The small and perfectly formed imprint's latest release from Giovanni Damico picked up support from the likes of Larry Heard, Norm Talley and Mr G and the follow up will no doubt gain similarly hefty support.

Following superb releases on Tartelet and Hypercolour-affiliate, Space Hardware, the promising German native, Glenn Astro, gets the EP off to a punchy start with the whacked-out rhythmic funk of 'Strings'.

Big Bait & Flumo Recordings affiliate, Chocky and Rauld Dancesol both serve up languid, cut back tracks in 'Blow Down' and 'Too Much Saturday'. Utilising busy atmospherics and swollen bass to keep you hypnotically locked from start to finish, both tracks are rich, warm affairs.

Leon Vynehall's rich vein of form continues with his remix of Glenn Astro's 'Strings'. Taking cues from the original's heavily swung, broken groove, the 3024 and Clone Royal Oak alumnus melts jazz licks and spaced out chords amongst the robust drums.
The final offering from Gnork illustrates the diverse nature of this release with cosmic intonations, rapid rhythms and a submerged tone combining to form truly deep, late night techno.

Having welcomed the likes of Citizen, Ejeca and Rhythm Operator into the W&O Street Tracks fold on the last two releases, label bosses Waze & Oddysey return to helm this fourth edition. Their irrepressible formula for classicist referencing house music is very much on display with lead track "Hold Up (Yeah You)" deftly matching emotive pads with a bumping groove and one of those simple yet oh so very effective vocal hooks. Another potential W&O hit in the making. Flip over and "I Feel Your Worth" might sound more restrained to begin with, but the duo are just teasing; filtered swathes of synths and vocals gradually come to the fore with explosive results

Julio delivers another peak time track. First release on his own label is a hybrid between Uk garage basslines, vocal samples, and a steady chicago-ish bouncy house groove combined with the effective drops to get them hands up.

Intrepid Kiwi music-maker Mara TK cooks up a soulful, free-spirited two-track EP, Taniwhunk, with deeply magnetic results. Here is as authentic a listen as you are likely to get all year, experimental, challenging, enriching music without polished edge or tiresome brand-building edifice. Taniwhunk is 21st century Maori music - music with something to say...everything to say.
The Maori, New Zealand's orginal inhabitants, have experienced centuries of upheaval following subsequent European settlement and their need for loud, insightful voice in today's turbulent, over-developed world is greater than ever. Beautifully stark EP opener Run is a powerful Maori challenge to selfish, ruthless authority, its gentle exhale of percussion and guitar providing sheer lift to TK's pure soul vocals on fighting fear, deception and cultural poverty. Acclaimed Detroit DJ-producer Moodymann adds electronic bite to a remix, meanwhile, punching jagged, metallic rhythms through a stirring haze of b-line organ, digital hum and sharp keys. The Maori are speaking with digital clarity.
Second Taniwhunk cut, Anyone Here, ups the tempo and extends TK's important dialogue with the listener. Here forceful drum and Piano loops build into spirals of synth, shuffling cymbals and more sweet yet sweeping vocals, TK serving us personal, heartfelt thoughts on the displacement of community and its identity and, in turn, the corporate misuse of land which has killed off a truly sustainable, age -long way of life. A remix by London DJ-producer Simbad moves firmly into raw house territory - deep analogue bass spliced with phased 'n' filtered synths and seriously cuttin' drums to mesmeric effect - but story remains key; how could it not Mara TK, one third of acclaimed, genre re-defining soul trio Electric Wire Hustle, hails from Canterbury, an area of New Zealand's South Island holding huge historical significance for the Maori. Reconfigured over several centuries by Western capitalism, and ravaged in recent years by literally thousands of earthquakes, Canterbury promises little today for its original settlers. Where natural diasaster hasn't struck, industry-scale dairy farming pollutes local rivers preventing the sustainable fishing upon which TK's family, and people, once based their peaceful lives.
TK, then, is a self-confessed 'Maori In Space'; a new age tribesman striking back with the technological tools at his disposal in these bewildering, highly advanced times, and some considerable talent, to express the Maori's mana in high definition and with panoramic reach. Taniwhunk balances statement and style perfectly; art imitating and enhancing life....

Up next on the decade strong Crosstown Rebels is class live act Pezzner who joins forces on 'Exit' with vocalist and co-producer Amina. 'Exit' is a charged edgy slice of disco-darkness, where the power of raw electronic stabs meets the sultry tones of Amina's incredible Bjorkesque vocals. 'Pipes' is a more organic atmospheric affair of a hypnotic groove; mellow dubby textures flow into fluid, analogue melodies. Continuing Crosstown's innovative remixers, up steps Hotflush boss and dubstep pioneer turned master of versatility, Scuba. Delivering his take on 'Exit' with elastic bass and an expanding soundbed of jarring chords and alternating synth lines, the result is a suspense filled and stupendous sonic ride of house-hedonism.

Seattle's Dave Pezzner wants to tell stories and feed the brain with his dancefloor focused productions and this mantra is finely displayed here as well as on previous album works, 'The Tracks Are Alive' (Freerange Records, 2010) and 'Last Night In Utopia' (Systematic Recordings, 2013) and EPs for Crosstown Rebels offshoot Rebellion, Dirtybird, Ovum and Classic. Highly regarded across the board as a producer and live act, his work has been described as 'lush and tense with a transcendental twist'

Amina is an Italian Egyptian heir to a mystical culture she grew up through the memories left by her mother a musician and composer that led to the exploration of many instruments and later an obsession with poetry. Fate led her to meet Dave Pezzner in 2011 and this gave rise to a passion project that fused Amina's poems with a collaborative mix of eclectic and harmonic sounds that brought Amina's lyrics alive with Pezzer's three-dimensional sonic imagery full of tension and transmission...

Scuba needs little or no introduction. As the head of Hotflush Recordings, one of the most illustrious and genre bending labels of our times and with a history steeped in the UK dubstep scene, Paul Rose aka Scuba and SCB has been residing in Berlin since 2008 and is now a future facing figurehead in electronic music with a sonic style reaching far beyond his dubstep roots.

Disco Bloodbath's latest sees the man behind the Tusk Wax empire swap his A&R hat for a pair of producer pants and team up with the highly talented Causa for a four track EP.

'Confide' is a moody slo-mo chugfest with vocals courtesy of Tusk himself. Causa's dub strips back the groove and let's the synths wig out, while Scott Fraser aims for the floor and provides a sterling remix full of clattering drums and acid flourishes.

The package is rounded off with Iniciar, a stunning ambient synth piece with a sci-fi soundtrack feel.

Liverpool's Dale Howard has become synonymous with quality house music since bursting on to the
scene four years ago with releases on Neurotraxx, Starlight and Sleaze Records. Since then he has
become a 'go to' man for standout productions with his music finding a home with respected labels such
as Morris Audio, OFF Recordings and Noir. Now this much-lauded producer is joining forces with new kid
on the block Silence in Metropolis, a brand new label coming from Washington DC with its sights set firmly
on releasing the best in House music.

The 'Give Me EP' opens with the original version of the title track, a bumpin' deep house affair that marries
rolling house rhythms with classic garage elements to provide an instantly hooky cut. Howard's production
skills shine with tightly edited vocals, skittering beats and subtle keys, quality stuff. The original version of
'Give Me' is backed with a remix from OFF and ALiVE artists Leftwing & Kody who deliver a garage
flavoured killer complete with high strings, percussive organ stabs and old school bassline.

The second of the two originals, 'Get You', again journeys into deep house / garage crossover territory
with a Nineties feel fuelled by soulful vocal parts, shuffling drums and classic hooks. The remix duties this
time fall to JMF, a producer who is working with labels such as Holic Trax and Static Audio, here he
twisted 'Get You' into a chunky and raw house workout that is a perfect closer for this superb package.

Giuseppe Tuccillo better known as simply Tuccillo established himself as one a leading names in the underground house industry around 2008/2009, racking up a string of singles for King Street Sounds, Freerange and Delusions Of Grandeur, making a heavy initial impact for the budding producer. Which then later led to a move to Ibiza, where Giuseppe turned in collaborations with DC10's Tania Vulcano, a single on Isgud and Surface and some heavyweight house offerings on 2020Vision where he returns to here, among many other reputable pieces of work.

The EP opens with 'For You', a stripped-back drum and bass driven workout, built around stuttering tremolo processed vocal licks, crunchy classic house drums and Tuccillo's signature hooky bass line. Things slowly bloom as the track progresses, with the introduction of a selection of delayed vocal lines and an amalgamation

of house stabs and bright synth hits creating an infectious charm and dance floor appeal for the cut. Following is title track 'Optimum', which sees the Italian opt for a more lo-fi, less-is-more approach as dubbed out stabs, rugged beats and boomy subs drive the cut. Tuccillo plays on subtle nuances and an ever-evolving dynamism throughout to keep things in an ever-enticing state and creating something both widely appealing and stunningly contrasting to the opening piece.

On the flip side of the 12'' we open with 'Green', a retro infused house record with a classic feel, achieved through shuffling 707 style drums, disco strings, a stabbing synth hook and an encapsulating elongated bass line. The focal stages then introduce dreamy melodies, sporadic pads and intricate variations in the drum programming, resulting in something classically influenced yet undeniably forward-thinking.

Then last up to wind down the EP, Tuccillo turns in 'So Hot feat. CH Brown' dropping the tempo slightly and introducing Mr. Brown's Hypnotic vocal lines alongside raw rhythms and tweaking acid bass.

Patience does pay off for those willing to let things happen naturally, such is the case with Denis Clifford who submitted his first release 'Easter Island' to Bumako more than a year ago through soundcloud. Label boss Jenifa Mayanja knew she had something special in Irish producer Denis Clifford who though an accomplished musician had only recently started to delve into house music production.
The resulting connection brings about a full length album from Denis entitled 'Miracles of Matter' which wedges nicely between melodic techno and groove steady deep house..This first effort really showcases the potential of this up and coming producer as he mixes it up from catchy hooks on 'Take it or leave it', the ethnic house vibes on 'Clockwork' and the euphoric techno tone of 'King of dreams' the final track. There is enough to catch the attention of fans of his highly seductive take on the techno genre while also rocking the floors of groove hungry house fans..
Denis Clifford is one of a select few artists who will be featured on Bumako Recordings that will produce albums for the label showcasing more full length material from many corners of the house music world.
Following Denis Clifford's cd and digital release will be a special limited edition 12' featuring remix versions of select tracks from the full length release.

After two years of existence, New York's L.I.E.S. Records has transformed itself from a bedroom label into one of the more interesting and diverse labels
in the world of modern underground electronic music. Disc one, of this double cd compiles and documents some of the labels early moments showcasing out of print tracks by Legowelt, Terekke, Steve Moore, Two Dogs in a House, and Bookworms to name a few, showcasing the broad yet cohesive spectrum of styles the label has worked within.
The second disc is comprised of almost all new and unreleased material from the labels current pool of talent, with tracks by the likes of newcomer Delroy Edwards, Mutant Beat Dance's Beau Wanzer, cult figure Terekke, early label contributor Marcos Cabral and more. Through and through this compilation captures where the label has been and where it is going in the future.
