This song has been a long time coming, but finally I am very proud to release this collaboration between myself, the mighty DJ Spinna (BBE, Rawkus), and Manchester's own Neo Soul songstress, Fyza. Originally we recorded it back in 2008, but this song never got released. The masters were lost in a multiple hard drive failure at my studio. Many years went by until recently I found an old drive which contained the original recording session from 2008. I contacted Vincent and Fyza and we decided to release the original version on a 7 inch vinyl, and to add a few new remixes for a digital package. Including one from Fyza's Son, Shontay. The Philadelphia born singer Marian Anderson (1897 - 1993) is always remembered as the first African American interpreter to enter the elitist world of Opera and an important figure in the struggle for black artists in the context of the 1960's Civil Right Movement, Marian Anderson was one of the most celebrated singers of the twentieth century. Her voice has been defined as "Rich, vibrant contralto of intrinsic beauty". In "He's got the world in his hands" Marian Anderson with the only help from pianist Franz Rupp gets deep in the world of Spiritual. A long sequence of her favorite devotional songs interpreted with soul and grace. A true Masterpiece.

Recorded in the spring of 1952 at the Barrel Club in St. Louis, this is an inspired Bop session of Davis and tenor sax player Jimmy Forrest (then at the peak of his career). A rare chance to hear Davis and Forrest playing together and joined here by the rhythm section of Charles Fox (piano) Johnny Mixon (bass) and Oscar Oldham (drums). A fine selection of standards including Gillespie's hot number Night in Tunisia and a bunch of classics tunes such as Perdido, All the things you are and Oh Lady Be good.

Slave' is a dark instrumental of Sparrow's 'The Slave' from 1963 by Bert Inniss National Recording Orchestra with backing vocals by March of Dimes Quartet. It was the first release on the National label, which would become Sparrow's home from 1963 to 1967; Spicy, rhythmic, mournful, classic, full of emotions.

'The Slave' was taken from the same title album released in 1963. This album marks a new era in the matchless career of Sparrow. He could not have launched his National Recording Company on a higher note. 'The Slave' is a gem of composition and one of the most memorable works created by a calypsonian in this generation. Maybe it will remain historically significant in the traditional musical development of Trinidad & Tobago for generations. The song is a scathing telling of the fate of slaves in Britain's West Indian colonies. If you've ever wondered where calypso came from this song will tell you. You can actually feel the emotions of the Slaves being expressed in this great Calypso. The genius Mighty Sparrow has taken us back to the plantations so that we can get a front seat view of the hardships of slavery. This narration in song is a must for all students of history in Trinidad & Tobago.

Many of the world's great craftsmen have, at one time or another, created works which were not entirely free from flaws. An astonishing exception in this respect is the greatest calypsonian Mighty Sparrow. From the day he skyrocketed to fame with his composition 'Jean And Dinah' in 1956, Slinger Francisco has not made a weak calypso. All of his long-play records have been best-sellers throughout the Caribbean, in the United Kingdom, the United States and even in Europe.

Hague & White are Sheffield musicians Chris Hague (guitars, pianos and backing vocals) and Joel White (lead vocals, Hammond organ, Wurlitzer and Rhodes pianos - who also happens to be the cousin of the bard of Sheffield, Richard Hawley) who, between them, have worked with artists including Pulp, Moloko and Finlay Quaye. The band is completed by legendary drummer and percussionist, former Weller sticksman, Steve White. These three very talented musicians have created a self-assured, sophisticated and breathtaking debut album.

The Eleventh Hour was recorded at Sheffield's Tesla Studio, produced by Chris and David Glover (with co-production from Joel), and mastered at Abbey Road.
