Born with a natural love for music, he started his career when
13 years old hosting a music show at an Italian local radio station.
He presented his playlists in the most famous italian clubs. At
Eighteen he began working as a technician and a DJ for RTL
1
mixing studio and started the " R-Type " music project. The first
single "18Teen", produced by Dirty House Music, is a success
straight away: it was played by Ministry of Sound Radio, it kept
the top ten on Beatport for months, first position on
Trackitdown and Maurice Noah's remix was the choice as the
opening track on the famous Dj Marcel Woods' compilation.
The follow up "My Favourite Thing" kept the momentum posi-
tioning first on Trackitdown for months, 37th on Beatport and
inside the top 50 on Juno. The remix of the single "Another
Day" by Maurice Noah is produced by Re-Vox with great suc-
cess. With the money gained from sales and mixing in clubs he
bought more evolved synths for his studio (Moog Voyager,
Nord Lead 3, Arturia Origin, Access Virus TI,   Sid Station,
Roland TB303, Korg MS20, Korg Radias, Waldorf Blofeld,
etc.). The Yoky project has come alive. The first single "He's A
Boy" gained great success. It hits the Beatport top ten in the
Electro House hitlist and it has been played all around the
world from Tokyo to L.A. The new album "Electro In My House"
is produced in collaboration with musicians and the singer
Muna . The tracks were appreciated by Irma Records which
decided to publish the whole album . It's the beginning of new
collaborations with producer Ohm Guru and famous italian
DJs.

Deep, deep inside the Hard Drive otherwise known as the non-local universe Light Sounds Dark are in 'thinker' mode trying to make sense of it all.

This time around the Intergalactic Communication Network are on hand; made up of people who don't know each other and don't know there in it; a sort of cosmic sloop for liking minds. Comprising this group are men of liberal science Rick Strassman M.D and Slawek Wojtowicz M.D, music makers from beyond the quantum holograph Mutant Beat Dance (E.P. out on L.S.D. in April) and spiritual godfather DJ Beppe Loda from the time when records began.

Dark Matters Too 'Tales of Enlightenment' is a celebration and homage to these individuals and all the people who choose to go against the wheel.. 'Why is it so important for human beings to see apparent order in everything around them' Rudolf Arnheim 1971.

So after all that what we actually have here is another high class offering of rare vinyl and a few cassette gems too good not to get a fair hearing. Dementia Precox kick things off with some serious shamanic tribal rhythms designed to induce a state of mind for a journey through to the underworld. Popsong's Factory ultra-rare Japanese vocoder jam slows the tempo down as do some old friends from 'D.E.T.' the wonderful Onyx 'S.O.S.' with its layered synths and mega fazing.

CHBB who later went on to become Liaisons Dangereuses are here with the classic cassette only 'Go Go Go!' which is well known by fans. Matched by the equally impressive Hypnobeats 'Giving Head to Kilian' a much rarer affair described as 'neo-tribalism', this is early minimal techno made in 1984 and really has to be heard to be believed. Light Sounds Dark continue to put music out refusing to be holed by the pigeons and there is even a possibility of a website this year... A tale of enlightenment indeed!!

From fashion shows to underground dance clubs of all types, Zebra Katz' and Njena Reddd Foxxx's "Ima Read" was nothing short of an anthem in 2012, so it's only fitting that it now has a limited vinyl press! Deluxe 10" vinyl pressing here with the original, the instrumental and the in-demand acappella on the a-side and a beautiful etching of the cover illustration on the b-side. It comes housed in a clear vinyl sleeve for showcasing the etching.
"Ima Read" got started with a release through our Mad Decent sublabel Jeffree's, and quickly spread with a mesmerizingly dark video that only increased the menacing tension of the track. The fashion world was the first to jump on board with Rick Owens playing "Ima Read" throughout his Paris Fashion Week show (much to the delight of some and the shock of others). Zebra Katz has since gone on an award tour of fashion houses, opened on tour for acts like Lana Del Rey and Azealia Banks and basically appearing in every fashion related magazine on the planet. This 10" cements "Ima Read" and Zebra Katz as a certifiable icon.

Welcome to the latest, fun-filled slice of velvet boogie from Wolverhampton duo Letherette. This fourth EP (heralding the debut album, scheduled for Spring) sees their sun bleached groove truly come into its own. D&T is as exuberant as it is stylish, infectious synth stabs and cut up vocals giving way to full blown guitar shredding, all the better for its sheer daring.

The remix package comes correct with the mighty Clark taking the funk a tad more industrial, via an Italo-disco synth diversion. Label head honcho Loudery evokes the "double O privilege" card for the to lead the players in a cover version of 'Book Of Brilliant Things' from 1984
The original version is a melting pot of splendiferous ingredients. Prague Orchestral strings, Chic bass grooves, analogue keys, plucky guitars and the vocals of soul princessTahamenePark. She moulds the head-on Jim Kerr vocal lines into a slick, sultry, laidback treat. As with past Loudery releases the big orchestral break down is there, this time taking inspiration from the "City OfLight" Simple Minds version. The release features vocal and instrumental versions.

the italian producer, dj, and devoted record collector marcello giordani does not belong to those kind of fellows. he feels what he is doing and he never thinks to much about his various artistic expressions.
its said he bought his first record down in 1988. his premiere in the dj booth was 1992 when he started to play house records in the clubs nearby his hometown parma. later he held a residency at a party called - les folies de pigalle' - hailed as on of the best house nights in italy around the mid nineties.

around that time one of his greatest fan affairs been new york's house duo masters at work - until 1999 when he discovered metro area and his taste shifted from pure house to electronic disco. already in 1994 he started to produce but it took him till the middle of the last decade when his career embarked as a notorious record producer that is dancing between deep house, cosmic disco, and italo.

Ceephax, the pope of acid music of the 2000s, has grown up between Giorgio Moroder's sound and the library music of the BBC. These multiple influences are transcribed again in this triple album which could be an imaginary OST. Producer, composer and band leader Claudio Passavanti sits down with a group of 30 musicians all involved in the cult of Yoruba and carefully carves a modern and amazingly relevant piece of dance music. Sunlightsquare is a London based project created by award winning pianist, producer and DJ, Claudio Passavanti. In 2010 Sunlightsquare's salsa version of I Believe In Miracles (from the CD Havana Central) became a cult success in the Latin circles worldwide, with the support of DJs in the likes of Gilles Peterson, Louie Vega, Jazzie B, Tony Humphries, Joey Negro to name but a few. Claudio's long affair with Afro-Cuban music got him to produce several recordings in Havana, in collaboration with percussionist Giovanni Imparato. Today Sunlightsquare Records release several projects including trumpet player Quentin Collins and saxophonist Brandon Allen, a 10,000-downloads-a-month podcast, as well as producing remixes for record labels worldwide. Sunlightsquare's 5th album Britannia Shing-A-Ling, a 25-piece band live studio recording released in 2011, has been defined by BBC Music as 'A triumph' (www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/zg8r). In April 2012, Brownswood Recordings released a Sunlightsquare remix of Gilles Peterson's Havana Cultura Band's Agita, feat. El Micha & Osdalgia. Today Claudio is also a recognised DJ, performing often at Ronnie Scotts (London), WMC (Miami) and in several venues across the world, as well as contributing as a presenter for Jazz FM.

OVERVIEW:
'When I was 18 I had those albums you'd escape with. When we were making the Footprintz record that was really our aim - to produce an album that kids can listen and escape to'.

Released March 2013 on inimitable label Visionquest, Footprintz debut album 'Escape Yourself' delivers on a level that many dance LP's aspire to reach but few attain; a 'proper' album with each song taking you deeper and deeper into what is an accomplished and well-rounded body of work.

Every journey has its beginning, and as the opening chords of 'The Things That Last Forever' give way to a hypnotic bassline, you know you're on your way. Basslines form a key part of the Footprintz sound, acting as an anchor from which vocal melodies, synth lines and warm chords weave around in an often psychedelic style. Debut single, 'Utopia', exemplifies this ethic with its synth flirtations and optimistic vocal musings adding layers upon a solid core.

As Clarian and Addy say, 'We wanted to work around a concept of escaping the confused years of growing up. 16-25, those are the years where you're figuring yourself out, going through the motions of meeting different people and finding new things'. Tracks like 'Uncertain Change' and recent single 'Dangers of The Mouth' tackle this subject head on, focusing on the insecurities that arise from growing up. 'Zanzibar' takes a lighter approach, touching on the innocence of youth that brings with it, its own simple pleasures.

What becomes apparent throughout 'Escape Yourself' is a real craftsmanship to Footprintz's songwriting. Each track reveals a little more on each listen, aided by the slick production work, done predominantly by the guys themselves in their Montreal bunker studio full of analogue equipment, odd instruments and a fridge laden with 'special brownies'; which goes some way to explain a noirish-haze that permeates through the album.

Having met at an afterparty aged 15, Clarian North & Adam Hunter have experienced most of their adult life together. 'Escape Yourself' distills their experiences, wraps them in a warm analogue fuzz and shares them with the listener. You join them on their journey, and deep down they hope it helps you shape your own.

Sling & Samo join forces with Yourhighness (Rollerboys, Ultracity, Maracas rec) and Max Essa's hippie brother Barnaby Bruce, for this three track maxi singel. Side A brings you the shuffly Belgian smelling "Henry Brainless" and the tropical Lamma Island italo-crooner "Staying Out". On the flip Yourhighness lays down his four to the floor mix for the entire side.

The quintessential first album by Gina X Performance. Released in 1978 on various labels including EMI, ''Nice Mover'' has been out of print on vinyl format since 1980. ''Nice Mover'' has been an internationally regarded electro/disco record with various tracks appearing on compilations throughout the years (e.g. Andrew Weatherall's ''Nine O'Clock Drop''). The track ''No G.D.M.'' (a tribute to famous gay actor/writer/personality) was a club hit on both sides of the Atlantic and remains a commonly heard track on better DJ sets to this very day. It is made up of an infectious slow driving disco-esque beat with perfectly aligned and arranged synth accompaniments. Tackling controversial subject matter such as transgenderism, exhibitionism, and other fetishes , this record has left a deep mark on the history of new wave and electro/disco. The title track ''Nice Mover'' is a cosmic sequenced synth hit and also has appeared on various compilations. The bouncing ''Be A Boy'' is a high energy dancefloor cutter that illustrates the internal thought processes and daydreams of a female longing to become a male. ''Black Sheep'' continues this theme and is a very catchy number with bonus sheep sounds to keep it interesting... The closing track ''Tropical Comic Strip'' starts off with peaceful cricket samples and piano and builds into a bombastic production that is a fitting close to the record. Master recordings provided by Zeus B. Held and remastered by Lafayette Masters, Freiburg. This is a seminal work of electro/disco/wave and is essential for fans of late 70's wave-synth-disco crossover and the like. Original reproduction artwork is preserved on the front (one of the best record covers of the entire scene) and back. Presented on high quality 180gram colored vinyl in a limited edition pressing of 1000 hand-numbered copies.

Hiem, who created the stunning '2.A.M' single with the Human League's Phil Oakey earlier this year on Nang, return with an LP of gigantic proportions.
