Paul Hill - Need Me Some U

Actually, a split release between Paul Hill and Nikki-O. Two sides of warm, intimate vocal house music. Tip!!
Paul Hill's side is a midtempo cut with sweet playing between main vocal and background vox. The Nikki-O side is more uptempo and has an affectuous bassline supporting the track.

John Morales - The M&m Mixes Volume 3 B Part A 2x12

'The original process of 're-mixing records' was intended to provide an alternative listening experience which had been optimized for people who went out to dance at Discos. John was one of the early pioneers who loved music, understood his craft and HAD RESPECT FOR THE CREATIVE WORK from which his mixes were derived' Patrick Adams - Super Producer. Writer of more than 30 Gold and Platinum records and back to back winner of ASCAP Songwriter of the year award 1996/1997

This compilation is John Morales' third for BBE. Few can match his contributions to the world of Dance Music be it soul, funk, disco, to today's house music.

John Morales is considered one of the true legends of the mix. And his work some thirty years later continues to be cutting edge and inspiring. His epic mix of Universal Robot Bands boogie anthem 'Barely Breakin Even' is the source from which BBE Records got its name.
No attempt has ever been made to summarise the pinnacle of John's work. This third release on BBE continues that history lesson that John has forged in dance music. He formed The M&M Mix with his late partner Sergio Munzibai, in 1982 till 1990 whose output of over 650 mixes will be unmatched today. John continues The M&M legacy.
From the Rolling Stones to Gloria Estefan, The Temptations, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Hall & Oates, Teena Marie, Aretha Franklin to BBE - we have all been molded by John's everlasting mix influence, love for his work and his Music..
These superb doublepacks present some of John's finest works, and takes the M&M Mix legacy to yet a higher level.

Chicken Lips - He Not In 2013

Chicken Lips

He Not In 2013

12inchDFTD387
Defected
18.02.2013

DESCRIPTION

If you're going to get someone to remix a seminal record, it's a good idea to get someone in love with the source material; Groove Armada, Noir and Eats Everything all fall firmly into this category. Chicken Lips' 'He Not In' is one of those records that everyone recognizes, even if you're not aware of its name or who wrote it. The bassline is an enduring sound in dance music that everyone knows, and pretty much everyone loves.

Groove Armada turn in a phenomenal reworking, teasing the original bassline over heavy swung beats and sharply drawn percussion, phasing the track out of all recognition for a tensely rewarding crescendo. Eats Everything sticks closer to the structure of the original, jacking the beats and bass up to maximum capacity for an explosive, peak-time deep houser. Noir's Personal Edit rounds of the set of new versions; a version which Noir has been playing on the road since the release of the original and its inclusion will satisfy anyone who's heard him drop this live

Running Away

12inchPOSPX135
25.02.2013

Superb replica reissue of the hard-to-find original 12' version of one the true classics of the jazz-funk stratosphere - the amazing and inimitable Running Away by vibes master Roy Ayers. Instantly recognisable from the first bass riffs, this seminal track from the late 70s is a dancefloor staple around the world crossing genres and generations to become one of the most-loved tracks of all time championed by more DJs than you can shake a stick at. Although Running Away is the undeniable star, on the flip 'Can't You See Me' is not to be sneezed at either - a summery cool groover with sweet vocals and a breezy Brazilian feel. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of jazz-funk history

Various - Disco Love 3

"I'm always pleasantly surprised by some of the feedback I get when I put out one of these albums... I mean, liking good music isn't exactly rocket science is it

Judging by some of the records I see changing hands for staggering sums of money though, it's maybe not as easy as it looks. Perhaps seeing past the rarity of a record and actually liking something for its beauty rather than its value is the key. Perhaps being broke is a good position to be in after all. Whatever. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this album isn't about me showing off my "collection" (despite the use of the word "rare" in the title), it's simply my choice of as many good tracks as I can fit on a CD, most of which I hope you'll like as much as I do. That said, there would be no point in filling a CD with tracks that are obvious or particularly easy to find. So rest assured, you've saved a few bob, not to mention the hassle of hiding parcels from your wife when the postman comes, by buying this album instead of the individual songs.

One CD is just straight up music (I've edited a few tracks of course, but that just makes them even more "DJ friendly"). the other is a "continuous disco mix" which basically means it's the same songs without gaps. So you can have a party and just mingle without worrying too much about the music. Assuming your guests like obscure disco music that is. I'm trying to avoid using the term "DJ mix" because it isn't really. I made the mistake of selecting tracks that don't easily blend together, whereas DJs, as we all know, select tracks based on how long and how tightly quantised the drum intro is.

As an added bonus, all vinyl conversion was carried out by Andrew Pirie, Glasgow's answer to David Mancuso, but younger. And taller. With mastering duties by Lynn Petrin of Ebony Cuts. Germany's answer to Herb Powers." - Al Kent, October 2012

Disco Love is a series of fabulous disco records that you have probably never heard of. All superb records presented to you by the legendary Al Kent from the unlikeliest disco haven of Glasgow. Al's been buying records a few years now, usually ignoring the in-demand or more obvious titles and searching a little harder for fabulous disco records that you have probably never heard of. Disco Love 3 contains just some of them.

Not only that, but most of them are exclusive, unissued re-edits, spliced specially for this album by Mr. Kent. And he's mixed them all together for one disc. If you like your disco music deep, soulful and/or funky, then you've come to the right place. It's worth mentioning that Al Kent only plays old music. To enhance his sets Al spends a crazy amount of time creating spe- cial edits. The likes of Kon (Off Track), Rahaan, Theo Parrish and Dimitri from Paris all want his edits when they hear them.

Various - Guilty Pleasures Ep

Guilty pleasure, we all have them. This release updates and fiddles with some serious guilty pleasures that all but the youngest of music fans will recognise. HOD Stash is a series of treasures from a label that shall remain nameless but you'll no doubt recognise.Satin Jackets is the first to revive a track that needs no introduction. 'Dee Baby' removes all the elements that date this classic track and replace them with a different calmer soul. This track is exclusive to the vinyl and will be your only chance to get your hands on it.The last track on the A side see's 'Dee Baby' get the dub treatment and Satin Jackets has created a key laden, familiar, behemoth of nostalgia for you to indulge on.On the flip side we have a homage to another 90's classic from a producer that's literally exploded over the course of this year 'Finnebassen'. Remember Me's seductive bassline and lingering synth's create a similar low slung mood to the original. Finally seeing us out we have EJECA's musical marmite 'Natal' which plucks a very familiar sample indeed as he gives pulls off the impossible and crafts a trance guilty pleasure into an addictive, patient house groover peppered with a typically ravey vocal.

It might sound like an empty phrase, but when Oliver Koletzki founded Stil vor Talent in 2005, he certainly didn't anticipate where his label would be today. Now - six years and over sixty releases later - Stil vor Talent can look back at many magnificent moments in the label's history.

Alcatraz - Give Me Luv Remixes

Alcatraz

Give Me Luv Remixes

12inch1TRAX070
One Trax
04.02.2013

true house music classic, Alcatraz's 'Giv Me Luv' returns early-2013 on the 1trax imprint with a wealth of remix talent stepping up, including H-Foundation, Two Armadillos, Doc Martin, Dodha, Shenoda and Secret Society.

Originally released in 1995 on Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi imprint, 'Giv Me Luv' represented some of the finest post-tribal, New York influenced house music around. With possibly the most recognisable stabs in house history alongside the titular vocal refrain and crunching drums, the Victor Imbres and Jean Phillipe Aviance production was undoubtedly the biggest record of the year and saw re-releases on countless labels around the world.

Now, 1trax, have put together the first remix package in the release's history that truly compliments the original's house anthem status. From the modern West-Coast H-Foundation interpretation to Shenoda's distinct UK version, each mix provides a welcome new slant. Giles Smith and the late Martin Dawson's Two Armadillo's project deliver a deep, impeccably judged take while 1trax stalwarts Dodha and Secret Society provide brooding and slo-mo takes respectively. Doc Martin, as you'd expect from a true house master - also nails it.

A bonefide house classic being reworked by some of the genre's finest talents, old and new, is an enticing prospect and this package delivers across the board.
