music for decades.
One of many labels operating under the equally legendary P&P family of imprints Queen Constance was operated by one Peter Brown, a truly colossal figure in NYC's music scene, it's catalogue still fascinates music lovers to this day. Covering a wide range of styles including Gospel, early Rap and Disco the label's output continually finds it way into the playlists of respected DJ's and selectors across the globe. Wayne Forde's super heavyweight 'Dance To The Music Freakout' is the second reissue from the label for 2018!
Yet again, not much is known about Wayne Forde, or his band 'Stereo'. Could it be another Peter and Patrick studio project Another selection of local, neighbourhood players and singers Who knows What we do know, however, is that this record is a TOTAL disco bomb. All of what you want from a Queen Constance record is here, it's dripping in funk, raw and soulful. Essential stuff for anyone with even a passing interest in disco or anything funky. These jams are super long, percussive dance-floor melters that will do damage! Super rare, too. You won't find one of these nestled in the racks in your local chazzer, which is exactly why these (legit) represses should be in your cart. Essential.
This is a 100% legit reissue, made in conjunction with Above Board distribution and the Demon Music group, lovingly remastered with love by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK.
First ever experimental Tuareg guitar soundtrack. Original soundtrack recording to the film Zerzura, the first ever Saharan acid Western, telling the story of a nomad's search for a magic city of gold. Evoking the desert journey with free form guitar improvisations, the soundtrack is a meditation on the mysteries of the Sahara. Composed by writer and actor Ahmoudou Madassane, the instrumental score takes the familiar Tuareg guitar tradition into new directions, transforming desert blues into ambient soundscapes. Recorded in studio while watching footage from the film, the score was recorded in live and spontaneous takes. Heavily based around the electric guitar, Madassane also plays a handful of other in-studio instrumentation (prepared piano, Moog, Timpani) and is joined by a number of collaborators, including guitarist Marisa Anderson. A prolific and backing artist in a number of groups (Mdou Moctar, Les Filles de Illighadad), Madassane is well versed in Tuareg guitar folk and draws inspiration from this tradition before veering off into uncharted territory. Pieces fluctuate in timing and break free from standard rhythm, moving from melancholic serenity to blurry psychedelic fury. An experimental foray for Tuareg guitar, Zerzura is the first of its kind.

Dionne Warwick is one of the most classic and iconic soul singers of all time. Over her career she has recorded a string of hits and a legacy of music of outstanding quality. Move Me No Moiuntain' was first released in 1975 on Warner Brothers and has since become her most played song on the 'modern soul' scene. (I'm) Just Being Myself' comes from an earlier album (1973) produced by Holland-Dozier-Holland', a connoisseur soul track gaining support in recent years.
"Soul Jazz Records" are re-releasing keyboardist Eddie Russ's seminal debut deep jazz LP 'Fresh Out' in a limited edition - coloured vinyl of 1000 Copies worldwide. (Within download code)
Eddie Russ was an important figure to emerge from the vibrant underground jazz scene that thrived in Detroit in the early 1970's, existing in the cultural and economic desolation of the city after the departure of Motown in the late 1960's.
This scene included the musical collective Tribe (within members like Wendell Harrison, Marcus Belgrave, Phil Ranelin, Harold McKinney and Doug Hammond) and Kenny Cox's Strata Records. Eddie Russ's Fresh Out was first released in 1974 on the independent Jazz Masters record label.
As well as including the classic jazz dance cut The Lope Song, Eddie Russ's Fresh Out featured the debut of the group The Mixed Bag who subsequently recorded for both Tribe and Strata Records. Eddie Russ released two further classic jazz funk albums in the late 1970's, See the Light and Take a Look at Yourself.

I Marc 4, the brilliant quartet that collaborated with Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Armando Trovajoli, Gianni Ferrio, Piero Piccioni, Piero Umiliani, Alessandro Alessandroni, and their fantastic sound, now again available on a unique and really representative release, their holy grail session: G.L.P. 1007 from 1971. The best and most valued volume of the GLP series featuring the fantastic modal madness of "André", "Peroche", "Suoni Distorti" and the milestone 'Alfio' feat the flute by Alfio Galigani. The music goes from insane Psychedelic tunes to Jazz, Funk and more Bossa and Lounge tracks with plenty of Fuzz guitars, amazing Hammond job, and totally catching drum Breaks. An insane trip into early gold Italian Psychedelic and Underground vibes with loads of laden beats and grooves with the mark of the legendary Italian quartet. Simply essential!
This rather mysterious Jazz recording, which dates back to 1971, was quickly put together in a studio session sandwiched between RAI orchestra rehearsals, film soundtrack recordings and various other projects that make up this incredible musical library, all recorded in that period by our best musicians. The unique particulars of this record are that the musicians are not named, except for a mythical 'Plakoti' but also the rights and the tapes seemed tohave strangely disappeared. After a period of accurate research, thanks to Maurizio Majorana (bass player for the Marc 4) we have been able to find the original recordings and also the musicians that played on it. Even though this recording was accredited to the Marc 4, by semi-official sources of the time, strangely enough only two of them are effectively present on this record Antonello Vannucchi on the Hammond Organ, Vibraphone and Piano and Roberto Podio on the Drums. The other two musicians are Giovanni Tommaso playing his mythical 'Pedrazzini' (ndr) double bass who already played together with Vannucchi as part of the famous 'Lucca Quartet' and then as the bass player of the group 'Perigeo' and Enzo Grillini, part of the Rai orchestra and a favorite guitar player of both Armando Trovajoli and Gianni Ferrio who, at the time, was considered one of the best Italian Jazz guitar player and who rarely recorded music outside of the RAI orchestra. The style of this record, thanks to this very particular group of musicians, contrary to many other Library recordings, is very jazzy and the very special sound reminds us of the Jazz organ of the Verve/Blue Note labels made in the Sixties. The Seven Men Label, another characteristic of this new edition, born from a partnership of 7 mysterious producers and musicians in order to produce background music, in fact, only produced four recordings and they are : '1' that you are already listening to, 2, AKA 'Il Cinghialetto' directed by Gianni Ferrio and played by the very best popular and classical musicians of the day, as the soundtrack of a theatre piece written by Grazia Deledda and to conclude there are two recordings made in the 1970's written by Bruno Canfora: 'Musiche di scena n°1' and 'Musiche di scena n°2'. To have been able to bring this recording out again, knowing about its ups and downs and how it was made, is even more important now, as we have been able to add yet another gem to the numerous reeditions of the 'Italian Library Music' over these past years.

Since the release of his 2 first albums on Favorite Recordings, Lucas Arruda has quickly established
himself as one of the most talented young artist and composer from Brazil. His music is filled with fusion
style, mixing influences and elements from his Latin musical background, with his genuine admiration for
Jazz, Soul, Pop and Funk music.
In spring 2015, it was also not surprising to find Lucas Arruda back with a new LP called Solar, receiving
great supports and feedbacks from international media and tastemakers. One of the highlight of the
album was the song 'Melt the Night', on which Lucas teamed up with legendary producer Leon Ware,
reminding his collaborations in the 80s with Marcos Valle, when they perfectly merged together the
sophisticated Boogie and AOR touch from California, with the blazing sense of rhythm from Brazil.
Today Favorite Recordings proudly present Onda Nova, new and third album by Lucas Arruda. Mostly
written, composed and arranged by himself, Lucas however teams up on a few tracks with his old mate
Fabricio di Monaco (Modo Solar), his brother and musical partner Thiago Arruda, who recently joined
Ed Motta's live band, or Gaël Benyamin, also known as Geyster, who brings his longtime 'savoir-faire'
and skills for writing and composing AOR and WestCoast music genre, and who share this deep passion
with Lucas.
Onda Nova is therefore pursuing the music direction set with Solar, mixing touch of Blue-Eyed-Soul,
Pop, Soul and Brazilian styles together, and influenced by the path of legendary Brazilian producer
Lincoln Olivetti, who recorded some of the biggest stars of Brazilian music (Marcos Valle, Jorge Ben,
Tim Maia...).
In Lucas words: 'In this record I really wanted to honor Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti. They are the
main influence on this record. We recorded the basic tracks for the album in the same studio that Lincoln
Olivetti did his last works. So, this was very important to capture the true essence of Brazilian Funk/AOR
tradition. Hope you guys enjoy it!'

'After touring the United-States to promote my first solo album The Push, I
discovered that I wanted to add more bangin' songs to my live set as well as
speak on some more topics that I have been dealing with.
Soul Power is the result. When I I say 'Soul Power', I'm talking about what
gives my soul, my spirit power--which is music! This project was especially
born out of all that I learned being on the road as well as teaming up with new
friends I've met along the way which led to some dope collaborations!
I definitely have to give thanks to the folks who have made me feel at home
while away from home; who have blessed me with food, shelter, ciphers,
laughter, conversation, money, memories, general nonsense, and love. Also
mad thanks to the artists who blessed this project with their talent. Peace.

"Ghetto: Misfortune's Wealth" is the the 1973 Stax debut and the only album released by The 24-Carat Black until a lost album, "Gone: The Promises Of Yesterday", was finally released 35 years later. "Ghetto: Misfortune's Wealth" is an underground soul classic, a cohesive 8 song concept album about the hardship of black urban life, produced and arranged by classically trained Detroit song writer Dale Warren, who was an orchestrator and arranger on the Isaac Hayes' albums Hot Buttered Soul, The Isaac Hayes Movement and ...To Be Continued among others. This album has been a hit among many samplers for decades including being used on these songs: Jay-Z - "Can I Live Pt 2", Dr. Dre - "Nas Is Coming", Eric B - "In The Ghetto", Digable Planets - "Cool Like Dat" and Naughty by Nature - "Poverty's Paradise". 180 gram vinyl.
Delights is thrilled and honoured to release the new 7'' by Beta Hector (a.k.a. Simon Hill of Baby Charles, Derriere and MNP)!
After a 7-year hiatus, Hill returns with two sides of raw cinematic psych-funk, recorded with an ensemble of his long-time musical allies. Infectious, tense and Noir-ish "King Lunp Theme" is backed with the warm, intimate and melancholic "Into The Light" on the flipside.

Robert 'Dandy' Livingstone was one of the major influences in the spectacular rise of Trojan Records. Let's Catch The Beat consists of some of his best work he recorded before the end of the 1970s. Credited as the Brother Dan All Stars he brought the reggae rhythms with a British flavour. This fine combination marks one of the largest pieces in the early days of the Trojan Records label. Dandy's third album Let's Catch The Beat was released for the price of two 45's-quite a bargain, and went on to become a big seller.
Let's Catch The Beat is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on orange coloured vinyl.
