CZARFACE (Wu-Tang Clan's Inspectah Deck & 7L & Esoteric) is back! Fresh off the heels of their collaboration with Marvel Comics the trio continues to combine music and art with their latest release "A Fistful of Peril." The back story of this album begins in the summer while Deck and Esoteric were in the studio recording some new Czarface material. During this time Marvel Comics had reached out to Czarface wanting some music to soundtrack their Black Panther web series, promoting their breakout comic of the same name. This Marvel meeting spawned the lead track "All in Together Now" and served as the primary inspiration for a fleshed-out album that nobody saw coming. The group camped out in the studio playing beats, talking comics, video games, and pop culture....what came about was "A Fistful of Peril." Starting the album off with the ARP keyboard odyssey of "Electric Level 1" is like entering the vortex of color and light in Kubrick's 2001. The aptly titled "Two in the Chest" showcases Deck & Eso's ability to deliver punchlines and pop culture references with ease over an exceptional bass and guitar combo. "Czar Wars" has the two sparring back and forth bringing that 'X-Men/Danger Room' mentality that Deck often to refers to when in Czar-mode. Psycho Les of The Beatnuts steps in on "Dust" while "Lizard City" introduces 'Czarface Pajamas'. Yes you read that correctly. The off-kilter "Steranko" has Meyhem Lauren and Rast join forces with Czarface as they weave their way through a mind-bending array of varying beats. Other features on the album are Conway on "Machine, Man & Monster" and AOTP's Blacastan on "Tarantulas." Another one of the album's highlights is "Dare Iz A Darkseid" which along with "Talk That Talk" is the perfect balance of wit and humor that make up the core of Czarface. Building on an already rock solid foundation with two critically acclaimed albums, "A Fistful of Peril" features some of the groups most cohesive material. For this lead track he has enlisted the talents of LA soul group Moonchild. The trio (signed to UK label Tru Thoughts) consist of reed / horn players Andris Mattson and Max Bryk and vocalist Amber Navran. Check their 2015 album 'Please Rewind' for evidence of their singular take on modern soul music that has earned praise from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Robert Glasper, James Poyser and 9th Wonder.

This collaboration is a very natural one, with Tall Black Guy's deft drums and soulful instrumentation perfectly combining with the sultry vocals and muted horns of Moonchild. 'I was a fan of their music as soon as Texas based DJ, Pepper Thomas had put me onto them a few years back. I really wanted to collaborate with them and so I reached out to them - I liked the completed track so much that I asked them if they would like to be a part of my next album. I particularly like the fact that all three of them equally contribute to the group's sound.' On the flip of this limited edition 7" is TBG's own alternate mix of the track (exclusive to this release). With beefed up drums and subtly altered bass notes it's the perfect accompaniment to the handclap-fuelled and understated original. Bad Taste is beatmaker extraordinaire Josip Klobucar's radical stylistic shift into psychedelia, towards murkier, weirder and skewed sides of beats. With a mighty, estranged and saturated ambience. And admirable dynamics. The material that dreams are made of, well, at least how Edgar Allan Poe would write about them. His range of influence is vast, with nods to folk, world music, psych and obviously hiphop. Because of Josip's unique approach to arranging, maniacal layering and details all these genre tags don't really mean much though. Bad Taste is another precisely and thickly kneaded music delivery from the Zagreb native. Undiluted!

Josip Klobucar is a veteran and pioneer of the tiny Zagreb beats scene. He has released music for 4lux, Eklektik Records and Svetlana Industries. He has worked on various projects and collaborated with artists such as Teebs & Jackhigh, Yoggione, Fulgeance, Yannah Valdevit ... He's also known for his carefully crafted, elaborate and lucid live acts.

The D.O.C., short for Department of Correction, is a highly skilled battle rhymer from Dallas, USA. In addition to his solo career he was a member of the hip hop group Fila Fresh Crew and later collaborated with gangsta rap group N.W.A where he co-wrote many of their releases. After Fila Fresh Crew split up in 1988, The D.O.C. went on to pursue a successful solo career.
No One Can Do It Better is the debut album by The D.O.C. from 1989 and is produced by the then upcoming Dr. Dre who contributed on most of the fast hard hitting rap tracks with his heavy funk laden beats. The album reached number one on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for two weeks and spawned two number one hits on the Hot Rap Songs chart: It's Funky Enough' and The D.O.C. & The Doctor'. The album went platinum five years after its release.

Tragically The D.O.C. severed his vocal chords in an almost fatal car accident in November 1989 but No One Can Do It Better still stands the test of time as one of the early pre- Chronic albums.

North Carolina based duo LegSweep Specialist has announced a full-length album, LegSweep for an Oct. 28th release date. To be released on Below System Records, the album is the first pairing of emcee Fuzz Jaxx and producer/emcee Sam Brown. For listeners who miss tracks with soulful loops, chopped breaks and conscious/down to earth lyricism, LegSweep is a much needed purchase. Greenville, NC native Sam Brown has spent the last fifteen years mastering his rhyme-style and beat-making with the MPC. In love with the music, Brown headed to the mecca of the sound in New York City, where he assisted many sessions at the legendary Quad Studios. Fuzz Jaxx's career as an emcee stretches back the mid 90's in his hometown of Augusta, GA. As a member of Shaft he gained local notoriety and a following. Arriving in Wilmington, NC in 97, he has grown to a respected lyricist and cornerstone of the underground Hip-Hop scene there and in neighboring regions. Originally released in 1995, Brothas Doobie is the second album by the Los Angeles-based Latino rap group Funkdoobiest. The album contains all the original members Son Doobie (Jason Vasquez), DJ Ralph M (Ralph Medrano) and Tomahawk Funk (Tyrone Pacheco). The latter left group after this release.

Originally released in 1995, Brothas Doobie is the second album by the Los Angeles-based Latino rap group Funkdoobiest. The album contains all the original members Son Doobie (Jason Vasquez), DJ Ralph M (Ralph Medrano) and Tomahawk Funk (Tyrone Pacheco). The latter left group after this release.

Pieces In Space is the Don Giovanni Records debut LP from Sammus, the stage name adopted by Ithaca, NY producer, rapper, activist, and PhD student Enongo Lumumba-Kasongo. Known as much for her rousing stage presence as she is for her prowess as a beatmaker and lyricist, Sammus has spent the past several years cultivating a strong following of activists, hip-hop heads, punks, and self-proclaimed nerds and geeks, among others.



Now ready to make her Don Giovanni debut, she is poised to cement herself as an artist who consistently thinks outside boxes and dances across lines (and does other neat things with geometrical figures).




Armed with guest appearances from rap legends like Jean Grae, Homeboy Sandman, and Open Mike Eagle as well as her Don Giovanni label-mate Izzy True and Brooklyn up-and-comer Latasha Alcindor, the project aims to establish Sammus as one of the great MCs, beat makers, and thinkers of this politically charged movement.

While still in his teens in the mid-00's he began winning spoken word poetry competitions, including Brave New Voices International Poetry Slam Champion. He subsequently appeared on the final season of 'Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry' on HBO and performed at hundreds of universities across the USA. He has also toured in the UK and mainland Europe as Watsky with his band, most recently as part of 2013's Vans Warped Tour.

The release of 'x Infinity' has been preceded by the publication of George Watsky's debut essay collection, 'How To Ruin Everything' (Penguin Random House) on 14th June. It immediately entered the New York Times Top 10 Bestselling Non-Fiction list.

Three videos preceded the late August release of 'x Infinity', each of which has had 500K+ views on YouTube, while the album itself entered the iTunes UK HipHop/Rap chart at no. 3. A single entitled 'Midnight Heart', co-written and produced by Anderson .Paak, has been taken to UK radio to coincide with a UK tour in late September.

This new album is my fourth tribute to the union between rap music and literature as well as my second concept album. The songs that compose all have a common denominator: the wind. The wind as atmospheric agent that despite her being invisible created the life and influence so much of our existence. The wind like never tired traveler can visit endless places, changing the contours. The thought of the mind as the wind, light now uncontrollable now. The wind as a narrative medium through which to tell complex phenomena such as literacy, "diversability", marginalization, forced marriages, the war brides, mental pathology in various forms. Finally the wind as poetry and resource: the title track itself is a tribute to a wind protagonist, Angelo D'Arrigo, flying with hang-gliding champion who died in 2006. All stories contained logs and have different influences and are influenced of different narrators as Biamonti, Bonnefoy, Curioni, Hesse, Rigoni Stern mixed in my head with historical insights and folk tales. The contents rap-accounts in the album are like so many places, near or remote, crossed by a same wind that changes name and characteristics but which performs a task that seems to be the inherent all along: to collect stories in her womb and store forever waiting for someone to want to read, there was almost a memory airflow the productions are entrusted largely beatmakers known to the national hip hop scene for their classic warm sound that blends well with my narrations. The strong gender identity of the instrumental bases and my technical attention in the opera building wants to be a demonstration, aimed primarily at younger generations, of how we can create hip hop music without neglecting concepts and references that can contribute to a wide-ranging cultural growth . Collaborations to the microphone over to my partners always (The Kattiveria and Dj T-Robb) and two talented female voices (Dia, Amelivia), is represented by artists that I consider among the greatest exponents of writing in high rap in Italy: Dargen D 'Friend, Ghemon, Grudge.

Soul II Soul's origins, were deep within the underground world of 1970s sound systems, a situation they immersed themselves in, then bust out into the mainstream in a way that was as unchanged as it was completely reinvented.

30 years on, there is probably no more appropriate way to celebrate Soul II Soul than Origins' combining of the old school medium with thoroughly modern packaging. Recorded over a weekend in late 2015 at Studio A, at London's iconic Metropolis Studios, an intimate crowd of 120 witnessed the full force of Soul II Soul's incredible live show as Jazzie, Caron, and the band, brought their 1989 debut Club Classics Vol.1 to live like never before.

This box set really is an up-close look at the musical brilliance that marks Soul II Soul as one of the greatest live bands in history.

Blunted On Reality is the 1994 debut album by Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel, collectively known as The Fugees. The album contains less political lyrics than their second album The Score (MOVLP068), but there definitively were political intentions.
