The Nuclear Family - Come Dine With Us

The Nuclear Family return with the follow-up to the summer's After Effects EP - another four tracks of deeper electronics for discerning DJs and dancers.

The title cut is a throwback to the days when we made music in our bedrooms with whatever cheap-ass drum machines and synths we could lay our hands on, and we've invited one of our favourite artists, Atlanta's Moon B, to lend his magic touch to a remix.

On the flip, we drift into dubbier climes before dropping the tempo to close things out on a spaced-out electro tip.

Glenn Astro - Tearz

Groove-Madness Part II
Glenn Astro is the groove wizard. His new four-track-EP TEARZ is the travelogue of an expedition through the misty jungles of Chicago House, UK underground and Future Sounds of Paris.
The EP - Tearz
Those who know his style will quickly be familiar with Glenn Astro ´s heavily syncopated and fluffy takes on contemporary House Music. With a timeless concinnity his tracks float over the dancefloor like fleecy clouds on a balmy summer morning.
Together - the very first track on this EP, sets things clear within the first few bars: Welcome to the wonderful world of Glenn Astro! A funky bassline, a well-hung synth and beats from another world are woven together to a deephouse-monster that grabs you after seconds and binds you to the dancefloor 'till the end of time.
Back to how it was, with its massive Wobble-Bass, raises the tempo while shuffling its way along the deep paths of string-loaded UK-groove history - straight into a clear blue 2013-acid-heaven. The title track Tearz, same as all tracks on this EP - is barely scratching the 5-minute mark. Tearz takes the listener on a dirty sashay deep south, where the claps are still handmade, the drums crisp and an irresistible hook-line cries for endless repetition. Everlasting afterhour-happiness.
Get Up, the final chapter of this stunning EP, gives you a ride back to good old Chicago with its reminiscence to - house as a feeling'. A pleasant time journey to the golden age when underground club culture brought people together in cosmic peace and harmony - casually reappointing the theory: Only heavy shuffle is the right quantization

Romanthony - Bring U Up (2012 Remixes Vol 2)

Bring U Up originally appeared on Roman's Blackmale label in 1995 as a rumbling slice of New Jersey garage complete with gospel samples and Romanthony collaborator The Trojan Horse. It was a bit of a cult favourite with underground heads like DJ Deep. It wasn't until Roman completely re-produced and re-sang the song in 2000 that it fully took on anthem status. Out went the heavy kicks and hypnotic moods and in came James Brown horn stabs and a live beat that sounded like Bernard Purdie had joined him for the session (the drums were actually provided by Roman himself). The result was an instant club hit with everyone from Pete Tong to Francois Kevorkian that reached (a very respectable 74) in the UK national charts.
On this 12' PBR Streetgang deliver a wonderfully deep modern house groove, Toby Tobias delivers 2 mixes straight out of the 90s basement and Glaswegian wunderkind Barrientos offers a kind of sun-kissed Gypsy Woman style re-invention.

Route 8 / Dorylus - Ep

Route 8/Dorylus

Another two new artists for Bokhari...

Two 707-led live jams recorded straight to cassette from another Hungarian superkid, Route 8.
Both tracks have plenty of cassette hiss, sound like they could have been released by Virgo in 1989, and are oozing with machine soul.
If Route 8 does live in a Village, count me in for his Village fete ;)

We don't know a lot about Dorylus, but we do know that a broken Korg Delta with only a handful of keys working was used, and that a Poly6 blew up while making Spring Delta.
Once again, this track is full of vintage Roland drum machinery, and clocking in at over 8 minutes is a journey packed with beautiful chords and strings.

Demuja/the Knight Cats/tijn/jekyll - 124black 003

124Recordings return with the third instalment in the 124Black series. This outing very much carries on in the same vein and spirit of previous releases, showcasing new and upcoming producers.First up is Demuja.Fresh from his work on Shadow Child's Food Music label with 'Everytime'.Less is most definitely more here,as he strips the track down to a heavy kick, rumbling low-end and a vocal hook that just goes around and around in your head, set against sharp hats and a metallic stab.Next are two producers based in Paris-The Knight Cats.Having released on Nervous and Trax Records, the influence of Detroit and Chicago music of the late 80's/90's can clearly be heard on 'We Know That',with its Roland bassline and Casio RZ1 hats leading the track in a darker direction after the breakdown.Next is another newcomer to the label.tIJN debut 'Diss You' follows on from his 'Silver Lining' release with Djebali.Stepping away from the traditional 4/4 beat,he opts for a rolling breakbeat and kick driven bassline with plenty of MPC thrown in for good measure.Last but by no means least the EP closes with Jekyll's 'Transition Dub'.Rattling percussion sets up the relentless groove of the track, with a hypnotic vocal and futuristic sounding bassline ending the release very much on a high.

The Kicks - Rebirthday-party

The Kicks

Rebirthday-party

12inchKICKS001
25.10.2013

The kicks started as a collective of different musicians, electronic & instrumentalists, that gathered together under one roof just for the fun of it, coming together and jamming at their own expense.

A jam is a jam. There's no aim, no target. It is free from expectations and just like that the tapes piled up with no specic style or genre lines.
'Whatever happens, happens' is pretty much the attitude that created a label, not out of necessity but out of convenience of being free to release the more outstanding cuts recorded, regardless of their personal denition.

The rst release is from the curators and creators of the project, Maayan Nidam & Alex Picone. The record starts with the psychedelic tone of Alice in the desert, continues to a still hypnotic yet down to earth 020 and ends with the stabbing butt shaker Think about it.
The next releases will continue featuring Picone & Nidam, joined by cool cats like Aquarius Heaven, San Proper & Cesar Merveille.

Having previously reissued "I Want You To Know", the 1991 gem from Simonelli's Groove Committee project, Deep Down Slam now return with a remix package. Leading the way is Italian House producer Nicholas in collaboration with Marcoradi, with the original's vibe very much intact but complemented by some fresh new beats and arrangement. The Second Remix comes from French House producer DJ Steaw who brings the usual quality and gives the remix the classic Steaw touch we're used to know. Zurich based Italian producer Demetrio Giannice conjures the spirit of vintage Tom Moulton on his remix and Deep Down Slam have also included Simonelli's Original Bonus Beats version from 1991 that was mastered by legendary NYC mastering engineer Rick Essig.

Julian Alexander - Hustlin' Ep

Coming from the darkest depths of South American jungle but raised in city Utretch in Holland, Julian Alexander is a name that might not have fallen on many ears as yet but we guarantee you'll be hearing a lot of this 18 yr old powerhouse in the future ⦠With a background in jazz and a trained multi instrumentalist , exploring Hip Hop and underground House and UK Garage, Julian soon started to craft a unique style and put his own slap and funk into the mix. Focusing on a deep powerful sound with plenty of pound he quickly caught our attention as his meaty, stripped down minimalism explores an even darker chamber of the 'dungeon' .

Julian's Hustlin' EP delivers the kind of tracks that keep the floor moving , essential tools that can be the perfect transition or the spark that lights the fuse on on the dance floor. Can you believe he made the track UNDRG at the ripe old age of 16 years old. It really blows our minds to think he made it 2 years ago and it still sounds fresh and futuristic. As with all our releases these jams are tried and tested and proved to be very useful for building the tension and getting those fist pumping. Their solid, tracky , bass heavy vibe will have no problem bothering even the biggest bass bins .
