As Mood II Swing, production duo Lem Springsteen and John Ciafone will go down in history as one of the most prolific and respected house duos of the last 25 years. At their best, they were simply untouchable, with their drum programming often cited as what set them apart from the rest of the field: always busier and more intricate than straight-up 4/4 house tracks.
Listen to a Mood II Swing track and you're immediately struck by those extra hi-hats, snares and claps that gave the records such power and drive. The fact that those classic Mood II Swing drums also made them crucial figures in the UK Garage movement puts them in a league alongside luminaries such as Masters At Work, Armand Van Helden and Todd Edwards.
Strictly Mood II Swing is a comprehensive 3CD collection of some of this legendary duo's finest moments.
In addition to the aforementioned tracks, highlights include 'All Night Long' and 'Do It Your Way' -, two records that arguably set a blueprint for house music production that is still be referenced by producers around the world. This knack of turning big vocal records into even bigger vocal club records is demonstrated with Kim English 'Learn II Love' and Fonda Rae 'Living in Ecstasy', while their dub mixes - think Everything But The Girl 'Wrong' (Mood II Swing Dub) and Mood II Swing feat. Carol Sylvan 'Closer' (Swing II Mood Dub) - are about as timeless as house music gets.

After a long wait, the rst episode of the mysterious Third Wave Trax series,
is now finally available.

An EP of GOLDEN BUG on LDDLM has been a long-time coming. Paths crosses, encounters, similitudes. But it took all of us time to agree on how Golden Bug should fit into our mortal ethics of fragmentation: we don't want to sound like anybody else, each track on the EP should all sound different. The French but Barcelona based producer played our game, anticipating his future and very diverse album with a spook yet catchy 12".

WILD BOYS was an instant ear-catcher, some proto-funk with a very strong vocal by YAN WAGNER that made it sound like DURAN DURAN on speedball. It was hard to take it to another level but LORD TUSK, one of our favourite producers of the emerging "no genre" (electro-funk) London scene beefs it up, Kraftwerk way. It's moody as we all are.

IK VOEL JE shows the more experimental spaced out side of Golden Bug, we'd call it space rock If we had to. Do not neglect L"HORLOGE, it's slow, dark, menacing but it's a real time bomb if tuned correctly.

Late November will see the release of Hackman's 'Carry On' EP via 2020Vision, backed with a remix from Rampa.

English producer Ben Hackman, better known to most as simply Hackman has made huge shapes over the past four years since making his debut on RAMP sub-label PTN back in 2010. Ben has since gone on to unveil material through other reputable imprints such as Greco Roman, Well Rounded and Futureboogie Recordings, testament to his striking production skills and contemporary appeal. Here we see Ben push on adding yet another driving force in the industry to his associations, namely 2020Vision.

Kicking things off is the original mix of title cut 'Carry On', seeing Hackman employ soft ethereal textures, crisp percussive elements and fervent vocal lines injecting soul and charm into the composition. Ben then implements his signature rugged, drawn-out bass sounds to the focal stages adding the grit and cutting intensity his records have become so known and loved for over the years. A 'Dub' take on 'Carry On' is offered up to follow, and as the name would suggest we're treated to a more refined, progressive and groove-led interpretation of the original cut.

Opening up the latter half of the release is Mobilee/Cocoon artist Rampa's rework of 'The Blue', laying the focus on a hypnotic, percussive led structure to take the lead, while the dreamy soundscapes and sub bass stabs of the original track are sporadically thrown into the mix, resulting in a stunning seven and a half minute steady bloomer. The package is then rounded off with 'The Blue (Instrumental)', seeing Hackman fuse bumpy off-kilter rhythms with multi-layered grainy synth lines, closing things on a smooth and melodious tip.

2 original tracks by Justin, who comes accompained by an excellent producer like Lil Mark, remixing "I Wanna Go On" the second cut of this Pure House release.

Joe Cowie aka Kahwe has cut his teeth in the clubs of North England, warming up for the likes of Levon Vincent, Ben Klock, Leon Vynehall and Prosumer at his Selective Hearing residency. Meanwhile, his first two EPs on Anjunadeep have been acclaimed by Resident Advisor and supported by Laurent Garnier, Larry Heard and Mr. G.

His growing reputation as a DJ has also taken him to Ibiza where he played the notorious Space Terrace, and with his eclectic new 'San Salvadore EP' set for release this November on Anjunadeep, he further establishes himself as one of the UK's brightest talents.

Title track 'San Salvadore' is a laid-back dancefloor roller, full of glistening melodies and intricate synths. 'Prophets' sees Joe indulge his nostalgic side, with bright melodies bubbling above a warm groove and throwback vocal in this slice of classic deep house.

Rounding of the EP is 'Patterns', a surefire party-starter built around a killer bass groove. A serious dancefloor weapon in the right hands.

Feel good dance music, smile n' drive mutant disco with remixes by Ilya Santana and Sleazy McQueen. Evol Ai, artistic moniker of Slovenian based musician, producer and dj Alan Roposa, represents the emotional half of his musical orientation, while the other half Qualiass aims more at his energetic soundscape. Evol Ai is smile hunter and emotion cultivator, knowing that smile and tears come from the same place. It's the love in reverse, it is love in chinese and it's what the "I" loves.

Background wise, Alan's first major 12" Qualia release titled Qualia Nation EP came out in 2004 on Minimal Records. Thru the past decade, he's been musically evolving his aliases from Qualia, Qualia Six, Qualia 6, Qualias Dead to Qualiass and Evol Ai, wrapping over 20 releases on various labels around the world (see discography belew). As well as he did remixes for Laurent Garnier, Franz Ferdinand, Lindstrm a.m.o.

Besides producing, making music for video games, advertisements and theater, Alan's been involved in various bands as a guitar player and the man behind the machines, most notoriously with fellow studio partner Yanoosh (Ohmfat), with whom they had a series of fresh and unique sounding live performances, which concluded in 2011 as full band support for The Klaxons at various festivals and clubs. Besides distinctive live shows with the band, Alan also tends to put distinctive element in his dj sets, which are a kind of a hybrid mix between dj, live and re-edit approach from tech to disco. As such, Evol Ai and Qualiass sets always leave the dancers satisfied and fulfilled with eclectic and broad range selection of music, feel-good attitude, creative mixing, "fu*k the genres" storytelling and "let's have fun, because we are not rocket scientists" stage presence.

In 2012 he started doing music under the name Evol Ai, debuting with first ever track La Fu on Nang's Beach Disco Sessions 3 compilation by Ilya Santana. His first solo release, two track La Fu EP came out few months after on respected label Nang Records and got support from many big names in nudisco, deep house and house scene, with the track La Fu selected as one of the favorites at the time by Bottin and heard on numerous mixes and dance floors around the world.

'Mouth' follows acclaimed lead single 'Giudecca' that was reworked by Factory Floor's Gabe Gurnsey. Now, with Running Back co-founder and Tuff City Kid Gerd Janson - often referred to as 'the DJ's DJ' - and his label affiliate Shan on remix duties across Club, Instrumental, 808 Culture Dub and Acid versions, 'Mouth' is set to propel Ghost Culture to new heights and further establish his well earned position as one of the most accomplished new acts on the musical landscape.

After a 3 year hiatus making techno for various labels, Orlando B returns to his deep house sound which gained him recognition with EP's on Yore, Undertones and Seven Music. This time he brings us three contrasting house cuts on his new label 'Contemplate Recordings' which will now be the primary output for his deeper productions.

Title track 'Across The Trax' kicks things off with a funky, down-tempo house joint! Although the BPM count is low the track has plenty of swagger about it with jazz funk chords jamming over a quirky yet solid drum pattern. These elements are propped up with a deep 'suby' bass line. The track gains momentum by adding more percussive and harmonic elements before peaking with a saxophone melody played by Mr B.

Track 2, 'Night Walker' is primarily a club tool designed with dance floors in mind. A 'late night' hypnotic groove filters in gradually over a restrained kick drum whilst hi-hat and snare rhythms are introduced. After a minute intro', a 909 kick finally drops which lifts the energy of the track whilst the chord hook continues to lock you in to the groove. The track is purposely stripped back to allow the DJ to mix creatively as they see fit.

To contrast the raw stripped back nature of side A, side B track 'Jimmy's Groove' is a classic sounding deep house affair with plenty of musical flair to make it stand out from the crowd. The main motif, a rising jazz chord is played throughout over a solid house kick and bass line. Plenty of musical elements are introduced as the track progresses. Classic house-piano and string chords, an emotive vocal sample and jazzy lead synth' lines all have a part to play in this 9 minute epic, which will reward repeat listens.

Presenting us with three different takes on deep house, this EP will have something for every- one. Whether it be in the club or for home listening. An essential addition to the record bag.

Nathan Melja is the same young Frenchman whose debut EP we released under the name Melja late last year. Since then, he moved to New York and worked at Mister HQ for a few months, manned the light booth at the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday parties (DJs make the best light guys), and spent most of his time outside that making music. Leo Draws is the culmination of that music-making, two murky but beautiful tracks centered around vocal samples and one off-kilter number aimed at the dark corners of the dancefloor.

Agostino Casillo, born in 1985, begins to approach music in the late '90s, influenced by the house
sounds that characterize those years. Never shut up in one genre, his desire to experiment led him to
deepen the knowledge of all the trends related to electronic music, from 'house to techno, from deep
to nu disco. Out of every scheme, his productions are very eclectic. He is currently resident in one of
the most innovative party of Neapolitan underground scene, Nice To Be.
In 2013 he release his first track Sick on Stop Clone Music, in January 2015 his second track My
Vision was released on Nice To Be Records.

The EP contains four KRL dancefloor cuts and three skits that tap into his Hip Hop roots.

Chicago legend Marshall Jefferson gave the world many classic records over the years including this influential proto-deep house gem way back in 1986, helping to solidify a blueprint & sound for numerous producers to come in the following decades.

His work as Jungle Wonz always went deeper than most, steeped in soul & emotion, way ahead of the game & incredibly advanced for the times. "The Jungle" is no exception, a blistering, melodic journey, the perfect vision of House.

Repressed & remastered for 2015 & featuring all original label artwork, with permission from Trax records "The Jungle" is now available again to be rediscovered, a truly essential record that stills sounds as fresh & contemporary today.

Kito Jempere will be a new name to many with only a handful of productions and remixes under his belt but that's the way we like to do it here and we're proud to play a small part in helping introduce his production prowess to a wider audience. The St. Petersburg native came to our attention following an invite for Jimpster to play at one of his legendary outdoor summer parties in his home town. A friendship was born and when the brilliant demos arrived in the mail, it wasn't a hard decision to agree to release them.

Confusion kicks off the EP in a blaze of rattling percussion, layers of cowbells building the groove whilst the glitchy pads shift in unison with the thick moogy bass. Extra splashes of crash and live snare rolls add a sample-heavy energy and enhance the live feel laying down the foundation for the vocal sample. This one is the perfect moodsetter with the constantly moving chord progression keeping your interest and the fat, analogue production adding extra warmth to the sound.

I Get This Feeling follows, treading a similar sonic path with hints of live breaks and percussion loops injecting movement into the loping house groove. Dubbed out vocals and horn samples add a definite mid-nineties feel to this one with a nod to Guidance or UK labels DIY and Paper shining through.

Flipping over we have a whopper of a remix from Jacob Korn who has been on our remixer hitlist ever since his She release blew us away in 2011. The German producer has been killing it with every remix and original production since then so we were over the moon when we heard he loved the original track and would be happy to get involved. As it turned out we got not one but two absolute beauties from him. The vinyl version bounces along perfectly over it's nine and a half minutes remaining deeper than deep yet keeping maximum energy flowing with the Wild Pitch-esque vocal stabs and dramatic build ups and breakdowns.

The digital bonus version offers a completely different vibe with Jacob opting for a straighter groove, an intense repeating bass note and layers of stabs all making for complete dancefloor ecstacy. Tried and tested by Jimpster on his Boiler Room set and recent live gigs and looking set to becaome the secret weapon of many in the coming months.
