The Impellers - The Knock Knock / I Predict A

Brighton-based 11-piece-funk-powerhouse The Impellers return with a hard-hitting double-sider. "The Knock Knock" is an authentic piece of heavy soul, spotlighting the gritty vocals of lead singer 'Lady' Clair Witcher, while the band busts loose on an instrumental take of the Kaiser Chiefs classic on the flip side, not available on any other format. A very apt 7inch to celebrate Mocambo Records' forty five #30...

Madrid beatsmith + Cleveland rapper = turntables on fire!

Madrid-based hip-hop, jazz, funk, DJ and producer AL-X ROCKS teams up with up there Cleveland rapper Replife, who makes his second appearance on a Lovemonk slab o' wax after his collaboration with the mighty Boohgaloo Zoo. The defiant head-bopper that is 'Get´em Up' comes in two versions: the original is a straightforward hip-hop beat supporting a sturdy guitar riff, while the flipside may be its laid-back counterpart.

The Cactus Channel - Emanuel Ciccolini

The Cactus Channel are a 10 piece instrumental funk band from Australia, with 2 vinyl singles released before they turned 18. Their first 45 sold out in a matter of weeks from a run of 500. We've released slightly more this time, but they won't last long. The band has supported Charles Bradley and counts The Dap Kings' Tom Brenneck and soul legend Charles Walker as fans.

"The mark of a great DJ is one who knows that hip-hop came from disco. That is the truth of the matter..."
Johnny 'D' DeMairo has always been about disco. It was something that underpinned his seminal house label Henry Street Music, the imprint he set up with Tommy Musto in 1993.

Two cool 'New Breed' style popcorn R&B dancers back to back, both recorded in New York for the King label, home to so many classics of the genre! 'Every Whicha Kinda Way' has a cool, foot-moving, hand-clapping rhythm and sharp backing vocals, while 'Daddy Laddy' is a slightly greasier, plodding mover with a jerking rhythm and a sleazy sax topping it off. Both sides are guaranteed to do the business, whether you choose to listen around your living room, or drop it into your R&B set at a club...

Gil Bernal - The Dogs / James

Born and bred in the LA melting pot of Watts, Gil Bernal was a highly decorated and hugely prolific saxophonist who performed and recorded throughout the '50s with the crème de la crème of the cities R&B talent. Signed up with Leiber & Stoller's Spark records, Gil also featured on some of that writing team's biggest and most influential hits - playing the riffs and solo's on songs such as the Coasters 'Youngblood' and 'Down In Mexico' amongst many others. Through the '60s, Gil figured with the Lionel Hampton orchestra ...

The Reflex - Re-visions Vol.2

GAMM proudly presents The Reflex, a new and rising star within the edit scene. After his edits made big noise on Soundcloud they are now finally coming out on two separate GAMM releases.
Note, these are not just standard edits but fully reworked productions using multitracks, original samples and even live elements.
The second EP by the Reflex delivers three outstanding reworks.
First up is a killer stomping breakbeat take on Marvins & Tammy Terrells "Ain't No Mountin High Enough".
Next is a 60s soul twist on Amy "Rehab" hit. The best is saved for the last when Mavin's "Whats going on" gets an tasteful beatless rework...simply beautiful!
