And what better way to open such a set than with Van Broussard's banging titty-shaker Mojo This is followed by The Little Bits' screaming garage-soul cut Girl Give Me Love (recorded when the band members were all between nine and twelve years old!) and Frozen Sun's Jamm Pt.1 - a monster psych-soul number secretly laid down in the lobby of radio station KTKT (in Tucson, AZ) on a Sunday after midnight and about as aptly named as a track can get. Phlegethon's You're No Good provides cover song thrills by getting heavy-psychedelic on the Clint Ballard-penned classic, while yet more garage-soul delights are locked down by offerings from The Chapters, The Looking Glass and The Four. Closing the set is Pump's previously unreleased Ashtray Candle 6:33 - a slow-grooving psych masterpiece.

Once again, Chan the Man - previously the guiding light for Perfect Toy's Down & Wired series - was the driving force behind this project. It is his incredible knowledge, combined with the network of record collectors, DJs and vinyl nerds that he has established over the past few decades which have made it possible to come up with such a high-octane selection of super-heavy and extremely rare tracks. Official Mr Bongo reissue of the ultra-rare album by 'Super Elcados'. A fusion of heavyweight Nigerian funk, soul & disco, originally released by EMI Nigeria in 1976. The 'Super Elcados' (and 'Elcados' on other recordings) recorded three albums in the mid and late-70's, this is their first. Presented here are five lengthy soul-jazz pieces (including material from 'Sly Stone', 'War' & 'The Jackson 5') with funky grooves and some of the best sparkling organ & guitar licks you'll ever hear. This album sets the stage for a constant shift in grooves, a collage of earthy Funk, Soul, Rock and Jazz Fusion straight outta 1972... an emotional ride packed with the main ingredients for a 'get down'.

The Nineteenth Whole were an Indianapolis-based funky jazz outfit who were part of a very vibrant scene. Jazz guitar legend 'Grant Green' had originally hailed from there and he recruited the members of the 19th Whole as his rhythm section for live dates. (Green also discovered the other great Indianapolis jazz outfit Funk Inc. at about this time.) The attention that followed their work with Green allowed the Nineteenth Whole to sign with producer Bob Porter (responsible for many superb jazz productions for Prestige and Atlantic) on Eastbound, a label he had set up with Detroit independent Westbound Records.

Fronted by Billy Wooten's distinctive vibes, joined by guitar legend Cornell Dupree (you all know his opening riff on the intro of Aretha Franklin's 'Respect') and percussionist Buddy Caldwell (THE session musician for respected labels such as Prestige & Muse) makes Smilin' an organ funk groove classic at its best!

Recorded in 1972 by the legendary Rudy Van Gelder (known for recording Miles Davis in the early 1950's and the countless work he did for Blue Note, Prestige, Verve .. and many others) at the Indianapolis club that gave the band their Eastbound name: 'The Nineteenth Whole'. Production on the album was handled by Bob Porter (responsible for many superb jazz productions for Prestige and Atlantic).

Steppa dubwise sound ! A masterpiece, once again !

Having never received a full release in the USA (or any release at all in the UK), the 1979 US promo 12" (7:01 mins) of "Shining" by Venus Dodson continues to fetch considerable sums from collectors in 2017. The track was a staple Paradise Garage banger and is surely one of the finest Leroy Burgess penned tracks to come from the peak years of disco. In the interests of restoring some historical balance, Kinfine now present a remastered, limited press, replica 12". Cut with love at 45rpm to ensure a higher audio resolution (than the hard-to-find original).

Ayuune Sule brings 'the Soul' into Kologo Power. In Europe we know Ayuune Sule as a member of King Ayisoba's band and as a solo artist who often opens up for his shows.
When listening to Sule's guest vocals on King Ayisoba's albums you hear the 'warm velvet voice' of Ayuune Sule as a striking contrast to King Ayisoba's forceful rasping vocals. We Have One Destiny is full of that velvet tone and true West African soul power. Living in Kumasi makes it easy for Ayuune Sule to be influenced by southern Ghanaian music styles such as Azonto and Hiplife and fuse those with the rhythms and scales from the north. The first ever vinyl LP compilation of songs by the great Eddie and Ernie! The duo produced tons of great singles throughout the 60's and early 70's. This LP features a couple dance numbers, but mostly slow dramatic soul ballads reminiscent of the best moments of more well known acts like Sam and Dave and Otis Redding. Some pretty eerie soaring vocals and existential lyrics of the highest order. Under appreciated in their time, Eddie and Ernie are two of soul musics greatest talents! 'Gone With the Sun' featured on their 1974 album 'Kissing You So Hard' and fuses bluesy disco, funk and soul moods with quirky synths and effects.

First released in 1995 on Jonah's own Aba Christos Tafari Records,Intergalactic Dub Rockis a trip. While the 90s rave continuum buried down the hole of cosmic sci-fi culture, dub's fascination turned elsewhere after 80s touch-stones like Shaka'sBrimstone & FireandCaptain Ganja and the Space Patrol(re-issued by Bokeh last year). But Jonah takes things way far on this, his most adventurous outing: let your needle cruise along these bleeps and strings of 50s space travelling dreams, and the flutes and melodicas of planet earth, hear them clang with the hardest dub FX units the UK could buy at the time. It's one of the most righteous and outward-looking steppas LPs, now liberated from the hands of Discogs-types with a previously CD-only bonus track, 'White Nile'.

Inyotef, Bongoman, Jahman Dan, Kheru - Jonah Dan goes by many names and many trades - akete nyabinghi master, vocalist, producer and filmmaker. For many years he was the go-to studio percussionist for the UK dub scene, collaborating with basically everyone: Paul Fox, Jah Warrior, Robert Tribulation, Jah Fingers, Tony Roots, Alpha and Omega. Along with Bush Chemists (stars of BKV 020...) and Disciples, he toured the continent, spreading the message of UK dub and laying the seeds for a lot of the EU scene today. At some point his Aba Christos Tafari Records morphed into Inner Sanctuary, one of the greatest 90s labels still in operation, go check.

Pan Amsterdam is producer thatmanmonkz and Leron Thomas. Leron has played with the likes of Bilal, Badu, and D'Angelo. Professionally trained Jazz Musician living in New York thatmanmonkz is

a producer well known in the House world. He is also one half of Madison Washington. A Hip-Hop duo also on Def Press who enjoyed much success last year with their debut record and debut fo r the label - Code Switchin' EP.

Championed by Gilles Peterson and the like, Gilles actually had Madison Washington on his 6 Music show for a full live performance of the EP and an interview. This established monkz as a Hip-Hop producer in his own right. He

met Leron through the label (Def Press ) and Malik Crumpler, the other half of Madison Washington. Malik and Leron are firm friends from the New York Jazz/underground Hip-Hop scene. Pan Amsterdam was born.
