Banoffee Pies Records drop their third Beats release 'Samba Del Sol' with Clifford Brown & Jeen Bassa Ft. Ella Mae Sueref - The album is influenced by Carnival and Latin sounds with Hip Hop drums and Soul roots - meeting in middle ground as an expression of the production duos upbringing, John's heritage in Mauritius and Cliffords childhood in South America. Partnered with Ellas Spanish language fluency and soft Badhu acclaimed voice as previously heard on the single 'Stop Rewind' credited by the like of Gilles Peterson and Mr. Scruff.

The tracks were recorded on Garageband by Clifford Brown and Jeen Bassa with 2 Karaoke Microphones, mixed in Bath and later buried on a hard drive for over 6 years never to be heard again. Sliding into the forgotten darkness of lost tracks and rediscovered in 2017. The production, originally just an instrumental, was then found and reignited, revamped with a vocal insert from the wonderful Ella Mae Sueref.

Paying homage to the 1981 7'' single (with the original sides reversed) as well as being packaged in a gloss laminated sleeve, this record also contains an inlay card entitled: 'Just Who Is Bernadette Bascom' which documents the story of this inspirational lady.

A donation from sales of this record will be made to The Music Project, this is a charitable organisation, founded and headed up by Bernadette, which helps underprovided and vulnerable youth find a voice literally and figuratively.

Boris Lodel (aka GBO) is a drummer / producer based in Strasbourg, in eastern France. Drummer since his childhood, it is at the corner of a cloud he met the "Giant Mic Ô", his nebulous mentor. Following this mystical experience he took the name of GBO and was introduced to the art of sampling to complete the quest entrusted to him: to produce the perfect beat. At the controls of his MPC, he travels today the galaxy looking for the pearls of soul, jazz or hip-hop.

The first release on ALIM Music is presented by BBE insider Mr Thing and features an extended edit of the J Dillaclassic 'Rico Suave Bossa Nova', with 'Come Get It' on the flip side; both taken from Dilla's stunning solo debut album 'Welcome 2 Detroit'.

It is well known that talent never guarantees any success in the music industry. This sentence summarizes the story of The 9th Creation, one of the best soul, funk, disco and boogie band to make it out of Stockton, CA.

Founded by J.D. and A.D Burrise in 1970, the 9th Creation went on for almost two decades and released 3 albums and half a dozen singles that regularly flirted with the US Charts, getting them featured on Soul Train in 1975 and allowing them to tour North America and Japan a few times over. 9th Creation regularly shared the bill with Irma Thomas, James Brown, The Whispers, The Sylvers, The Main Ingredient, Con Funk Shun and many others.

The infamously velvet tones of Jon Lucien get a much welcomed official remastered, reissue - with the original 'Rashida' 7' e.p., that contained four of Lucien's tracks, now split into two 7's for a louder, more refined pressing of each song.

First up, 'Lady Love', with it's bossa nova inspired style, drawing every last drop of emotion from Lucien's infamously voluptuous voice. Once dubbed by Herbie Hancock as 'the man with the golden throat', it's easy to see why - Lucien's rich baritone evoking dreams of summer sunsets, glistening blue seas whilst wrapping you up in a blanket of warmth and tenderness that few can rival.

Recorded at the band's own self-built Henwood Studio in rural Oxfordshire, the album effortlessly moves through different voices from the band's circle. The inimitable, timeless vocals of Nubiya Brandon lead the way on the album's title track about breaking preconceptions and promoting equality, 'Where you from I'm from wherever I be.' Saxophonist Nick Richards vocals the killer first single from the album about inner turmoil and a search for the truth, 'Tell It To Me Slowly' while rising Ghanaian star K.O.G. appears on the Afro jams 'Basa Basa' and 'They Talk'. The album is another landmark for a band that has been consistently developing their sound since their formation in 2015 at Leeds College Of Music. Thandi Zulu known as T.Z. Junior was a young girl from Soweto. She started her musical career with Peter Moticoe who produced "Love Games" with The Young Five on Heads label in 1984. Then, Peter Moticoe brought her to Phil Hollis at Dephon Entertainment who then teamed them up with Attie Van Wyk who was the producer for Yvonne Chaka Chaka at that time.

Phil Hollis started Dephon Promotion (Dephon Entertainment) in the late 70's and developed into the largest independent record company in South Africa. He describes himself as the only person who has been involved in recording of major hit songs in nearly all genres of music in all the languages in South Africa. Phil Hollis was involved in all aspects of the Entertainment industry from production of recordings, recording company, distribution, marketing and promotion, events management, staging major events and filming.

"Sugar My Love" and "Are You Ready for Love" were produced and arranged by Attie Van Wyk. 'Back in the 80's I was a songwriter for a band called Ballyhoo when I got an offer from the Dephon Record Company to join them as a music producer. So I quit the band and joined them, producing records mainly for music targeted at the black market in those days,' he says. Between 1982 and 1992, Attie Van Wyk produced over 120 albums, including many for Yvonne Chaka Chaka.

They say that good things come in threes... it must be true and Favorite Recordings also proudly presents the third edition of its acclaimed French Disco Boogie Sounds compilation series.

Like on prior volumes, the complete tracklist is selected by label head honcho, Charles Maurice (aka Pascal Rioux), who's unearthed 13 more forgotten and hidden tracks, all produced whether in France, in French, or by French artists between 1977 and 1987.

With most of these titles now very hard to find in their original edition and unknown by many, this compilation should be a must have for any Disco-Boogie-Funk music lover and collector.

Snaketime' is what Moondog himself referred to as his unique sense of time in music, what he called a slithery rhythm'. And indeed, almost nobody else was making music as unique as this in the 1950s, drawing influence from city sounds, and working on many of his own instrumental invitations, Snaketime Series is truly cutting edge American avant-garde. In 1972, Orchestre Abass released two incredible singles on Polydor. These records - featuring

Samarin Banza, Haka Dunia and other afrofunk masterpieces - were powerful enough to knock

any music head out, but it wasn't until the discovery of some unreleased material by the band that

the seeds for this project were planted.

It all happened in 2008 in Ghana. I was going through some tapes that had previously been the

property of PolyGram one of the major record companies based in west Africa. In the late 80s political

instability and curfews had paralysed the music industry forcing Polygram to close their Ghanaian

subsidiaries leaving all of their recordings behind. These recordings had been packed in boxes and

left vegetating in an Accra warehouse for three decades until I came along. To my surprise all of the

tapes looked unharmed and I was particularly relieved to hear that the Orchestre Abass tape was in

an excellent state of condition. I began fiddling around with the idea of releasing an album of the

band and that plan got an additional boost with le 'coup de grace' which had landed in the form of

an ultra rare tune called Honam discovered in Sotoboua, a small northern Togolese town in the

middle of nowhere. That find completed this selection.

I had previously discovered some similar music in Northern Benin and in Nigeria and I started

picturing an area that spread all the way from Northern Ghana to Northern Cameroon, an area I

dubbed 'The Islamic funk belt' due to the fact that Super Borgou de Parakou, Napo De Mi Amor,

Uppers International and Hamad Kalkaba just to name a few - all from that 'belt' - were groups

made up of musicians with an Islamic background. This can be felt and heard in the music and

particularly in the singing since many of the musicians had attended koranic schools and the

languages used in the songs often had Arabic elements fused in - Orchestra Abass was one of them.

With their heavy, organ-led sound combining with the deftest of musical touches, these records were

the work of a rhythmic powerhouse and we are honoured to be in a position to present the

recordings of Togo´s funkiest Band.

Unfortunately Malam Issa Abass, the founder, guitarist and organ player of the band, was killed in

1993 by a grenade thrown into his bedroom and to help me reconstruct the biography of the band I

tracked down Thon Komla, one of the band´s songwriters and Abderaman Issa, the guitar player

of the band.

All the music was licensed directly from the various composers of these songs. The vinyl is pressed on

180 High Quality Virgin Vinyl and the gatefold contains previously unseen pictures and a detailed

biography of the might band.

Moving Violation is the 11th studio album by The Jackson 5. It is the group's final album on Motown Records. Aiming at the developing disco market, the group's funk-based version of Diana Ross & the Supremes' 1968 single 'Forever Came Today' was a club hit, while the single's B-side, the R&B ballad 'All I Do Is Think of You', became a popular and frequently covered song.

Many know Luther Davis from his more familiar and previously reissued disco floater 'You Can Be A Star', not so many people outside the collector's world know the disco-funk 45 'Keep on Dancin' as its about 4x as rare and slightly more out there musically (which is a good thing). The horn and guitar led disco funk hook float's almost precisely between Modern Soul and Deepfunk (The scene that played it first) and for a change i love the guitar solo, used almost like a synth effect. On the flip is an admittedly formulaic deep soul joint that just works due to the dope backing vocals and crispy drumming.

Freddie handed me some demo's & tracks around 2001 and always really loved this song and arrangement but didn't know where to put it. A few years later it featured on a Tru Thoughts ''Soul Search '' artist album in 2006 but still never came out in it's own right as a single.

Earlier this year we mentioned to Freddie we were interested and asked if he had an unreleased instrumental for the flip to which he duly supplied and so finally to surface on Mukatsuku a timeless soulful classic that doesn't seem to have aged at all. Limited to 300 hand numbered copies and no repress
