Pawcut & Katharsis - Kosmonautenallee
Leipziger Schule, Baby.

During his almost 40 years spanning career Jah Wobble recorded more than thirty solo albums and contributed to even more, uncountable projects. On the route from the post punk of Public Image Limited (PiL) via dubby dance music (especially in form of Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart) to world music and ambient in all its facets the exceptionally gifted bass player hasn't left out almost any genre which is relevant in the modern British music scene. With "Inspiration" Jah Wobble returns to his roots, the love of his youth, reggae music. With the singer PJ Higgins he found the prefect companion, voice and songwriter to accomplish this endeavor with flying colors - a match made in heaven. Already the opener "My Heart's Burning" sparkles with the magic that arose during the recording sessions between Wobble and Higgins and sets the groundwork for the next seven tracks to come. PJ Higgin's vocals are piled layer upon layer and weave seamlessly in the deep, dubby bassline and the mellow guitar sounds. This masterfully, delicate reluctance is present over the full length of the album. Now and then, for instance with 'I Did Bad', it almost gets trip hoppy and you wouldn't be surprised if at it's finale suddenly Tricky would sneak around the corner. What makes the difference to the trip hop of Bristolian days is the mastery of these professional musicians who show off their craftsmanship on each and every song.

It's only with the third track, 'King Of Illusion', that you finally notice that the foundation of this album is actually reggae. The trumpet of Sean Corby and the offbeat-played keys by Wobble himself make slight references to the bygone sound of Studio One. On the other hand you can clearly hear that the separate instruments have been mixed in a lavish mastering above-board - in a way one now ought to speak of 'spherical reggae'. The core part of this masterpiece is of course the title track 'Inspiration'. Alex McGowan caps it all off with his very distinctive guitar playing and the thriftily applied Fender rhodes add extra virtuosity to the already very complex arrangement. 'Floating on high', sings PJ Higgins and means the transcendence you achieve when you addict yourself to all your inspirations and consider yourself as an aggregate of them. And this album is figuratively speaking jam-packed with influences and ideas, as many as it needs to make your head spin. Giddiness is no where in sight though, thanks to Jah Wobble's extra-experienced bass playing that pieces all the individual songs together to one big beautiful picture. It's the common thread to everything that's going on and the grounding of the electrifying voice of PJ Higgins. On 'What Have I Become' there's no holding back anymore though and she catches fire delivering a performance that goes right through you. The drums and percussions played by Marc Layton- Bennett add a heavy dose of voodoo to the mix. Even a spiritual ('Chaingang') find its way on to this immaculate and, after repeated listening, truly impressive collection. The call & response by PJ Higgins is simply accompanied by hand claps and foot stomps and, of course, Jah Wobble's restrained bass.

All in all, this is a well-rounded package trying to be a classic reggae album but overstating the case by turning out to be much more than that. If PJ Higgins and Jah Wobble were new kids on the block, they'd be a pair to keep an eye on. Keeping an ear to the ground doesn't hurt though

"A relatively young producer and one who has only a handful of releases to his name, Moleskin is nevertheless an important producer to watch." FADER. DJ support comes from Evian Christ, Bok Bok, Nguzunguzu, Sinden, Kingdom, Blackdown, Logos, MORRI$, Dubbel Dutch and more.

Strange U take matters into their own hands on this long awaited sophomore release. King Kashmere IV and Doctor Zygote continue in the vein of their 2013 Eglo debut but with a more refined and perhaps darker, more electronic sound.

Maricopa returns to Back To The Balearics to complete his stunning opus, Pastel Love.

And he continues where he left off building deeply textured songs packed full of simple melodies that really shine.
His music opts for subtle feelings and passing vibes over the more obvious structures of 'dance music'. The release of Part One led to a number of comparisons with the early work of Aphex Twin as well as more contemporary producers such as Four Tet.

Such comparisons don't come lightly, but Pastel Love demonstrates that a rare musical talent has arrived.

The release again has beautiful printed covers and looks as good as it sounds. Viva Maricopa!

This is a very proud moment for me. When i started 2000black i wanted to release music that was of today respecting the past and looking towards the future. Timeless sounds regardless of genre or tempo. 'Fresh Fromage' is THAT track - dego Already played by Radio 1's Benji B and Soundsignature's Theo Parrish

The origins of DJ Kormac's recorded output can be found in dusty second-hand stores and junk shops where he spent countless hours unearthing archaic and forgotten music. Fascinated with the recordings and movies of another era, he amassed a collection full of vintage instrumentals, jazz drum solos and spoken-word pieces which would go on to form the basis of his sound. This forgotten material was twisted, morphed and shaped into the instantly recognisable and idiosyncratic style heard on his first two EPs and debut LP,Word Play.

Having exhausted the bargain bin, the logical step was to now create his own source material. Packing a portable recording set-up, Kormac travelled to the homes of the legendary Irvine Welsh, Micah P. Hinson, Mercury Music Prize winner Speech Debelle, Bonobo vocalist and spoken-word artist Bajka, Vyvienne Long and a motley crew of rappers, soloists and opera singers. These recordings and the fruits of several Big Band studio sessions became the backbone of Kormac's new material, just as the old movies and records had before.

The cinematic beats on 'White Noise' steps into deep hip hop with Big Dada artist Speech Debelle's poetic swagger and honeyed tone's sumptuous againstthe brass and key arrangements. 'Don't give me another screen or I'll scream and scream and scream and scream!'exclaims literary great Irvine Welsh on 'Another Screen'.The troubled modern life track ebbs hypnotic and trippy electronic beats with uplifting brass and BBC Radiophonic Workshop inspired audio. Remarkably Kormac approached the world renowned author on his door step and the vocals were recorded the same day.

The apocalyptic 'Drown Me' echoes James Murphy's 28 Days Later and 'Wake Up's unique, brass-heavy take on urban soul features Bajka. The dark and brooding 'Get Up, Go Away' is led by Micah P Hinson's evocative spoken word which poignantly closes the album.

Kormac's debut featured DJ Yoda, Koaste (Black Grass), DJ Cheeba (Solid Steel / Ninja Tune), Messiah J & The Expert and MC Little Tree. DJing at venues and festivals worldwide, the album's success has seen him share stages with Nas, Sonic Youth, Jurassic 5 and Sigur Ros.

Live he can be joined by his 10-piece Big Band that delivers an extension of the solo work. Having performed at Annie Mac's Amp Night she described them as "the most bizarre set-up I've ever seen - but it really works". Fast becoming festival favourites they quickly moved from dance tents to main stages at Glastonbury, Bestival and Electric Picnic. Thereafter they were soon performing across Europe, Asia and Africa which resulted in a tour of Australia with Portishead and The Flaming Lips.

Pressed On Orange Vinyl! DJ/Producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad is a hip-hop icon. As one-third of legendary hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest, his influence and impact on the musical landscape is still felt today. Last year, Muhammad received an invitation from Adrian Younge to work on fellow Golden Era legends Souls of Mischief's There Is Only Now. He narrated the album, playing a DJ for fictional local Oakland radio station K-NOW, while providing background music to accompany the narration. The results were impressive enough to ignite a creative burst in the two producers that quickly produced an album's worth of material in a matter of weeks. Muhammad shares his thoughts on Younge, "He's such an easy person to work with, he has such vision when it comes to music. We really get each other, and that's the other fun part of creating and finding a partner you're on the same wavelength with." Excited to support the There Is Only Now album, Muhammad got to work on a ten-track remix album that carefully re-imagines the original. Looking for a different mix and sound, Muhammad shares, "I wanted to make it as emotional and moving as the original compositions. So even though it's a remix, it has the feeling of an original work. But bringing something else to the sound."

2nd of 4 7"s drawn from production archives. The mood changes to world jazz-funk-fusion. "Dance Dead Isabel" is a mid tempo Spanish-scaled groove w/catchy & funky breaks. "Crushing Grapes's" head-nod tempo transports you to the mountains of South America

Leo Luxxxus, a pastel-clad lover from space who makes girls wet with a finely-tuned, yet vocoded voice. For over a decade he has been perfecting his production, mixing and turntablism across Finland—from Helsinki to Inari—in particular as 1/3 of the modern funk and boogie specialists, the High Hopes crew.

Leo does not indulge in gimmickry; he presents contemporary stylings with an appreciation to old school aesthetics. When Leo is on the cut you can except smooth grooves to be accented with scratches, double rocking and live blends.

The modern funk connoisseur is releasing his debut LP though Amsterdam-based record label Groove College Records. "LXXXIV" puts synth leads from the West Coast next to bass lines from 1980s Miami and tops that with drums from off the meat rack. Expect nothing less than modern funk tinged with Scandinavian vibes.

Leo Luxxxus, a cosmic lover who commands his starship while coasting harmoniously between the planets. Han Solo of this century. Role model of the future.

As a member of Parisian band Club Cheval, a solo DJ and as one part of the notorious Bromance Records unit, Sam Tiba escapes on his own with the release of his 'Samuel' EP this September. With musical influences coming from the American ghetto underground, from Miami to Baltimore, Sam continues to push forward as an intriguing musician with his sensual and dreamlike productions.

Born in Roubaix in 1985, Sam began by studying theory at the local Academy of Music and learnt how to play the trombone, not your average instrument. In 2009, he met with his Club Cheval stooges from Lille (Panteros666, Myd and Canblaster) and they all agreed to start working on a sound of their own, somewhere between up-tempo rhythms with rave touches and R&B. Shortly after, Club Cheval were criss-crossing the planet as DJs and each member also working on solo projects. Their first album together should see the light of day in 2015.

For Sam, the solo adventure started in 2011 on Marble (the record label of his friends Para One and Surkin & Bobmo) when he released his first EP, 'Black Eyed Weed', followed in 2013 by 'The Saddest Show In Town', on Pelican Fly, Cashmere Cat's parent company. This September 15th Sam's new EP 'Samuel' will be released through Brodinski's label, Bromance Records. Following the release of 'Samuel', Sam plans to regroup his music and creative endeavours into an album to be released in the near future.

Sam will play a headline London show later this year scattered with keyboards inspired by Bach, chopped rhythms and mellow vocoder. With one foot on the dance floor and his head in the clouds, Sam takes you up there playfully with his pop and willing soul music.

Peace, Alter!

Peace out!

As an innovative member Jurassic 5, DJ Nu-Mark has long propelled golden era sounds into the future. "Ding ding! True school is in session!" trumpeted okayplayer.com when Tre & Nu-Mark released their freebie EP Another Day, Another Dollar in 2011. The duo knew they were onto something good, and re-upped to create new music. The new album's standout tracks include, "King" featuring Diamond D, "I Know, Didn't I" a savvy flip of Dorando's soul classic, and presented here the reggae-fueled summer jam "Bom Bom Fiya', with "Bouillon", featuring Del and Murs. Single releases from Slimkid3 & DJ Nu-Mark will come on 45rpm vinyl 7'

Miley Cyrus und that POWER feat. Justin Biber waren echte Erfolgssingles.

Cuthead got known to the wider public via his releases on Uncanny Valley but his roots reach way back before the label's start. There was a time when Cuthead and his brothers from another mother threw wild parties at abandoned industrial locations or in the woods around Dresden. The crew, which was known as Kunst:stoff Breakz, also established a label where Cuthead released two albums and one EP as free downloads between 2006 and 20
