Constantly mutating and branching out, Braiden is at the pinnacle of bass music coming out of London. As one of its most able DJs, he employs an amalgam of sophisticated techniques and a selective imagination which takes in everything from sumptuous house to the most developed bass music, stopping by future garage, UK funky, juke and unpredictable techno on the way.
Braiden rose to fame as one of the regular Dj's on Rinse FM. As a producer he has kept a lower
profile, having had only one release on the now defunct Doldrums (Joy Orbison's first label) in
2010. He has also remixed SBTRKT and Jacques Greene in subsequent years.
Rush Hour is proud to release his 2nd single to date. One where he shows his musical versatility.
'Belfry Tower' is a tough, dark and upfront house track, yet seeping with enough 21st century soul
to make it stick. On the flip we find 'Paganini', a rhodes laden and percussive driven piece that
builds around a seductive female vocal. A mellowed out track with enough drive to keep the energy floating.

Always hard at work unearthing interesting new projects or forgotten old gems, Opilec Music is now serving up a retrospective compilation of highly esteemed Chicago producer Jordan Field's best work from 1986 - 1991.

Field has been active now for some thirty years (on labels like Rush Hour, Headphoniq and Mo Wax) but his best work was arguably done in his first decade or so. Now Opilec boss I-Robots has been given access to a collection of Field's early recordings and has selected, compiled & conceived this project himself. It will be presented as a full-length album but will also arrive in a few select EP parts, with this being the first one.

Says Jordan about the project "This album is one of my most important works to date, as it contains recordings captured during a very special moment in my life circa 1986-1991. At this point I had much knowledge about DJ culture and the art form of house music, I was a product of my environment. I was young, but I had already experienced so much in my first 5 years of absorbing it all! While that may not seem like a lot of time, you have to understand House Music was not even a decade old at this point. What's important for me to explain is I had already gone through my baby steps by the time I was recording the trax that are on this album. This is the point where I was at the next level, chapter 2." Up first is the classic jack of 'That's How It Is' with its perfectly analogue synths and drums conjuring a warm, human and organic mood. Acid lines and slapping percussion all interact and ooze Chicago house authenticity.

'The Answer' is a much rawer and more dishevelled sounding affair with lumpy, rough hewn drums and crisscrossing percussion that screams to be played loud in a warehouse. 'Future Thought's' is alive with the sound of classic Roland cowbells and shuffling drums. It's deep and mystic and sounds as if it's come from somewhere far off in deepest darkest space. Finally, 'Rhythm of Romance' gets a little sleazy with its tight loops, thumping kick drums and mechanical metal hooks. They sound all out of control but are off set by some seriously sombre chords in the latter half.

Often imitated but never bettered, this is the true sound of Chicago house music in all its forms from one of its finest sons.

The ICEE HOT label has never been busier, and that active streak is set to continue with another new addition to the roster: San Francisco producer Roche (a.k.a. Ben Winans). Having previously released music on Hieroglyphic Being's Mathematics imprint and 100% Silk, Roche comes to ICEE HOT with quite an impressive resume, and this two­ track outing is the latest chapter in what's quickly becoming an excellent body of work.

The a­-side offers an enticingly tripped­ out journey; full of swirling synths and twisting techno rhythms, "Depths" clocks in at more than 11 minutes in length, but every second is worth savouring. On the flip side, "Seers" brings the proceedings back to Earth with its snapping snares and insistently funky bassline, although the track's alien melodies do keep things enjoyably odd.

The sexiest DJ duo on wheels steers their way back into the hearts of house music fans everywhere with "What You Believe," a 2-track vinyl-only EP. This sixth installment shows a different side of the duo... Here, in contrast to their past vocal collaborations with Corbu, Gry and Bob Moses, they opt for a pair of lush dancefloor instrumentals, delivering their most DJ-friendly package to date.

With this new four-track EP by Rai Scott the slowly emerging producer moves away from being the enigma that appeared on a split 12" with Brad Peterson that launched the Inner Shift imprint in 2012. And by the sounds on this EP, she's someone to be noticed. Preceding her forthcoming debut on Ornate, Scott provides another four-track called Wave Sound for Inner Shift Music. It's the fourth release for the label this year and "We Love You" certainly earns its place as the record's A1; sweet and meaningful deep house. "Keep On" is a dubbed out, bassline driven tribal journey of drums and low-end rhythm completed by emotional chords that eventually takeover, while "Cats and Water" is on a funky, stripped-back and loopy '90s techno tip. Subb-an is back with one of the most hyped tracks to land on Crosstown Rebels in recent times. A collaboration with Cedric from Azari & III under new moniker S.Y.F (Starving Yet Full), 'Say No More' shows the wunderkind producer on a wholly satisfying song-based tip. A killer weapon for any peak-time dancefloor, it's a bumpy infectious ride with a wonky edge - steeped in the soul of Cedric's vocals rolling over immaculately crafted grooves. The 'Terrace Dub' drops most of the vocal and takes a deeper darker turn, made with the DC-10 terrace in mind. Crosstown favourite Mathew Jonson takes over the B-side with a languorous, sprawling rework, weaving a squelching bassline into the bubbling soundbed with a backdrop of cosmic synths.

Subb-an's rapid rise to prominence as a DJ, producer and one of the most exciting new British live acts of recent years is testament to his hard work, natural talent and wholehearted commitment to electronic music. Named as DJ Magazines 'Best Breakthrough DJ' in their 2011 end of year awards, Subb-an's prodigious studio talents have seen him release on Crosstown Rebels, Visionquest, Spectral, Saved, My Favourite Robot, his own flourishing imprint One Records and deliver much lauded remixes of Jamie Woon, Lana Del Ray, Noir & Haze and Hollis P Monroe the past couple of years. A protégé of Damian Lazarus and Crosstown Rebels, Subb-an joined the crew on the 10 Years world tour last year playing multiple dates as well as featuring in the other-worldly Day Zero event this year and last. The hotly anticipated debut album is due in September on the label.

Fresh from delivering a package of 'Blurry Remixes' from Mathew Jonson's latest album 'Her Blurry Pictures', Crosstown Rebels can't get enough of this man's studio masterstrokes. Jonson is one of the most well respected names in electronic music with past releases on M_NUS, Perlon and his own Wagon Repair label. Jonson has recently focused on his Cobblestone Jazz outfit (an improvised live 3 piece collaboration techno project) and the extended four-piece, the Modern Deep Left Quartet as well as Midnight Operator (a raw, rough, up-tempo partnership focusing on dance-floor bombs), each of which have earned him widespread success.

Debut vinyl release from William's 99¢ Dreams. The A1 ( The Rent') gained notoriety in Brooklyn for it's clever vocal sampling and one-of-a-kind content, which serves as a commentary on the increasingly tenuous economics endured by a growing cross section the borough's artistic community. As a tribute to his home city, includes two inspired Detroit-style cuts on the flip.


Biography: A familiar face in Brooklyn's underground house and techno music circles, William Hubenschmidt's formative years as a record selector came as a radio host on the University of Michigan's 88.3 WCBN-FM Ann Arbor. There, his love of American blues and avant-garde jazz crossed with his native Detroit's progressive music legacy.

Today, he produces recordings for his 99¢ Dreams label. As a deejay, his expansive and soulful sets capture a rapturous musical conversation continued since first gracing the airwaves. As an artist, his uncompromising taste for deep Midwestern vibes and soulful New York house has earned the respect of many esteemed peers.

We can't remember the last time we came across a 7" single of straight-up deep house. Certainly, it's a novelty, though there's little novel or cheeky about the two tracks showcased on this diddy, coloured vinyl release from Spain's Minuendo label. 2DeepSoul's A-side, "Home", is effortlessly melodious - a warm, rich and enticing blend of shuffling rhythms, swirling chords and the kind of blissfully electronic melodies that make you want to dance with your eyes shut. There's a more organic and quietly soulful feel about Owen Jay and Melchior Sultana's flipside effort, "Deserted". Blessed with a delicious double bass line, bespoke keys and a whisper of Motor City techno (in terms of the electronics, at least), it's a sublime chunk of sensual deepness.

Dutch dj/producer De Sluwe Vos comes with his first ep for 4lux. Three mental and hard hitting club tools in Broken Snare, Poltergeist and The Bullet. De Sluwe slows down the pace on The Feeling featuring the voice of Beaumont Livingstone.

After debuting for the first time at this year's We Are FSTVL, producers/DJs MK & Lee Foss and singer/songwriter Anabel Englund have announced their first official release together as Pleasure State. Coming out on Jamie Jones' and Lee Foss' label Hot Creations, the group announce the highly anticipated release of 'Ghost In The System' on December 1st.

Pleasure State is a project driven by the group's unusual implosive chemistry along with a vision to create melodic and impassioned house music. Their style is dark and sensual with haunting vocals, pulsing beats and uncensored subject matters. Successful in their own right, MK, Lee and Anabel bring a wealth of talent, experience and creativity to this new and exciting group and Pleasure State acts as a natural extension of who they are as individuals.

After Lee Foss met the intriguing Californian talent Anabel Englund, he brought her into his existing collaboration with house heavyweight MK, literally igniting sparks between the group, whose union was formalised with the stand-out track 'Electricity' for Hot Creations. Pleasure State have carved out the time all over the world to get together and create, and they have now delivered this exceptional EP.

The evocative 'Ghost In The System' is inhabited by a sinister presence created by Anabel's chilling vocal which is accompanied by a bouncing bass and distorted rap and the result in a full on haunting of an atmospheric dance track. The EP features the politically charged and hip-hop influenced dance record 'Subject Matter' and a 12 minute remix of 'Electricity' from Detroit techno legend and Grammy award winner, Carl Craig.
