House Vinyl New Releases - News

We have been following Belgian producer Ozka for quite some time and were always captivated by the flawless integration of a wide range of influences in his music. Wether it be techno, house, electronica or bass music: he has a unique take on it and it always sounds fresh.

After getting in touch through SoundCloud he send us a whole bunch of new tunes and we were presented with a typical First World Problem. There was simply to much we wanted to release for a single EP. That's when we came up with the idea of a two parter. It's basically an album spread out over 2 twelve inches where Ozka showcases his versatility and craftmanship.

On Part I Ozka showcased his techno side, so it makes no more then sense that on Part II we explore other musical sides of David. On the new twelve we dive into house, electro and even more leftfield orientated non-dancefloor territory. Highway At Night and Kaleidoscopes are 2 beautiful housey gems, moody, sad and funky. The flip kicks of with the relentless electro of Noise Dynamo before taking the foot of the gasspedal with two fantastic leftfield/electronica tunes in the form of Abyss Requiem and Lucarne. A perfect closing.

We hope you enjoy Ozka's diptych as much as we enjoyed releasing it into the world.

"Fall Back" is the first single from the forthcoming debut LP on DFA Records. The track is 8 minutes 30 seconds long. If you like Factory Floor, you will like this song. If you don't like Factory Floor, you will now. The B-sides are exclusive to vinyl and feature 3 separate loops taken from the single, created each by Dom, Gabe & Nik. The LP is due for release May, 2013.

Here lies the final chapter in the first testament of Shocks, and as with the previous three releases, we're granted no mercy. A-side tracks "Trajl" and "Contagious" are a full fledged assaults on the psyche, taunting with just enough melody to convince us of musicality, but never really rising from of the swamp they're stewed in. The B side closer "Klámata" could be seen as a comedown, but after a short while you realize that you've been led only deeper, left in a state of total disarray.

Canyons present PINK GIN, a heaving warehouse spirit distilled from the duo's private rhythm tracks. Originally designed as DJ tools for Canyons to bridge genres while maintaining mass movement of sweaty bodies, Club Mod caught wind of their existence and freaked.

Charting new territory, 'Blame Me' is a future-past curveball that combines pioneering breakbeat, Dance Mania and Bush Tetras spunk. On the wild side, 'Telephone Funk' runs hot with a case of jungle fever, hyperventilating with heart racing exhilaration before the 'Lion Tamer' looses control of the beast in an 808 state.

One sip of PINK GIN will throw you back into the spell of Canyons' early club cuts 'Blues Snakes' and 'Fire Eyes' - the crazed house singles that put them on the map as purveyors of a fresh groove.

While the sublte ending of our journey, with JB's Prends-Garde, leaves you with the feeling that if a season could be put on to vinyl, Pakaloko city bursts forth in shades of green from Berlin to your speakers.
