Vertigini is the alias of a prodigious talent. To date, Arthur Mukharlyamov’s infectious hooks have only been available digitally. Bordello A Parigi are more than excited to give this analogue alchemist his full vinyl debut. Four tracks make up the aptly named Thunder. The title piece rumbles from speaker cones, thick banks of bass and crisp rhythms crack before smooth strings give way to flashes of melodic radiance. Inspiration lies in the heavens with this EP, he’s leaving the bonds of earth for “Galaxy Funk”. Textured percussion is cut with acid grooves while generous breaks fuel this expedition. A fierce arpeggiator immediately ignites the flip, lancing beats pierce this burbling bulwark as honeyed notes melt in the muscled sweetness of “Final Space”. The journey back to Earth is imminent, but not without one final fun-filled flurry. Rich drum patterns are the foundation for the sticky groove of “Space Trip”. Vocals echo skyward while Vertigini weaves a dancefloor delight to ease re-entry to reality.

Definite Grooves 'Disco Light' EP is a vibrant, disco-infused collection that merges classic grooves with modern production. Junior Jack’s timeless 2004 disco/house fusion ‘Stupidisco’ receives a spread of dynamic remixes from some of the most talented remixers around.

Kicking things off is Spanish DJ and producer David Penn, who takes the stems and gives them an immaculate polish! Taking JJ’s Pointer Sisters sampling goodness and working into a re-sliced, disco-house filter journey with punchy kicks, tremulating basslines and an anthemic piano that is guaranteed to bring the sun out from the clouds.

Next up is Germany's Deeperlove with the toughest mix in the package with it's tech house inspired drums and bassline.

Continuing to make 2020 their own Tropical Disco are back with four tracks of joyous dancefloor fervour in the shape of Volume 19 of their well loved vinyl series.

The EP see’s a welcome return for the outrageously talented and regular contributor to the label Phased Groove. He is appearing alongside a debut for the equally revered Ziggy Phunk and a welcome return of Vagabundo Club Social on a release which is completed by a dynamite collaboration between Kikko Esse & Emanuele Del Carmine.

This is an EP punctuated by the jazzy flourishes that we have come to love from Tropical Disco which sit perfectly alongside a prodigious selection of disco edged funk.

Phazed Groove’s ‘In Motion’ is the perfect opener for this ever so stylish collection. Its dashing groove packs in everything from subtle guitar licks and disco flutes to gentle keys and an ever so sensual breathless female vocal which has likely beamed in directly from the 70’s. It’s a track which belies its laidback notions and is deceptively energetic. Expect this one to be played everywhere from Miami pool soirees to Mediterranean boat parties in the coming months.

Danish artist Ziggy Phunk has seen his star rise rapidly over the last couple of years on the back of a series of sublime releases. His track here ‘Vibes of Nola’ is as captivating as anything that he has produced to date. Built around some incredible keys its funk infused bassline gives it some genuine dancefloor guile.

Over on the flip Kikko Esse & Emanuele Del Carmine’s ‘Funky Tranky’ brings to mind some of Masters at Works jazzier moments as Nuyorikan Soul. Built round some wonderful live bass guitar playing its layers of sumptuous guitar and brass are a joy.

Closing the EP is an essential Latin-edged dance-floor gem in the shape of ‘Calabao’ from Colombia’s irrepressible Vagabundo Club Social. Acidic bass notes and filtered vocals add the grit here. It’s a track which you can expect to be ubiquitous on in the know dancefloors across the tail end of 2020.

Co-produced alongside Edwin Birdsong and William Allen, joyous vocal harmonies dance around grooving basslines, strutting guitar riffs and Roy’s warm soothing tones. Top it off with some trademark vibes and it’s a one-way ticket to happiness, pure sunshine smiles all round.

Next up, a record that became a cult hit of the underground and one that defines the true sound of Toolroom's heritage, Julio Navas, Gustavo Bravetti and David Amo’s 'Raw'. Refreshed for 2022, we see one of France's hottest exports, Tony Romera, deliver a high energy, club focused remix of 'Raw', bringing the classic club record back to dancefloors and sound systems across the globe!

Up next is another heater from Majestic, who debuts on Toolroom with ‘Annie’. Recapping one of the hottest summers on record, Majestic embodies the Balearic, Ibizan heat, sampling Kid Creole & the Coconuts 1982 hit, 'Annie I’m Not Your Daddy', turning a slice of calypso / disco, into a club ready record for the dancefloor. Frankfurt's celebrated producer, Philip Lauer returns to Especial, this time teaming up with Berlin based vocalist Dena for a special collaboration, covering Julie Stapleton's soulful House classic with a modern interpretation across a number of versions (vinyl and digital).

After the success of the Hotel Lauer EP on Especial way back in 2016, Lauer has continued his ascendency with albums for Permanent Vacation and Running Back, as well as releasing a string of sure-fire, dancefloor friendly EPs for the likes of Cin Cin, Futureboogie and Skatebard's Digitalo Enterprises.

Born and raised in Bulgaria, before making the move the music mecca of Berlin, Denitza Todorova has a carved a path with her electronic, dance pop stylings across releases for the likes of K7 and Kitsune Music. First appearing on Make It Stay from Lauer's last album, it jumped out as the perfect partnership to bring the raw, soulful and uplifting sounds of the cult V4 Visions label up to date. Founded by Alex Palmer, the label was part of the UK's early 90s club sound, releasing street soul, deep house and more, in Where's Your Love Gone, Palmer and 18-year-old writer/vocalist Julie Stapleton hit on the perfect marriage of Lovers Rock and Street Soul yearning with the haunting sounds of US House. Presented as a new take on the classic, but with utmost respect, the EP starts with the Club Mix, a Larry Heard bassline joins a marimba melody, lifting Dena's vocals of youth's lost love and pain. This is followed by the Demo Mix, a warm, beautiful string laden original take that Lauer and the label felt had to be included.

DJ Slyngshot is welcomed to provide a deep, tech remix. A name to watch via his releases on his YAPPIN label and recent EP for Workshop, his remix is an analogue twist of hypnotic, raw dub techno percussion and counter breaks builds as string and piano join. The EP ends in the Synthapella, as bongos, cowbell and whistle are added to create a drifting Balearic version for late summer nights and dawn that highlight Dena's vocals in a 'sunrise' light.

Disco Mind keeps the vibes flowing in the New Year with this delicious new collaboration with fellow Italian label Polyamore Artists. It's an extravagant collision of Afro, disco and house styles from Leslie Lello and Paul Older. 'African Layers' opens with rich percussion and organic grooves that bring the heat, then 'Acid Bass' has a more synth-driven sound and electronic edge, but with retro disco motifs. 'There's Light' is a chugger that keeps the pressure on with slapping hits and drum rolls, and 'Winners' then cuts loose with a more sentinel sound full of roomy chords and loved-up whimsy. Useful stuff.

The Illegal Disco Limited series is already so wrong it's right and once again it is the inimitable Monsieur Van Pratt dropping two undeniable edits on this one. 'What About Me' kicks off and is a clever flip of a classic groove that has a Chic-style baseline keeping busy down below natty piano work and with hefty drums powering it on. 'Sunset
Driver' is a chugging retro-future disco sound with Michael Jackson vocals from an elusive demo. On the flip, Van Pratt teams up with Boogietraxx for a bright take on the Japanese viral fav 'Stay With Me' and Boogietraxx then takes over solo, first with the funk-driven 'Moving Down the Line' before closing with the feel-good spark of 'Pretty Good Feeling.'

Perro Bueno is back with a sixth volume of edits that will only heighten his reputation in underground circles. Side A's 'BLRF' brings big but raw jazz-funk energy thanks to the blazing horn and that unmistakable Bueno swing. Flip it over, and 'NFSA' unearths a long-lost Afro groove that has been lovingly reimagined with deep respect for its roots and a sharp ear for the dancefloor. The art here is merging crate-digger nostalgia with fresh club energy that cuts through contemporary dance floors. Reissue of a lost hit by the British composer Kevan Frost, now championed and given a brand-new Dub Mix by Mark Grusane. Up for pre-order now and due late-March on our RSS series!

Kevan Frost grew up in Jos, Nigeria where he became a self-taught musician and developed a deep understanding of rhythm and melody. In the 90's, Frost was a session musician for many studios in London, one of these was unable to pay him so they gave him a few free days in the studio and the result was "Give It Up" as he explains:

"I went in and recorded all the music in a day, and the vocals and mix on day two. This was the days of only having 24 tracks available on tape so I programmed the drums, bass and keyboard parts on C-Lab which was only available on the Atari computer and the samples I made on my Akai S-1000 sampler. Full of floppy disks I went in early on day one and printed all of this on tape. I then recorded the guitar parts. Day two was me layering the lead vocals and Backing vocal parts as quick as I could before starting to mix."

However, the track fell into obscurity with no major label backing or marketing budget. A friend of Mark Grusane’s came across it in Brooklyn at the African Record Centre and it eventually ended up in Mark's hands and from there he edited the original track to a more stripped-back dub mix and began playing it out to great effect on dancefloors.

After a bit of digging, we tracked down Kevan and a fully licensed reissue is due on Rush Hour in late March 2026, including a brand new ‘Dub Mix’ from Mark Grusane.

ROTCIV is back with his new EP ‘Memory’, which marks the 20th release on Beartrax’s label Melodize. Throughout the record, the Berlin-based and native Brazilian producer explores his signature dark, mysterious, and atmospheric vibes shaped by the underground and queer club nights and dance-floors that fuel his sound, refined by over almost 30 years behind the decks.

Maintaining Melodize’s specialized sound deep-rooted in moody electronic principles, the EP opens with ‘Memory’, a piercing, dark, synth dynamic alongside rich tonal textures in both harmony and melodies alike. Unapologetic, yet calming and reminiscent of a slow drive through the winter nights; cold, yet bold, sharp, and comforting.

First to remix ‘Memory’ with a nostalgic, synth-heavy 80’s remix is Frankfurt-based DJ, producer, and visual artist Chinaski. Integrating his signature bold synth hooks into the track, Chinaski knows how to roll in with longing sentimentality. The remix features a bouncier approach with re-envisioned acoustic percussion and catchy synth arps, along with an eery dark disco feel.

On the B side, Rotciv kicks in with ‘Trintage’, which gives a sinister sensation with its hypnotising bass synth lines alongside contrasting, choir-like pads. Seeping with articulate poly-rhythmic synth arps, Trintage guides the listener to be indulged into a dream-like state on the border between both digital and analogue soundscapes, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality.

Next up is New York-based and founder of Samo Records, Facets, who takes on the next remix for ‘Trintage’ with a more electro-grunge techno approach consisting of heavier four to the floor kicks in company of Rotciv’s hypnotic textures. Having shifted the synth melody rhythmically, a sense of space and tension is created within the soundworld of this track. The play between gritty bass-end synths along with softer, textured high-ends helps emphasize the groove injected into this remix.

One last remix of ‘Memory’ by Melodize’s own label founder, Beartrax, rounds out the EP. Available exclusively via digital bonus, Beartrax features his deeply hypnotic aesthetic by driving in ethereal synths alongside cosmic arps and slow-rolling rhythmic and pulsating groove lines.

“Crazy Funky” marks the official debut of Tommy Soul as a producer — a track born from the desire to blend the groove of 80s funk and disco with a contemporary sonic approach. A warm, dominant funky bassline drives the track alongside a vintage-flavoured, punchy drum groove, supported by modern electronic synths and sound details that firmly place it in the present.The lyrics and vocal melody sung by Tommy Soul, reveal an unexpected falsetto, especially in the harmonic tension of the hook “make me crazy!” The goal was to reinterpret the spirit of original disco productions and bring it into a modern, more electronic and club-oriented dimension, while preserving the analogue soul and authentic warmth of the sound. The result is a track with a strong character: a relentless bassline, gritty vocals, an infectious groove, and an energy built for the dancefloor.

Prolific Colombian producer Felipe Gordon returns to RNT to deliver his first offering in a two-EP and album project series.

The records kicks off with the swingy Strings of the Afterlife, evoking classic Chez-N-Trent vibes and moves to the sultry emotive tones of The Fall of A Withered Empire. On the flip, Felipe takes us into high gear with the hypnotic looped synth groove and relentless beats of Clásico, and lets us down easy with the jazzy lilt of Julia y Luis. A truly standout EP, even for Felipe who delivers quality time and time again.

New Zealand disco-boogie outfit Flamingo Pier plant some Brooklyn roots with their fresh new ‘Beneath the Neon EP’ on Razor-N-Tape. Known for parties in East London and their massive hometown festival, as well as previous releases on Soundway, the Kiwi collective deliver a trio of new songs that solidify and expand their signature danceable blue-eyed indie-soul sound.

Lead off single 'How 2 Feel' shows a clubbier side of the band, with a pulsating house rhythm track and layers of angular synth stabs, vibey horn lines, and vocal chants. A firm favourite of the likes of Mr Scruff and Sadar Bahar, ‘Just Keep My Boogie’ is that uplifting slice of boogie that is a tried and tested dancefloor bomb. The brightest of funk keys dance around delicious little guitar licks as those infectious vocals burrow their way into your brain.

Take to the B side for another staple, and go-to gem, for some of the biggest around including, Antal, Hunee, Ge-ology and Sadar Bahar. ‘Happy Music’ is one of those funk-heavy, mesmerising cuts that seemingly evaporates all prior worries and instantly injects the urge to dance, no matter the scenario.

Todd Terje's 2012 EP It's the Arps rumbled the floors of warehouse parties and hedonistic sleepovers alike with lead single 'Inspector Norse' leading the vanguard of electro fun.

Oslo's magic music maker Todd Terje has already gained a wunderkind like reputation for his gentle yet potent productions (we won't mention the 'E' word here) on labels like Full Pupp, Permanent Vacation and Running Back on top of being one of the best remixers money can buy (Shit Robot, Bryan Ferry, Dølle Jllle etc etc). What is there left for him to do Establish a label of his own! 'It's The Arps' is the starting signal for Olsen. And what a splendid one it is. Created from scratch and solely on the mythical synthesizer ARP 2600, it features four tracks (reads instant classics) that couldn't be a better follow-up to his 2011 super hit EP 'Ragysh'. Towering over the assortment is the laser crime scene called 'Inspector Norse'. Defying genres and blinkers, this is finest goose bumps dance music that makes you whistle along, laughing and crying all at the same time - but the rest isn't half bad either. The short, but sweet 'Myggsommer' gives away Terje's secret love for quirky exotika, whereas 'Swing Star Pt 1' and its brother have a (balearic) brilliance and witchery to them that is rarely found nowadays. "Killer edits!" - Gilles Peterson

Monologues boss Ben Gomori has found acclaim far and wide with his official edits of African gems for labels like Sterns Music and Analog Africa (for artists including Orchestra Baobab, Amadou Balake, Oby Onyioha). Here he rounds up four of his reworks of tasty tracks from artists across the Afro-Caribbean spectrum on four edits licensed from the good folk at Mr. Bongo, Soundway Records and Analog Africa.

South African legends Marumo's joyous 'Khomo Tsaka Deile Kae' gets a good juicing, full of triumphant energy, while Black Truth Band's infectious 'Umbala' is stripped back to a slinky, bumping disco groove. An exuberant slice of 1980s Camerooon comes from Emmanuel Kahe Et Jeanette Kemogne on 'Ye Medjuie', where rousing trumpet refrains meet undulating bass funk. Peter Britto's gorgeous lo-fi soca anthem 'I Want Your Love' rounds off the package, its sweet melancholy given an extra bit of energy for maximum dancefloor effect.

Also Playable Mono, the nom de guerre of Rafał Lachmirowicz, channels musical greats and the romance of Italy with the Firenze EP. “Neverland” reimagines Giorgio Moroder’s iconic introduction of “I Feel Love”, undulating arpeggios and clean kicks giving way to an addictive tongue-in-cheek melody of laser futurism and eastern influences. “Firenze” follows. Broad analogue bars call to mind the works of Patrick Cowley, disco funk flirting with a spoken word tribute to Florence in this bright and bold track. Our next stop off is “Bergamo.” Low-slung, this smoky number is primed for the night. Thick thrums of bass are punctured by piano keys and toms, robotic pulses and trills adding a 1970s sci-fi groove to the proceedings. Turning the tables is “Breakfast Date.” Slow and dreamy, this early morning lounge affair lowers the tempo. Considered and thoughtful, meandering melodies border the blurred lines of jazz and funk. The words of “Firenze” are left in the wings for the instrumental close, Lachmirowicz’s synthesizers taking the limelight in this uplifting finale. Ben Liebrand is back with a brand-new single, Together, a masterclass in Nu-Disco groove.. This isn’t a remix; it’s a full-bodied original, featuring stunning solo work by Canadian virtuoso Anomalie (also known as Nicolas Dupuis), who is renowned for fusing jazz, classical, hip-hop, funk, and electronic styles into his unmistakable live electronic sound.

Together oozes retro charm with a modern twist. Funky slap basslines, shimmering disco strings, and soulful, uplifting vocals build with lush pads and arpeggiated elements that all go to create the track’s uplifting vibe. Disco-style string stabs and filtered synths give it that retro-modern hybrid sound, all wrapped in Liebrand’s unmistakably clean and warm production style.

The A-side features Roberto Manolio, known for releases on Cosmological, Nugs on Board, and Musek Records. He kicks off with Deeply Red, a UK tech house-influenced stomper driven by a fat, aggressive bassline and dreamy delayed chords. A haunting Russian voice sample adds a cinematic, retro-futurist edge—like a lost transmission from a 60s space mission. Next up is Machine City Road, a raw, gritty weapon where grinding synths and sharp textures drive the track forward with the force of a distorted electric guitar. It’s dark, edgy, and full of tension. On the B-side, Giuseppe Angeloro—previously featured on Cimedirapax, Havalon, and Polarity Records—brings a touch of italo-flavored euphoria with A Night Among the Trees. Diplo (Life And Death Remixes)' EP sees DJ Tennis tap an all-star lineup of artists from his Life And Death label roster to remix tracks from Diplo's acclaimed new self-titled album showcasing the synergy and close relationship of Diplo and DJ Tennis and their respective imprints Higher Ground and Life And Death. From the suave and expansive sounds of DJ Tennis and Carlita's remix of 'Don't Be Afraid' the mesmerizing and complex drum patterns of Red Axes' rendition of 'Right 2 Left' to the complete reimagination of BEÃTFÓØT & Ashee's 'Forget About Me (Nite Version)' as well as remixes from Danny Daze and Sebra Cruz. DJ Tennis has curated an impressive collection of remixes from Life And Death artists bringing the energy from all directions.

Originally recorded by D-Train, some might say this is one of the most important post disco records from the 1980’s, which appeared on the legendary Prelude records originally. What makes this version particularly special, is the fact it features another important artist from the post disco era Colonel Abrams, who is most famous for his cult classics ‘Trapped’ and ‘I’m Not Gonna Lie’ which both topped the charts in the mid 80’s. Aussie disco lord Dr Packer, who is currently on tour across Europe teams up with newcomer Sonic Soul Orchestra, who flip this into a fresh disco house cut that includes all new instrumentation whilst respecting the smooth vocal stylings of the Colonel. Plus remixes from Ross Couch, & Ricky Morrison (M&S).

Endlessly sampled across the board, for those dreamy guitar licks, killer Rhodes keys and luscious strings, Goody Goody ‘It Looks Like Love / Super Jock’ is a 1978 masterpiece of disco gold. Original copies of the Atlantic Promo 12” sell for upwards of £65 so it’s about time a remastered, officially reissue landed.

Produced by Vince Montana of MFSB and The Salsoul Orchestra fame, ‘It Looks Like Love’ was a Larry Levan / Paradise Garage classic and still commands dancefloors the world over. Flowing flutes, sultry vocals and xylophone twinkles open up proceedings, as those iconic, funk-flavoured staccato guitars and rising strings step up to the plate. Combined they produce a glistening groove that captures the feel-good factor of NYC’s disco apogee.

Delectable disco, fuelled by an undeniable funk that continues to be harnessed, chopped and sampled by some of house music’s biggest players from Nick Holder and Armando, to Tom Trago and Glenn Underground.

On the B side, soul-searching cosmic fluctuations via ‘Super Jock’, with interplanetary vocal refrains stretching out above a full-bodied bass, tight drumming and spacey Rhodes. Montana’s world class arrangement sees bongo-led percussive interludes and dancing keys solos take listeners to a mesmerising galaxy, far far away.

Razor-N-Tape bring out the big guns for their remix package of the Los Angeles Afro-Latino funk band Jungle Fire.

JKriv's remix of 'Firewalker' channels the original live instrumentation into a bombastic, DJ-friendly workout, while Boston-born/Medellin-based producer Bosq steps up to tackle 'Village Hustle' bringing his unique blend of rhythmic flavours to this melting pot of zesty goodness.

This diverse 12 Inch also boasts the first remix and release by the newly-reunited Black Science Orchestra in 15 years! Original founding members Ashley Beedle and Rob Mello take on 'Culebro' and transform it into an pulsating Afrobeat groover. Bringing the infectious bass to the foreground behind a shuffling rhythm layered with guitar and horn samples, BSO turn out a serious heater of a remix and dub, worthy of their triumphant return!
