House Vinyl New Releases - News

Phonica Records' main imprint returns after a brief hiatus, with a revamped look and a new breath of life, with a solid and all-round excellent EP from Scottish producer Lord Of The Isles.
It's been quite the year for the Lord Of The Isles. He's gone from virtual unknown to established producer with only a handful of releases on some of the most feted labels around - Unthank / Cocktail D'Amore / Ene Records / American Standard. - now proudly joining the ranks of Phonica Records too!
'Year Of The City EP' kicks off with the title track, a jagged track of pure analog swagger. The eerie intro quickly makes way for a dark, arpeggiated synth-riff and an insistent drum pattern that make for a potent combination. 'FS01' rounds off the first side of the EP in pure synth bliss. Based around a chopped synth loop, this is passive-aggressive ambient music - ideal for home/headphone listening.
Flip over and you're greeted by 'Forkx' - an epic Detroit leaning track (Rhythim Is Rhythim's 'Icon' being the obvious point of call), complete with swirling synths, a squelchy bassline from above, bongos a plenty and a galloping beat that is impossible to resist. The temptation to throw the term 'journey' somewhere in here is just too hard to ignore. The final piece to this outstanding EP is another ambient piece that pays homage to early Warp material - think early Aphex meets Boards of Canada and you're not far off the mark. The Lord has risen.

turn up the bass - shake your stuff - it´s time to get dirty again!

Raving Electro techno.

Bulgarian artist Strahil Velchev aka KiNK for the second volume of the "Tracks from the Vault" series.
After the Aphex KiNK EP and KiNK's tribute to Richard D. James, Sharivari releases another 6 tracks from the man, all produced between 2004 and 2009 in Sofia and showcasing again his love for the dirty side of electronic music, from pure warehouse techno to some funky and warm broken beats, with a subtle touch of acid, as always with KiNK. 300 copies pressed on grey vinyl.

Toolroom Records delivers one of their most highly awaited releases to date, with anticipation reaching fever pitch due to the meeting of Mark Knight & Skunk Anansie lead vocalist Skin on their huge collaboration, 'Nothing Matters', complete with jaw-dropping remixes from Tensnake, Capa and the phenomenon that are Noisia.
Further cementing Grammy-nominated artist Mark Knight's production prowess within electronic music, 'Nothing Matters' is a colossal club cut with crossover appeal, able to translate from deck sets to stadium-esque live performances thanks to the inimitable vocals of Skin.
On the remix front premium drum and bass is delivered, as legendary studio stalwarts, breakbeat technicians, and all-round global superstars Noisia turn in a powerful 172 BPM rework that shakes the subs and packs the clubs. Exclusive Toolroom signing and definite one to watch, Capa takes things on a big room progressive tip, plus twisting n' pitching things in a different direction, Tensnake stamps his chunky disco house sound to complete this diverse collection.
Eagerly awaited by all corners of the electronic music scene and beyond, 'Nothing Matters' is sure to contend as your summer anthem, whatever your musical preference...

From Medellín to the Uckermark and back again to question mark - here´s s another Cómeme travelogue for your badass Baedeker. Not long ago Sano left his Colombian hometown to find himself in an old palace in Brandenburg, locked inside a dreamlike basement studio for two weeks with another seven from around the world. It´s been there, as Sano told us, that a blood pact was sealed. And now indeed it is his 'Chupa' (Suck it!) to be the already second record (after Alejandro Paz` 'Free') to emerge from that magnificent Cómeme conclave held at a cottage outside of Berlin this summer. Dancers across Europe already had the chance to hear some portions of it when Cómeme toured the continent and Great Britain shortly afterwards.

At the end of 2006, Erol Alkan was at a crossroads. He'd been voted DJ of the year by Mixmag. He'dmade landmark, expectation-defying remixes for bands he loved: a crunching 'glam racket' reworking of 'Do You Want To' for Franz Ferdinand, a wonderfully wistful reinterpretation of Hop Chip's 'Boy From School', a psychedelic take on Scissor Sisters' 'I Don't Feel Like Dancing' and a genre-defining reworking of Justice's 'Waters Of Nazereth'. He was about to close Trash, the Monday night indie disco that had somehow morphed into the most adventurous, influential and glamorous club night in the world without changing its attitude, musical philosophy - or ever charging over six pounds on the door. Other triumphs lay a little further in the past. In 2006, he supported Daft Punk for their live return at Global Gathering at their own personal request. The year before, he did the same for Madonna at Koko in Camden with a DJ set which she used as an intro tape on her subsequent world tour. In 2002, he'd lent some muscle to another icon, creating the bootleg of 'Blue Monday' and 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' that Kylie performed at the Brits in 2002: the culmination of a craze for 'bastard pop' hybrids he'd been instrumental in creating alongside long-term kindred spirits Soulwax. Then there were his DJ sets at clubs and festivals around the world, in which Erol's unerring instinct for playing the right record at the right time brought hardened clubbers and alternative music obsessives together in abandoned celebration of brilliant music. Though he started DJing in dance clubs in earnest in 2001 after being invited to play at Bugged Out, Erol still considers himself an outsider in that scene. 'Unfortunately, I never had that seismic moment of hearing someone like Carl Craig DJ in '96' he says. 'I feel as passionately about the Manic Street Preachers as people in dance music do about Kraftwerk.

CD1: Bugged Out

Dark techno leaning EP unleashed, w/remixes by various members of Combat clan, giving rise to some diverse & masterful reinterpretations by absolute electronic legends Plaid as well as Dead Fader & Subjex.

Few DJs have truly trashed the rulebook like Fake Blood. When his remixes snuck onto the dance scene in 2008, he shied away from the spotlight and, like a dancefloor ninja, managed to keep his identity firmly under wraps. There were no gimmicks, no stadium-sized headpieces or fancy dress masks to obscure him, just a desire for club heads to absorb his music without any preconceptions. Four years and four EPs on, Keating is still something of an enigma. He doesn't prey on fame, he does very few interviews and he isn't part of a DJ crew: he has always preferred to let his music speak for itself. He's been in no hurry to release a record either - until now, that is. Keating has found a home on Different Recordings, which counts club crusaders like Tiga, Felix Da Housecat and Vitalic among its roster, and is finally ready to present his debut album: Cells.

To ready fans for his debut long-player, Fake Blood drops the 'YES/NO' EP September 24th 2012. The EP features the fan-favourite Yes/No - a blur of samples, strings and bass that has been a staple in Theo's sets for a while - as well as the track End of Days - an apocalyptic and cinematic techno opus. A tried and tested format for the captivating producer, the EP will pave the way to 'Cells' the debut album by Fake Blood set for release 12th November.

Liars' latest album WIXIW's fiercest track gets gargled in the jaws of Canadian hip-hop artist Cadence Weapon, who takes the electro-punk stomper and shoots its beats into new orbits. Sucking out the original's roaring break and laying down his own rhymes in place, Cadence Weapon diverts the flow of the tune while in no way dampening its bite.
Hotly-tipped Bristol based producer Vessel (Tri Angle / Left Blank) and LCD Soundsystem's David Scott Stone also climbed on board to remix the song

One of the fastest rising underground stars of our generation, disco-house sensation Miguel Campbell makes a momentous come back on the Hot Creations imprint with two original tracks from his highly anticipated album with impressive remixes from Shadow Child and MAM.
Now one of the most sought after DJs and producers in the industry, it was Jamie
Jones and Lee Foss who first spotted the Leeds based Miguel Campbell and snapped him up with 'Baby I Got It,' which was released on the label in 2011. The release featured the astronomic 'Something Special', which became the biggest selling track on Beatport that year, now clocking over 4 million views on Youtube! Since then, Miguel has won a DJ Mag Best of British Award and has been releasing and remixing on other labels such as Wolf + Lamb and Outcross.
First up for this release, title track 'Rockin' Beats' featuring Naroe on vocals is a funk fuelled odyssey , filled with spacey electronic madness and showcasing Campbell's dexterous use of vocals adding extra dimensions as the vocoder Daft Punk style rapping rolls through the zappy synths and warm beats. Dirtybird favourite Shadow Dancer makes his first appearance on the imprint with his remix of 'Rockin' Beats'- bass-led and groovy with shuffling percussions, the track soon progresses into a perfect dose of nu-school house on a garage tip. The melodic keys and bouncing percussions are highly intoxicating and prove why the skillful producer has become a favourite amongst heavyweights including Eats Everything and Claude Von Stroke.

The Expression Of Emotions In Man And Animals Ep
It's time to reveal it.We are proud to present of Electronique.it Records second release. The Expression Of Emotions In Man And Animals Ep' is the second part of a trilogy on vinyl dedicated to Charles Darwin studies.
In this chapter we want to represent the relation between listening to various genres of electronic music and the emotional expressions arising from that.Darwin theorized how body language, and in particular facial expressions, change and evolve in correspondence to perceived emotions. We believe that this theory can be transposed into music.

September 10th Sees the long awaited second album from the fantastic XX..Three Years on from the Mercury prize winning Debut, Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith are back with a new album, 'Coexist', and a new perspective. Where 'xx' lent in close to whisper in your ear, 'Coexist' gazes warmly in your eyes. Much has happened to lead to this point: most pertinently, they've grown up.

Alex Ridha—better known to the world as BOYS NOIZE—has been making electronic music and working as a DJ for over half of his life, which is no small feat considering that Ridha is currently only 29 years old. As a DJ, Ridha has established himself as one of the world's preeminent wizards behind the DJ decks, having played some of the world's biggest stages alongside some of the biggest names in dance music. As a recording artist and a producer, Ridha has created his own sound, and pioneered his own brand, amassing a formidable body of work in the process. He has released two albums (2007's Oi Oi Oi and 2009's Power) and countless singles as Boys Noize, as well as doing profoundly influential work as a remixer and a producer for everyone from Depeche Mode, Feist, Daft Punk to David Lynch and Jarvis Cocker. He has also collaborated extensively with Erol Alkan and Mr. Oizo (on a project called Handbraekes). As for the title of his new record, Ridha explains that this music isn't coming from out of the blue. In fact, it's the opposite.I tend to make and produce music only at night,' he says. 'I also generally only perform at night, so this is music that's coming totally out of the black. Also, they say the color black can absorb all other colors, which is a cool way to think about making music. You absorb every other kind of music every possible soundland what comes out of you is something new, something out of the black.

Just a few months after the release of his successful debut double LP "For A Better Tomorrow" and his singles "Andromeda" and "Günesim", Deckard is ready for the next strike. "Echoes From The Past" is an unreleased album that was produced during the years 2000 to 2005 and is finally ready to drop in September this year. After some dusting off, polishing and re-mastering, the 9 tracks sound as contemporary and fresh as back then. Deckard himself calls it "Instrumentals out of a time when beats where still beats" classically arranged drums, assembled with futuristic sound elements already making up the classic dark sound that Deckard is now known for.
The travel into time past starts with "A Black Hole (Part 2)", a deep and hauling tune, that, as the name promises, might be able to absorb you entirely. The following track, "Defunked", is a more club friendly but equally deep song that hasn't lost any of its freshness over the years. Next up, - Haunted Beats" and the title track - Echoes From The Past" are more classical, "triphoppy" and dark, reminiscent of some of the early heroes of the genre such as Krush, Spooky or DJ Cam. Listening to the following tracks, it shows how far Deckard's production and arranging skills were already advanced at that time: The grooving "Endzeit" paints images of gloomy machine halls in the year 2050, "Gedankenjäger", German for "mind hunter", is hypnotic but yet pushing, "Shadows" saws into your ear canals with distorted bass sounds, while "Slow Body Movement" offers a few more soulful and jazzy shades and concludes the album to full satisfaction.
Echoes From The Past" includes 9 tracks, while a bonus track is offered for the vinyl buyers. The limited LP release additionally is sold as a bundle package that even contains a second unreleased album from Deckard's vast archive entitled "Underground und Subkultur".
Echoes From The Past" is releases as part of a two-piece "Unheard & Recovered" series on Equinox Records. Part 2 of the series will be the unreleased solo full length by DJ Scientist, an equally deep and meticulously produced album with great unheard material from his archives.

By now you may have heard "So Long My Love" by Tomorrow's World, a noirish cut of Suicide-meets-Shangri-La's pop that's smooth to the touch but scored with darker intent. The opening track on the latest Kitsuné compilation, it's the perfect introduction to this new duo, a joint venture between London-based singer and musician, Lou Hayter and Jean-Benoit Dunckel of the French band Air. An album of their cinematic love songs- informed by the likes of Factory Floor, Angelo Badalamenti and Lil Louis - is due later this year.

finally repressed !!! afulab welcomes the new dynamic duo from france lowkey & kardinal !
