Repressed with a new price. Now Again Records follows up The Heliocentrics' percussive excursions into the astral realms of psychedelia with an album of Afro-tingled funk music originating from Southern Sahara and recorded in Germany. Karl Hector has, to date, only appeared on one 7-inch, from 1996, as the leader of the Funk Pilots. For this album, he has teamed up with Jay Whitefield (producer and guitarist for the Poets Of Rhythm and the Whitefield Brothers, and founder of the now defunct Hotpie & Candy Records) and Thomas Myland and Zdenko Curlinja, founders of the Malcouns. Alongside Bo Baral, other members of the Poets of Rhythm and crack Munich-based session musicians, Whitefield, Myland and Curlija have crafted nearly twenty tracks that follow the musical roads that Hector has travelled. The underlying groove that ties these ideas together, of course, is as rooted is James Brown as it is Fela Kuti. As informed by Mulatu Astatke of Ethiopia as it is by Jean-Claude Vannier and Can. This is an album of the world. Not 'world music'- but that will appeal to any culture ever transfixed by rhythm on 'the one.'

Strut go straight for a collectors favourite for Record Store Day 2013 with the first official reissue of Arawaks in-demand 'Accadde A...' (literally It Happened To...), originally released on the tiny Squirrel label in 1970.
The album was put together by the late Luciano Simoncini, a prolific Southern Italian pianist and arranger responsible for a number of anonymously presented library music and film scores, and was the first of four long players under the Arawak name. Presented as a multi-cultural, utopian concept, each track theoretically visits a different country / city and the musical styles vary from funk grooves and loping beats to folkier guitar tracks. With its infectious beats and cinematic feel, the album has become a holy grail for breaks collectors.
Madlib most famously borrowed album track 'Accadde A Bali' for Quasimotos 'Real Eyes' and sealed copies of the original pressing change hands for four figure sums.
For Record Store Day 2013, Strut are reissuing the full album, mastered from the original reels for the first time since its original issue. Artwork comes fully restored from the original lithographs.

The soul singer and songwriter based in England known as Myles Sanko released his debut "Born in Black & White" to broad critical and fan acclaim in 2013. Featuring seven original funk and soul tracks written and performed by Myles himself, this EP was perceived and played in the style of soul greats such as Bill Withers, Otis Redding, Al Green and James Brown, all of whom Myles openly names and proudly as his main musical influences. A stop-to-finish work of deep grooves and jazzy musical knowledge, Now "Born in Black & White" is followed up by Myles Sanko's first full-length album "Forever Dreaming".

Dubbed as the lovechild of soul music, Myles Sanko began his music career by singing and rapping alongside disc jockeys in nightclubs. He has fronted popular bands such as Bijoumiyo, plus working with funk kings Speedometer who were touring with James Brown's 35 years soul sister Ms Martha High. "My intention," writes Myles, "is to produce music with a feel good vibe and lyrical content that makes my listeners think." In order to select an appropriate collection of compositions for professional recording in the studio, Myles uploaded live videos of himself giving acoustic performances to the internet. He then invited his bevy of fans throughout Europe to give their opinions regarding which tracks would best fit his debut EP release. This interactive spirit, which has guided Myles's solo career to date, reveals much about his humanist spirit, genial character, and artistic integrity.

"I want my music to be a place to feel alive," says Myles Sanko. "True motivation is the reaction I get from my audience when I perform, and I intend on making music that I love listening to. It's the only way to stay authentic and to not lose yourself in all the other musical influences out there." With his eight piece band Rick Hudson (drums), Neil Cowlan (guitar), Tiago Coimbra (bass), Tom O'Grady (piano/Rhodes), Neil Penny (trumpet), Matt Mckay (saxophone/flute), Tom White (trombone) amd Ric Elsworth (percussion) Myles Sanko 10 versatile compositions Myles wrote with his longtime songwriting partner Thierry Los from France. Styles are ranging from the melodic soul-jazz oft he title track "Forever Dreaming" through the spiritual acid jazz of "Take A Look At Me Now" to the energetic soul dancer "Shooting Star".

Hailing from Escondido, CA, Brian Ellis has arrived with the "REFLECTION" EP, and has set out to push authentic drum machine synthesizer funk to the livest, rawest level. His gear list is strong, his output is prolific, and his work ethic is unrivaled...armed with his oberheim DX, oberheim Matrix-1000, Roland SVC-350 Vocoder, and an arsenal of various guitars, synths, and outboard effects, Brian and his group 'REFLECTION' are prepped to unleash an array of utterly devastating jams onto the dancefloor. His debut EP, 'REFLECTION' includes the Egyptian Lover, a master of the 808 and veteran party-rocker on vocoder detail, to guest on 'Love Is'.

On moving to Canada from his original home of Haiti, pianist and singer/songwriter Henri-Pierre Noel brought with him much of the tropical island's influences. The "Kompa Funk" sounds of his homeland, along side contemporary North American jazz and disco, ran throughout Henri's 1979 album Piano, re-released by Wah Wah 45s in 2012, and now it's time for a second helping with the re-issue of 1980's dance floor friendly One More Step, both albums having been originally released on very limited private presses and since become holy grails of the back music scene.

Henri-Pierre Noel is an incredibly versatile musican who uses the piano in a very percussive and syncopated way, almost like a drum. This particular technique naturally brings disco and afro-funk elements into hisunique brand of dance floor fusion.

The man himself is still playing in his adopted home of Montreal today, and having been introduced to Wah Wah 45s label boss Dom Serviniby Canadian DJsKobal, Moonstarr and Andy Williams, who were allkeen fans of his early works, it became clear that Noel's finest moments needed to be re-released and re-discovered by a new generation.

Re-mastered from the original multi-track tapes by Kevin Moonstarr in Canada, and featuring seriously foot friendly cuts like "Afro-Funk" Groove, Funky Spider Dance and Latin Feeling,as well as firing female vocals and a plethora of percussion,Henri-Pierre Noel's sophomore LP is finally available to all on heavyweight vinyl, CD and digital formats, including full sleeve notesfrom Reveal Records boss, Peter Riden.

A DJ, collector, producer and record seller, Riccio is a staple on the Italian scene and brings plenty of louche disco funk to this release.
