House Vinyl New Releases - News

Señales, Spanish for Signals, is the new work and debut at Femur by Rafa M. Espinosa, aka Geistform. It depicts a round trip to the darkest side, the sullen and dismal side of our sonic concept. The four tracks, which make up this 12' range from odes to smacking electro beat, obsessive mid-tempos, old industrial echoes and sinister and unsettling atmospheres.

Over the last sixteen years Moods & Grooves has amassed a staggeringly impressive label family that includes names like Theo Parrish, Mr G, Kyle Hall, Rick Wade, Andres & Kenny Dixon Jr. aka Moodymann. This May the legendary Detroit label returns with a seminal thirteen-track album from veteran DJ & producer Joe Le Bon entitled 'House Music Love Music'.

With this new LP Jarno Eerola aka Joe Le Bon demonstrates his inimitable production prowess, garnered from a musical career spanning more than twenty years and encompassing releases on labels such as International Deejay Gigolo Records, Pro-Tez, Plastik.FM and Blumenbeat. Alongside his own output the Berlin-based artist has written tracks and remixes for numerous producers, most notably composing DJ Hells chart- smashing remix of Tim Deluxe 'Transformations' which saw six continuous weeks at number one on Beatport.

Jarno's polished production ability and aptitude for exploring diverse sounds and rhythms whilst maintaining a resolute warmth and depth to every cut is the most prevalent footnote across the course of the album. For 'Ghosts On Cassette' the Berlin-based producer works whirring space-like atmospherics over hypnotic beats and shuffling snares to dish up a smooth and captivating opener. 'For Yasuni' and 'The Road Is Under Repair' get worked over subtle synth patterns and crisp percussion to offer up some of the more emotive provisions on the album. This in contrast to the deep driving beats of 'House Music Love Music' and the more club-ready tracks like '82 Degrees' or 'Like Cotton Deep Orchestra' truly exemplifies the wide-ranging nature of the album.

All in all Joe Le Bon has structured a sublime body of work that can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home or the middle of a dance floor, each and every track oozes depth and sits as a true testament to his abilities in the studio.

After releasing a string of quality EP's for the likes of Charlois, Doppellschall and Permanent Vacation, Amsterdam based artist Dollkraut (Pascal Pinkert) confirmed in 2014 with his debut album "Schimanski's Black Lullabies" on Brandt Brauer Frick's imprint The Gym. The Dutch producer's back with his sophomore LP due February 24th 2017 on Dischi Autunno - new label founded by Jennifer Cardini and Noura Labbani. "Holy Ghost People" sees Dollkraut delve deeper into his recognizable lo-fi and organic sound, inspired by old movie soundtracks, creating gritty atmospheres mixed with the purest of melodies. Album opens with instant hit "Bonnie Said", where Pascal's vocals magically merge with the darkest of bass lines. "Valium" continues the journey, increasing the tempo but confirming the feeling of being in a lost sci-fi movie soundtrack. On "Oblivian", the rhythm slows down again, allowing us to dive even more in this twisted yet candid universe.

We asked a well known Berlin DJ to describe this record, this was his response: Stripped Down / Raw / Essential / Minimal / Referencing golden era tech like: Mr G / Terry Francis / Eddie Richards / Organic / Dynamic / Present / Accessible / Refreshing / On Point / Perfectly Excecuted / No Bullshit DJ Tools / Deep / Dope

Funk dripping debauchery is Hard Ton's latest serving. 'Triple XL' takes its cue from the annals of italo, disco and electro pop, further fuelled by production from Dutch diamond in the rough Tom Holkenborg (better known as Junkie XL). A track beyond tongue-in-cheek, lyrics dance in a devil-may-care dervish. And it is those lyrics that remixer Domenico Torti holds on to for his jackin' house interpretation; a Chicago affair of carnal delights. DJ Overdose comes from a totally different angle. The electro fiend pours ice water on to the original for a frosted vocoder wonder. And to keep the roulette wheel spinning, Andreas Gehm closes. Hard as nails, acid drenched, diva voiced pound wraps up an EP an admirable assembly of tracks.

Moscow Records close 2016 with a fantastic 3-track EP from Berlin imports Roustam and Tolga Fidan. This being their first outing together, the pair deliver a high quality, intelligent journey through minimal house and techno. The record opens with Brodsky Beat; a groovy, dance floor-focused track.Lively percussion and tight bass communicate perfectly with the hope-filled lead to build tension throughout. The Omega Variant on the A2 has a much more abstract feel. Broken beats and skippy percussion play back and forth with deep, spacey hooks and a peculiar synth, giving the listener a sense of mystery. Finally, Growing Up Is Just a Phase is a calming 14 minute trip that uses the entirety of the B Side to tell a story of reassurance and calm. Laid-back rhythms, guitar samples, relaxed vocals and a wandering synth line work together to form the perfect warmup track.

"Even knowing the size of the universe, yet we are not able to imagine the vastness of our interior." C.S.

For the third ep, In Records went to Argentina again, Jessica Diaz did what do the best, a classic deep house music lives in Neper EP

Per Martinsen AKA Mental Overdrive is one of Norwegian dance music's founding fathers. Alongside friends such as Bjorn Torske, Biosphere, Rune Lindbaek and DJ Strangefruit, Martinsen was integral in laying the foundations of Norway's now blossoming dance music scene during the late 1980s and early 90s. As a producer, he cut his teeth making house, techno and hardcore for Belgian imprints SSR and R&S Records at the turn of the '90s. He was a regular at the R&S studio in Ghent, programming and mixing for other artists including Joey Beltram. Since then, Per has continued to produce and release quality electronic music, both under his Mental Overdrive alias (see releases on Full Pupp, Smalltown Supersound, Rett i Fletta and his own Love OD Communications imprint), and as part of outfits such as Frost (alongside his other half, Aggie Peterson) and Illumination/ Chilluminati. Per is featured heavily in Ben Davis and Pete Jenkinson's documentary film chronicling the rise of Norwegian dance music, 'Northern Disco Lights'. In addition to appearing on screen, he also wrote the incidental music featured on the soundtrack. He is also on a continuing mission to overthrow the evil empire of global capitalism through several projects touching in on other fields of artistic expression, and is very pleased that Juno Records once tagged him a 'Weekend Situationist' in one of their reviews. His new album 'Epilogue' will be released on Sept 22 2017 through Prins Thomas' Techno/Not Techno label Rett i Fletta. Per Martinsen on Epilogue: As for EPILOGUE it has been quite long in the making compared to some of my other albums.

Zizkov is the name of a certain shady Prague neighbourhood, where fox experienced a lot of happy, and at the same time sad moments. Favourite place on Earth.

DARTRIIX is a sporadic but permanent collaborative project between two of op.disc's label heads, Fumiya Tanaka and yoshihiro HANNO aka RADIQ. After 6 years of absence, DARTRIIX finally makes their return with this intensive double pack LP 'Flying One Hand', which is a good surprise to us.
During recent years, Berlin-based Fumiya Tanaka has established himself as one of the most impressive figure in Europe's minimal scene after successive releases from Perlon. His tireless DJ touring rewarded in the form of impassioned supports from audiences in Germany, UK, France, Italy and Romania. On the other hand, with a number of quality releases like Eastern Hemispheres EPs on Euro-Moroccan imprint Cosmo Records and highly acclaimed 2013 double pack 'Vida Noir' on op.disc, yoshihiro HANNO aka RADIQ have made reputation as a master of carefully arranged, funk-infused minimal.
6 years of break seems fairly enough for them to re-mature perspectives on their collaboration project. Between Paris and Berlin, they exchange ideas and basis of tracks to elaborate their images on respective tracks. In consequence, those countless interchanges made this 'Flying One Hand' album a deep yet intricate piece of work. Simply put, his album offers up an indivisibly-united ideas and techniques from two of most illustrious producers of Japan's modern minimal music.
