Music should not be restricted by the dubious borders of a so-called genre. In essence, the release of ABS004 entails an all-inclusive selection of Tech and Deep House alongside Minimal House and Techno to offer something for everyone and for those with an open mind.

Argentina’s Sound Process kicks off the release with a thumping roller, perfect for warming up all sorts of dance floors. Having released on labels such as 20/20 Vision and Little Helpers, the Buenos Aires based DJ has been well renowned in the scene for just under 10 years where he’s gained the opportunity to showcase his sound under Enzo Siragusa and Archie Hamilton earlier this year in his home country. Closing the A-side is an exciting new joint venture between two legends. The two Deep House guns fly the Stussko flag to combine their reputable and well-distinguished sound and provide eclectic diggers with a track suitable for various types of listening and use.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Giorgio Maulini showcases his stripped back sound. The Minimal House specialist is the founder of the Swiss Alps-based Underground Town, a vinyl-only record label aiming to spread the groove and culture of the underground music scene in Switzerland. Having signed artists such as Silat Beksi, Michael James, Mihai Pol and Kepler in recent releases, his refined yet uplifting style drips through the B1 and is the perfect sunrise set-ender for those looking to close up shop. Closing off the release is the highly acclaimed and respected Voigtmann The German producer and DJ has been rocking dancefloors and festivals for many years now and delivers a unique take on Maulini’s original to platform his minimalistic techno-inspired sound ready to jump-start the dance floor.

While covering the whole range from hip-hop to house, the London-based producer manages to match the best of both worlds and delivers dusty grooves for the heads as well as catchy dance floor oriented stuff. Although the rhythms and beats often feel nostalgically familiar, Last Nubian always flirts with the fringes of a more experimental sound design while citing Flying Lotus, Mndsgn, Theo Parrish and other pioneers as his influences. Having Blaq Numbers affiliates 2XM and Paso add their two cents to the show as well, makes this artfully crafted tape a family affair.

Cult underground crew BAR Musica return with more gold, this time from label head Bartolomeo with two original tracks and a super remix by Romanian wizard Priku.

Italian Bartolomeo has studied classical music all his life and brings his love of jazz, blues and plenty more to the electronic world. He has released on key labels like Claque Musiqe and Crosstown Rebels but saves this one for his own imprint.

Opener Castellammare is silky and seductive, with slippery synths and stripped back, rubbery drum programming really making for a hypnotic vibe. It is perfect late night dancing material with bumpy grooves while Proprio Tu is an inviting sound world of modulated synths, hiccuping drum loops and freaky vocal sounds. The devil is in the detail of this one which is designed to seep into your brain and stay there.

Closing things out is cult favourite Priku, who ups the ante with his corrugated drum lines and scattered synth effects on a fantastic remix of Castellammare. It's a heady track that oozes class.

Following 2019’s Dupla Ritmica EP, Banlieue is back with a 7” record featuring four tracks produced by Jose Fleury, a Berlin-based producer affiliated to the Infinite Drift imprint which he runs with Banlieue alumni Matthis Ruffing.

Throughout four short tracks, the listener is transported into Fleury’s world: cinematic at times, lush and synthetic but never devoid of humanity, these tracks would fit easily in the IDM / forward-thinking electronic music category yet that would not fully encompass the producer’s idiosyncratic sound. With Acacia’s futuristic electro feel, Garden’s lush and dubby atmosphere, Aue soft haze’s blissed-out mood and 610's upbeat flurry of beats, there are far more diverse textures, emotions, rhythms and soundscapes than one would initially imagine, a good reminder to always remember that there's always more than meets the eye.

Closing out the release is Avidel's Aguamenti. Juxtaposed against B1 with an uplifting melody, the Panamanian creates a track that is unobtrusively Latin and resoundingly celebratory"

BSP // Bispebjerg is a record label that presents music from Copenhagen based artists and affiliates. BSP is closely related to the Copenhagen Underground Posse, music and party collective that where active on the Copenhagen scene for the past 8 years.

Behind the label are Philip Jun Kamata, has been making music for nearly two decades, where he, among other things released the underground bass sex anthem "you dont know what love is" on Hyperdub. J Kamata is debuting on this V/A two new alter egoes; the 313 high tech funk inspired Jun Anthony, as well as his raw electro moniker Sequential Hill.

The other half of the label, Daniel Savi has been active in the club scene for a good while, primarily releasing on house labels such as Underground Quality and Tartelet Records. For this release he hits you hard with his bass alias Savi DJ.

With BSP we attempt to build a universe with Jungle, Electro, House, Booty Tech and their derivative genres. The first release is a V/A consisting of 3 different artists as well as remix from local hero Kasper Marott (Kulor, Axces).

Anie Tera takes the lead on the release with 'Deus Sex Machina' with a dark techno concept, using an organic rhythm with straight drums and a pure analog feels stitched deep into the arrangement.

With 'Il Complotto' he throws in a retro electro mood with many sudden drums fills that float into this lovely melody. The driving arp are accompanied by organ refrains that come in and out.
Opening up the flip side is the Berlin-based Italian duo composed by Laurent Ci & Andrea Caioni, with 'Oper67', a peak time dancefloor track. Here the duo goes back to basics: automating,
shuffling and dancing.

'Eolie' then closes the Ep with a strong nature. The inflected paths which cross each other, the enthralling drums and the acid incursions lines make every moment always crucial.

Independent from the breeze in the studio, these tones must be released into the world. Musik Krause takes it in. It's about time that the tangent Soulphiction/Jackmate - Jena is for some time now a spirit - and to get it together accordingly. The result of the 'krause-care' from 'philpot-ish' tones is delivered by Mr. Baumann in the form of five songs that are old-school yet modern. When these joints from DJ-Nerdkicker or for example Ben UFO are not sorted into the case, then the next 'Krause Dinner' will be a broom served with mayo.

Italian producer and Fine Human Records label head Dino Lenny lands on Crosstown Rebels for the first time this November, bringing his distinct and personal style to the label on the absorbing Doctor, also featuring a remix from Nuiton. The haunting, emotive vocals of Dino impress throughout on Doctor, chugging groove moves alongside waves of dark electronics and panic-struck, devilish synth. From Nantes, France, NABTA is equal to EBM, minimal synth and electroclash as its best. Six years on from his debut album on Cadenza, Swiss DJ/producer Mirko Loko comes with the follow up to 2009's 'Seventynine' as he catapults us into the techno and electronica galaxy with 'Comet Plan'. 'Un voyage entre toute mes influences,' Mirko Loko shares, breaking into his mother tongue to describe the essence of his sophomore longplayer that was conceived in Berlin and later birthed in his hometown of Lausanne after a two-year gestation period. Literally translated as 'to travel between my influences', it's a fitting summation of an artist whose work has respectfully mined early inspiration from Detroit and Chicago that laid the foundations of the emotion-filled productions that we know of him from today. In addition to this, Mirko sees his connection with Luciano's Cadenza Music, a relationship that's been in existence since dot one and saw the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Melchoir, Pedro and Rahdoo make up one of the most innovative crews in dance music, as leaving an indelible imprint on his musical DNA to this day. It's Mirko's strong sense of musical identity that is at the core of 'Comet Plan', a work that's equally informed by the artist's spiritual connection with the Motor City as his halcyon Cadenza roots. And one thing's for sure; he knows how to captivate: take 'Venus' whose trickles of melody and syncopated drum rhythms increases in intensity with each bar towards an eerie crescendo. Then there's 'U Special' that builds the kind of subtle party vibes you could imagine Luciano dropping to create one of those moments to a heaving blissed out dancefloor. 'Kolor' - the album's early single (also remixed by Carl Craig as part of an excellent EP package) is sprinkled with a dusting of xylophones, chimes and other bells as the melody is driven forward for a heady trip across the electronic galaxy.

The Ambient Mix is perfect to play while inspecting the grass growing under your apple tree. This is a good 12-inch single for the industrial balearic summers ahead.

Five years after his critically acclaimed debut album Throwback, Glenn Astro returns with his deeply personal album Homespun.

Marking a change in course from his first release on Tartelet Records, Glenn Astro is set to showcase his sophomore album Homespun, a testament to a visionary artist who has come into his own. Made up of ten tracks spanning 45 minutes, the record twists and turns between electronic meditations, soulful vocals by Ajnascnet, and futuristic electro, carving out a world of spacey eclecticism that is as nostalgic as it is experimental.

“This album is in all facets different from the first one, which was a deliberate decision. No vintage sounds and references, no sampling, combined with futuristic sound design and song structures.I tried to keep it as current and intuitive as possible,” he says.

Known for his chunky beats and fuzzy textures, Glenn Astro has released on labels such as Ninja Tune and Apollo, leaving a distinctive signature on everything he touches.

But Glenn Astro has quietly been crafting a new sound for himself. Sometimes taking detours – morphing into his dark alter ego and experimenting with artist collaborations.

The sound of Homespun is a culmination of several years of reflection and artistic development – however, the album itself was produced in less than three months. “I set myself an ultimatum to finish the album within three months. If I didn’t make it, I’d
have to rethink my career path and keep music as a hobby, he says.

On the introspective first single and album title track “Homespun,” Ajnascent’s vocals lend a sincerity to the melancholic production. “It’s about the regret of not taking chances and giving in too much, but also about taking responsibility and being honest with yourself. Homespun is a nod to nostalgia and a desire for simplicity and prudence, being equally the culprit and the cure,” elaborates Ajnascent.

On “The Yancey,” an homage to J Dilla, Glenn Astro paints his vision of contemporary dance music with shimmering melodies, deep ambient soundscapes, and advanced drum programming. “Moreira” and “Look at You” feel like spaced-out electronic funk hybrids, while “Taking Care of Business” goes back to the future with Glenn Astro’s take on jungle. Other tracks such as “Mezzanine,” “Slow Poke Flange,” and “Viktor’s Meditation” provide the finest dubby electronics.

For our 9th instalment, Holdie Gawn takes the lead and is delivering his first solo EP for Sylphe, while Micawber takes a break. On the A-Side, Holdie Gawn's natural habitat, we find Yborg, a 12 minute long piece of darker, glitched-up techno which moves slowly yet forcefully. Expanding into a terrain of bleeps and dissonant harmonies, ''Yborg'' number remains loyal to the twisted Sylphe electronics we have been used to. On the B side we have T & T, a rolling, broken beat swingy techno-house jam which grooves effortlessly and shows a different of Holdie. Wonky, bubbling basslines and stretched voices complete the mosaic of Holdie's the first B side. Our 9th release will be out in time for our 3rd birthday, around mid-late February.
